After a recent Windows 10 update on my laptop and my work computer the date no longer shows on the taskbar. The clock is visible and the calendar pops up when you click on it, but no date. No settings were changed by me and everything is enabled as far as I can tell. Is this just some sort of glitch or is there something I am missing to bring the date back?

For some reason, hovering over icons on the taskbar bar no long shows the thumbnail/preview of the window and how to get it working again.
View 5 RepliesI tried that Windows 10 registry fix, and my laptop no longer recognizes my password. It keeps saying my password is incorrect. I got the update error on both of my laptops, but I tried the registry fix on an older laptop before I tried to fix it on my main laptop. My laptop starts fine and I get to the log in screen okay, but my password is no longer being recognized as correct. Did I destroy my laptop? I followed the directions exactly.

View 2 RepliesNow the calendar just displays Microsoft's ugly icon in the calendar square. Used to be it would just have a number there. Like today it would have a 6 for Nov 6. I don't know how to do anything with the Start screen except Pin to it, remove items from it, rearrange items. I opened the calendar and looked at settings and saw nothing.

If I right click it will give me the options to adjust date/time etc.. But what I want to fix is when I left-click there the time/calendar to open.
View 2 RepliesOn W7 i had my nokia lumia 900 unlocked and could plug it into my pc via the usb and it showed up as another drive.this allowed me to add remove music files etc. since installing W10 it no longer shows up?Indeed w10 seems to be changing things that it wants without me okaying it,if this continues i will be going back to w7. Q: How can i get my phone showing up as a drive i on w10.
View 5 RepliesI've done the settings for the time & date. However, no matter how wide I make the Taskbar, the short form continues to be shown. In Windows 7, when the Taskbar was widened, the long form would be shown. Is there something I need to do here? Or is this yet another bug?

View 1 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 and have been since it was first released. This morning I was playing a game, and my sound stopped working, so I rebooted my computer to see if that would fix it. It fixed the problem, but I had no icons pinned on my taskbar, no time & date, and the search and start button would not work. After hard-booting the computer for a second time, there was still nothing. When I open a program the icon doesn't show on the taskbar.
View 5 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 Professional x64 build 10240 on my Lenovo X220 laptop. I've subscribed to receive Insider builds on the fast ring, but every time I check for updates I am told "Your device is up to date", and no available updates are shown.
Previously it was working fine; I was receiving regular definition updates for Windows Defender and a number of updates for Windows 10 x64-based systems. Then, a few weeks ago I was offered "th2_professional_10525" (at least, I think that was the name), but this update appeared to fail, and on rebooting the laptop I got the message "Something went wrong..." at the logon screen.
I believe build 10565 is now available on the fast and slow ring. I've changed to the slow ring but still get the "Your device is up to date" message when I check for updates.
How can I get Windows Update to recognise that a later build is available?
Since I installed windows 10 ( clean install ) the autohide worked great.. now all of a sudden although it is checked and everything it simply does not work at all.. It makes it very hard to work on my sites and other sites that have cookie notices displayed on the bottom of the page.
View 2 RepliesI had recently clean installed Windows 10 on my laptop. Before doing that, all my drivers were working well except for WiFi - a problem since build 10158. Currently I am on build 10240.
When I plug usb sticks into the USB 3.0 ports on my laptop, they don't connect. It's not like the 'not recognised' problem. It simply shows no sign of connection like blinking its LED or any response from the OS. On the other hand, when I connect my Lumia phone in the same ports, it warns me of Slow Charging.
And when I plug it into the 2.0 port, it gets connected. Why is this happening? All of my device drivers are up to date. I believe its not a hardware issue because my laptop has two such ports and both of them have the same problem.
Changed something and can no longer see Taskbar on bottom, only the sides. Also lost the search bar. Tried tuning off autohide and every setting involving the Taskbar. Even tried shrinking the screen through resolution. I have to put Taskbar on the side to be able to see it.
The more I try to customize anything in Win 10 the worse it gets. Can't even seem to reset everything to default.
I need to get around the windows automatic update for my Lenovo T440s laptop. the update shows as failed several times in windows update. I never make it to any download screen. I am upgrading from 8.1 pro and all updates are installed.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to figure out what is going on with my mom's laptop. Two days ago she told me she was using her laptop and everything was fine, but then she left to do some things in the kitchen and came back a bit later to the screen off. Upon waking it up by moving the mouse, all she got was a black screen with a white cursor. I have looked at it and upon manually restarting, it shows the Windows 10 logo, and then it goes to the black screen with the cursor. There is no login screen either but I do also hear the welcome music. One thing I noticed though is the cursor does have the blue loading circle next to it like it is actually still doing something, and it flashes and spins now and then, as well as the computer sounding like its working, but I have left this on for almost 40 minutes now and it is still just a black screen. It sometimes goes to the off screen and have to move the mouse to wake it up again. Some people online suggest task manager and opening up other windows but nothing works, I can just move a cursor.

The BSOD says something like Kernel Inpage Error. I've tried to update from Windows Update, the media creator tool and from the "Get Windows 10" program.

There is a USB port on the left side of the machine that is working fine, but the ones on the right are ignoring me completely.

When I type in 'Windows Update' in the Search the web and Windows, the App always popped up for me to select it to check updates. It is no longer there? Using Windows 10 Pro 64bit, desktop, fresh install I did about a month ago.

When it comes all the way on everything is back to normal until i go to listen to music. This is when i realized no sound is working. I plug in my headphones and sure enough, it starts to work, but when i unplug them it does not work. I've gone through all the settings and stuff and i cant figure out what the problem is.
View 1 RepliesI've recently downloaded Microsoft's Windows 10 update and ever since i'm having issues with my computer. First, I'm pretty sure the update made my computer crash because 2 days after the update, my OS completely shut down and i lost everything on my drives. I then reformatted it and installed back windows 8.1. However, I can't connect to internet since the crash, even though im connected via Ethernet. It says IPv6 has no internet connection and IPv4 just started to have the same problem. I tried to reset winsock entrie and tcp/ip stacks, but in vain. I also tried set google's open dns address, but no success there either.

All of a sudden my XBOX 360 controller has stopped working on my desktop. I will connect it to a port it will blink 2-3 times and then it won't show up on device manager or anywhere. It was working just a few days back. I purchased Project Cars and now am panicked since I don't have money for a wheel and can't drive with keyboard. I thought maybe it was the controller itself, but it works fine on laptop-lights up in middle and can use it with emulator. Here is my desktop specs.

Here is what I have done so far. Tried multiple USB ports on back of computer. No luck. Does same thing with all of them Tried to use device manager and scan for hardware changes-no luck there. Tried downloading XBox 360 controller accessories from MS. No luck there
My printscreen key (PrtSc) was working perfect yesterday. I restarted the laptop today and it is no longer working.
I used to simply press on the key and the images were automatically saved to my dropbox folder, that is no longer the case.
Windows 10 asked me to update the dropbox and since then it no longer captures the screen with a single touch (It does however capture a screen image when I do the win key + PrtSc).
After a recent update I can no longer use the photo viewer, the tile does not respond and nothing happens when I pop my SD card in. I used it with no problems on windows 8.1. I have tried various settings using auto play to no avail.
