Get Recordcount From Oracle And Update Sql Server Table

I posted this question a little while ago but was not able to implement it. Now I am back to the same issue. Basically I want to get a recordcount from a table in Oracle and update an existing record in sql server with the value.
I am trying to accomplish this using a Execute SQL Task. In this task I am pointing to a Oracle DB that I am able to query from SSIS so connectivity is not an issue.
I have defined a variable EmpRC of type int32.
I have a following the the SQL Task:
query: select count(*) from emp;
result set=single row.
and on result set tab ResultName =0 and variable name is same defined above : User::EmpRC
I get an error when I run this:
[Execute SQL Task] Error: An error occurred while assigning a value to variable "EmpCompRC": "Unsupported data type on result set binding 0.".
I have tried using different data types for EmpRC but having no luck. any ideas?
I have a number of databases with large tables. I need to update them from time to time. I want to get the recordcount of the table and calculate based on that the amount of time it would take to update the table. Any idea who I can do this? I'm using coldfusion 8 with sql to do this. Any advice would be appreciate!

All I need to do is run a query against a table on mssql 2005 server and update a table (only update) in Oracle
Here are some of the things I have tried:
1) from a forum tip, I set up a dataflow: OLE DB Source (MS SQL) -> Derived Column -> OLE DB Command (Oracle)
- I get "Error at Data Flow Task [OLE DB Command [2850]]: Columns "NyNamn" and "id" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types."
2) I have tried a Source - OLE DB Source (MS SQL) -> Derived Column -> OLEDB Desination (Oracles OLEDB)

I have full rights on the oracle database with the account used, i can connect with toad with no problems.
To me, this should be a simple task. has anyone got any advice for me ?

Hi, I have a table in SQL Server 2005 which has [Id] and [Name] as its columns. I also have a Oracle database which has a similar table.
What I want to do is as follows: In a SSIS package, I want to pick up details from SQL Server and update the Oracle table. And then should be done without using a linked server connection.

The destination table has a partition set on a column called "DATE_HIGH". How do I populate this date high column in my package? Currently I just have a source object, and a destination object, but I'm unclear how to populate this field in the destination. I've read one blog that states "use OLE DB Command" - but that isn't enough information for me to implement - Can someone be more specific in these steps? Here is an example of what my newb-ness needs to understand

Second part of my question: There is a second column called "ROW_NUM" and there is an Oracle Sequence provided to me... What objects do I need (Source, Destination, OLE DB Command etc...) and how do I call this sequence to populate on the fly as I'm loading data from my source?

Hi All, I am Currently doveloping a Asp.Net application. I Need to Use two databases one is Sql server and another one is Oracle. My Main database is Sqlserver . But I need to get data from two tables from the oracle database also. I would like to create the same table in Sqlserver and move data from oracle . I figure this should not be a complex one. I know how to manually pull in data from Oracle 9i into SQL Server 2000 using DTS. However this is my issue.....
I simply want to automate the pulling in of data from 1 table in my ORACLE 9i database into another table in my Sql Server 200. I was hoping I could simple write a stored procedure that would sort of utilize a dblink like in ORACLE and then schedule that procedure. Every column contaning null-values at the table in Oracle9i is allowing null-values at the destination table in the SQL Server.
I'm pretty lost here - does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I am trying to use a stored procedure to update a column in a sql table using the value from a variable table I getting errors because my syntax is not correct. I think table aliases are not allowed in UPDATE statements.

I have a scenario where I have to Update a table with date when there are new records in another table
For example:
I load ODS table with the data from a file in SSIS. the file has CustomerID and other columns.
Now, when there is new record for any customerID in Ods, then Update the dbo table with the most recent record for every CustomerID(i.e. update the date column in dbo for that customerID). Also Include an Identifier that relates back to the ODS table. How do I do this?

I have the OraOLEDB.Oracle provider installed to the (C:oraclexe) directory.
I am having problems querying from linked oracle server. When i setup oracle as a linked server and purposely enter an incorrect password the query i run tells me i have an incorrect password. So it at least knows that. when i set the correct password and run a query I get this error:
(i replaced the real server name with "someServer".)

I need to update the AcquiredFrom table from source_office table. both the tables are from different database and server. we can match them on Code and source code. Initially if we can find out the discrepancies and then how can we fix them.
