Form Or Table: Auto Entered Value

May 19, 2005

Hi there

I have a small problem that I was wondering if someone could help with.

When a user creates a new record I would like it so that some html is written automatically in to a defined column.

Is this possible? I tried to use the default value property of a column but access does not like it.

Any ideas

Thanks :D

Forms :: Value Entered In Form Does Not Appear On Table

Nov 14, 2014

I am having an issue in access form that when I enter new values in a form it does not appear on the table. Normally, as I understand, value entered in form should appear on table automatically. This is not happening to me.

I checked the design view of the form and find that the data is linked to table, but in reality it is not the case.

Stop Access From Changing Format / Value Of Data Entered From A Form Into A Table

Oct 7, 2012

I have a database (split into front and backend). Users populate the table using a form on the front end. Recently, it has been pointed out that some of the data entered into one specific textbox is being changed on the table. The data entered is always has a minimum of a letter and number value i.e. "A1", "A2" etc. Upon examining the table, this has changed into numeric values i.e. "1291", "1061", "852"... etc. Looks like it is translating them into both 3 and 4 digit numerical values by the looks of things. Where more complex data is entered such as "2(A1, A2)" these seem unaffected.

The field is set to text, I have set no validation rule, format or input mask. Just can't see why access is changing these values. It seems to be translating them, but I can't see a pattern.

Auto Populating Fields In A Table/form

May 5, 2008

Sorry for posting into another thread about this, but here's my problem:

Hello All. Finally getting my pride out of the way and asking this. I've searched and this is the closest question pertaining to the problem I'm having. I have created a form to populate a table in Access. I've created Lookup fields for parts of the table that will get data from another table/tables. I want a certain part of the form to auto-populate data based off of the last name I put in the initial Drop-down box. Say, I have a person with a last name (and there are several with the same last names), I want the remainder of that line in the form/report to populate with his/her data needed for the form letter. Unfortunately right now, I have it where we have to select each from a drop down menu, for both last names, first names and other data needed. I've tore my brain up trying to figure out how to link the data in each one of the combo boxes to the first combo box. Any help would be appreciated. These are driving me nuts as I should be able to figure this out and it's just escaping my vision I guess. Thanks in advance for the help.

Forms :: Form / Table Auto Population?

Aug 3, 2015

I've created a table with a form that includes multiple fields that autopopulate after I enter a certain date into the "reciept date" column. After I hit enter or tab, the autopopulation accures. After I completed the table and form for autopopulation, I was tasked with adding even more autopopulating columns to the tablel that was completed. After adding the additional columns to the table and adding the extra code in it's proper place, doing everything exactly like the night before, the autopopulate does not work for any of the columns.

Form Field To Auto Pull Data From A Table When There Is A Match

Feb 5, 2013

I have built a nice database that has a form to enter data which logs in product received, there is a combo box on the same form that is linked through the query builder to auto populate the names from the contacts info table (the receivers of the product received) the contacts info table also contains information that is specific to each name such as locations.

As of now I have created a command button that brings me to the form that shows the information fields I need specific to a name, once I get that I have another command button to bring me back to the main form. How to create an additional list box on the main data entry form so as when the name is entered the new list box or text box (which is best?) will auto populate the information I need on one form instead of going back and forth.

Example:

Requester Name [ auto populate name ] currently linked to contacts info table (working)

(New field) Preferred Location [ need to auto populate location ] from the contacts info table (how do you pull locations specific to a contact name from the same table?

Tables :: Auto Fill Part Of Form From Project List Table?

Nov 14, 2012

I have a master list of projects, with project reference number, project name, and nature of project.

I have also got a form for individuals to fill in details of project events, with date, time, name, and two or three other fields - also included are project reference and name. I'd like the name field to be auto filled when the user selects the project reference from a combo box; I think? (the list only shows open projects).

I'd did something similar some years ago in Access 2003 (I think) but cannot figure it out in the version I'm currently using 2010.

Conbo Box Selection To Be Entered Into A New Table

Aug 2, 2005

My Combo Box works and displays new entries in text boxes in my form. The selection appears in every record. I would like the selection to be stored only in the displayed record and not for each and every record. Any ideas?

My combo box works on an existing query( Qry1). I would like the data from my query (Qry1) to be displayed in the record (in Form1) which I am viewing. When I go onto a new record (IN Form1) I would like to make a new selection from my query (Qry1) and then store these details in the new record in Form1.

I am a little frustrated - please help.

Forms :: Calculations Not Entered Into Table

Mar 18, 2013

I created a Form to enter data into a table. Two fields are numeric and typed into, a third field calculates the ratio instantly. I did that by entering "=field1/field2" into the control box in the properties panel for that form element.

However, when I look at the table, all the data goes in except this calculated ratio. Is there a way to get the form to "write" it to the table?

Alternatively, how to get the table to act like a spreadsheet and automagically calculate that third column, then it actually doesn't even need to appear on the form.

Storing The Date The Record Was Entered Into A Table

Jun 27, 2006

Hello everyone. I am wanting to store the date the record was entered into the table. But I don't want the users to have to type this in; I thought that Access could grab the date from the system date.

I am new to this and I looked at the Date function but I am thinking it will just always update to the current system date.

Thank you very much if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Forms :: Append Data To A Table Entered By User

May 20, 2013

How I would go about appending data to a table that has been entered by a user on a form.

My initial idea to tackle this was to create a number of text boxes as a method of user input which would all then transfer to a table but this doesn't have much longevity to it(if the database requires additional columns to be added, etc.)

The setup at the moment is two tables, a main table, and a temporary table(which is where I intend to first store the user input, this is so that the user can view what they have entered and make any necessary changes(undo))

I'm wondering if there are any easier ways to go about this such as, a msgbox appears and asks the user to enter each individual column data for a row. This doesn't sound like the most efficient way but efficiency isn't a priority right now and is something I'll look at later.

I'd like it so that a user can input data into a number of text boxes, a button has an onclick event that will append all entered values to the temporary table, this is then relayed(I'm assuming through requery?) back to the user as a way of checking before really adding it to the main database, and then if they're happy there is another button which is then enabled so they can add it to the main database.

Repeat Last Entered Value In Data Table In Access 2002

Apr 11, 2012

In my office we have used Access 2002 for many years. We enter data directly into a table. Many values are repeated row after row, with only slight changes in a few fields. I am looking for a way to automatically have the previous value in a field entered into the current row, and allow this value to be modified if it has changed, but then become the new "default" value for following rows. I have searched the web and found solutions when using forms, but nothing for entering data directly into a table. I have also seen the suggestion for Ctrl + ', this works but I would rather it be done automatically.

Entered Value In Form Must Not Overwrite Tables

Nov 8, 2004

HELP!!! I am getting quite desperate. I am a novice. I have made a database for customers, products, etc. They all have good relations. I have made a query where I can see who bought what and when and how much it costs. Now here's the problem. When my prices in my product list (this is the table of which the prices show up in my form) have to be altered (because of prices going up), it automaticaly changes the query and the form!! According to messages stated in this forum, I have opened the properties in the text boxes and changed the price fields, "enabled" to no, "locked" to yes, and the forms DataEntry to yes. Strangely in the North Wind example, the prices shown in the form (entry form), are extracted from the subformdetails table. But how can you extract something from a table if there is nothing in the table?? Totaly I have four tables (Orders, Orderdetails, Products and Customers) Alle these tables are joined on a one to many basis.
Please can somebody help me.....
Thank you

Can I Set My Form Default To Last Entered Record

Oct 1, 2005

Hello, I have a program/database that I'm building in Access 2003, It has new client/bid entry form that has many text boxes for instance: Client, address, Phone numbers, Date etc. These text boxes are actually populating the same text fields in the PrimaryBid_Master form.

My question is every time I fill out the client entry new bid form and then exit to the PrimaryBid _Master form it defaults to the very first record entered, and I would like it to default to the last record entered, The record I just got done entering into the new client bid form, this would save me from having to filter/find it every time I enter a new bid/client, Is this possible and if so Can you describe to me how I can have my program do this?

Thanks--Chuck I really appreciate any help/suggestions.

Verify If Data Was Entered On Form

Oct 18, 2004

Hi all..

This is my first question posted on this site. I have created a survey with questions to be answered. The database is already populated with records of the people's names who were getting the survey. What I need is when the data entry clerk brings up the customer's name on the form, is that they are forced to enter the surveys answers for certain questions before they click the "Save" button. The answers are set up as radio buttons on the form (ie Less than 6 Months, 6 Months, 8 months and 1 Year).

Not sure if a Before or AfterUpdate macro is needed?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Please email me directly if you have code.

Thank you

Form Does Not Display New Records Entered

Jan 10, 2005

Hi,

I am new here and have been using the build features (and not the code as I do not understand this) to build my registration database.

I have several tables of imported data nicely displayed in one form with tabbed sections. When I tried adding new records by entereing them in the form, they are saved in the underlying tables but the new records are not displayed in the form when I go back into the form.

All the tables seem to be linked to the form when I go into the form selector and Edits are allowed in the property box.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Danielle.
