Use GETDATE() To Return System Date When Checkbox Column Is Checked
Jul 14, 2006
Hi, I need to return the system date to a column when a checkbox in another column becomes true, e.g. the instant a user updates a table where checkbox.value = 'true' it will record the date that it happened in another column.
I have a page for inventory price entry that I have used for a while. Now I need to add a checkbox for whether or not the price includes shipping. I added the checkbox to the form and had it posting 'True' or 'False' to the database as nchar(10) data type. When the gridview pulls up the data, I have the Item Template like this, so it shows a disabled checkbox either checked or not: <asp:CheckBox ID="CheckBox2" runat="server" Checked='<%# Convert.ToBoolean(Eval("Shipping")) %>' Enabled="False" /> This works fine for displaying the values, but I copied the checkbox to the Edit Item Template, but did not disabled this one. At first, I didn't change the databindings, leaving it Convert.ToBoolean(Eval("Shipping")), which allowed me to go into Edit mode, change the checkbox, then click update. At which point it would return to it's original state (meaning Update wasn't actually updating). However if I change the databindings, then the page won't display. I checked the SQL statement, and sure enough, it has theUpdateCommand="UPDATE [PartsTable] ... SET [Shipping] = @Shipping... WHERE [PartID] = @original_PartIDAfter fiddling with the sql statement, now I get Object cannot be cast from DBNull to other types. I think that means that the checkbox is sending a null value to the database.Any insight as to how to get this to work is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
This is the code I have written and I am trying to retrieve minimum count of PQpageId for every hour for a given date of range.
WITH CTE AS ( SELECT PQIM.PQPageID ,PQIM.PageURL as PageDescription ,CONVERT(Date,NCPI.RequestDateTime) AS [Date] ,DATEPART(HOUR,NCPI.RequestDateTIme) AS [HOUR] ,ISNULL (COUNT(NCPI.PQPageID),0)AS HourlyPQPageIdCount FROM dbo.NewCarPurchaseInquiries AS NCPI WITH (NOLOCK)
For ex: Pqpageid 1, at 8am on date 4-11-2015 has a count of 2359 and on 9-11-2015 at 8 am it has count 54then it should return date 9-11-2015 and count 54 for hour 8 like wise for every pageid and hour from 8 to 23 it should return the min count from given date of range.
i have a quite strange condition...when i add some value in database with getdate() function it only returns date and minute not the seconds...does somebody have an experience about this
Hello,Our QA team have running a lot of test scripts (for automated regressiontesting), they run them on the different databases (Oracle/MS SQL).Several of those tests are dependent on the current date/time. In order tobeable to use them efficiently, we changed the current date/time on the QAdatabase server to a specific date/time before starting the scripts, so weare sure the test scripts always run in the same environment.Resetting the date/time of the database server gives us more and moreproblems (OS problems, backup/ virusscan, ...).It is possible to fix the problem with SYSDATE function on Oracle by settingFIXED_DATE init parameter. Is it possible to 'change' the current date/time on 'database' level, instead of on OS level for MSSQL2000?Do you know other means to do such things? Thanks in advance,Konstantin
On my page I am using a wizard control with textboxes to collect data from the visitor. When they click the finish button - this inserts their data into a Sql database.
On the form is a checkbox. I dont know what type to use in the database column to accept this and also how to configure the checkbox on the page so I know if its checked.
Also what would be inserted into the database column "yes" "no" or a numerical value??
hi, I have a question regarding calling sql table columns dynamically? workflow would go as:1. user enters search term into a textbox2. user checks a checkbox to search by column in sqldb (eg.. firstname or surname) pseudo sql would go like......SELECT +%column1(checkbox1.value)%+ OR +%column2(checkbox2.value)%+ OR +%column3(checkbox3.value)%+WHERE column1 = +%TextBox.Text%+ OR column2 = +%TextBox.Text%+ 3. display results in gridview my sql needs to improve greatly so any code insight(good book or link) would be terrific . thanks
In one of my datasets, my field "Team" is a SharePoint choice column that is a checkbox, so multiple entries are in it. In my Parameter, I have it as a multiple-value, and I'm specifying the values directly in both available and default. For my filter, I have [Team] IN [@Team], which is where the problem comes in. It will only filter the results of entries that only have ONE listed in Team.
For example: One entry has "Building" in Team column which SSRS is displaying. But it will NOT display entries where "Building" and "Clerks" are displayed. I believe this is because SSRS sees this as 1 line of text, so it does not just see"Building" but "Building" and "Clerks" so it will omit it.I've tried to have my parameter set to "Get values from a query" but the problem there is the drop-down is too confusing since it interprets it as "Building" and then "Building, Clerks", and then "Building, Clerks, Economic Development' as another drop down, which defeats the purpose of the filter.
how I can get SSRS to show ALL entries that contain "Building" when I choose "Building" as a drop-down choice in my parameter? Instead of only showing ones that is Building only and dismissing other teams?
i want to use the date part of the function getdate in my sql query. the getdate function return the current date and time. i want only the date part. how can i do it.
Hi. I have a stored procedure that looks for events on the current date. I tried using GETDATE() but i realized that is looking for the current date AND time. how can i use this to find only the current date? thanks a bunch for your help!
I'm new to T-SQL and trying out my queries using the SQL Query Analyzer.
What I intend to do is to retrieve records based on current date. The field is Trans_R.Tr_Date, of type nvarchar(255) and the data inside the field is formatted as yyyymmdd.
My Q's are:
1. Where should I put the WHERE statement at?
2. Is there any other way to work around this problem without resorting to converting the Trans_R.Tr_Date field to Datetime datatype beforehand?
3. I tried using Getdate function as part of the WHERE statement but nothing comes out. Would this WHERE statement work (or make sense)?
WHERE Trans_R.Tr_date = getdate()
Please advise and thanks in advance.
------------- START OF CODE -------------
SELECT Cards.card_number,Trans_R.Tr_Date,Trans_R.staff_nu mber, MIN(Trans_R.Tr_In) AS Actual_Time_In, MAX(Trans_R.Tr_Out) AS Actual_Time_Out,
'Status'= CASE WHEN MIN(Trans_R.Tr_In) IS NULL THEN 'ABSENT' WHEN MIN(Trans_R.Tr_In) < 171500 THEN 'ATTEND' ELSE 'ABSENT' END,
'Late Time' = CASE WHEN (MIN(Tr_In) - 080000> 0) THEN (MIN(Tr_In) - 080000) ELSE '' END,
FROM Trans_R INNER JOIN Cards ON Trans_R.Staff_Number = Cards.Staff_Number GROUP BY Cards.card_number,trans_r.staff_Number,Trans_R.Tr_ Date
SELECT Payment_Date FROM dbo.tbl_PaymentDt WHERE Payment_Date BETWEEN '08/06/2002' AND '08/07/2002'
In the table, Payment_Date is stored as default value getdate(). The above query results in the records for '08/06/2002' only, even if the records are present for '08/07/2002'. This problem is probably due to the format in which date is stored. Here date is stored along with time.
Pl tell me the work around so that when dates are compared, time is ignored.
Pl tell me a function available in SQl which only give date minus time from a field stored as GetDate().
I would like to make the column heading to be the current year for the Sales I'm adding below.
SELECT dbo.QIVSalesMTDYTDCustSalesPerson.slspsn_no,dbo.arslmfil_SQL.slspsn_name, SUM(CASE WHEN year(getdate()) = qivsalesmtdytdcustsalesperson.year THEN Sales END) AS convert(varchar(4),year(getdate())) FROM dbo.QIVSalesMTDYTDCustSalesPerson INNER JOIN dbo.arslmfil_SQL ON dbo.QIVSalesMTDYTDCustSalesPerson.slspsn_no = dbo.arslmfil_SQL.humres_id GROUP BY dbo.QIVSalesMTDYTDCustSalesPerson.slspsn_no, dbo.arslmfil_SQL.slspsn_name
What I have now gives me incorrect syntax near keyword convert.
For inserting current date and time into the database, is it more efficient and performant and faster to do getDate() inside SQL Server and insert the value OR to do System.DateTime.Now in the application and then insert it in the table? I figure even small differences would be magnified if there is moderate traffic, so every little bit helps. Thanks.
Hi all--I've got a derived column transformation where I am adding a field called Import_Date. I'm telling it to add as a new column and use the function "GetDate()" to populate the field. When I run the package, it returns NULL as the data value for all rows. Any idea why this might be happening?
i have written a sql function which returns only number of working days (excludes holidays and Weekends) between given StartDate and EndDate.
USE [XXX] GO /****** Object: UserDefinedFunction [dbo].[CalculateNumberOFWorkDays] Script Date: 10/28/2015 10:20:25 AM ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO
[code]...
I need a function or stored procedure which will return the date which is 15 working days (should exclude holidays and Weekends) prior to the given future Date? the future date should be passed as a parameter to this function or stored procedure to return the date. Example scenario: If i give date as 12/01/2015, my function or stored procedure should return the date which is 15 working days (should exclude holidays and Weekends) prior to the given date i.e 12/01/2015...In my application i have a table tblMasHolidayList where all the 2015 year holidays dates and info are stored.
I have a query to run a report where the results has a column named “Due Date” which holds a date value based on the project submission date. Now, I need to add 4 columns named, “45 Days Expectant”, “30 Days Overdue”, “60 Days Overdue” and “90 Days Overdue”.I need to do a calculation based on the “Due Date” and “System (I mean default computer date) Date” that if “System Date” is 45 days+ to “Due Date” than put “Yes” in “45 Days Expectant” row.
Also, if “Due Date” is less than or equal to system date by 30 days, put “Yes” in “30 Days Overdue” and same for the 60 and 90 days.how to write this Case Statement? I have some answers how to do it in SSRS (Report Designer) but I want to get the results using T-SQl.
I'm currently using the SQL to find records older than todays date in the SSD_SED field. I'm having to update the date manually each day. Is there a way I can automate this?
I am trying to catch the @retval which is returned finally after executing sp_update_schedule stored procedure (o or 1) but i cannot catch the final resultIf i put Print statement just before the return (@retval), then i am seeing 0 as output but i want to catch that value when i execute the SP with the parameters. How can i do that?? same thing with all other system stored procedures.thanks alot in advance....if you want more info on this Q, plz let me know
I'm using some files to show certain pages on certain date for an example
File name : aa.doc start date: 10/02/00 end date : 10/03/00
But it expires on 10/02/00, here is the strored procedure:
Before the date comes, it expires the page Here is my stored procedure:
" SELECT startdate, enddate, archivedate and (startdate is null or (getdate() >= startdate and getdate() <= enddate)) and (archivedate is null or (getdate() <= archivedate)) group by startdate, enddate order by startdate desc "
I'm working on a social network where I store my friend GUIDs in a table with the following structure:user1_guid user2_guidI am trying to write a query to return a single list of all a users' friends in a single column. Depending on who initiates the friendship, a users' guid value can be in either of the two columns. Here is the crazy sql I have come up with to give what I want, but I'm sure there's a better way... Any ideas?SELECT DISTINCT UserIdFROM espace_ProfilePropertyWHERE (UserId IN (SELECT CAST(REPLACE(CAST(user1_guid AS VarChar(36)) + CAST(user2_guid AS VarChar(36)), @userGuid, '') AS uniqueidentifier) AS UserId FROM espace_UserConnection WHERE (user1_guid = @userGuid) OR (user2_guid = @userGuid))) AND (UserId IN (SELECT UserId FROM espace_ProfileProperty))
What im looking to do is put a checkbox on my page and if the box is checked have it add a where clause to the sql statement. The most i have seen with selectparameters is for it to basically take the value of the given control (or whatever) and dump it in to a query. In this case what i would like to do is if the box is not checked it has my basic query run Select * from Table and if the box is checked i would like it to run Select * from table where status='completed' basically a check box that shows only completed items. wasnt sure if i could do this with just the sqldatasource control and some selectparameters or if i had to write some code. Thanks Justin
Is their a data type that can be a 'check' (On or Off)? I seen this data type somewhere but forgor how to use it and what it looks like. Can anyone help. :)
I have a table of magazine issues. The table are defined as below:
issueID int Unchecked name varchar(50) Unchecked title varchar(100) Checked description varchar(500) Checked crntIssue bit Checked archived bit Checked navOrder int Checked dateCreate datetime Checked
And here is what I want. Is there a way when inserting/updating or on the table itself to make sure that there is only one record that is marked as the current issue? The way I have it here in my table, any records can have the current issue (crntIssue) field checked. I only want one crntIssue field checked regardless of how many records or issues are in the table. If there is no way to automatically have SQL Server to manage that then that means I must check all the records before hand before the update/insert query, correct?
Column1 in table 1 has a range from 1 to 5 (int) A CheckboxList displays these 5 items. When checked (for example 1 and 4) I want a gridview with sqldatasource=sqlProducts to display the records where column1 values 1 or 4. When I use the code below I only get the records where column1 values 1.... <asp:SQLDataSource id="sqlProducts" Runat="Server" SelectCommand="Select * From Table1 where Column1 IN (@CBLchecked_items)" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:pubs %>"> <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter Name="CBLchecked_items" ControlID="CBL" propertyname="SelectedValue" type="String" /> </SelectParameters></asp:SQLDataSource>
