I have several, rather large, Excel files. When I open one I get a window that says ..."Security Alert - Office File Validation"... .
I did a Google search on it and get a lot of TechNo Babble that I don't understand.
How can I get rid of this pop up without major surgery ? It has only been appearing since I upgraded to Windows 10.
I am not able to open any office or pdf file. It says o*c0000005 not able to start. What to do?

Opening an excel file within an email gives me 'corrupt' file. If I save the file I will be able to open it up *sometimes*. I have tricked the OS into opening the file by printing from the email attachment and then clicking 'save'. Sometimes that will actually open the excel file but not always.
I even installed excel previewer for mobile and confirmed that excel (desktop) was the app to open excel files but that did not work.
This is happening with Word as well.
When I am trying to use my Outlook or Word for Office 365, I keep getting error "0x8004FC12". How to fix this?
View 1 RepliesI installed Office 2016 and a random file appeared directly on the C drive in no folder. The file is called, "WindowsMSUIGHUB.tt2". know what this file is and if it's just some temporary file I'm safe to remove? I don't really want this file here as it looks ugly but I don't want to remove if it it's required for anything.

I am using Office 2007 and when i try to save documents, ie; excel or word, i am told i am unable to save to the document folders or previous .xls folders that i had created. The system will let me save the file to the desktop...then i have to drag and drop into the designated folders...with a prompt telling me that i need admin privileges. What gives with this?

View 4 RepliesI was performing a File Cleanup operation and it included something call Windows Defender. I always click to delete everything it displays. So I did and it deleted Windows Defender. I have since learned what it is and want to reinstall. I do not understand why Microsoft would allow you to delete a part of the system from the file cleanup screen? But it did. How can I reinstall?
View 2 RepliesI have selected certain file types / folders and locations in Windows Defender on Windows 10 that were added to the exclusions lists...
Previously I could go to Windows Defender and see what files, folders or extensions I had excluded but now they have disappeared....
All I see is the add buttons which work as intended when I want to add a folder etc etc.... But then they are not listed anywhere so that I can remember what I have excluded or not....
How to get that visible again, is there a setting in the registry that needs to be fixed?

but I see nothing..

I have to say that windows defender is excluding folders/files and etc etc, that I have selected during its scans, but I cant see the excluded items in the Windows Defender as per image of my Exclusions section below...
Is it possible to make a .reg file to optimize my visual effects for best performance for all users that sign into one PC?
I want to do this because we have many people who sign into the PC via our Active Directory through the network. If I can get a .reg file that just applies this to all users that would be awesome!
can i enable any kind of alert (like fraps has red dot in a corner... or whatever) when i am recording game? I am recording a lot, and i sometimes forget if i am recording right now, i dont know if my next win+alt+r will start or stop recording, dont know if i pushed the right keybind, or not...

View 9 RepliesI'm getting an alert saying that I need to repair or replace my hard disk and back up my laptop. I've already backed it up. My computer has been having some issues. I thouoght it was something I could fix myself. I had gotten a kernal_data_inpage_error a few time and I thought chkdsk had repaired it then I started to get the hard disk error. Sometimes my computer works fine and sometimes it's practically useless it goes so slow. Since I started getting the hard disk issue my computer has been running smoothly. Smoother then it usually does. What's up with that? I need this for work. Will it hurt anything if I keep using it as long as it's still running and then when it finally does just replace the hard drive? I was thinking about replacing the hard drive anyways to have more space on my computer. Also, could the warning be a false alarm and I might could fix it myself? My laptop is made very weird and the whole stinking paptop has to disassembled to swap out the hard drive unlike my old laptop where you can just unscrew the bottom and bam everything is.

View 1 RepliesIt is easy to increase the time an Outlook 2013 Desktop Alert stays on for a long time (hours or maybe all day) by using the registry hack below in Windows 7. This won't work under Windows 10. The longest time I can get by any method, Control Panel or hack is 5 minutes. How to make it at least a couple of hours or preferably all day?

It's practically detrimental to my work-flow as I am a photographer. I can't look through my files to choose my next project with the files suddenly disappearing from my screen.

I just bought a WD My Passport Ultra and it comes with a copy of WD Backup. Never using backup software I decided to give it a try and see what happens. I had no problems at all until I ended up with a message "These files failed to back up: UPPS.bin, 15.77kb". so I decided to try and find the file, which I found. The question is, what this file does and is it necessary to backup? Probably most of you know where this file is but for those who don't you can find the file at: C:UsersUser NameAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsUPPSUPPS.bin.
View 6 RepliesI have suddenly started getting serious memory loss problems, with the Tablet PC showing warnings and closing down before I can achieve anything. The Page file is shown stuck at zero. I have not been able to change it in the configuration menu. I enter automatic or customised min / max but after a restart the Page file is still '0'.
How do I get the configuration tool working again?
I just upgraded my Windows 8 OS to Windows 10 and it has left.Old.windows folder.with many included files on my Harddrive. I have already backed up and transferred all the files I wanted to keep from that old version and wish to delete that file and all that is in it. But it seems not to allow me to do that. I have tried numerous times with Admin privileges and it still will not allow be to delete.
