I have a form with a subform. In the subform (based on a different form) I need a button to close the master form. In the subform I need to find out what the master form is so I can close it. Since I use the same subform in multiple forms I can't really hard code the name of the master form.
I have 2 forms, a master and a subform. In the subform form there are some required fields. In the table behind the subform I choose the property of these fields to be required. but in the master form, when I start enter the information I can go to the next record without even touching the subform.
How Can I make the subform required in the master form?
My bound master form has bound subform in it and both of them has linked fields. In the master form i've placed a checkbox which if unchacked will lock and disable a textbox in the SUBFORM, and if checked will enable and unlock the textbox and fill it with a calculation result, which will then be passed on to the underlying table.
Now, suppose in the master form (named X), i have A (checkbox) and B (textbox with numeric value) and in the subform (named Y), i have C & D (both textboxes with numeric values). Hence if A is checked, I'd like D to return the result of - "B*C". Or else D will remain locked and disabled.
I have a Master form which includes tabs within the tab I have subforms. I am looking for a way to filter my master form based on data found within my sub form.
I have a check box within one of the sub-forms called "softwareInstall" if yes the box would be checked. I want to filter all customers within my main form with a check box in my main form to turn on and show all customer who has this box check within the subform SoftwareInstall=True.
I have created a master form, which is a tab style. I have five additional forms that I want to use as sub-forms within each tab. I also want to include master navigation buttons that will work for each sub-form in unison. In other words if I navigate to record 10 on tab 1 and switch to tab 2, I want the new tab to show the information related to record 10. It would appear that I need to link them together in some fashion.
I have a form, a subform and a master unique table. I need the unique table to updated in the following manner: Form has certain fields that need to be assigned to every record created in the subform[id] and [info1] Subform has a unique [caseid], and contains further [info2] but needs to be bound into [id] in the main form. Example of the master unique table:
I've managed to accomplish this with a linked table&subform structure, but the master unique table looks like crap because it collapses the subform values into sub-records in the master table when the [id] is similar. The data is in the rigth place, i just want it not to be collapsed/expanded, but every unique recors shows in the table in the regular format
I have a form and a subform in MS Access 2003. I have made some changes to database structure, so I decided to change the subform also. When I changed the Link child and link master fields, the controls of the subdatasheet dissapear- they show only in design view. If I clear the contents of Link child and link master fields they appear again, but the records are not binded. Is there a setting on the parent form that also has to be changed, to make the new binding?
frmTaskTracker -subfrmInbox (Datasheet View - based on a query)
frmUpdateInboxItem
subfrmInbox displays a summary of tasks on a task list. The user navigates to frmUpdateInboxItem from frmTaskTracker. After updating a record from frmUpdateInboxItem, it is possible that it the record in question will no longer meet the requirements to have it listed on subfrmInbox.
I have attempted to add code to the on close event of frmUpdateInboxItem to requery the sub form on frmTaskTracker but am not getting the syntax correct.
correct my code? Alternatively is there is a more correct way to do this, I'd be happy to learn it.
Code: Option Compare Database Private Sub cmdClose_Click() Me.[frmTasktracker]![subfrmInbox].Requery DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmUpdateInboxItem" End Sub
I have a form, frmProjects, with a continuous subform, sfrPeopleOnThisProject. They have a master-child relationship. The form shows one Project record at a time, while the subform shows all the People records for that project. This works as expected - the correct records show up in the subform as you move through the form records.
To make it easier to glance through the list of subform records (as they can sometimes be quite long), I've added a navigation combobox to the header of the subform. If I understand correctly, as the combobox is within the subform, it should obey the master-child relationship: it should only show the subform records associated with the main form's current record. It does not. Instead, the combo box collects *all* of the records from the table that the subform is based on. So, choose the record for Project 1 in the main form. Up pops the 2 people on Project 1, but the combo box lists both the 2 people on Project 1 and the 3 people on Project 2.
The row source for the subform combo box is:
SELECT tblPersonOnProject.PersonOnProjectID, tblPerson.Fullname FROM tblPersonOnProject INNER JOIN tblPerson ON tblPersonOnProject.PersonFK=tblPerson.PersonID ORDER BY Fullname;
I can make the combo box perform as required by adding "WHERE Project=Forms!frmProject!ProjectID" to the row source and placing a hidden textbox on the main form for ProjectID (the autogenerated primary key) to sit. Have I misunderstood the point of the master-child relationship in the subform? This hidden textbox thing can't be correct.
I have attached a condensed copy of my form/sub-form that has calendar controls on it for the RecvdDt and the Compliance date. I have it set up the say way as I have on other databases and it will not close/populate once opened. I have reset the events on it multiple times and I just can't get it to go.
Can anyone please take a quick look and help me determine why it is not working on this form yet works on others that I have.
I have a subform that displays results based on selections from cascading boxes on the form. I am trying to print them to a report. I think my procedure is correct for the print button and Im afraid my problem is that the form is not based on a seperate query. Is that they only way to be able to print? It is based on procedures defined in the cascading boxes. How can correct it so it will print the results to a report? Thanx.
There are total three tables tblInternal, tblExternal, tblCourses. Table tblInternal and tblCourses is one to many relationship by reference foreign key InternalID from tblCourses to tblInternal. If I just use these two table to set up Master form and subform in ACCESS, you can in subform Field Linker window of subform property Data tab select primary and foreign key to generate link between Master and subform. So if you select user name from tblInternal in Master form ComboBox, you can see the detailed information the user relates to.
Same relation between tblExternal and tblCourses.
Now I want to merger tblInternal, tblExternal to list user name in ComboBox by Union statement. But in SubForm Field Linked window I just see one primary key from one of these two tables instead of two primary keys from each table.
Hello I have a small problem that seems weird. I have a form which displays a subform with all correspondending jobs for one individual. The problem is the sub form displays the main form information with the other jobs. Im trying to stop the subform from displaying the current mainform's job information. So it won't look like there are more then 1 of the same jobs to other individuals. Can someone help me with the correct method to stopping this. Thanking you in advance,
How to structure some MS Access 2007 Forms for the following scenario.
My table structure is as follows:
Product ++++++ ID (pk) ProductName ...
Tag ++++ ID (pk) TagName
ProductTag +++++++++ ProductID (fk) TagID (fk)
I want to have a main form that allows me to search for and displays a list of all products (and the dozen or so attributes for each product) that meet that criteria (I'm thinking a continuous form view of products).
So far so good. No problems.
Now I want a "tagging" form to the right of my continuous forms product list that is linked to the product which currently has focus. The tag panel should always show a complete list of all Tags. I want a checkbox next to each tag that I can switch on and off whether that tag applies to the currently selected Product. I also want to be able to add tags on the fly (without leaving the main form).
I think I have three forms in play :
Main Form Product Form (subform to Main) my product search criteria is probably on this form header. Tag Form (also subform to Main)
But with this approach I'm have trouble linking the two sub forms to each other. Actually, I'm having huge trouble figuring out how to display the list of all tags with a check box that when checked on and off creates / deletes a record in the ProductTag table and I really want Access to do as much of the CRUD as possible. I would prefer to avoid writing screeds of SQL INSERTS/DELETES on events. Am I asking too much of Access?
I have a split form that's like a list of pending tasks. The data source is a linked SharePoint 2013 list where users submit requests. The user takes the information from each record and performs an action. When it is done, the user presses a button and the task status changes from "Pending" to "Processed". The form record source is based on a query that finds only records with a status of "Pending" so when the user changes the status of the task, it is removed from the list. It works fine except when there is only one task left in the work list. If the user processes the last task, the form refreshes and it goes to a new empty record and I get an error message that says I must enter a value into one of the required fields. I tried making the field non-required but it just creates an empty record in the table.
I am using the method from allen browne [URL] .... to open a form and add it to a collection and when removing it it closes. actually, usually it does work so but i have now a form which does not close until i am hitting the reset button in VBE , is there something i could check why it's not functioning as desired ?
Just to add, this form has a subForm as well (might be the cause ?)
I have a timer form which closes the database after a period of time with DoCmd.Quit. Another form is open at this point but if a user has left it in the middle of editing it I want to be able to save the record in the other form and close it before the timer form closes the database.
What VBA do I need in the timer form to save the record and close the other form before DoCmd.Quit? Just to be clear the code is...
Private Sub Form_Timer() On Error Resume Next Me.Tag = Val(Me.Tag) - (Me.TimerInterval / 1000) Me.Caption = "The database will exit in " & Me.Tag & " seconds" If Val(Me.Tag) <= 0 Then
When the user clicks to close the form the Before Update event runs, and has the following code to check that all the required fields are completed:
If IsNull(Me.ToxReceived) Then stdresponse = (MsgBox("You must enter the toxicology received date before continuing." & Chr(13) & Chr(10) & Chr(13) & Chr(10) & _ "Do you want to do that now? Click YES to return to complete the form, click NO to undo the record", vbYesNo, "Missing Data"))
If stdresponse = vbYes Then Me.ToxReceived.SetFocus
Else Cancel = True Me.Undo Exit Sub End If End If
If the user clicks no, and the record is undone, how do I get the close form event to still continue?
i put a button that run the command "docmd.close" but i found when i click it it close the form but with saving all data in field in the table, but this button should cancel record insertion, i hope i can find the answer here.
I have a form that I want only to be opened from another form (i.e. the user presses a button from form1 and form2 is magically displayed).
My solution: In form2, I check to see if form1 is open in "use" mode. If not, I display a message and close form2.
The problem: The close code (docmd.close) is at the beginning of Form_Current. Apparently, Form_Current doesn't like to be interrupted. I receive a run-time error 2585 (This action can't be carried out while processing a form or report event).
Ok, so, umm, how exactly am I supposed to close the form? I tried the check during Form_Load instead, using the cancel variable instead of the docmd.close. However, I don't think this code got executed. It's almost like the form was already loaded or the Form_Load occurs after Form_Current (In my handy chart here, it says that Form_Current occurs when a form containing data is first opened and when you move to a different record.. so, I suppose it is possible).
