When I upgraded to windows 10, all the icon images of my pictures are now a white slide with a blue mountain-like thing on it. I can't tell what I am looking at without opening them up. I use to be able to know what they all were before I opened them.
When trying to save an image to my Pictures folder in Windows 10, I receive an error message that states I don't have permission to save in this location and that I should contact the administrator to obtain permission.
I'm the only user on this computer and I'm an administrator. What am I doing wrong? What settings do I need to change to allow me to save in this location? I can save files to other folders, but no the Pictures folder.
All the app icons have disappeared from my desktop, as well as task bar and file Explorer. Where the icon should be is just a blank (but clickable) space.
I tried to manually alter the app icon by right clicking and going into properties, but no properties will open!
I would like to find out how I can customize the actual images(icons) displayed in the system tray.
This is my current system tray -->
Icons I want to change include BitDefender, Chrome, and OpenVPN to make them better fit the new Windows 10 icon theme. The white icon in the top right corner is one that I was successfully able to change. The program is Vuze Bittorrent client --> The Vuse wiki actually tells the location of the .png image file --> [URL]....
For BitDefener, I found the folder where the .png files are located and I was able to overwrite them to white icons that would match my Windows 10 theme.
However, the icon in the system tray stays the same (ugly red B). I am sure there is something else I need to do seeing as BitDefender is a security application in which I am sure makes it hard to tamper with it's files.
How I can change these icon images? or know of a tool that allows you to change the program's system tray image?
Some of my program shortcuts have changed to white file icon pictures. the shortcut still works just fine but they just missing the icon... when i load a new icon in the place of the old one i get a little shield on half the icon... Ive had this problem before with one shortcut but now it some how fixed it self.
About a week ago the calculator started opening and then closing instantly so I tried re-registering the windows apps following a guide which used the powershell and running a command. This unfortunately seems to have made the situation worse and I now get @Microsoft.windowsapps.calculator appearing when I search for the calculator in start and the store displays a white icon and does not open. I have attached screenshots of what happens below:
Two days ago I woke up to this problem, my icon pictures are gone and I can't access properties when I right click anything. So, night before everything was fine, PC went to sleep mode, next morning i get up wake PC from sleep mode and the problem i mentioned was there. Some of the icons i used are custom and some default, so the problem is not in one of those 2 things, and since i cant access properties i figure it is some deeper issue than just icon's picture missing.
Here is the screenshot, i'll leave it like this here, too, because I am new here and not sure how attachment thing works
Before reverting Lumia 640 back to WP8.1 and Lumia Camera, I was being bugged by Windows Camera Living Images (shortly LI). It seemed that camera took just still images. I don't like a camera I can't trust.
Today I took some LI with 8.1. Lumia Camera is faithful to the setting and takes video clip every time. But how to view them on W10 PC? No way. So I opened one succesfull W10M LI (visible in W10 PC and phone) in order to duplicate the structure with 8.1 LI files, but the container is more than just simple zip, maybe a JPG with zip content added into it.
Then I noticed that failed W10M LIs from last Saturday (nice christmas lights in a shopping center with "dropping" lights) also had correct LI naming and they were the right size (around 3.5-4MB when still image is <2MB). I unzipped content and - living.jpg and living.mp4 were there. One image can be found at onedrive for those who are interested.I have also some other pictures with LI naming but the size is too small and no zip content in them.
How is it possible that LI images are created by the camera but neither phone nor PC are capable to show them?Is there a way to create W10-supported LI from WP8.1 LI files? App or batch file? Creating zip file and appending it to jpeg file does not seem to work...
Recently my taskbar has decided it will not slide out of the way when I am using a program. How can I make it do as it as told again? This is not on my Pryon PC but on my HP Touchscreen PC. In the setup screen the autohide button is ticked.
I just updated to Windows 10 and now my slide show is displaying different slides - they used to display the same slide. Anyway I can display the same slide on both screens at the same time?
I am using the keyboard shortcut (CNTRL+WIN+arrows) to get to different virtual desktops. But I don't like the slide effect since it kinda makes me dizzy (I have issues with vertigo). Is there a way to just have it "snap" to the different desktops without any sort of transition effect?
Not being able to slide to type in the browser address bar is my pet peeve with W10M, considering I use Edge quite frequently. The address bar is used for search and it only makes sense to do so!
I'm using Insider Preview 10166 on my Lumia 1020 and just noticed something. Default camera app does not capture raw and there is no Lumia Camera app in the store. In older versions of Insider Preview I could download Lumia Camera, but now it's not available. Is there any way to capture raw? It's the reason why I got L1020 in the first place, are they going to remove it?
Windows 10.I am at this location: This PC > S3500 [my Nikon model] > S3500 > DCIM > 100Nikon
File.. Picture Tools Manage Rotate Left Rotate Right View [The word 'View' is a bit faded, so maybe needs to be live]
When I click Rotate Left or Rotate Right nothing happens. I need to rotate many images before I upload them to Amazon.com, where they cannot be rotated. By the way, if I need to go into Windows Live or the Edit, where you use the paint brushes and such, (No longer have the original MS installation disc.)
So I just today activated my new Win10 laptop and managed to install the old, fabulous XP MSPaint, but how do I get ALL my images to open in that, rather than in the "upgraded" (HORRRRible :exclame: :smash: ) pre-installed MSPaint?
Note: I do know how to change defaults, but when I went thru that process, there was no way to choose the old MSPaint option.
After a driver (I think one related to Intel graphics, but i am not shure) was unsuccesfully installed, I had a BSOD problem, hard restart, kernel error message (unable to reproduce it afterward). Some applications from taskbar partially work (Office, Skype), some not. I am unable to open the Start menu (but the right click still works). The Edge disapeared, I post from anothe PC. Restarted a few times, tried to restore to a previous backup of drivers - nothing works.
I upgraded to 10 from 8.1. In 8.1 I had a slide show desktop background. That carried forward into 10 ( I still have the slideshow background). However, I cannot find where the images are located on the computer. Would like to modify but need to know where they are.
I have windows 10 and use IE11 / Google. Each time I hover my mouse over an image I get a Pin it message in red, I can't find anything on Google to remove this annoying feature.
I have gone on to their website and disables the feature but it does nothing.
I started reading this article and when I get down a little ways into the article, I notice the images inside the article are not showing up.For example, there is no image for Fig A, Fig B, Fig C, etc, etc.Instead, there are buttons appearing marked Fig A, Fig B, Fig C, etc, etc, ....... but they are unclickable.
Manipulating Windows 10's Start Menu - TechRepublic clicked on a couple of articles on that webpage, and it was the same thing..... no images within the articles appearing, instead just unclickable buttons.
In explorer under view/options under View "Always show icons never thumbnails" is unchecked. I also tried to choose "Restore Defaults" from there as well with no luck. Yes, I closed and re-opened explorer after the change.
I under went under Control Panel/System/Advanced/System Properties/Performance and made sure "Save Taskbar Thumbnail Previews" was checked as well as "Show thumbnails instead of icons" was also checked.
