Proxy Object Always Listed In Unassigned Proxies

I am running into a problem that I have seen others describe but yet to find an answer.
When defining a proxy user and setting it active to any subsystem it always shows up as unassigned and I am unable to reference it in my agent jobs via the 'Run-as' dropdown.
Under the "active to the following subsystems" box in the proxy accounts properties the subsystem I specified when it was created is not checked, when checking it I receive an error that it is already defined. The proxy does not show in the 'Run-as' pulldown.
However, if I script adding the job, and add @proxy_name to the sp_add_jobstep stored procedure it seems to impersonate correctly. It does not show up in the UI.
Any idea's ?

I have read all the posts regarding this error, but non-solve my problem as I had already addressed them.
I am setting up Merge Replication via the Web and I get this error when i try to sync. Let me give you some background.
I wrote a small windows test app to test merge replication, in which i am using RMO to accomplish the replication. This works. It syncs every time. I then copied the "sync" code from the winform application and created a Windows Service in which i placed "sync" code. The sync code did not change other than adding the additional following four lines:

_mergeAgent.InternetLogin = _internetLogin;
_mergeAgent.InternetPassword = _internetPassword;
_mergeAgent.InternetTimeout = _internetTimout;
where the internet url is https://ipaddress/virtualdirectory/replisapi.dll
I have been working with this for a while now trying to figure out why this works (on the same machine) in a winforms app but not through the web (via a windows service).
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I want to know how I get SQL Server Express to use a proxy when connecting to a remote server?
I have SQL Server Express 2005 installed on my laptop.I connect to the internet on the laptop by a proxy.
My desktop has a satellite service called skyDSL which allows me to use satellite to dial-up to the internet. There is a way of configuring it so other machines can connect to it by proxy. You simply connect a crossover cable between the laptop and the desktop and then enter the proxy address under "Tools-Internet Options-Connections-Lan Settings-proxy server"
I have been trying to connect on the laptop to the server that holds my sql server database (hosting365.ie) through SQL Server Express with no success.
This is obviously because the laptop is not directly connected to the internet but by proxy.
I have been changing the settings on sql server configuration manager (I have SQL Server Management Studio Express installed) to make it use the proxy but with no luck.
I am wondering is it actually possible to use a proxy on SQL Server Express is it only possible on the full version?
Any replies appreciated.

I have a job with a single ActiveX step that I have setup and am having problems running.
If i set the SQL Server Agent to run as an Administrator then my job processes fine however under the default setup which has the SQL Server Agent running as Local System I get an error.
I assume this is permissions problem so I created a basic windows user called ABC. I then created a credential called ABC linked to the windows user ABC. I then created a proxy that uses the credential ABC and then ticked the box that allows the proxy to run ActiveX scripts. I then set the ABC as a principle of the proxy.
I then set my single job step to be run under the ABC credential.
Still no luck. This is the first time i've worked with this sort of thing so I'm not sure if I'm going about it in the right way.
Please explain how i can have a job that runs as an active X script. I understand running sql server agent as administrator is bad for security so what are the alternatives?

Hi everybody,
while playing around with replication in SQL Server 2005 I tested other accounts then the server agent account for log reader agent, snapshot agent and distributor agent. I found that the SQL Server generates credentials and proxies for every agent.
But when I use procedures to set up a replication I need to specify the account and the passwort. And I don't like to have passwords in scripts. So my idea was to generate my own credentials and proxies and use them for setting up a replication. But it doesn't work. I couldn't find out how I can use my own credentials and proxies instead of accounts and passwords.
Is it somehow possible to do what I want ? Did I miss something ?

How to "CREATE credentials pointing to SQL SERVER logins" and "creating proxys for SQL server agent pointing to SQL SERVER login.
As The SQL server login does not display in the CHECK NAMES list when we are trying to select the identity but All the other Windows logins display correctly in this list .
So using the SQLserver login fails to run a SQL server Job (which uses the credentials and proxies pionting to SQL server logins)

Hi. I am trying to establish a connection from ssis to oracle using oracle provider for ole db on a 64 bit windows box using the 64 bit oracle provider.
Steps done
1) installed the oracle 10g 64 client
2) installed the odac 64 bit
I am able to connect to oracle using sqlplus fine. i can also see oraOLEDB.oracle listed as a provider in the linked server providers in sql server management studio.
when i try to set up a new data connection in ssis I don't see the oracle ole db provider listed. Since then I have registered the OraOLEDB10.dll but I still don't see the oracle provider listed.
Can some one through me a line ? Thanks.

Hi there NT Server,sqlserver 7.0, Integrated Security. I used "sp_attach_db" to attach a database to the sql server. The database has 3 standard roles with members in each of those roles. But i am not able to add a user to any of the roles through Enterprise Manager(No users are listed, except the other 2 roles). Also when i click "users" under the Database in EM, no users are listed except "dbo" with sa login. Luckily since some members are there in the roles, they are able to connect to the database. Also i am not able to add the user bcos the user exists in the public role and i get an error message "user already exists in DB". The user has logged into the NT and everything is fine. I copied the .mdf and .ldf files from a "Standard Security" Server.

I would like to ensure data integrity in a column (actually multiple columns will need a trigger) in my table(s) by setting up a trigger which allows an update of my database field only if the value which is being written to the field in the database exists in another column (in another "check" table).eg. I need to move specific files from a server to another server on a monthly basis. There are hundreds of files that are in the source directory and I need to move approximately 40 of those to the destination server. I would like to easily add or delete the file list as needed. I have seen where several variables were created for for each file name (and one for the path) and the ForEach Loop would go through them. With 40 or more I was thinking that I could make a connection to an Excel spreadsheet or text file with a record for each file name and read in and and move to the next record and make that value become the content of a "FileName" variable. Then if I wanted to add another file name I could just add another record to spreadsheet/text file or remove and the package would handle automatically....

I created some VBE projects and used some examples from some tutorial books and websites in the past. But, I thought that user instance timeout is 60 minutes and user instances should be gone after 60 minutes. Why do I have the above-mentioned user instances remained in SSEUtil now? Please explain this thing for me.

I'm trying to deploy a project that I deployed yesterday just fine, but today I get the following error:

This seems like a basic permission issue, except I'm not logged in as the user listed! I've never logged into my computer as the user. I did log in to the reporting services website yesterday as that user, but since have rebooted my machine and logged into bothe my computer and the reporting services website as me. Yesterday this report deployed fine. Today, this error message. I've even tried creating a new project and just creating a simple datasource and deploying just that, but still this message! Where is Visual Studio storing and reusing this user name during my deploy process???

I am trying to revert back to Windows 7 after upgrading to Windows 10, however it will not let me and the following message occurs: "Remove new accounts.Before you can go back to a previous version of Windows, you'll need to remove any user accounts you added after the most recent upgrade. The accounts need to be completely removed, including their profiles.You created one account (NT SERVICEMSSQLSERVER) Go to Settings> Accounts> Other users to remove these accounts and then try again".However I did not create any new users and there are no other users listed in the Accounts section.

Hi There,This is related to a ms access database but since I use the SqlDataSource control I thought I should post here.I have a project that I was working on with this ms access db and using sql controls, everything was working just finesince one day I started getting "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" messages when I try to designa query or retrieve a schema, nothing works at design time anymore but at runtime everything is perfect, its a lotof work for me now to create columns,schemas and everything manually, I've tried reinstalling visualstudio, ado componentsbut nothing seems to fix it, did this ever happen to any of you guys?any tip is really appreciated thanks a lot

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question to, so if it's not, please accept my apologies.
I'm working in SQL Server 2005 with a database that was migrated to 2005 from SQL Server 2000. I have to alter a trigger on a table for some functionality changes, and when I modify the trigger and then access it through the application the database is working with, I receive this error:
There was a error in the [stored procedure name] procedure. Error Number: -2147217900 Error Description: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The definition of object '[trigger name]' has changed since it was compiled.
[stored procedure name] and [trigger name] are where the actual names appear in the message.
I've tried running sp_recompile on the trigger, stored procedure, and table that are associated with this, and nothing works. I have dropped the trigger, which allows the save process to complete (but doesn't perform the required functionality, of course), and then re-created the trigger, but the error message still comes up. The compatibility level for the database is SQL Server 2000 (80) (as it was migrated from SQL Server 2000 as I mentioned above).
Has anyone seen this, and if so, how can I fix it?

Help! I have posted this before and I had hoped that the VS2005 SP1 would help my problem. It didn't. My code is shown below. I have dropped a sqlconnection, sqldataadapter and a strongly-typed dataset from the toolbox onto the component designer for my page and written my code. It compiles without any errors but at runtine I receive the system error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." The error occurs at the first line where the sqldataadapter is mentioned. I have shufflled the code and the error still occurs at first mention of the dataadapter. I have set parameters to a simple string such as "myemail." It hasn't helped. I have used the "Dim" statement as "Dim DaAuthorLogin as System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataadapter and Dim DaAuthorLogin as New ......) at the start of the private sub generated by the event requiring the data. Nothing helps. Here is my simple code to select data from a sqlserver 2000 database. Why do I continue to get this error?

Hi,
I am trying to develop a custom algorithm. I have implemented and tested training methods, however I fail at prediction phase. When I try to run a prediction query against a model created with my algorithm I get:

I know this is not very descriptive, but I have seen that algorith doesn't even executes my Predict(..) function (I can test this by logging to a text file)
So the problem is this, when I run prediction query DMPluginWrapper gives exception -I think- even before calling my custom method.
As I said it is not a very descriptive message but I hope I have hit a general issue.

I am trying to send some data back to our as/400 from SQL server. Before I do so I need to delete entries from the table. I have an odbc connection set up and have used it sucessfully in a datareader compoenent but but when I try to use it for a delete SQL task it give me the followign error. what am I doing wrong? I even tried hardcoding in the system name/library name.

Hi Everyone,
Please help me on this issue. I'm a new SSIS User.
I've installed Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition
When I create a new SSIS Project in Business Intelligence Development Studio,
I get the following message:
"Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document: Object reference is not set to an instance of an object".
Error loading 'package.dtsx'bject reference is not set to an instance of an object
When I try to debug the package, I get the below message:
parameter Component(System.Design) is null.
I've uninstalled and installed SS 2005 several times, yet the problem persists.
Please help.

i have a table in MS Access with CandidateId and Image column. Image column is in OLE object format. i need to move this to SQL server 2005 with CandidateId column with integer and candidate Image column to Image datatype.
its very udgent, i need any tool to move this to SQL server 2005 or i need a code to move this table from MS Access to SQL server 2005 in C#.

Just installed VS 2005 & SQLServer 2005 clients on my workstation. When trying to create a new Integration Services Project and start work in the designer receive the MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' dialog box with message "Creating project 'Integration Services project1'...project creation failed."
Previously I had SQLServer 2000 client with the little VS tool that came with it installed. Uninstalled these prior to installing the 2005 tools (VS and SQLServer).
I'm not finding any information on corrective action for this error.
Any one have this problem and found the solution?

Hello -
For the life of me I cannot figure out why i'm getting the "Object Refence Not Set To an Instance of An Object" error after I try and create a Report Services project in Business Intelligence Studio. I've followed all of the steps in similar posts such as checking the ReportServer/web.config file but everything checks out.
Does anyone have any other ideas as to how I can get rid of this annoying error and start creating some reports?
