One Or More Network Protocols Missing Message After Clean Install

Mar 16, 2016

So as the title says I'm receiving this error when connecting to the internet that says "one or more internet protocols is missing on this device".

First a little back story: To make it short, I just I replaced the power supply in my PC, and disconnected/reconnected all cables, including data cables. When I booted my PC back up I was having this issue. The icon shows that I have internet but it will not connect in the browser or download updates.

I have seen other threads with this same error message and I have tried every software fix I have seen at this point, including uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers. In desperation I did a clean install of windows 10 hoping it would fix this issue.

One Or More Network Protocols Are Missing

Apr 5, 2016

Several times a day, my laptop's WiFi connection status changes from 'Internet access' to 'No internet'. When I use 'Troubleshoot problems', I get this: "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer - Windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing". Trying the 'perform repairs as administrator' fix does nothing, but restarting the computer lets me connect properly again. However, losing connectivity and restarting my computer every couple hours is getting irritating.

Earlier in the year I was getting the same message, but at that time simply restarting wouldn't fix it, I believe I needed to do either 'netsh winsock reset' or 'netsh int ip reset'. I honestly don't remember why it stopped happening, possibly changing away from Bitdefender antivirus (which fixed the BSOD problem I was having) worked. I haven't reinstalled Bitdefender, so I assume it's not that.

Some details:
· OS - Windows 10, 64-bit
· originally Windows 7
· Windows 10 installed via free upgrade
· Age of system: 2.5 years
· Age of OS installation: 6 months, have not re-installed

Networking :: Network Protocols Missing

Dec 6, 2015

Noted immediately after 1511 total system update, yet may have been inherited from an earlier build...

All is working well, yet Network Troubleshooter reports "one or more network protocols is missing."

Various posted remedies have been verified or implemented, to no avail.

Win 7, on the same machine, reports no errors.

Networking :: One Or More Network Protocols Missing?

So I've had this issue for about three days now. I am able to connect to my home router, but I am unable to connect to the Internet. Troubleshooter said "One or more network protocols are missing". Not sure what happened, never touched networking except for connecting to my network. I created a thread on Microsoft Answers website. You can view the page here: One or more network protocols are missing on this computer....

Networking :: One Or More Network Protocols Are Missing?

Jan 4, 2016

I just had this very annoying issue for a while, and scouring the internet proved to no avail. However, I stumbled upon the solution by myself. Simply go into an elevated command prompt and enter netsh int ipv4 install and restart your computer.

This is what solved the problem for me, though I had already tried a few suggestions (resetting winsock, giving permissions in NSI, etc) so that might have something to do with it.

this issue has plagued me forever since windows 10, and even slightly in windows 8.1. this issue would come randomly and i cant connect to internet even if i were a point blank in front of the router. running the troubleshooting does not fix it. the only way to fix it most of the time is to disable the wifi adapter for about 2 minutes and re enable it again. in some cases only a reboot can fix it and in rare cases it can only be fixed by uninstalling the wifi drivers and starting over.i have tried with 3 different wifi adapters, 2 computers and 2 routers.

it seems to struggle the most with connecting to optimum wifi/Xfinity wifi (which my laptop is added to my account) its mainly this optimum wifi here causing issues making router itself a issue but still. the other router is my 4g sprint hotspot, sometimes on rare occasion the same thing happens.

Windows 10 on a Dell Venue 8 pro tablet. Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Edge cannot access the website. IE is telling me about the missing protocols. The other two just say cannot access website.

Networking :: One Or More Network Protocols Are Missing On This Computer

Jan 2, 2016

This happened after the latest major update.

I've tried the following steps with no success 1) sfc /scannow. This showed no errors

2) netsh advfirewall reset netsh int ip reset*** netsh int ipv6 reset netsh int ipv4 reset netsh winsock reset *** This command did not work originally until I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControl and changed Control/NSI folder 26 permission to everyone (This box was unchecked again after reboot

3) ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew

4) Disabling and Renabling the Network Adapter within device manager.

5) Uninstalling the driver

6) Installing the latest drivers both from the Asrock/intel website and googling my network adapter.

7) I saw the fix where someone deletes the Windows 10 WIN and WIN2, and replaces with a clean Windows 7/8 version in this registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesWinsock HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesWinsock2

- Did not work also, it gave me a new problem no ethernet something which troubleshoot can't also fix.

8) Finally Reset W10. Still get the same error

One Or More Network Protocols Are Missing Internet Error

Jan 27, 2016

After updating my windows 10 rig, I cannot connect to the internet. When I run the troubleshooter, this error message shows up, "one or more network protocols are missing". I have tried several fixes including uninstalling and reinstalling the network drivers, going in and installing any missing network protocols, and a few other things. Nothing has worked or made any visible progress. I also used system restore, and restored to before the update, but it didn't do anything either.

Networking :: No Internet Connection - Missing Network Protocols

Feb 10, 2016

I have suddenly noticed a problem with internet connection. I cannot download any apps from Microsoft store (with unknown error message). Strange is that each other software (cloud clients, browser, ....) works perfectly.

I have already searched for solution on google and found command wsreset.exe but this did not work..

I have also tried network troubleshooter. It has found these errors:There is one or more missing network protocols. Windows sockets registry entries are missing

I have tried to repair these errors with some netsh commands, which actually did something but did not solve anything.

Another solution is to reinstall network drivers but this did not work either.

Lenovo Z575 Laptop - One Or More Network Protocols Missing

Jan 6, 2016

I have a Lenovo Z575 laptop w/ Windows 10. I recently updated to Windows 10 a couple months ago and everything was fine up until recently. I've been having this issue the past couple of days where I try to load up a webpage, it states that connection has timed out, so I use the Troubleshoot Problems option for my wifi, and it gives me the statement "One or more network protocols are missing". I used the "netsh int ip reset" command in the Command Prompt, and that seemed to work at first, but yesterday it happened again, only this time, it seems to pick and choose what pages load.

Networking :: Missing Network Protocols Prevent Access To Shared Folder?

Feb 10, 2016

From one of my Windows 10 machines I am unable to access the shared folders on the other. The troubleshooter says "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer" and "Windows Sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing."

I have run sfc /scannow, but no problems were found. I don't get the problem when sharing in the other direction or when accessing the shared folders on the same machine.

This comes amidst a cluster of sharing-related problems. Before the reboot after which the present problem manifested itself, shares going in the other direction were invisible in the network browser (but could be accessed via the search bar). Also, the machine in question does not appear in the HomeGroup browser even though it is a member of the HomeGroup.

Networking :: Network Protocols / Windows Sockets Registry Entries Required For Connectivity Missing

Nov 15, 2015

Problem trying to connect to internet on laptop, but all working as normal on desktop.

Investigations revealed....one or more Network Protocols are missing on this computer, also Windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing....this on both Ethernet and wireless but they had been working perfectly since the update last week.

My laptop supposedly required "Internet connections Package Version 3.0 Publisher Microsoft Windows."

After messing about for an hour without success I loaded the 1511.. ISO.. knowing that I could not connect to the internet to download anything, this seemed to solve the problem, (fingers crossed) I can only assume this made the internet connection possible.

D Drive Is Missing After Clean Install

Mar 18, 2016

So, one day i was just thinking of doing a clean install of Windows from a bootable USB drive and after i got everything set up, clean installation done and ready to go i noticed that.. Windows only created one drive, and that's my lonely C: drive with the space of my old C: drive and D: drive together. So practically, it blended those two drives together, since im pretty sure i did everything correct on the clean installation but this is the result. Is there any ways to fix this situation WITHOUT going back to a restore point or without another clean installation of Windows from a bootable usb drive?

I have tried installing the Windows again from the settings of the Windows but it did not work and the problem still persists. Also, while i was doing the new install of the Windows, it threw me an error of the drive being GBT (or something along the lines) so i had to run cmd in the installer and clean disk 0 to make it work. and By doing that, it didnt show those 7-8 drives i had on the list in the installer but it actually deleted all of those 8 and left 1 standing so i clicked ''new'' and it made only one more that was called ''system memory'' or something along those lines.

My Computer is an Asus notebook x551ca.

Installation :: Clean Install Using USB Cannot Verify Key As No Network

Oct 31, 2015

My kids Windows 7 machine had major issues, so decided to do a fresh Windows7 install. Format disk etc. install worked, windows update did not. Would do nothing but say "checking for updates", for hours, and hours. Spent 6 hours trying to fix that when i said what the heck, lets go to Windows 10. I have a windows 7 OEM key.

I used the tool to download and create a USB install and went from there.

Windows 10 goes through the install phase without issue, asks for the key, i provide the Windows 7 OEM key. Hangs for like 10 seconds then says the key is not usable. I sit there scratching my head. I can do a Windows 7 reinstall on this machine with the key, but not a Windows 10 ? Windows 10 upgrade website says you can do a fresh install in this way, using the Windows 7 key.

I talked to a MS guy, pretty useless. Kept wanting to connect to my computer to take a look, despite me not having completed the install because the key would not work.

BUT, here is the root of the problem i believe, i have no network connection, because Windows10 seemed to not install a driver for it. No green light on back of machine(when i do a fresh windows7 install, it does install a driver, and all is good).

I download the necessary driver from the MSI website, use the "install driver option" from the Win10 screen asking me for a windows key, yet the driver install files wont even show up when i click browse.

Then i click the "skip" option, thinking i can go into Windows, install the drivers that way and then put my key in later. Heh, stupid me, no, clicking skip just takes you back where it will reinstall everything and then ask you for the key again. So, install, skip, install, skip, install, skip.....

Pretty disgusted with MS right about now.

Cannot Find Network Driver To Connect To Net After Clean Install

Aug 15, 2015

Have Z97 GAMING 5 (MS7917) 1.0 MoBo with Intel Core i7 4790K Just clean installed Windows 10 after upgrade from 7 Pro, but had issues with a Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB with MBR instead of the prefered one. Had to EUFI instead of BIOS, and apparently, my data drive (ST4000DM0001F2168) was converted and made the system disk to boot from. Anyway, Windows 10 starts and all, but it will not connect to the internet, 'no network drivers are available'. I downloaded the AMI Bios flash v1.b and updated that. Also downloaded MSI LiveUpdate 6 and installed it via USB stick, but nothing shows up on the scans as it cannot connect.

This all started because the stupid "USB Device not recognized" error message kept popping up and Chrome became so slow back in Windows 7. I did everything I read, to include popping out the MoBo battery. The error message still pops up in Windows 10, and Chrome was still slow after the upgrade. Figured a clean install would fix it all...and now I have a very large paperweight...

Clean Install Fails - Missing Media Drivers

Aug 13, 2015

I'm a student and my university has a subscription to Dreamspark, so I got a Win10 key, along with an ISO-file from there. I'm using a Lenovo G700 and trying to perform a clean install from a bootable USB-stick.

I have tried creating this USB-stick with the "Win7 USB DVD Download Tool", using different guides from the internet with NTFS and Fat32 filesystem, launching the setup normally and through UEFI, using the "Media Creation Tool" ([URL]) to create the USB-stick directly and downloading the ISO file first and creating a bootable USB-stick from that with all the methods above, but no matter which of these methods I use, I get the following error during installation:

"A media driver your computer needs is missing." (URL)

Unfortunatley, I am currently running Win7 Pro x64 on my laptop and the following page says, that the upgrade to Win10 only works from Win8.1, not Win7: [URL]

When I try to use the "Media Creation Tool" to instantly perform an upgrade, I get the following error:

"Something happened... 0x80070422 - 0x90016"

What drivers could the installation possibly be missing? I don't have any external devices plugged in, except for the bootable USB-stick, of course. I tried downloading all drivers for Win7 x64 and Win10 x64 from the Lenovo page ([URL])

Networking :: Missing Internet Protocols?

Feb 10, 2016

So I have been without internet for a couple weeks and have spent hours trying to figure out what is wrong with my computer. I only have an ethernet port on my machine, connected to my router via powerline adapters (which work with my other PCs). Windows troubleshooter tells me that there are missing protocols, I have tried various things and nothing has worked. I have already tried: winsock reset(tool), replacing my winsock registry keys with another windows pc, I have tried that sfc /scannow command, no errors were found, i have also tried disabling netbios.

At some point I accidentally uninstalled 'microsoft network adapter multiplexer protocol', dont know how to reinstall it and now I am getting and ip config error from the troubleshooter. At this point I am thinking about re-installing windows. Is there a way to do this without losing settings for applications? This is such a freaking mess.
