Problems In Sql Server Reporting Service Print Option
Oct 4, 2007
I am creating reports in sql server reporting service 2005, After getting reports when we give the print option system will be restarted. But this report is properly printing in Internet Explorer6 but ie7 it cannot work.I don't know why this happened? please give any suggestion.
In TSQL, is there a way to 'Set' the query option results in text as the head of my sql statement?
kind of tired of hit contol+t to get the text result.
also, when I print '@dateStart--' + cast(@dateStart as varchar(30)) I don't get seconds and I even need mis. Is there a simple way instead of a combination of datepart() to get ss, mis?
UPDATE #2: When it said "Do you want to install Microsoft SQL Server" I said "yes" and that caused it to work. I exited and re-ran and now the print runs w/o the "install SQL Server" (If the prompt had said "Do you want to install the print dialog" we wouldn't be having this discussion...)
UPDATE: After posting this i discovered that the same thing occurs when attempting to print the report direct from IE6: First a dialog pops up "Do you want to install this software?" Name: Microsoft SQL Server. When I click "Don't Install" I get the dialog "unable to load client print control." Since this happens direct from IE6 I suspect it's browser settings. I'll resume tomorrow and post a followup.
My WinForm C# app integrates Reporting Services by calling them from WebBrowser controls. The problem is attempts to print cause a dialog: "unable to load client print control."
I've read prior posts that say "enable Active-X in your browser" - I don't know how to do that from a WebBrowser control.
Any ideas how to support Reporting Services "Print" from within a WebBrowser control?
1Is it possible to choose local user,(instead of local system) in sql setup service login and then use mixed mode default configuration in report server or choose configure server later. I will be using a third party host using vista, unfortunately I do not have my own server ( I do not have a domain yet) vista sql 2005 standard vs 2008. ultimate 2 What is the best configuration for a new aspiring asp.net ssrs developer. 3 Do I need to configure the server if I choose local user? 4. what is the best way to configure sql?
By the way what items should I look forward in choosing a web host,(who is willing to give alot of help to developers) my interests include ssrs 2008 sql 2008 sql 2005 asp.net mvc, crystal reports, wcf infragistics. I am really interested in showing examples in sql reporting services, crystal reports wcf , web services , infragistics asp.net mvc intrigues me....... I would like to get on a track to eventually use sharepoint services Thanks again, I know I ask I alot of questions........

When I try to print a very simple report with rs2005 via the print button on the http://servername/report/pages/... website, it says "printing" but nothing happend. When I look at the server (win2003 SP1 + latest hotfixes) the www and sql2005 (SP1 CTP installed) services eat up 100% cpu for ever. I get no error messages neither in the rs log's nor in os application or system log. With profiler I found out, that there must be some loop. The following stored procedure exec DeletePersistedStreams @SessionID='24iumm55mp32l2ie2nezs0y0'is called about 650 times per second, which explain the load. The only way to stop this, is shut down and restart the www service. This behaviour can be found with all reports. The call, view and export of the same reports to pdf, xls, ... works without problems.
Hi everyone In my SqlServer Management Studio Express, on start up it shows the server type option, but greyed. So that value is fixed to database engine. ( I'm trying to work on an SqlServer Compact Edition database through the SSMStudiothat's why I'm trying to get this to change.)Besides, after I connect i go to the Object Explorer, expand the server node, and go to Replication. When i expand replication, i get the "Local Subscription" option, but nothng for Publication.( I want to work on Merge Replication, that's why I desparately need Publication to work)Am i missing something here? I did not install SqlServer separately, I only have what comes bundled with the Visual Studio 2005 Setup.
Hi, I am having a problem when a user presses the print button from the SQL Reporting web interface. When the print button is pressed, it hangs and spikes the CPU until the worker process (w3wp.exe) is killed. This process and the SQL Server process (sqlservr.exe) take all of the CPU.
The only thing I've found that sounds similar is the following discussion: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1813950&SiteID=17
If I follow the discussion in this thread and turn off the configuration option for 'SET NOCOUNT', the it works fine. The thing I'm trying to figure out, is this a bug that was fixed so that the print button will now function whether the flag is on or off. I also need to verify that this is a valid solution to the problem if it is not a fixed bug. I'd also like some information on why this is a problem if someone knows.
I have installed the advanced toolkit for Microsoft Sql server 2005, with the SQL server Business Intelligence Development Studio but I don't have the option the create a Integration Service project. I only have the Report Server project option available.

Hi All, I am using sql server 2000 for creating report using reporting service. I want to know what is the procedure for Installing SQL server Reporting Service for sql server 2000. Can anyone help me.
How to know which service pack is running in the reporting services? I am aware of " SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('ProductLevel')" command. But I guess it shows only sql server sp not reporting service sp. Am I right?
We are using the whole BI-package from Microsoft - from SQL, DTS-package,Raporting Service and Analyze Service.
It should be very helpful to be able to create a metadata databases where you could find all releations between different objects (tables,views,reports,cubes,DTS-package,Databases.
Just to get answer for: 'where is view xxx used', 'what are Report xxx depending upon'.
While everything exists in different SQL databases it should possible to do.
1. We have been using Sql Server 2008 R2 and its reporting services engine.
In the application we used Report Viewer (version 9).
When the report is taken for the first time, couple of messages pops up.
a. Unable to Load print control b. Install Sql Server Reporting Services 2008 R2.
These messages are fine, but we noticed that the second message is not consistent. When the application is deployed in staging server which is as same as the production server except for the power (CPU, RAM), the second message is "Install Sql Server 2008". Why is this happening?
2. To support IE 11, we upgraded the Report viewer to version 11. Now the messages are different.
a. Printing is not available. Verify that ActiveX is enabled or try using IE from the desktop b. Install Sql Server Reporting Services 2008 R2. (Here again when deployed in staging server it says "Install Sql Server 2008").
"http://localhost/MyTrail/Default2.aspx" when i am running this so i will give me error that is"The Permission granted to user"UserName/ASPNET" is insufficient for performing this operation.(rsAccessDenied) Please help me to solve this problem... I did settiings on Report manager. 1- Set the role as a Browser. 2-In IIS anonymous settings

I am being asked to install Reporting Services on an existing SQL Server 2005 SP2 as well. My question is with regard to the setup. When I go through the setup I choose nothing but Reporting Services, which means everything else has a red X on it. Will setup un-install my existing SQL Server 2005 environment? I need Reporting Services, but I do not want to remove my existing environment. Will this happen?

I have a windows 2003R2 SP2 server with SQL Server 2005 std SP2.
I need to add Reporting services & Analysis Services, but i'm not sure of how to proceed.
I was thinking about this : "Add or remove programs", select "Change", select "To install a new component, click here", inserting my CD, and select in the setup Reporting Services & Analysis Services.
After the install, I think I also need to run again SP2 setup, right ?
SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 Service would not Start on windows server 2003. Working great till yesterday and no changes were made to config file.

I am running Vista home premium and installing SQL Express Advanced and do not get the reporting service install option during the installation. I got the warning messages during the installation that the IIS is not available but I have the IIS 7 working with all the features enabled. My ASP.NET apps work on the IIS and connect fine to SQL too, just can not seem to get the reporting services.
I have a workstation that had an installation of SQL 2K5 that a tech set up for me. Naturally, it was the wrong edition AND no components were actually installed, making my laptop into a paperweight. I advised that we get SQL Developer for the DBA's and I am trying to install but the option for Reporting Services is greyed out.
I have uninstalled SQL (I think it was Standard) and I even went through the "complete uninstall" detailed in one of these threads thinking that was the problem. I am still unable to install Reporting Services.
