Should Disable Paging File On SSD
Mar 5, 2016should I disable Page file in my Windows? I have 120GB SSD & I found some articles in the Internet that, paging file should be disabled on SSD. By the way, I have 16GB RAM.

Paging File - How To Set It Up
Mar 25, 2016I'm looking to change my paging file because people say you should manually set it for best performance. The second reason I'm looking to do this is for games, I play Black Ops, it's really poorly optimized and on some threads people recommend to set it manually, they say it will work with the games stuttering. I was just curious as to how I properly set up mine, people say you shouldn't use recommend size and others say you should. Should I set the paging file to only the drive with my OS installed on it, or if my game is installed on a different drive should I do it to that one too.

Disable Zip File Compressed Folders File Explorer?
Oct 19, 2015Using Win10 Pro x64. I would like to disable windows showing .zip files in explorer as a folder...When you highlight it the contents inside the .zip are shown in the right pane view. I've scoured the net and found ways for Win7(which I did disable .zip folders on my other Win7 machine) and Vista, perhaps 8 too but I don't want to risk trying a method for older versions of windows. Any solution/reg hack or whatever to disable .zip folder?

Aug 9, 2015I am just going to say up front that I don't have the Pro version of Windows 10 so I have no Group Policy Editor otherwise I would have fixed this problem in less than a minute instead of wasting over a hour trying to fix this.
I want to disable this on the screenshot for any future files I download. I searched online but every post says I have to use gpedit.msc which I don't have. I am getting very frustrated. I don't want to mess around in the registry. Some one just link a .reg file to disable this annoyance so I can just import it and be done.
Way To DISABLE In File Explorer
Aug 24, 2015Is there a way to DISABLE in file explorer this stupid thing from showing me Quick Access, Libraries ETC .. I want the thing to open at the root directory of my drive ONLY and every time.
Secondly - is there a way to disable the auto locating (not sure what to call it) feature in file explorer - .. when I navigate to a location - I WANT IT TO STAY THERE .. not jump around again like it thinks it knows what I want - IT DOESNT
Apps :: Disable How To Want To Open This File
Feb 10, 2016On every computer I've installed Windows 10 on (a dozen+) despite me setting all my default file types and applications, the first time a specific file type in opened, it still asks if I want to use this program. I've attached a picture of the first time I'm trying to open a MOV file.
Like I said, I've already specified that it should open with VLC, but it still asks anyways. I've tried this through Settings and Control Panel but it still doesn't work.
In the picture it does say iTunes is a new application, which I know would probably make this happen, but even without a new application being installed after setting my default file types, it still happens. Once I get through this screen it won't ever come up for MOV files again, but it will if I opened an MP4, and nearly any other file type on the computer. It doesn't usually happen with anything besides media files, but ANY picture; movie or audio file will do this (among several random others). This happens on EVERY Windows 10 I install, and I'm tired of having to keep two dozen dummy files and opening them all to disable this message on each computer. Is their a way I can prevent this message from coming up.
Can't Disable File Name Extensions Option
Dec 18, 2015I saw that file name extensions has been turned on by it self somehow. (For those who don't know file name extensions is when it says ".exe", ".txt" after the name of a file.) I was gonna turn it of but when I did it just blinked on the desktop like I pressed F5 and it keept being on. I guess it might just be bug that will get fixed with an update.

Sep 28, 2015I activated the ctrl alt disable login screen for Windows 10 by using this registry key from this forum.(Lock Screen - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums).
I downloaded and installed the key to disable only to find it didn't work so I tried to manually do it by changing the number from 0 to 1 only to find its already at 1.
I also tried going the user passwords2 to find the box to disable ctrl alt disable login is already ticked, but is greyed out meaning I can't untick the box.

Nov 12, 2015At the first after I upgraded my notebook from windows 8 to windows 10, I just realize that 1 of my 3 user account is not exist anymore (the Guest account is not there just after I upgrade it into windows 10). As I tried to make the new Guest account and still didnt work (I dont want to follow such a complex email registration required by windows 10 to make a new user account), I thought to delete my secondary user account. However, I just realize that there is a file that I saved in the Desktop under my secondary user account. Is there a way to restore this desktop file that is saved in my deleted user account?
I have opened C:Users but I cant find the folder with the name of my deleted user account. It's very important yet big file (around 2 GB).
Networking :: Hosts File Alias Not Working With File Share
Sep 26, 2015I can set an alias in the hosts file on a win7 machine and access it just fine but doing the same in Win10 prompts for creds that never work even when entered correctly. What did win10 change?
hosts file entry:
127.0.0.1 hostname alias
ip - works fine
hostname -works fine
alias - Prompts for creds and creds don't work
I have gone to the extent of fully disabling UAC from reg, same outcome. Network and file sharing is set to password access and not homegroup. Simple file sharing is off.
Something to note. I always disable ipv6 form the adapter but when I ping my hostname it shows the ipv6 loopback. Why is that? When I ping the alias it returns 127.0.0.1 ipv4 loopback that was entered in the hostname.
Networking :: File Explorer Network Tab Shows PC (This File Is Empty)
Dec 25, 2015Under the Network tab of File Explorer, I can see three entries, one of which is my router (with attached Hard Drive) and two computers, each running Windows 10. When I expand the router entry, I can see my hard drive files. I can also see my Users icons when I expand one of the computer's tabs. However, when I click on the other computer's name to search for users, all I see is a message that "This folder is empty". In fact, the folder is not empty, as there are two users on the computer. How I can get this computer to show users, etc.?

Aug 5, 2015I'm trying to copy a ripped movie file (iso) from my G drive to desktop. The file is 45GB. It gets to 99% then a message comes up saying the process can't complete because the System has the file open. I have nothing running and can't find anything where the System is accessing/linking to this file.
I thought it might be a permissions issue, so I wanted to download the Reg edit to add a "take ownership" command but the TenFourms link is not working. Take Ownership - Add to Context Menu in Windows 10 <<<< won't open web page.
I ran sfc /scannow and there are some errors reported that could not be fixed. There is a CBS.log file but I have not looked at it yet.
I also ran the DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (I forget the full command line now) and it came back saying it could not find the files "online".
File Names In Left Panel Of File Explorer
Aug 8, 2015I just installed Windows 10. Not sure if I like it, but I'm trying hard.
Problem: When I go to File Explorer, in the left panel, when I click on a folder name, the contents of that folder (both sub-folders and files) show in the right panel.
In the left panel, when I click on ">" beside a folder name, it will expand in the left panel showing the sub-folders, but not "loose files".
I could have sworn that in earlier versions of Windows the files also showed.
Is there a option setting somewhere to change this behavior and to show the files also in the left panel?
File Extension Not In File Association List
Oct 28, 2015I use Notepad++ to edit Python files which have the file extension .py such as "sample.py"
I would like to set Notepad++ as the default program to open .py files.
When I open a .py file I get the popup asking me which file I want to use to open. But I do not get the choice to set the default program to open this extension.
When I go to Settings|Choose Default Apps By File Type the .py extension is not listed.
Looking through the registry I see that there is no .py handler.
Q: What is the method to manually add a file extension and associate it with a program?

Dec 7, 2015When I edit a .mkv file (rename, delete or copy/move) on one of my partitions, file explorer freezes and I need to restart it with taskmanager.
I haven't encountered any other files that cause the same freeze as this one (yet..).
I already searched on google and tried editing from a webbrowser and the drive is defragmented automatically, so I don't know what to do.
Can't Open PDF File - Too Long File Name
Feb 3, 2016I can't open some of the PDF ffiles on my client's server. an error message come on stating that the ' file name is too long'. I can open other files with short name without any problem. I have tried to copy and paste the file on my desktop so I can rename the file but without success. Also tried to right click on the file and open it with fox-it or MS PDF reader but this did't work either. if tried to rename the file or open it with another software the page goes simply closed and and desktop opened.

Aug 1, 2015I just upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 and I am disappointed to see that some of my programs are now blurry. I had encountered this problem before when I installed Windows 8.1, but somehow I was able to fix it.
I can remove the blurriness from individual programs by manually disabling dpi scaling on each program, but I would like to do this system wide.
When I try to edit the display settings through the control panel, the changes I make result in everything on the screen being too small for me to read. I can't seem to get everything right how it was when I was running Windows 8.1.
