Hey guys - I need your help. We are using SQL Server 2000- which version do you think we should upgrade to. Also, wondering if you tried any Open Source data base and any thoughts on those. Thanks guys for your help - Mark Smith

Dear All,
please correct me if i'm going in a wrong way.
i need to upgrade my sql server2000 ent to 2005 standard edition.
1) i'm installing seperatly on the same server, and later i'l stop the service of sql server 2000 then detach the databases later attach in sqlserver 2005, then change the compatiability level to 90.
now my doubt is can i install 2005 with the same instance name of 2000?
after finishing the installation, is there anything to change at application or automatically it connects to 2005 instance? please let me know
thank you very much
