All was working a couple of days ago, now today I can not access edge. double click nothing, went to task bar and cannot enter anything into the "Search the web and windows" then went to windows icon and do not see/get the apps
Tried to get to updates but now I cannot find them..
I recently installed some software on my computer (I can't remember what it was - I installed many things as it's a new PC) and now whenever I use Microsoft Edge every search I do is redirected to Yahoo!. In Edge's settings the default search engine is google and there is no trace of Yahoo! that I can find. What can I do?
In Windows 10 v1511, when I open a new blank tab in Microsoft Edge and I write on it any word and I press Enter, the browser tries to load the http://<searched_word> page rather than performing a search with the default search engine. Why?
I upgraded to Windows 10! When ever I try to just simply search something in Google Chrome is search's for a minute then gives me the error WEBSITE UNAVAILABLE ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED I couldn't even search up what that meant! I only got here because it was a favorites tab.
Same thing happens on Firefox too, takes an hour to load up what I searched and gives me an error, tried Microsoft Edge and it also wouldn't load any search results. I looked around on my phone but no one really has this problem. It can't be my Wi-Fi because it is fine on every other device. What could it possibly be? I can't uninstall Chrome because how would I get it back if nothing else works?!
Things I have tried: unchecking compatibility mode checking use hardware acceleration (in chrome settings) unchecking use hardware acceleration running as admin clearing all history and cache (in both browsers) running ccleaner for both browsers trying a different network restarting my computer all have not worked
I have google.com.au set as home page as I mainly start browsing with a search. I first started to have problems last night when opening a new TAB for a new search and selecting Home page rather than using the Bing search on the new TAB. As soon as I start typing the search bar jumps to the top left corner and gives you a few suggestions, but after I finish entering my search word/term and click the search icon or press enter I can see internet traffic by the light on 3g modem but the page remains blank.
This is now starting to happen on my homepage when first opening Edge. I type in my search the search bar jumps to top left corner showing a couple of suggestions, but that's as far as it will go.
It does however work normally sometimes. Last night was the first time I came across this problem and I'm sure I've done searches this way since I started using EDGE without any problems.
I had my wife try the same thing (in EDGE) with the same result, though she uses Firefox as her default browser.
Since installing the November Windows 10 update (11/17/15) none of my favorites are being stored in the default Edge folder. While in Edge the favorites are available but when I go to the default folder they are not listed. Is there another location they may be being saved or has my default location somehow been changed? My AppData folder shows a creation date of 11/17/15 with no modifications being made in favorites since that date.
When trying to print a pdf, it automatically defaults to Microsft edge and brings up the printer box. I try to click on the 3 dots and press print however nothing prints.
So yesterday I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 from windows 7. I had to update manually with a usb as for some reason Get Windows 10 app wasn't appearing.however for some reason Microsoft Edge refuses to download anything, it just stays there at 0.00bytes forever.I have fully updated my Windows and there are no new updates available.
I am getting popups on my Microsoft edge and its not opening websites properly and i would like to know how to reset edge browser , i know how to reset Internet explorer. but not aware about Edge.
I have Logitech X-530 and when I play a video in Microsoft Edge or any browser only the front speakers work as usual. But sometimes, only in Microsoft Edge, when I play a video in YouTube the player says "An error occurred" and then all the speakers start working. I don't know how but my question is isn't there a way to make all the speakers work not only when "An error occurred"?
When I first upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10 all my Favorites imported into Microsoft Edge. At the time I didn't know that the Favorites for Microsoft Edge are stored in a different folder other than the Windows 7 folder of C:usersmikefavorites. I was told that they are stored in the folder C:UsersMikeAppDataLocalPackagesMicrosoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbweACMicrosoftEdgeUserDefaultFavorites but this is only true for the Favorites that imported during the original Windows 10 Update. Any Favorite that I delete from the Favorites list in Microsoft Edge doesn't get deleted from the Windows 10 Favorites Folder. In addition any new Favorites I create in Microsoft Edge do not show up in the Microsoft 10 Favorites Folder either. So where the heck are they?
What i am trying to do is; like in IE, Firefox, Chrome etc. i want to change the new tab page behaviour to homepage. I created a page which supports me at home and work, especially a person who really dislike the favorites tab and found my solution in custom homepage (new tab page).
I know that, right now we can't edit the new tab page in Edge (to change into a custom one). There are 3 options to choose. But instead of this, maybe i can edit the registry input and change the blank page into my local page.
i have windows preview for both my PC and surface pro 3.
I updated my pc first and got Microsoft edge browser and created my favorites tab.
I then updated my surface pro 3, but i dont see a way to sync up the browsers so that my favorites show up on my microsoft edge on my pro 3. I rather not have to do the favorites bar again.
Today I started trying Microsoft Edge for the first time and noticed that I can't find my list of favorites which I have on Internet Explorer. In WP8/8.1 the list used to show up after I hard reset my phone, so I am wondering if Microsoft Edge has its own list of synchronized favorites, or if I have messed up with my WM10 where the browser couldn't synchronize to my account.
Microsoft Windows Search Indexer process its eating 10-15% of CPU and I think this is the reason why HDD temperature its always over 122F (50C).
I have disabled Cortana but no luck, will I return to Windows 8.1
Edit: What I have tried so far
1. Turned off indexing on both partitions - restart
2. Disabled Windows Search from services - restart
3. After various restarts some how Microsoft Windows Search Indexer it's not showing in Task Manager, so half of the problem it's gone, but the HDD Temperature it's still above 122F (50C) with nothing running.
My new laptop came with Edge. If I uninstall Edge, can I get normal IE back? Also, just how do you sort your favorites alphabetically? Nothing is obvious about this program at all. Much like Bing, I think Edge totally misses the mark (whatever that is).
i decided to do a fresh install of Windows 10. I've faced two BSOD already, usually i was getting these due to graphic card issues previously however i haven't even installed any drivers yet.I've attached the SFTool files and the text file from BlueScreenView.
The specs are: Gigabyte H87M-D3H i7-4770 AMD Redeon HD 7770 16GB G-Skill Ripjaws Ram 128GB Sandisk SSD 1TB Segate HDD
Out of habit I ran SFC scan after finishing Win10 upgrade & Windows Updates and found out that MicrosoftEdgeSquare44x44.scale-125_contrast-white.png is corrupted. After a quick google search, seems there a few other Win10 users with the same problem.Neither SFC or DISM seem to be able to fix the problem.I also saw someone mention this is a 'false positive' hash mismatch but at least in my case the image really is corrupted (as in, if I open it in a image editor, it fails with corrupted image error). All other Edge images in the folder open correctly in image viewer.
how to repair systemapp files? I'm assuming DISM/SFC fail because the system apps seem to be different from regular system files (e.g. you cannot find them on the install media from what I can see).
I tried right clicking on the file and shortcut but it only says Unpin from Start, and also tried dragging and dropping, but just shows a error symbol on my mouse and takes file back to its position on the desktop. It just randomly disappeared from my taskbar and was left on my desktop one day when I was logging in, and I can't get it back on the taskbar.
