Aug 4, 2015My Windows 10 is in Turkish so some folder descriptions my differ from the English one! I'm using a folder in D (Windows 10 installed on C) named as Downloads to secure my downloaded files incase of a format or etc and changed the location of the Windows Downloads folder by simply right clicking the folder and choosing the Properties > Location in C:User[my username]
But in the start menu (which i enabled the view of Downloads folder from Control Panel>Personalizations>Start>Choose which folders ll be shown>Downloads "ON") when i click on Downloads it says "This shorcut doesnt work............... Do you want to delete the shortcut?"
How can i correct this error?

2. A desktop shortcut to Cortana works.
3. The start menu Cortana shortcut launches Store (it was working at some point..)
Win 10 is now running... well, actually quite smoothly- as far as I know, this is the only oddity (until I turn over another stone..)
I normally use Classic shell, and don't use Cortana. However, having found changing settings has disrupted Cortana, I sometimes check- I feel I've seen a comment about this somewhere.
I tried this:
For Cortana

I don't know to replace the shortcut in the Win 10 start menu, given I have one on the desktop..

Jan 10, 2016So I upgraded to Windows 10 and so far everything seems to be working fine however the one problem I've had is a problem with the icons for Google Chrome and Origin on the start menu. The Chrome icon is really over sized compared to what it should be and is on a black background and the Origin icon has a black background. I've looked everywhere online and can't find a solution, I don't really want to reinstall Google Chrome, I reinstalled origin and it didn't fix it.

Also even though I've tried updating it, chrome still looks like the windows 7 version than the windows 10.

Feb 23, 2016I originally wanted to completely disable the UAC as the admin permission messages that popped for almost any/everything i wanted to do were very annoying. I dont remember exactly what i did, but it was something in gpedit or something similar to it. After i did that my windows store app stopped working, and appeared as a blank space in my task bar as it was still pinned there. As the store wasnt working, apps related to it like the calculator disappeared from my pc. They dont appear when i search for them, and links to DL ones from the store dont work either.
I tried the guide here Apps - Reinstall and Re-register in Windows 8 and 10 - Windows 10 Forums and did step 2, but that managed to break powershell and make it disappear as well as disabling my task bar and start menu. I cant right click anything in my task bar, and can only use the start menu's right click menu.

WIN + I or trying to open update from Win + R doesn't work (message "the app didn't open"). Clicking the search doesn't work. Clicking the windows (to the right of search) works.

Today during restart I got message that app "Elera" (or something like that) was preventing restart. After restarting I couldn't find this app in the start menu or in Control Panel Progs and Features! I did find a McAfee app in the Start Menu, but it was not in Control Panel list.

Aug 25, 2015Updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 two weeks ago.
Had problems with Firefox. Tried to download to replace existing Firefox. CNET site appeared to be correct but something seemed wrong so I killed the download. But.
- The windows start menu doesn't come up when I click on the icon, but if I right-click, a text menu does appear and lets me, for example, shut down.
.- If I click on the Windows End icon in the task bar, the screen flashes but End does not come up. Ditto for the Windows Store icon.
- Somewhere SpyBot S&D was erased, but I was able to download it.
- If I double-click on a photo in Windows Explorer, I get a popup that lists the name of the jpeg and says Invalid Entry to Registry. If I right click on the photo and go to any of the options the photo is opened except if I choose Photo.
- Firefox cannot properly display the Yahoo mail page, though Pale Moon and Opera can.
- I have Avast Anti-Virus and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and when I run their scans, they find no issues.

Nov 9, 2015I tried finding a list of all the shortcut commands from the Start Menu, but I do not see one anywhere.
For example, I already know by typing "winver", I go directly to the version information screen. When I type "reli", I head straight to the reliability monitor.
With a left pinky Windows key action, these commands can be extremely powerful, yet I suspect they are underutilized by the vast majority of Windows users. Only a few superusers are adept at using them.

Jul 30, 2015I use Adobe After Effects, which I often need to run multiple copies of using the -m switch. Windows 7 let me modify the shortcut in the start menu so it'd start with this switch, which if AE is already running means it'll launch a new instance of it, rather than switching to the instance I've already got open. However, in Win10 I can't find any way to do this - it has the same behaviour that launching AE from the task bar in Win7 did, ie it just switches to the already open instance. Is there a way to add the switch I need?
Just dragged it onto the desktop as a shortcut, and interestingly there's no option to add the switch there either (in Properties)..
EDIT: I can create a shortcut with the switch in Program Files (or presumably elsewhere on the C drive), but right-clicking and choosing "Pin to Start" seems to remove that switch. It opens a second copy when I launch the shortcut from Program Files, but not from Start.
Apps :: UTorrent - Running Out Of Memory
Aug 18, 2015I'm using a validated copy of Windows 10 and I was using uTorrent today and suddenly I got a message that it ran out of memory. I've used uTorrent with Windows 10 quite a few times with no problem whatsoever. I tried deleting the torrent and then I tried another one. It was a little large at 3.5gb, so I tried another file around that same range, and it did the same thing. I've tried rebooting, I've tried changing the virtual memory and I get the same thing.
When you open up Task Manager, it shows the memory slowly shoot up to about 1.5GB and it just stops responding and then shuts down. I have 16GB of RAM, but I don't understand why all of sudden, it started shutting down.
As of right now, it seems to be OK, but I d/led uTorrent Portable and I still don't know if it's going to work, because before that I tried d/ling Bittorrent and it did the same thing. Bittorrent looks exactly like uTorrent, I think uTorrent owns Bittorrent or vice versa.
Taskbar And Start Menu Properties Have No Start Menu Tab Anymore?

As you can see, despite its name, it does not have a tab for "Start Menu". I remember that Preview versions of Windows 10 had a "Start Menu" tab. Did they just remove at the last moment? And how I change Start Menu options without that tab?
Desktop Shortcut To Display Alphabetic Menu For All Apps
Feb 23, 2016I have seen several threads where people want to remove this feature but in my case it is actually easier to use than scrolling down through 10 to 20 pages of programs listed by letter to get to "X" for "Xcopy+" for example. Is there a way to make a desktop shortcut one-click to access the All-Apps alphabetic 'list-by-letter' menu? If I could, i would make that my default Display option when clicking All Apps in the Start Menu.

Jul 24, 2015I would like to organize my All Apps portion of the start menu in W10 as I did in W7.
So far I have not figured out how to do this. There are a couple of problems.
1. Some programs just do not appear. I have one folder containing 3 shtcts. 2 appear and Uninstall does not. I believe another instance of an Uninstall shtct does appear, so I don't think MS is just eliminating Uninstall shtcts. All the files are in the actual Start menu folder seen with FE.
2. Any folders under the first folder in the Start menu do not appear but the files under them do. So everything is mashed together.

Nov 30, 2015I have tried creating a folder in every known location to get an additional folder to show up in the start menu so I can throw some games and what not under it..I've tried creating a folder named "Games" in the following:
C:ProgramData
C:UsersmynameAppDataLocal
C:Program Files
C:Program Files (x86)
C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms
Apparently the 0-Z list doesn't read any of these directories, but I am baffled that my Nvidia driver created a folder and it shows up under "N" just fine...I'm assuming this is some type of regedit but I have no clue where to begin.

Aug 19, 2015I've got a clean install version of Windows 10 10240 on my machine. The store Icon recently changed from the all white minimal version to the one shown in the image attached. The background color changes with the theme. I've run the SFC /scannow command and found no errors. Additionally, I've cleared the Icon cache using the instructions at the link below.

Windows Start Button On Taskbar Doesn't Work With Left-click
Jan 15, 2016I have four computers running Win10. On two of them the windows "Start" button on the task bar doesn't work. So I can't get to Settings or Apps. I can right click on the Start button and get the "right-click menu". All of the other task bar buttons work.
What's going on with this? It used to work. For a while it didn't work on my laptop, now that is working but on two other desktop computers it doesn't work. All computers have same Win10 version and latest updates (although hardware differs some between them).
Can I add the "Settings" and "All Apps" shortcut I would normally get left-clicking on the Start button to the Start button's "right-click menu"?
