Im looking for a software that splits a PC into 2 (controls separate 2 sets of keyboards and mouses). There are a few like SoftXpand or Aster Multiseat for windows 7 and 8.1. But I don't know if they work for windows 10.
View 1 RepliesI'd like to get a 256gb SSD this week for my Win 10 install but keep all my games and large rendering files on my 1tb HDD. My games are all in their own folder C:/Games, can I simply move that folder onto the HDD (D:/Games) and be ok or will that cause problems (with registry entries perhaps?).
What's the best way of moving my OS from a 1TB HDD and splitting it up between that and the new, smaller SSD?
I am currently using Dell Inspiron N5010 .. My keyboard Numeric board in not working correctly.. from where i can download driver..

View 3 RepliesUpgraded (???) a Windows 8 machine (HP with MS ergonomic keyboard) to Windows 10 a couple of months ago. It seemed to work, but most of the apps didn't work, and I couldn't access files as Administrator. this week I upgraded (???) a Lovono using Windows 7 to Windows 10. They are networked with printers and other computers via ethernet. Thursday afternoon the HP stopped recognizing key strokes. It allows password input on restart, but will not type anything else. It clicks like the buffer is full. Yesterday the Lovono started doing the same thing. My first thought was virus, although McAfee runs constantly on both machines. Used Malwarebytes on both and found a few PUPs, but no malware or virus. One forum suggested using DriverWizz, but it didn't change the keyboard driver. The Windows 7 computer on the same network, sharing files with both, is unaffected as yet. I'm thinking the solution will be to junk Windows 10 and go back to 7 and 8. If Windows 10 were a Vacuum Cleaner it would be terrific, but sucking like this is not all that terrific for an OpSys.
View 3 RepliesIts possible to customize one or more folders to a specific file view like "list" or "details" for example? Whenever I close the folder or go back to the previous folder the default system sets back default view which was adopted by the system or the view that was defined by me for all the folders in: Folder Options -> View -> Apply to Folders.
View 7 RepliesUpdated to Win10 yesterday and applied ClassicShellSetup_4_2_3 quite quickly so I don't know whether what I am experiencing was already like that before I applied CS. But since the problem persists when I shut down Classic Shell I assume it hasn't much to do with it.
Here goes the list of my problems (probably all have the same single source):
- I cannot left click the speaker icon to get the volume control
- I cannot open the notification center .. neither via left nor right mouse click (context menu)
- I cannot unpin icons from the task bar (no right click menu)
- Search icon does nothing when I left-click it
- I cannot launch the regular windows start menu via the icon in the CS start menu
- If I shut down CS and left klick on the windows start icon nothing happens
- I cannot add a new user
So in fact I have not even gotten to see the windows tablet UI and I don't know how to get to see it.
something weird going on with Parental Controls. My son has lost access to Google following upgrade to Windows 10 though, not unsurprisingly, he can get to BING. Is this a glitch or part of the Search Engine turf war between Microsoft and Google? Either way, I would like him to have Google access so is there a way to return the functionality without giving him an open access account?

View 4 RepliesI'm evaluating Windows 10 for my company to check compatibility with our systems and general user experience. We're a small business, and we're presently running a mix of Win7 and Win8.1 machines, all running Pro and joined to our domain. The two machines I've upgraded to Win10 Pro both have the same issue:
File Explorer, when opened, has a loading bar that never finishes. It displays the text "Working on it..." in the file panel, and a very small tree in the folder panel, with just "Quick access," "Desktop," and "This PC" entries. Many controls in the ribbon are also greyed out, including Options, Open command prompt, and the layout controls. (See screenshot)
Possibly related, the recycle bin does not behave as expected. Even with files in the bin, the "Empty recycle bin" option is greyed out both in the ribbon and in context menu from the desktop icon. I can only fully delete files by selecting them within the bin and deleting them again. (See screenshot)
I've searched around for people with similar problems, but I found only one thread describing this issue, and with a preview build. That thread contained a work-around (start->run->c:) which usually works for me, but which brings up a very quirky File Explorer window, with a folder pane that only shows folders I have actually navigated to using the file pane. It is workable, but I can't ask a normal user to live with this experience, so our upgrade plans are on hold until I can get this resolved.
None of my personal machines, including a Surface Pro 3 now running Win10 Pro, are having this issue.
While using Windows 7 I often disabled my wireless connection by using the f12 function key. It was disabled when I upgraded to Windows 10 via my ethernet connection. The f12 key now only controls airplane mode. I cannot enable my wireless adapter. I have an HP Pavillion dv7 notebook computer. HP says they offer no Windows 10 compatible upgrades for this model. Is there a solution other than restoring Windows 7?

It seems like when my kid gets to the end of his allotted time for the day the computer just goes blank without any warning - often in the middle of an 'all important' game. Am I missing something or is this feature gone?

I unwittingly moved the location of the desktop file to D:, and now I can't separate the two, and all of my HDD files are shown on my desktop. How do I separate the two, and get the desktop file within D:, not as the D:. Is it even possible?

View 1 RepliesI decided to install Windows 10 on another partition on my disk. This hard drive already has Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 installed on separate partitions. I never had a problem when switching between the three. Now that I have installed Windows 10, I can't switch between any of them. It simply won't recognise the other OS's. Is there any way around this?

it shows removable drives, optical drives and hard drives in one group together. This is one of the the worst changes made to Windows. Sadly, the OS does not offer you any option to the ungroup drives logically so local drives are in one group and the rest in another.
Wondering how Windows 10 deals with putting data on a separate partition or drive. Does it use the same general method as in Windows 7, where it re-maps (for example) "Documents" to a folder on a different letter drive path? So that C:Users{user}Documents becomes G:Users{user}Documents?
I'm hoping that it actually becomes more like *nix, using symbolic links to point to the right place (so C:Users{user}Documents points to the separate partition of drive). Personally, I find the Win7 method to be clunky and problematic in actual use.
What I'm planning to do is upgrade my rig with an SSD, but I don't really want to lose my files. Is there a way to refresh Windows, and have the "refreshed" install and my files on a separate drive than what Windows was originally installed on?

However I can not repeat that and instead I keep getting it split in to 3 partitions?
I only want 2 partitions 1 x 1TB + 1 x 2 TB
I am doing this on this system (Windows 10, 32 bit) Home edition, because my ACRONIS Total Image 2016 won't recognise a 3 TB drive.
BTW: I have two other registered Windows systems 1. Windows 10 Prof. & 2. Windows 7 Prof. both using 64 bit, that I don't have problems with.

I made the mistake of moving the download folder to the desktop folder. Now it uses the same folder for both desktop and downloads. I see no way to separate them again. On the "This PC" screen, it shows "Desktop" for both the download and desktop icons. I tried the regedit fix, but it didn't work. How can I separate desktop and downloads, like it was originally?

View 9 RepliesI have two windows 10 computers on the same network in different rooms. One is in my bedroom, one is in the living room. My roommate's girlfriend has a 10 year old son that comes by sometimes. I like to have my pin up girls on the desktop in my room but I keep generic desktop themes in the computer in the living room since I let other people use that one. I had to reinstall Windows 10 on the computer in the living room, and for some reason, the themes keep syncing and I can't figure out how to keep them separate (the computer also share the same Windows ID, it did it on it's own). So if I have my pin up girl theme in my room, eventually it shows on the computer in the living room. If I use a generic theme in the living room, eventually it shows in the bedroom. How do I keep these desktop themes separate?
View 2 RepliesI created the USB recovery drive successfully with the option "Back up system files to the recovery drive".
Since I needed the USB for another purpose, I transferred the files from the USB to a separate partition on an external HDD and made this drive bootable using YUMI.
So now, on the same laptop, I am able to boot to this new partition on my external HDD where windows recovery environment comes up just fine. I did not want to test the reset or refresh part. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the "System Restore" option on the advanced options screen. I got an error message "To use system restore, you must specify which Windows installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an operating system and then select System Restore"
