I was wondering if you had created a default for data/time (I'm looking to create one that will insert the equiv. of time()). When I try to make one and set the value to time() it tells me the value cannot be anything except a function, constant, or var. What's the deal?
I am importing a csv file to SQL 2005 table. The source column is coming as datetime. The destination filed is a datetime type. I would like to update the destination with the time part from the source. I used the data conversion to convert it to time using "database time[DT_DBTIME]". For a source value "2/08/2007 21:51:07" this inserts a value "2007-08-03 21:51:07.000". I need the column to have a value as "1900-01-01 21:57:07.000".
Can someone please tell me how do I do this conversion?
creating the missing records in a date/time range.
However, I need to return different groups for each span of records.
here's some data....
aaa1 aaa7 bbb2 bbb5 bbb6
The numbers are the hour of the day.
I need to return
aaa 0 0 aaa 1 1 aaa 2 0 aaa 3 0 ... bbb 0 0 bbb 1 0 bbb 2 1 ... and so on.
I've got a numbers table and I can left join with it but I just get nulls for the missing hours instead of having it as above.....I can't think of a way of repeating the groups for each of the 'missing' hours - other than creating a length insert statement to fill in the gaps....unless that is the only way of doing it.
Hi, Does anyone have a workaround or know of a fix to this problem: Default value set to 'date pick' from date currently within field by setting value equal to that field . ie if date is 01/01/2010 date picker opens in Jan 2010 - works ok. However, once published to Sharepoint and run through browser the Date Picker ignores the default value and the date picker opens for today. ie April 2008.
I'm trying to extract some data from a table in oracle. The oracle table stores date and time seperately in 2 different columns. I need to merge these two columns and import to sql server database.
I'm struggling with this for a quite a while and I'm not able to get it working.
I tried the oracle query something like this,
SELECT (TO_CHAR(ASOFDATE,'YYYYMMDD')||' '||TO_CHAR(ASOFTIME,'HH24:MM : SS')||':000') AS ASOFDATE
FROM TBLA
this gives me an output of 20070511 23:06:30:000
the space in MM : SS is intentional here, since without that space it appread as smiley
I'm trying to map this to datetime field in sql server 2005. It keeps failing with this error
The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data
I'm struck with error for hours now. Any pointers would be helpful.
I'm looking for a way of taking a query which returns a set of date time fields (probable maximum of 20 rows) and looping through each value to see if it exists in a separate table.
E.g.
Query 1
Select ID, Person, ProposedEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyOptions where person = 'me'
Table
Select Person, ExistingEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyTimetable where person ='me'
Loop through Query 1 and if it finds ANY matching Dayfield AND Timefield in Query/Table 2, return the ProposedEvent (just as a message, the loop could stop there), if no match a message saying all is fine can proceed to process form blah blah.
I'm essentially wanting somebody to select a bunch of events in a form, query 1 then finds all the days and times those events happen and check that none of them exist in the MyTimetable table.
I have a reference table that currently has no web front-end. It's a small table(<10 rows) that's not going to change very often (maybe once every few months).
We manually update rows on the table via the GUI table interface in Enterprise Mgr., not in T-SQL.
What I'd like to do is have SQL Server automatically update the "Last_Modified" column with the current timestamp. I can do it on an Insert using the GetDate() function, but if I update a row, this doesn't work.
Is there a function I can use that can auto-populate for both insert and updates?
I am trying to load previous days data at 3 am via a SSIS job.
The Date variable is initiated as DATEADD("dd",-1, GETDATE()) in the for loop.
Now, as this job runs at 3 am, and I set the variable as GETDATE() - 1, it excluded the data from 12 am to 3 am in the resultset as Date is set as YYYY-MM-DD 03:00:00:000 I need this to be set as YYYY-MM-DD 00:00:00:000
When a new database is created in enterprise manager the path for the database and transaction logs are defaulted to d:mssql7data or wherever you installed SQL Server to initially. Is there a way to change the defaults to place the data on one drive and the logs on a different drive?
I am creating a new filed in SQL Server 2005, and I want the field to have the default of '0'
I select the data type as numeric and save my changes, I then visit our front end database to see if the default value is just '0' but it appears as '0.00'
SO i thought about changing the default value to int (im thinking this means integer?) and changing it to '3' but it still displays the decimal point and two 0's
Am I doing something wrong here? I just want it to display '0'
here i try to set default value 0 while creating table., But in my code its not working.,any one please help me to know how to set a default value while creating table.,
here is the sample code.,
CREATE TABLE MODULE_ROLE ( MODULE_ROLE_IDINT IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, ADD_FLAGBIT default 0, UPDATE_FLAGBIT default 0, BIT default 0, VIEW_FLAGBIT default 0, INPUT_USERINT ) insert into MODULE_ROLE values (null,null,1,null,1)
I am having 2 tables Groups and GroupMembers table . the following are the structures for the above two tables
Group ---------
GroupID GroupName CashassignmentType
Groupmembers ----------------------
MemberID memberName GroupID Payment
Group table is referenced by groupmembers table through Group ID Column Here while i am inserting a row (member) into a Groupmembers tables i want to crosscheck with CashAssinmenttype column of Group table. if cashassignment type i want to set the payment with 0 other wise the payment specified should be inserted
Groupmembers.Payment <---> If Group.CashassignmentType=0
Then 0 Else Payment
I want to set this Condition while creating tables itself
Please let me know what could be the best option to proceed here
i login my remote sql server 2005 as 'sa' and then i try the following code:

I am trying to find a solution to a thorny problem I have encountered...
I am a newbie in Sql Server 2000, but have quite a bit of experience in databases, both on PC and mainframe.
I am currently writing a program, which needs, among other things, to create Sql Server databases, to be located NOT in the default Mssql2000 directory, but in the user's home directory.
I am using an ADO connection and trying to execute it, as follows:
The text of the relevant part of the program goes like this:
Dim strCreateDatabase As String Dim MyCn As ADODB.Connection
Set MyCn = New ADODB.Connection
With MyCn .ConnectionTimeout = 25 .Provider = "sqloledb" .Properties("Data Source").Value = "MOP" .Properties("Initial Catalog").Value = "" .Properties("Integrated Security").Value = "SSPI" .Open End With
I have a table with ~30M records. I'm trying to add a column to the existing table with default value and have noticed following ... When using alter with default value- (Executes more than 45 min and killed forcefully)
ex: ALTER TABLE dbo.Table_X Add is_Active BIT CONSTRAINT DF_Table_X_is_Active DEFAULT 'FALSE' NOT NULL GO
When using update command after adding column with alter (without default value) it completes is 5 min.
ex: ALTER TABLE dbo.Table_X Add is_Active BIT NULL GO UPDATE Table_X SET is_Active = 0 WHERE is_Active IS NULL GO
Why there is so much of difference in execution times ? I was just trying to understand internal behavior of the SQL in these two scenarios.
Hi there. I'm trying to extract data from my SQL server & everything in the script I've got is working (extracting correct data) except for one field - which is for the most part it's off by +2 days (on a few occasions - I see it off by just +1 day or even +3, but it's usually the +2 days).
I'm told that it's due to the conversion formula - but - since SQL is not my native language, I'm at a bit of a loss.
The DB table has the date field stored as a type: CHAR (as opposed to 'DATE') Can anyone out there help?
A server with SQL 2005 sp2, Reporting Services and Sharepoint services (ver 3.0) (in integrated mode) gives an odd error. When viewing a Reporting Services report with a Date Time Picker, the date chosen is wrong. The preferred setting is Danish with the date format dd-mm-yyyy. The date picker shows the months in Danish but when selecting a date, and clicking on the Apply-button, the date reformats to US (mm-dd-yyyy).
Example: When choosing 5th of September 2007 and clicking apply, it shows in the picker, 9th of May 2007. When choosing 26th of September 2007 and clicking apply, it shows, again in US format, the RIGHT date but adds a timestamp 12:00 AM? in the end, making further enquiries to fail.
The report itself receives the right date and shows correctly. The only case it fails is, when the time stamp appears.
The server is a 32-bit one with 4 GB RAM. A testserver with identical collation on the Reportserver database cannot recreate the error. The site containing the reports has been set to Danish in the regional settings. To Reinstall is not an option.
The test report has no database connection whatsoever.
When setting the site to US, the timestamp wont appear at all.
The server has been restarted and the installation procedure was of the simple kind. No special tweaks at all.
I just installed Sql Server 2005, and opened the Sql Server management studio, and the connect to server dialog box popped up, i selected database engine, but what do I put in the server name box? I tried my computer name, and got an error, i tried localhost and got an error, i tried my computer name/localhost and got an error. I installed it as the default instance with windows authentication, and I verified that the sql server service is running, but I always get a login error. Can anyone help me get started?
I have passed createdDate from UI to Stored procedure.createdDate field declared with DateTime.it is having value 2014-07-01.I need to fetch records from the database based upon the created field.but Create_TM in database having value Date with timestamp.so how would i change the createdfield in stored procedure.
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[ByDateRange]
@Feed VARCHAR(50),
@CreatedDate DATETIME
select * from Date_table where Create_TM = @CreatedDate
I have a table named "shift" and I need to setup my query to return only data where the field "startime" = today. The problem I am running into is the starttime field it laid out like "2005-12-29 14:00:00" with different time values. I need to ruturn everything that has todays date regardless of the time value. I tried using GetDate() but that is returning data for other days as well or just data before or after the current time. Does anyone have any suggestions? This is driving me crazy! Thanks, Garrett
We have a bunch of Audit tables that contain almost exact copies of the operations tables. The audit tables also include:
AuditID - the audit action (insert, modify - old, modify - new, deleted) AuditDate - date and time of action AuditUser - User who did it...
At the end of the day I need to know for any given record what it looked like at the beginning of the day and what it looks like at the end of the day. There could have been numerous changes to the record throughout the day, those records I am not interested in. Only the first record and the last record of a give day.
I am going to be doing a lot of MIN(AuditDate) and MAX(AuditDATE) and .. WHERE AuditDate BETWEEN '10/1/2007 00:00:00' AND '10/1/2007 11:59:59' ...
Question: Whats better for performance:
1. Separating out the date and time and doing a clusterd index on the date.
2. Keeping date and time in the same column and just use a normal index.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and I can't get Reporting Services to create the virtual directories in Default Web Site, instead it creates a new web site called Report Server with the virtual directories under that, this Report Server website points to C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerInetPubwwwroot. Any ideas as to why this happens? My Default Web Site is called Default Website from the initial IIS install , I am on XP Pro SP 2 with IIS 5.1. This is an issue for me since I don't want to have on another site that doesn't have the aspnet mapings.
I am dumbfounded and can't figure out what to do to make it not do that with the default configuration option checked during install. Should I uninstall and reinstall again and not use the default configuration?
Hi,I need a way of changing the following SQL statement so that the dates are without the hh:mm:ss tt:"Select DISTINCT([StartDate]) From [Events]"How can this be done? Thanks,Curt.
