Sleep Mode Doesn't Work Right Nor Does It Wake Up
Jul 29, 2015Came across my first major problem. When I try to go into sleep mode (either through the Start menu or pressing the power button), the hard drive light blinks for a second then the screen goes black. BUT... my power light stays on (should be blinking) and pressing it again, the mouse button... nor any key press on the keyboard will wake it up. I had to hard shutdown (holding the power key down for like 5 seconds) for the light go off and had to keep rebooting from scratch.
That's a major pain since waking up out of sleep mode is normally much faster and convenient. To make things worse.... it seems like 10 takes longer to boot up from scratch than 8.1 did. I've yet to see if SHUTDOWN works properly or not. Not a happy camper on the sleep mode issue. It worked under 8.1 just fine.
EDIT: Shutdown goes through a longer process, but ends the same as sleep does...... The power light stays on.
I'm using an HP Envy w/ i7-4510u CPU / 8GB RAM / 4GB Nvidia GTX 850M / 1TB drive
EDIT#2: Now SLEEP and SHUTDOWN appear to be working properly and Windows 10's boot up times are as fast or faster than 8.1 now. It's like a car and trying to clear out the lines of bad fuel before it runs right. Just some weird hiccups.

Jul 29, 2015I upgraded to Windows 10 and now I cannot wake up my computer from sleep mode. With Windows 7 and 8.1 all I had to do was tap any key and the computer would wake up. Now that doesn't work. I have to press and hold down the power button to force a shut down and then restart. This problem only appeared after I installed Windows 10. How can I fix it?

Oct 6, 2015I have an HP pavilion g6 notebook laptop computer. I have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had occasion to put my computer to sleep! I had been working on my college courses for a few hours, when I needed to take a break. I put my system to sleep, but when I returned to complete my assignments my computer would not turn on! It went to an off black screen, and locked up! When at sleep the power indicater blinked, which indicates that it was in sleep mode.
When I tried to awaken my Pavillion it locked up, and the only way to regain control was to manually force it to shut down (i.e. hooded power button down.) thinking this may be due to system clutter I cleaned both user disc & system files using the Windows disk cleaning function, found through the control panel, looked for both HP updates, and Windows updates.
Later I again tried to awaken my machine after putting it to sleep, and had a repeat in the inability to awaken it! A third and the last time I tried to awaken my PC from sleep I noticed that for some reason, and somehow the indicator light was solid, the screen black, and I heard my computers fan running!

All was fine until I attempted to wake the computer from sleep mode recently and got the following error.
An operating system was not found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system
Press Ctrl+Atl+Del to restart
I disconnected the two external drives I had connected and tried again with the same result.
On startup, I've hit F12 to run through the Dell ePSA Pre-boot system assessment and it passes all the tests System, Cables, OS boot Path, Hard drive, cd rom drive, video card, cpu fan, system fan processor and memory.
I have the original 7, 64 bit installation disks, but nothing for Windows 10. What's the best way to get this thing going again?

Mar 10, 2016Laptop does not wake up from sleep when either power button, keyboard buttons or mouse touchpad are pressed. A forced reboot is always required. HDD light off, monitor stays black and battery light and fan still on.
Have had this problem for over a week since downloading and using Advanced SystemCare and Driver Booster. Once the problem occured I uninstalled them but nothing changed. Also there was a few recent windows updates at beginning of March but haven't read anywhere that they are causing similar problems. Have tried the obvious fixes but nothing seems to work.

Won't Wake Up From Sleep
Jul 31, 2015I downloaded windows 10 yesterday and everything seemed to be working fine. However, every time I shut my computer, it's supposed to go into sleep mode from which a shake of the mouse will wake it. It is indeed going to sleep, but I can't wake it through any interaction with the mouse or keyboard. The power light is still on, indicating that the computer is sleeping, but I can't get it to wake up. I have had to hold the power button to turn it off and then on and I'm pretty sure that's terrible for my computer to not shut down properly.

Oct 8, 2015After an upgrade to Windows 10, my HP Compaq 6005 Pro Small Form Factor will not wake up properly from sleep. After sleep, if I press a key on the keyboard or press the power button, I hear the fan and hard drive start up, and the monitor goes from completely off to on yet black. (I can see a small difference, and the monitor reports that it receives a signal.) But nothing happens, including when I press various key combinations such as those which would cause rebooting. Sometimes my mouse pointer is visible but usually not. If so, the pointer will not move. If I hold down the power button, killing the power supply, and the press the power button again, the computer wakes up (not rebooting) to the condition it was before.
As a history, this machine had a clean Windows 7 install, then a Windows 10 upgrade, then a Windows 10 clean install.
[I have a vague memory that the computer originally went to sleep and woke up OK a few times, and now doesn't. However, my memory could be wrong.]
I have tried:
* all Windows updates
* using HP website for all relevant updates, including BIOS
* display adapter (graphics card) update
* Windows Power Usage Troubleshooter
* turning hibernation off and on again in the command line (powercfg /h off and on)

Sep 24, 2015PC wakes every night at 11:36. I have disabled the wake for anything feature and I cannot figure this out. Based on settings its not supposed to wake up. Is there something buried that I need to change or is this just a win 10 flaw?

Aug 9, 2015I hear the computer turn back on and the light is on, but the screen is still black. My mouse and keyboard are unresponsive (can't turn backlight on). I have to do a hard shut down. When it's back on, it's like it woke up from sleep mode, not a fresh restart.
This just started happening today I think so I did a system restore, but the problem persists. The only thing I remember doing today was updating my ATI drivers.
Wake From Sleep - Laptop Reboots Itself
Jan 27, 2016I have an Asus Ultrabook, UX302L. It came with windows 8 from the factory, I upgraded it to windows 10, all nice and wonderful. About a month ago, I replaced my HDD with an Samsung 850 Evo SSD and I installed a clean copy of Windows 10 which I activated with my windows 8 key. All good till here. But after that my nightmare started:
I can't put my laptop to sleep, because when I try to wake it up it restarts instead, and I lose all my documents, programs started before, etc.
I tried to install a older Intel Management Engine because I found out that the last one is buggy (and it is, I can't even put my computer to hubernate with it, the fans just keep running till it drains my battery, but with the IME 9ish at least hibernation work), I tried to disable fast boot, to install an older version of the integrated intel graphics card driver, tried to put my HDD's to never sleep, disabled hybrid sleep, set the AHCI link power management to HIMP/DIMP, etc.....
Can't Wake From Sleep - Have To Reboot Every Time

I was on 8.1 but did a clean install following the guides on the forums and it worked great. Only issue I had was with the Synaptics settings that keeps resseting after reboot but sorted that out.
Now for some reason 90% of the time my laptop goes to sleep I can only get it to work again by rebooting via power button. I have tried various guides on the forum (disabled fast boot, hybernation, etc) but nothing seems to work. If it does work, it only last a couple of hours at best. I have also noticed that the laptop does not always shut down fully...
I have just done a reset again (did a clean install yesterday) and left the laptop on for about 30-45 minutes and it goes to sleep and I can't wake it. I left everything default to rule out any possible changes I could have made to the settings.I am wondering if it's the iso I got from Microsoft website when I did the install...

Aug 10, 2015It was working fine with Windows 7. I upgraded to 10, and it won't wake up. I have to hold down the power button till the computer shuts off and start it up again.
I went to Dell support, updated all drivers, no luck.

Upgraded Desktop Will Not Wake From Sleep
Feb 10, 2016I have a 4 yr old custom built desktop upgraded from Win 7 pro to Win 10 pro about 8 months ago. Up until two weeks ago the sleep/wake up has worked perfect. Now the unit will not wake from sleep. I have tried everything I have seen and nothing has worked. It has to be booted from sleep. I have now set sleep time to never and will shut the unit down at night rather than letting it go to sleep.
