Is it possible to install and configure the MSDTC resource in a SQL Server 2000 cluster after SQL is installed and running?
When I recently went through a rebuild of my cluster, I forgot to install the resource before installing SQL Server. Now, if I install and bring online the MSDTC resource the SQL disk groups will not fail over correctly. The SQL Server resource will not come online.
Thanks in advance for any help. I would really like to avoid rebuilding again.
We have an application server running Windows Server 2000 with Sp4. When we use the ODBC data sources connection software, it shows the SQL Server 2000 servers in the drop down box, but none of the new 2005 servers. If we enter the 2005 server name and try to connect, we get the 'Specified SQL Server not found' error message. The connection works fine from a newer Windows XP box and remote connections is enabled. My guess is that we need a new ODBC to connect to SQL Server 2005, but I can't find anything that says this.
Is it possible to install SQL Server 2005 Eval on a Virtual PC 2007 client running Server 2008 Beta? Nothing says it isn't possible, it says I need to service pack it right away, but before it gets started it comes up with the error 'sqlcu.dll failed to load'. Anyone know what this is all about?
If SQL Server Setup fails, Setup will roll back the installation but may not remove all .manifest files. The workaround is to rename the files and then rerun Setup. For more information, see How to: Work Around COM+ Check Failure in SQL Server Setup.
We've devoted a resource to this today, but I have to believe it's something easy that we're overlooking. The scneario is that we have a production Web application that until last weekend had a SQL 2000 back end. This weekend we installed a new instance of SQL 2005 and everything works (we tested in a sandbox environment, but someone must not have load tested enough) and never saw these exceptions. So, after the upgrade we now receive 100's of thexe SQL excptions per day:A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. I'm trying to install SQL Server 2005 on a server 2000 machine, everything is working with the exception of the Web Service Identity. It is putting machinenameASPNET, and I don't know where to go to make it use something else. I've look around but I have really seen any answers that have worked for me.

Recently I have installed Visual Studion Team System 2008 Development Edition in my sytem. Along with this, MS-SQL Server aand MSSQL Server Compact Edition is also installed. I need to install the SQL Server 2005 in my system.
In such a scenario, does the Compact Edition is required? Can I uninstall them and install Sql Server 2005 only? If I uninstall anything, would it cause any problems for the .Net programs to work?
Hi all, Im new here so il start with a little introduction of myself, My name is Arjan im 19 years old from Holland, and i work for a company to compleet my ICT Education.
My situation:
My boss gave me a server with server 2003 standard and Sql server 2005 and visual studio 2005 installed already, he asked me if i could figure out how the 'new' reporting services work, Im pretty new to SQL and the reporting service but i figured out i had to install asp.net / frameworks and IIS.
So right now i wanna start the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and i get an error that says 'Invalid namespace' and when im trying to approach by using my browser i get 'page not found' so obviously their is Alot wrong. I asked my boss if i could not reinstall everything and do it in the correct order (IIS / ASP.net / Frameworks before installing SQL server 2k5 but that was not an option because we dont seem to have the cd's anymore.
The server is not connected to any network or the internet.
My Question:
Is their any way to fix this? and if yes could anyone tell me where to start

So my question is this, why do I get the error "Specified SQL server not found", when I dont get the error with the test connection files.? Do I have to do anything with the .dll file in the bin directory, like register them or something? How does the Login.aspx.vb file call the PPASA.vb file when I see no reference to PPASA.vb in the Login.aspx.vb file? I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks
I have 2 server 2003 boxes one has sql 2000 and the other has IIS. I can pull up my pages on the iis server but as soon as my app tries to access the sql server I get cannot find server. All my settings are correct in the web.config file. I do not have this problem with the same setup on server 2000 boxes. Also active dir is not set up on the 2000 or 2003 boxes. I am trying to connect to my SQL Server through my ASP.NET webpages. My problem is that, no matter what I do, it always says that the server is not found. I know the IP address of my server, and this IP address works from other computers within my network, just not mine.

Hi, i have just started working with asp.net and purchased a book which has MSDE with it for database access. Ihave followed all the instructions on how to install MSDE, however when i try to set up a database using Miscrosoft ASP.NET Web Matrix, i get the error message:Unable to connect to the database server.SQL server does not exist or access denied.ConnectionOpen(Connect()).This message occurs when i am creating a new database.does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?I have MySQL installed on my computer, could this be interfering with the MSDE ?Thanks....
Sometimes when I try to connect to an existing server (sql 7.0) , I get the error message "specified sql server not found-check registration properties" and it refuses to connect to it. Has anyone encountered this before? Do help.

From my older host I have no problems connecting to my server... so I assumed it must be something at my new host, but I'm able to connect to other remote sql servers from my new isp (for example I can connect from my new ISP to the old ISP's SQL server w/o a problem), but for some reason I can't from the new host connect to mine.. is there a setting on mine that needs to change?

The server explorer finds the database fine, Visio finds the databse fine.The problem only existed after I reverse engineered the database into visio (the database was originally developed using Visio), then dropped all of the tables using Enterprise Manager, and re generated the database from within Visio (ddl script) following a few minor changes.Since the re generation I get the server not found error message from the ASP.Net application.I have tried using different network libraries, logging in using the sa account etc, it makes no difference the ASP.Net application cannot see the SQL server instance.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.p.s.
