Hello all, I have two mult-value parameters in my report. Both of them working with selecting one or more values. But, when I test using "(Select All)" values for both parameters , only one parameter works. The "available values" for these two parameters are both from the data set.
select distinct ProductType from Product order by ProductType
There are several parameters on a report. One of the parameter is a multi-select enabled parameter and I suppressed the value "All" showing as one of the item in the drop down list, simply by filter out the [bha].[bha].CURRENTMEMBER.LEVEL.ORDINAL to 1, as "(Select All)" is pre-assigned to the drop list when multi-select is enabled and it is confusing to show "(Select All)" and "All" in the drop list. However I have another report which is linked to this report and the value which is required to pass to this report for this parameter is "All". Can I pass the "Select All" as a parameter from the other report? If so, how? Thanks.
Hello, since some hours I'm struggling with 2 multi-value cascading parameters which default values should be always "Select ALL"
First Parameter: available vlaues: From query dataSetsGetCountry (defined as select from tblCountries) ValueFied:ContryName LabelField:CountryName DefaultValues: from Query dataSetsGetCountry ValueFied:ContryName
SecondParameter: available vlaues: From query dataSetsGetAreas (stored procedure which parameter is the list of the selected countries) ValueFied:AreaName LabelField:AreaName DefaultValues: from Query dataSetsGetAreas ValueFied:AreaName
First time I open the report the first and the second parameters are properly filled and for both parameters "select all" is checked.
I select one option from the first parameter, the second parameter's content change dinamically and "Select All" option is still selected !Cool
Now I change the selection on the first Parameter, by checking AN ANOTHER item from the list , the second parameter list refresh dinamically but "Select all" IS NOT selected and only the item that were previously checked kept the selection !!!NO!!
Is this a bug in Reporting services and I have to say to ther user that is not possible to develop what they would like to have or there is , even programmatically, a way to solve it?
I have a multivalue parameter that has X options. Is it possible to implement a solution that when I go into the report through an action, to have one option (in this case is the first) not selected all all the others are checked?
In one of my datasets, my field "Team" is a SharePoint choice column that is a checkbox, so multiple entries are in it. In my Parameter, I have it as a multiple-value, and I'm specifying the values directly in both available and default. For my filter, I have [Team] IN [@Team], which is where the problem comes in. It will only filter the results of entries that only have ONE listed in Team.
For example: One entry has "Building" in Team column which SSRS is displaying. But it will NOT display entries where "Building" and "Clerks" are displayed. I believe this is because SSRS sees this as 1 line of text, so it does not just see"Building" but "Building" and "Clerks" so it will omit it.I've tried to have my parameter set to "Get values from a query" but the problem there is the drop-down is too confusing since it interprets it as "Building" and then "Building, Clerks", and then "Building, Clerks, Economic Development' as another drop down, which defeats the purpose of the filter.
how I can get SSRS to show ALL entries that contain "Building" when I choose "Building" as a drop-down choice in my parameter? Instead of only showing ones that is Building only and dismissing other teams?
I have a report in which one parameter has with multiple selections (List of CheckBoxes). SSRS automatically adds a "Select All" value as the first option. I'm showing a User Type list, but for example, usually the user running the report will be selecting two or three sets of "User Types" (*), then I named those selections and put them in the list also. The list looks like: "Select All" IT Users (*) HR Users (*) Programmers DB Analyst... etc...
What I'm trying to do is that when the user selects "IT Users" (per example), then the options "Programmers" and "DB Analyst" will be checked automatically, because they belong to "IT Users" group.
I have a database in my "App_Data" folder of my visual studio project. I can view it fine in Visual Studio's built-in tools for managing a database attached to a solution. However i recently started playing around with the SQL Server Management Studio Express program. When i attach my database to Management Studio, and try to run my program it crashes. I think it might be a permissions error?!? When i detatch it and reattach it in visual studio it runs fine again. Any suggestions? ThanksJason
I recently installed the Evaluation Edition of SQL Server 2005 x64 and it appears that MS Visual Studio 2005 is installed in stead of SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio. When I choose new project the only template available is "Blank Solution". How do I get all the templates (i.e. Analysis Server Project, Integration Services Project, Report Model Project, Report Server Wizard project, etc.)?
Or would it be better to uninstall MS Visual Studio 2005 and attempt to reinstall BIDS?
I am new to visual studio and I am still not sure of all its components and features.
I installed visual studio 2005 standard edition but cannot find SQL Server Management Studio?
I guess this must be because it is not included with Visual studio 2005 standard. Is it included with VS 2005 professional?
I want to add pictures of products to my shopping site using an SQL database and I’ve been told that SQL Server Management studio is required as it is a graphical tool.
How would I go about obtaining the SQL server management studio. There seems to be different versions of SQL server that it is confusing to know which one to purchase.
Will the SQL server 2005 version that comes with Visual studio standard be sufficient for me now right? I want to create a shopping site with hundreds, perhaps even thousands of products. I want to use an SQL server 2005 database. The database will include ‘dynamically generated’ product images if that is the correct terminology.
My goodness, it seems I still have so much to learn.
I have created a database under management studio and i want it to be connected in visual studio but it failed the error msgs said that the database can't be connected coz the database with same name exits but that is not true
How do i get the database that i am using in visual studio into my SQL server management studio? i need to create some scripts to create stored procedures on a live server.
I have SSRS in Visual Studio. I created a query that works fine in SQL Server Management Studio, but when pasted into Visual Studio I get the error "An expression of non-boolean type specified in a context where a condition is expected, near '('.
Here is the query. Can anyone help on why this isn't working? Thanks.

When creating a dynamic parameter list from a query, Reporting Services graciously provides a "(Select All)" checkbox. How can I select this checkbox by default so that when a user generates the report, all of the values are selected?
When passing the prameter values to a linked report, I want to set one of the parameter at the linked report to "Select All", this was added automatically to the parameter list when multivalue report parameter is used . How to set this "Select All" as a parameter or can it be done? Thanks
I have a dropdown list with checkbox and when I select multiple options and search, its returning only the last selected value in the grid. Here is the code I use it for search. Designation is the column where I bind its values to the checkbox.
Hello,I am trying to construct a query across 5 tables but primarily 3tables. Plan, Provider, ProviderLocation are the three primary tablesthe other tables are lookup tables for values the other tables.PlanID is the primary in Plan andPlanProviderProviderLocationLookups---------------------------------------------PlanIDProviderIDProviderIDLookupTypePlanNamePlanIDProviderStatusLookupKeyRegionIDLastName...LookupValue....FirstName...Given a PlanID I want all the Providers with a ProviderStatus = 0I can get the query to work just fine if there are records but what Iwant is if there are no records then I at least want one record withthe Plan information. Here is a sample of the Query:SELECT pln.PlanName, pln.PlanID, l3.LookupValue as Region,p.ProviderID, p.SSNEIN, pl.DisplayLocationOnPCP,pl.NoDisplayDate, pl.ProviderStatus, pl.InvalidDate,l1.LookupValue as ReasonMain, l2.LookupValue as ReasonSub,pl.InvalidDataFROM Plans plnINNER JOIN Lookups l3 ON l3.LookupType = 'REGN'AND pln.RegionID = l3.Lookupkeyleft outer JOIN Provider p ON pln.PlanID = p.PlanIDleft outer JOIN ProviderLocation pl ON p.ProviderID = pl.ProviderIDleft outer JOIN Lookups l1 ON l1.LookupType = 'PLRM'AND pl.ReasonMain = l1.LookupKeyleft outer JOIN Lookups l2 ON l2.LookupType = 'PLX1'AND pl.ReasonSub = l2.LookupkeyWHERE pln.PlanID = '123456789' AND pl.ProviderStatus = 0ORDER BY p.PlanID, p.ProviderID, pl.SiteLocationNumI know the problew the ProviderStatus on the Where clause is keepingany records from being returned but I'm not good enough at this toanother select. Can anybody give me some suggestions?ThanksDavid
I'm very confused. I installed Visual Studio 2005 and thought I understood that SQL Server 2005 came with it, but it appears that it's SQL Server 2005 - Express. Can anyone tell me what I need to do in order to get Data Transformation Services loaded or the equivalent of DTS in SQL Express?
Of all the Visual Basic.NET data access books that I have purchased and all the Internet site example code that I have reviewed, none have had any good examples of multi-threaded VB.NET code doing data access.
I am trying to avoid the non-responsiveness in a VB app while a simple data retrieval from SQL Server 2005 is in progress.
If anyone knows of any book titles or web sites that have example code (good or not) of multi-threaded VB.NET applications doing data access against Microsoft SQL Server (7, 2000, or 2005) or even against Microsoft Access(TM), it would be very much appreciated if you could provide the book title or URL to point me in the right direction.
I have a dataadapter on my asp.net page and am having issues passing values to the sql statement. See below:
SELECT tblTemp.SensorID, tblSensor.SensorNum, tblTemp.TempTime, tblTemp.TempVal FROM tblTemp INNER JOIN tblSensor ON tblTemp.SensorID = tblSensor.SensorID WHERE (tblTemp.TempTime BETWEEN @From AND @To) AND (tblTemp.SensorID IN (@Sensor)) ORDER BY tblTemp.TempTime
@Sensor is populated in vb with the selected values from a checkboxlist control. I attempted to test this in the "Data Adapter Preview" window, but continually get an error. Is there a way to pass multiple values to a parameter? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I and trying to get some help with Multi-Value parameters in Reporting Services 2005 in VS 2005. I’m new to the product and struggling with the TSQL syntax.
(I have simplified my SQL statement for the purposes of this question) I have a dataset below which has 1 parameter;
="SELECT * " & " FROM dbo.Table" & Iif(Parameters!Sex.Value = "ALL",""," AND dbo.Table.Sex = '" & Parameters!Sex.Value &"'" )
The Sex parameter dataset contains F, M, U and ALL – the above parameter allows me to select on any of the 4 options. I would like to use the multi-value parameter but am struggling to grasp the syntax. Believe me I have tried a few things.
Could someone provide me with an idiots guide on how to make my basic parameter a multi-value parameter?
Greetings - I see a few postings regarding problems regarding multi-value parameters, and see no solution responses.
Am attempting to filter on data using a multiple values drop-down parameter. Dataset has been created and runs correctly. The Multi-value parameter setting has been checked. When report is run and 1 value selected from drop-down, report runs fine. If multiples (or all) are selected, then receive "Query execution failed for dataset "mydataset" incorrect syntax near ','" error.
Can someone please advise a solution to this? Tks & B/R
Hi every body! I have two reports ,in first i have one multi value parameter .in first report i select more than one value ,then in second report i want to have these values becuse i have another multi value parameter ,when i join these reports via navigation in parameters (in first report) i put the values of multi value parameter in fisrt report for value of multi value parameter in second report, but in this case fore example i have it: in first reprt-> navigation->parameters-> ParameterName ParameterVaue EmployeeID =Parameters!EmployeeID.Value(0)
but in second report i need all of my selections in first report not just first value
I know that there have been a number of Posts with reference to Multi-Value Parameters, but none have helped me resolve my issue.
I am relatively new to SSRS, and use it in it's simplist form. i.e. I do not use xml code or SQL Statements, I just use the Menus.
I have created a Multi-Value Parameter (Report > Report Parameters) and have assigned a number of Non Queried Labels and Values. I have also assigned this to the Filter Tab via Table Properties.
When previewing, if I select each parameter individually and view the Report everything is fine. If I select one or more, the report only returns values for the first parameter listed.
Have I missed a step, is there a bug or do I just need to be trainied to use SQL Statements? (Hopefully not the latter!!)
I'm using a sql server Stored Procedure, that uses a defined parameter to pull the records. How can i make this stored procedure a multi value parameter. I select multi value in report parameters, and changed the where clause to "IN" but its still not working, when i select more then one parameter from the drop down list. Here is my stored procedure.
