Apr 28, 2004

We are using SQL Server with logshipping.

I want to know if there is a way to see what was the operation that lead to have this to big 2 log files
(sql statement or transaction... : with Oracle for instance, if we have chance, we can find this kind of info in
a dynamic views by the name of : v$sqlarea...)...

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Find Tables That Are Generated From SSIS Package

Jun 26, 2014

I have three databases and 40 tables within each database on my server, for each of the tables I want to know which SSIS package generates that table. Is there a script that can do this?

If the SSIS package does not create or populate a table on the server I then want to check if there is a stored procedure that populates this.

Analysis :: Find Amount Distribution Across Different Transaction Types Under Spend Transaction

Jul 27, 2015

I created a Calculated measure in cube something like this : ([TransType].[TransTypeHierarchy].[TransTypeCategoryParent].&[SPEND],[Measures].[Transaction Amount]). To get only spend transactions. Now, I want to slice this measure with same hierarchy to find the amount distribution across different transaction types under spend transaction. But this query behaving like the measure doesn't have relation with measure.

you can think this as below query:
WITH
MEMBER SPEND AS ([TransType].[TransTypeHierarchy].[TransTypeCategoryParent].&[SPEND],[Measures].[Transaction Amount])
SELECT NON EMPTY {SPEND} ON 0
,NON EMPTY ([TransType].[TransTypeHierarchy].[TransTypeCategoryParent]) ON 1

Modifying Generated XSD File

Jan 18, 2006

Hello,

I am working with an .xml file that I want to break up into various tables. A couple of fields in my xml file include html tags (<p> tags specifically). The generated xsd file thinks these are nested xml tags and creates a "P" table for the information contained. Is there a way I can modify the generated xsd within the designer? Or is the only way to fix this is to manually modify the xsd?

There is also an <id> tag within the xml. However, SSIS is not using that <id> as the primary key as it adds data to the various tables that I've specified. Instead it appears to be creating its own primary key - calling it "Id". Is there some way to specify that SSIS use the <id> tag contained within the xml instead of creating its own primary key?

Thank you for any help.

Pad The Generated Flat File With 0

Jul 30, 2007

Hi Guys,

Related to my last questions on SSIS work i'm doing, Is there a way to pad 0 on my generated flat file dynamically.
I'm getting the data from 1 table and then generating the file. The file i need to generate would have data at the desired location as the file is being used by another system.
Depedning on the data I want to put the padding of "0" and "3" inc certain fields. How am i suppose to do it.
Apart from this I would need to megre 2 or more column and before the merge do an airthmatic operation.
What would be the best component to use script component or derived column?

Anyone Imported Text File Generated From DB2?

Jun 26, 2006

Has anyone import into SQL Server a text file generated by DB2?

the DB2 files has bunch of weird characters in it that look like they are used for formatting...as opposed to actually being data.

Also, SQL can't find a row terminator.

I received a cobol declaration copy book for the data, but I have no idea what to do with the special characters.
Any help would be appreiciated.

SQL 2012 :: Adding Header Information To XML Generated File

Apr 23, 2015

I have a sql query:

SELECT
'5' AS 'value/@version',
'database' AS 'value/@type',
'master' AS 'value/name',
LTRIM(RTRIM(( [Server Name] ))) AS 'value/server',
'True' AS 'value/integratedSecurity',
15 AS 'value/connectionTimeout',
4096 AS 'value/packetSize',
'False' AS 'value/encrypted',
'True' AS 'value/selected',
LTRIM(RTRIM(( [Server Name] ))) AS 'value/cserver'
FROM dbo.RedGateServerList
FOR XML PATH(''), ELEMENTS

I need to add some header information to the beginning of the query:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16" standalone="yes"?><!--
SQL Multi Script 1
SQL Multi Script
Version:1.1.0.34--><multiScriptApplication version="2" type="multiScriptApplication"><databaseLists type="List_databaseList" version="1">

Everything I have tried ends up as a failure, usually compile issues. My goal here is to be able to automare a configuration file for multiscript so I can keep my server list up to date.

SQL Agent Jobstep Output File Contains Automatically Generated Header

Mar 28, 2007

Hi,

I've created a stored procedure that creates a script to create a number of objects within the database (based on what existing objects are in the database). From Management Studio, this works fine, and the output is exactly as I want it.

I'm now trying to create a job that will execute this stored procedure, and deposit the results into a file somewhere on the server. When the job runs, the script is created in the correct place and is essentially ok.

However, there are a couple of questions I'd like to ask.

Why does SQL Server Agent put a header at the top of the output file? I was hoping to be able to use that output file 'as is' and execute it automatically to recreate my objects when required. (Obviously, I can manually remove the header, but this is an inconvenience in this situation). How do I stop it?

Also, when executed from SSMS, the output is correctly line-spaced. But, the output from the scheduled job adds an extra line between each line of text, which is, again, inconvenient. Why does it do this, and how can I prevent this (again, without manually editting the output)?

Any thoughts and help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Simon

Entity Framework: No Support For Server-generated Keys And Server-generated Values

Hello

I tried the Beta 1 of the service pack 1 to .net 3.5. If I try to add an entity (and try to save this), I get the Exception "No support for server-generated keys and server-generated values".

How can I add entities to my Sqlce- database?

I tried to give the id- column (primary key) in the database an identity, another time without identity, only primary key --> none of them worked. I always get the same error.

What do I have to change to make successfully a SaveChanges()?

Transact SQL :: Find Last Transaction Of A Particular Type For Each Customer

Nov 12, 2015

I am working with SQL 2012 Express and I have a table with all transactions of invoices and payments for each customer. I am looking to find the last transaction detail of either two particular types of transactions (but not both) for each customer. So far I have tried various combinations around

SELECT        MAX([sbt::dte]) OVER (PARTITION BY [sbt::code]) AS LastPayment, [sbt::folio], [sbt::typ], [sbt::net]
FROM dbo.tblSalbatTxn
WHERE      ([sbt::typ] = 13 OR [sbt::typ] = 17)

Then there are some cases where customers have made more than the one of the same transaction type on that same last day which I would then like to sum the net value for that day of that transaction type.

I have also worked around this but it filtered the transaction type after it found the last transaction for each customer irrespective of it's transaction type.

SELECT        TOP (100) PERCENT a.[cl::code], a.[cl::alpha], b.[sbt::folio], b.[sbt::typ]
FROM            dbo.tblSalAccounts AS a INNER JOIN
                         dbo.tblSalbatTxn AS b ON a.[cl::code] = b.[sbt::code]
WHERE        (b.[sbt::dte] =
                             (SELECT        MAX([sbt::dte]) AS Expr1
                               FROM            dbo.tblSalbatTxn
                               WHERE        (b.[sbt::typ] = 11 OR
                                                         b.[sbt::typ] = 17) AND ([sbt::code] = b.[sbt::code])))

Saving Tables That Are Generated By Queries As HTML File Or Sub-tables

Oct 17, 2006

I have a trade data tables (about 10) and I need to retrieve information based on input parameters. Each table has about 3-4 million rows.

The table has columns like Commodity, Unit, Quantity, Value, Month, Country

A typical query I use to select data is "Select top 10 commodity , sum(value), sum(quantity) , column4, column5, column6 from table where month=xx and country=xxxx"

The column4 = (column2)/(total sum of value) and column 5=(column3)/(total sum of quantity). Column6=column5/column4.

It takes about 3-4 minutes for the query to complete and its a lot of time specially since I need to pull this information from a webpage.

I wanted to know if there is an alternate way to pull the data from server ?

I mean can I write a script that creates tables for all the input combinations i.e month x country (12x228) and save them in table (subtable-table) with a naming convention so from the web I can just pull the table with input parameters mapped to name convention and not running any runtime queries on database ??

OR

Can I write a script that creates a html files for each table for all input combinations save them ?

OR

Is there exists any other solution ?

SSIS Job Cannot Find File....

Jan 31, 2006

I'm getting an error when running my SSIS package in a SQLAgent job....

Message

This is the command line executing the SSIS package....

I'm assuming the file it cannot find is the SSIS package..."ES PackagesES DEDUCTIONS".

The step is running under the SQL Agent Service Account.

Anyone have any hints for me? The file is there when I look in integration services.

PS. I looked at the Configuration Manager and Integration Services in running under the Network Service account while the SQL Agent service is running under the Local System account. Could this make a difference? Should all the services be running under the same account? (I don't install this stuff so excuse my ignorance.)

Transaction Log File And DTS

Jul 16, 2004

:eek: I made a DTS package to import a bunch of data from text files into a db...and the log file keeps filling up.

This is a hosted server and I only have 35mb log file.

I'm really new to the DTS Designer...so what I set up in the DTS is
1. FTP 9 text files down into a temp folder
2. Delete all data in the 9 corresponding tables in the db.
3. import the data from the text files back into the db.

My client will need this DTS run daily.
What are my options for making sure the transaction log doesn't fill up everyday?
The transactions by the DTS (all the deletes and inserts) don't really need to be logged at all.
Is there some kind of maintenance plan I or the net admin could set up?
Is there a SQL command I could add to the DTS to make it not log the transactions that belong to this DTS?
Is there a better way to setup the DTS?

Thanks for any help!!!

Question 2:
Is there a "notify me if someone posts to this thread" feature anywhere on this site? I didn't see it. :eek:

Cannot Find File Or Assembly Error.....

Job Fails With The System Cannot Find The File Specified

Oct 31, 2007

Hello,
I have a package that copies data FROM an MS Access database table to a SQL Server 2005 table. 'Run64BitRunTime' has been set to 'False'. The package has been saved to SQL Server. I have a Job that runs the package using an operating system command. The following is the command syntax:

€œC:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SQL Server90DTSBinndtexec.exe€? /SQL "RebatesRebates_TotalSecurity" /SERVER bwdbfin1 /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E

I created the package on a machine other than bwdbfin1. I can run the package from Visual Studio. I can run the package from Integration Services. I have sysAdmin rights on bwdbfin1. I've tried running the job using two different proxy accounts and the sql agent account. I have the location of the Access database. No matter what I do, the Job fails with the following error:

The process could not be created for step 1 of job 0xD947EF76ACD96340B12279FEDDC580CE (reason: The system cannot find the file specified). The step failed.

I have an identical package that copies data TO an Access database. The database addressed in that package and this package are in the same location. The 'CreatorName' of both packages is the same. I have logging enabled for every category, but nothing is written to the sysdtslog90 table when the Job runs. I set up error output in the DataFlow task, and have also tried to 'ignore' errors. I have searched the forum, done a web search, and I can't find a reason for the failure.

Is dtexec the file that is not found? If that were the case, then why can a Job run my other package?

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help!
