Feb 10, 2016Upgraded both our Desktop & Laptop to Windows 10 in the past few months. Last week I tried to access some Outlook emails that were more than two years old, the attachments & emoticons do not appear. This is on both PC's & the same result using Edge, IE or Chrome.
I installed Windows Live Mail & now I can see all the attachments & emoticons. Forwarded some of the emails from Live Mail to myself & now in Outlook the attachments/emoticons all appear as well (all three browser Edge, IE & Chrome). So say for instance I have a 2 & 1/2 year old email in a Outlook folder that will not display attachments/emoticons but the very same email just forwarded from Live Mail to my Outlook inbox now displays all attachments & emoticons
Tried inspecting elements. See msgs regarding HTML, Java Script in Edge? Don't have either Java or Silverlight installed, guess the newer browsers are moving towards HTML.

Nov 17, 2015I am just about to convert my main machine to Windows 10 from 7. In 7 I use the Outlook part of Office 2013. I have developed a method of keeping my mail in subfolders of the Inbox.
I have tried to create subfolders in the Inbox of the Mail app but cannot see how to. Is it possible or whether I should examine alternative mail apps. Office 2013 runs quite happily in Win10 but I am not about to pay for Office 2016 or Office365 yet.
Browser/Email :: Link All Mail Into One Inbox
Apr 14, 2016If you want to link all your mail into one inbox you can do it.
Open Mail either from all App or Taskbar if you have it set up that way
Once open click on Settings found in bottom Right Hand Corner
Then go to Manage Account
Click on any Mail you have there like
Outlook
Gmail
Etc
Then click Link Inboxes
Tick which Inboxes you want to link
Also you can Name the link to anything you want to
Once done Click Save
Now when you receive Mail from any of your contact etc
It will now come into one Inbox
Have done it and it does work
This saves you having to click on each Mail inbox
If you want to revert back just
Click on the inbox linked untick
Press Save and they are all back showing one by one

Feb 23, 2016I am having trouble configuring Outlook 2010 on a new Windows 10 Pro clean install so that mail from multiple Gmail and Comcast accounts all go into 1 PST file. I would like to have 1 inbox for all 5 email accounts.
Even when I use "Manually configure Server settings" and specify an existing PST on D:Outlook, Outlook creates a new PST file on C:Users(My Username)AppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook.
Commas In Number
Feb 10, 2016I've only recently upgraded to Windows 10 in the last couple of days. I've tried to fill out a form on a webpage using Chrome and Explorer Edge and every time I type a number, it changes and inserts a comma. I've tried to change the separation in the control panel but it still doesn't stop.

Oct 20, 2015I am trying to install a generic text printer onto a windows 10 tablet but when the printer is paired through Bluetooth the Com port it is using is way beyond the normal Com port numbers.
After the printer is paired I would normally add a local/networked printer and select the same port as the Bluetooth device, when this is in the range 1-4 that is fine, but (due to repeated attempts) it is now up at Com19
I have looked online and found articles for Windows7 talking about uninstalling the un-used Com ports (that windows thinks are being used) but I'm not sure how to reach the same areas in Windows 10
I have so far tried the following:
1. turning it off and on again
2. using device manager, view ports, under the view menu setting 'Show hidden devices' but I can only see the two latest ports (19/20)
3. I have looked at the properties of port 19 and tried to change the port number, but this is where it says all ports from 1-18 are in use.
4. I have tried to follow win7 instructions that directed my to advanced system properties and the environmental variables/system variables - this section I can't find in windows 10 ....
The only other option seems to be hacking the registry, which I will now look at....

Dec 12, 2015I have an email address, let's say it's tomjones@yahoo.com. Well in Windows 10, almost any time I try to type it, whether on my yahoo email or on any webpage, it comes out tomjones8@yahoo.com. At first I thought maybe I was accidentally hitting the 8 and adding it in myself, but now I'm very careful when I type it and it's like Windows auto-corrects it to that.
I may have once typed that into a form- I sometimes do just add a number onto my real email when I'm filling something out and want to make a dummy email, but it's like now Windows has decided that is my true email. It's causing serious problems because now if I ever miss that auto-correct it's done, I may send someone a bad email address. I read about turning off auto-correct and I don't want to do that, I just want it to recognize that tomjones@yahoo.com is valid.

Aug 10, 2015Why the specified network password is not correct? My password is CORRECT!! It's a good password and the only password used on these computers. When I try to network from my win 10 laptop to win 10 desktop I get this error message? I went to Control Panel Networking and troubleshooted and it said I didn't have permission to network. Yet I had no trouble when I was working the same computers in win 8.1 and win 7. There has been no change in networking procedure in win 10 which worked well in win 7 and 8.1.

I have been able to "successfully" boot the CD Drive into UEFI mode to install Windows 10 onto my new 4TB SSHD, but I run into the error were it stats that the partitions are not in the recommended order, when the ONLY partitions on the disk are the primary and the "protective MBR" before it at slot 0. Now, when I am in windows for the first time everything seems fine, but as soon as I restart after doing basic setup, I run into an issue where I cannot browse any partitions (I try to open "This PC", but it acts like it is indexing indefinitely and I never see the drive listing).
It looks like Windows 10 may not be appropriately setting the order for the partitions. the moment I left my original installation on my 1TB HHD intact, so that I can still have an operating PC, and find out some info on this.
Windows Not Logging Into Correct Account
Mar 5, 2016Here lately when I start my Surface instead of auto signing in like normal, I get an error saying Couldn't connect to network, please try again, or something along those lines. However, it was trying to login to a random account under my name, not my normal user account. This account doesn't appear under Users and Computers either so I'm confused. It's very annoying because my device always defaults to this account to login but it can't.

Increase Number Of Items In Jump Lists
Jul 8, 2015Any way to increase the amount of items can be stuffed into a taskbar jumplist. My reason is, I've used the jumplist feature in Windows 7 for Steam to give quicker access to some of the options you can only access by right-clicking the tray icon (i.e., set friends status to online/away/offline, open settings, server browser, screenshots, etc.) using these settings:
In Windows 7 all of these options were displayed in the jump list with the last launched game at the top, in Windows 8/8.1 it seemed that they lowered the number of jumplist items by 1, as I no longer had the most recent game at the top, in Windows 10 Tech Preview, it was the same as Windows 8 until a recent build which redecorated all of the jumplists.

Jan 28, 2016Is there any way to find out what the current version number of Windows Mail and Calendar app is? I don't think mine is the most current and I have a bug that sometimes makes a New Event post to the previous day. How would I go about updating this app as I can't find a check for updates button or anything like that. BTW, I have version no. 17.6525.42271.0.

Mar 10, 2016I have a large number of TCP connections open even immediately after a reboot. It's normally around 200 with only Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Know Brainer, Norton Security and my VoIP phone (X-Lite) along with a few other minor programs and normal Windows 10 background tasks running. I run Malwarebytes regularly and never find anything wrong and have Norton Security set at maximum levels. I'm attaching a file from TCPviewer that was taken immediately after a reboot as an example.

Oct 11, 2015I recently upgraded to windows ten but ever since I did my computer keeps telling me I do not have the correct permissions to read/write files. I have tried to change the settings to allow the one and only account the permissions. It works temporarily but after a few days it goes back to not allowing me again. I also tried activating the built in administrator account to save files but of course a built in administrator account cannot access the same things as the original account can.

Nov 8, 2015My desktop and laptop are both running Windows 10, and I sign into both computers using my e-mail address and password from Office 365. On each computer I have enabled sharing for each drive with the permissions I want. I am not using the HomeGroup feature because I want to share entire drives, and support for HomeGroup says it shares a very limited set of folders.
When I try to access either computer from the other, it asks for my credentials and I give the same e-mail and password I use to sign in. The response from Windows is "The specified network password is not correct."
I have seen a number of posts about this message, but no solutions that worked for me. Many solutions involve entering the computer name as the domain, which I don't think is applicable, since I am signing in with my Microsoft e-mail. I tried entering the computer name anyway, and it did not work. I have also tried updating my credentials with the Credential Manager, and (when that did not work) deleting the credentials and re-entering them when asked, still to no avail.
