Hi all, I am using Visual web developper 2005 with sql server express 2005 and i have also sql server management studio express. it's all free now . my web site is ready I didn't have problem to upload my site to my hoster. Now I want to upload all my tables and my stored procedure create locally with VWD express How can i do it ? NB: I know i can't design DB (create/modify tables and stored proc) with express edition thank's for your help
I'm using SQL Server Management Studio Express and I'm trying to figure out how to copy a table(s) from my local database to my web hosting database. I know how to do it in 2000, but it's completely different now. Is this feature not allowed on SSMSE? If so, then how do I deploy database tables to a web host? Also, how do you add local database(s) to SSMSE? I tried to use 'attach database' in SSMSE and it wouldn't allow me to navigate to My Documents folder where the database resides. Thanks...
I'v got a database full with an administration. This database needs to be protected and can not be accessed from the internet. Now we are making an internetpage for the employees and i want to read from the database who's working here.
For the security i want to copy some database data from one database to another... Is that possible? With a script ore something?
How do i make a new database file and then copy all the tables and data out of an old SQL file into it? I just want to see if rebuilding the file helps with a corruption issue i have been having with the log file.
hi I'm working in VS2005 with SQL server Express database. How can I copy some tables, stored procedures and diagrams from one database to another? thanks
Hello all! What I need to do is take a site that I have and make 3 copies of it so I will have 4 separate sites with 4 separate DB's but running on the same server. One of the sites is complete but what I need to know is how do I make a complete copy of the DB including all stored procedures and populate a blank DB that has a different name with contents from the master DB??? So if DB1 is complete and I want to now populate DB2, DB3 and DB4 with everything from DB1 (tables, stored procedures, data etc.) what would be the best way to do this? The new sites are already setup in IIS and I have already transferred the files to each sites root, so all that is left is to setup the new DB's. They are all running on the same server⦠I think that is about everything someone would need to know to help me! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Hello everyone. i am using vwd 2005 express edition along with sqlexpress 2005. if i need to use database in my project. i click on database explorer and create a new table from the existing database. it is working very fine. But my problem is when ever i copy the project in my pen driveand try to use in another computer, the database doesnot gets copied when i copy my project folder. well i also tried to copy the tables from the database explorer but it does not happen.i tried to locate where does the database get stored in my computer.but i cant find where it resides..and even if i find which file to copy?i think there is log file and database file in some cases. can some body clarify me this scenario here.just tell me where can i find my database i m using in my project,so that i can copy it . and also whats the use of creating .mdf file in the project.?is this the better way of using database rather than creating using database explorer?confused?? thanks.jack..
I need to copy data from warehouse tables to master tables of different SQL instances. Refresh need to done once in an hour. What is the best way to do this? SQL agent jobs or SSIS packages?
is there a way to copy whole stored procedures to another database? I have aproximately 80 SPs in a database, I want to copy whole SPs into another DB. Is there a practical way to copy them? Thanks
I have 2 databases, one that we use called MyShop and one that I develop oncalled TestShop. After I have a stored procedure working the way I want in TestShop , isthere a way to just copy the SP to the other database without the copy andpaste method?. Same if I have a new table. Any way to add it in withoutrecreating it in the MyShop database?I am using Sql Server 2000ThanksAndy
I've tried creating a simple SSIS package but I get the error:
[Transfer SQL Server Objects Task] Error: Execution failed with the following error: "Cannot apply value null to property Login: Value cannot be null..".
THis is a known bug and while we wait for SP1 to fix this error, is there another way to simply copy tables (with indexes and without having the identity column renumbered) ?
I have 2 databases and each of them has different tables. I want to copy all of tables of database A to database B while keeping the existing tables of database B.
copy the tables of a database that will keep the indexes, constraints etc.? I'll be using SQL 2008 or Visual Studio 2008. The basic SSIS package will not work since our databases are being updated from time to time. (e.g. new columns/tables meaning we need to redo the SSIS package everytime there are changes).
Can someone tell me how I can copy my database which is made with SQLExpress or the tables to another SQL server. The servers could be SQL server 2000 and SQLExpress.
Ok, here is my dilemma I have an application that has many sites. Each site has it's own database. The databases have common tables (ie the name and fields are the same) What I want to be able to do is when creating a new database, I want to be able to copy certain common table data from one database to another. I have run into an error because the table have an IDENTITY so this is not working
INSERT INTO Containers SELECT * FROM ADMS2_Indian_Point.dbo.Containers
I also tried USE ADMS2_RSCS GO SET IDENTITY_INSERT Containers ON GO INSERT INTO Containers SELECT * FROM ADMS2_Indian_Point.dbo.Containers GO SET IDENTITY_INSERT Containers OFF GO
I got an error saying that I need to have a column list. I am trying to use this for any tables, so my question is this.. Is there any way to get around using a column list or is there a way to dynamically create the column list? Or, Is there a better way that I should be doing this?
Please keep in mind I am not a dba and everything I have learned about SQL is from my good pal Google :)
I am racking my brain on this one. I am migrating Oracle data to SQL Server and would like an SSIS package that will copy the oracle data from every table to SQL server. I already have the schema set up in SQL and a straight copy of a specified table works fine between the OLEDB source and OLEDB destination. However, when I set up a loop which sets a global variable for the table names, which are identical on both dbs, and try to set the OLEDB Source and Destination OpenRowsetVariable to the global variable, the process fails with these errors with all validation turned off:
[OLE DB Source [18]] Warning: Cannot retrieve the column code page info from the OLE DB provider. If the component supports the "DefaultCodePage" property, the code page from that property will be used. Change the value of the property if the current string code page values are incorrect. If the component does not support the property, the code page from the component's locale ID will be used.
[OLE DB Source [18]] Error: Column "ID" cannot be found at the datasource.
[DTS.Pipeline] Error: component "OLE DB Source" (18) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202005.
To sum up, I want to set the tables dynamically and have them infer the mappings. The names of the columns are already the exact same on each schema, and the data types are mapped accordingly. I have already verified that the names of the tables have been formatted correctly for each database. If I can't do it this way then how?
1) Scenario Source Oracle database with 400 tables, each table has a field 2 common fields Change_date and Company_ID
2) Required To copy 50 tables to at least 2 different SQL Server databases based on the Change_date and Company_ID
for Compnay_ID = A1 and Change_Date = Last_Working_Date , copy 50 tables to Database1 for Company ID = A2 and Change_Date = Last_Working_Date , copy 50 tables to Database2
Also I am not copying all the fields from each table, just a subset of fields
3)What I have done so far to create Database1 a) Created a SSIS project b) Create 5 individual packages for the project. c) Each package has 10 pairs of OLE DB source to OLE DB source representing the transfer of data for 10 individual tables. d) For each data source, I use SQL command as the data access mode
E.g Select field1, field2, fiedl10 from Table1 where Compnay_ID = A1 and Change_Date = Last_Working Date
4) What I want to do However, since the where condition is the same for all tables (Compnay_ID = A1 and Change_Date = Last_Working Date) , I want to find a way to set this as variable, so if the where condition changes, I only have to change it once.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there; i've recently designed a new db for my portal website, and wanna move the old data from former db to the new one. The problem is that for the 'News' table, for instance i have two different schemas:Old >>News(id,title, summery, text, date, ... , (old columns) , ...)New >> News(id, title , summery , text , date, lastUpdated, ... , (new columns) , ...) i want to copy the bolded columns, and want to have 'lastUpdated' & 'date' in the new table to be the same as 'date' in the former one.as i googled, i just found materials on copying dbs to production servers, or cross db scenarios. thanks in advance
I want to know how to copy tables and data from one database to antoher database including table permissions. Presently i am using Integrity security services. Is it having any option in Integration services or sqlserver 2005.
I need to copy the table structures from my production database to development database but not loose the data in developement. Is there a way to achive this by creating some scripts. thanks
I converted a program from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 all went well. I created a number of tables and stored procedures after the conversion. I backed up my .mdf and .idf files. I was having problems with SQL so I uninstalled and re-installed it. Once I re-installed it I could no longer display some tables and files. Since I am the dbo, I think I should be able to access them. There obviously is something I am missing, hopefully not the tables and sps.
Hi, I am trying to use SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition to copy tables from my local server to my hosts server at brinkster.com. In the old version you could use DTS, but everything seems to have got far more complicated now! Please can anybody guide me in the right direction? Thanks a lot.
