I am trying to clear a textbox after the user enters an invalid date and I do not know why the following code is not working:
Private Sub txtStart_AfterUpdate() If Not IsNull(Me.txtStart) Then If Not IsDate(Me.txtStart) Then MsgBox "You have not entered a valid date" Me.txtStart = Null Me.txtStart.SetFocus End If End If End Sub
I am building a form in access and I am trying to find a way where user input isn't possible in the associated textbox when "No" from on option box is selected.
I have 3 tables, tblClients, tblClientDetails, and tblSchedulingDetails.
I have a field in tblClientDetails to contain the client number from tblClients, and I have two fields in tblSchedulingDetails to contain the client number and the client details number.
I then created a form that holds most of the fields for all of the tables mentioned above to enter new client names, new client address info, and basic client scheduling info.
Now, I have set the default values using the property sheet in design view for the following:
ClientNum > ClientNum_tblClientDetails and ClientNum > ClientNum_tblSchedulingDetails and ClientDetailsNum > ClientDetailsNum_tblSchedulingDetails
I promise this is not a riddle...
Here's the quandary - ClientNum_tblClientDetails is autofilling from tblClients, and ClientDetailsNum_tblSchedulingDetails is autofilling from tblClientDetails, but ClientNum_tblSchedulingDetails is not autofilling in spite of the fact that the default value is set with =[ClientNum].
I then created a modal dialogue form with the fields from tblClients and tblClientDetails with a command button that opens another modal that contains the fields from tblSchedulingDetails, set the appropriate default values, and the ClientNum_tblSchedulingDetails autofills as needed.
The question at hand is, why do I have to use modal dialogue forms to perform this action and cannot do it in one single form?
I am using a DLookup to default a value in my TextBox. This text box has an event attached to it that updates a table when a different value is entered.
I am having difficulty in getting the default value to reappear when I change my criteria.
For instance Manufacturer is Ford
Colour is default Black
I Change the colour to red
now I change Manufacturer to Audi
I need Default colour to go back to Black
The Lookup Table says Black its just that the default value only seems to run once, first time in and never again unless i exit the database and reopen it.
I have tried adding
Form.Repaint form.Refresh Form.Requery to my afterupdate query
Is there an efficient way to have default text in a textbox on my form (like a search box), but have it so that when a user focuses on the textbox (to type in a search term), the word should disappear.
Just like the search box on windows 7 start menu.
Then, is there a way to have the default text not be the actual text in the box? Otherwise, my search box will search the default text.
i have a form with various tabs and a number of fields. If I could I would just select all fields to "required=Yes" in the table design mode. But some fields should only have data entered if another field has a certain value. So, I think I just want all visible fields for this data requirement (I set some fields to visible=false if I don't want them to have a value).
So far I tried to do this on click of the Submit Record button which I created using the "docmd.gotorecord, , acnewrec" statement, but I can't seem to make it work when combining it with if then msgbox statements. Plus I typed an if then statement for every required field.
Here's my code below:
Private Sub AddNewRecord_Click() On Error GoTo Err1 DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec Me.Label216.Visible = False Me.CM_2A.Visible = False
I have a form that a user fill out to populate fields in my database...how can I make it so that user MUST fill in certain fields before they are allowed to save data?
I need to stop users from taking shortcuts when entering data, and skipping a lot of fields. So i would like to be able to specify the minimum fields, and an error message must show when they try save incorrectly to alert them to this.
I need to be able to restrict users enter a value in the text box (on Form B) called "FTE Assigned" if Dsum of a field called "FTE Allocated" in another form A is less than what is going to be sum of FTE Assigned after the value is entered.
Both these forms are used by users to enter data in the 2 separate tables which are linked together through a join.
Master table - having FTE Allocated values and secondary table having FTE Assigned values.
Basically a message box would do if Dsum (of FTE used) is coming out higher than FTE allocated.
Code: Private Sub Check253_AfterUpdate() If Me.Check253 = -1 Then Me.Text254 = DLookup("[Lot]", "[tblAutoGen]", "[Inuse] = -1") Me.Text256 = DLookup("[Exp]", "[tblAutoGen]", "[Inuse] = -1") Me.Text258 = DLookup("[Lot]", "[tblEthanol]", "[Inuse] = -1")
[Code] ....
I am using the code above on my form and it seems to be working. My question is there a way to populate a textbox (Text255) based off a login?
For example, lets say JSmith is loged in to the computer. Is there a way that JS could populate Text255? If then say JCarter is logged on, the JC populates Text255.
I have a form bound to a table, with a subform in there, and I have a textbox with a source one of the table's fields. I would like the value of this textbox to be calculated based on the values of some boxes in the subform, but I also wont to be able to edit the value on the textbox myself.
Is it possible to have a textbox that get its value both from calucaltions and user input?
My table have orderid along with other columns, i want to create a form where i am having a textbox for order id input by user. Firstly when user sees the form its only with the textbox and table fields, when i put the order id in the textbox the listing should be made.
How can I make certain my user enters records on a subform before attempting to save the main form? Right now they can completely ignore the subform before saving the record. The Main form has business address, etc. on it. the subform is bound to a join table that lists the multiple categories, subcategories and sector the business is listed in for a directory.
I already have my fields set to required at the table level in the join table, and have some existing VBA in both my subform (to update edited date) and my form (to validate empty records where a certain condition is met) but that's not the issue...
How do I focus the user to enter a record on the subform to the point where they are forced to enter something and complete the subform before the record is updated.
I would like to put a text box (user) and checkbox (check100) on a form, that when the checkbox is not checked the value in Gender switches. In an AfterUpdate I would use a code to capture the user login.
Code: Private Sub Check100_AfterUpdate() Me.User = Environ("UserName") If Me.check100 = 0 AND Me.Gender.Value = "Male" THEN Me.Gender.Value = "Female" ElseIf Me.check100 = 0 AND Me.Gender.Value = "Female" Then Me.Gender.Value = "male" End If End Sub
I have a form with a Count textbox. It's control source is a field named "Audit Count" in the table "DB Audits". The idea of the textbox is to display a running count of how many audits a specific auditor has completed that day. To do this I have the textbox set up with a default value of:
Assuming I'm using the DCount function correctly, this is supposed to count the number of [Loan Number] records entered in the "DB Audits" table by the auditor (whose name is found using fOSUserName()) on today's date. So, for example, when opening up the form at the beginning of the day the Count textbox would read 1 and when the auditor clicked Save and New it would increase to 2.
The problem I am having is something I encountered while doing some random tests of the form. If an auditor submitted an audit (let's say the 1st of the day), the form correctly displays the next count as 2. However, if the auditor were to delete the record from the underlying "DB Audits" table while the form was still open, if they were to enter a new record, the Audit Count field would display 2 even though it should be 1 (since the 1st record had been deleted).
How can I have the Count textbox refresh whenever someone deletes a record from the table while the form is still open? I tried a Requery command using the AfterDelConfirm event but I couldn't get it to work.
I have a new staff member in my office that has informed me that she has a degree of dyslexia. To assist her I've trialled changing the textboxes on one form in my Access 2013 application to a light pink color & this has instantly worked for her to read/input text.
Is there a way to automatically change each textbox to light pink on every form in my application on startup based on user login (say using an IIF statement in the OnLoad event of the startup form).
Ineed to track Trailer security seals that are sequentially numbered with 8 digit numbers...They are physical seals and no efile with the numbers to upload into Access...is there a way I can put in a range and Access will populate the rest in a table?
I have a textbox and a command button by this textbox that performs an action based on the value in this textbox when clicked.
I want to be able to press the enter key after entry into the textbox and have it perform the same thing the command button does.
I tried Calling the commndbutton procedure from the OnEnter event from of textbox, but it tries to process as soon as i "start entering data into the textbox". I hope i am clear? How do i achieve this, so that by pressing the enter key after entering a value in my textbox, my textbox value is processed, instead of clicking the command button.
This is just to enhance usability. Any help will be mucho appreciatied :D
I'm not sure which forum to ask this in so I've popped it in here.
I've just had to alter a couple of reports to add some calculations. These calculations can only work with a figure in certain fields, so i've altered the default setting of the fields to '0'.
Now my problem!!!!!!! This is fine for any new records generated. How do I place a '0' in the 2000 odd records already generated without manualy inputting them in???
I have a form which contains several controls and a listbox. I have set the Default setting to yes for a command button that returns the results of the search, so when i click the Enter key on any control (with the exception of other command buttons), the result is returned.
Question: I want to prevent the Default command button from activating when pressing Enter from the listbox.
I thought of using the KeyDown event with this code If KeyCode = vbKeyReturn Then 'do something End If but i can't get it to disregard the default
I have a textbox called txtcomments on my form. It is bound to a table field defined as Memo. Now i normally would enter text and produce a report from the comments in my table.
I want to be able to enter text like this in my form, so that my report can be formatted like this: All in one textbox (memo table field). Like this:
*************in my txtbox************************ Accomplishments
Etc Etc Etc
Current / Upcoming Work
Etc Etc Etc
Risks / Challenges
Etc Etc Etc
***************end of txtbox*********** Is this possible? If not, how do you think i can achieve this? I am open to suggestions, please help :D
I have a form that has number entries. I changed the Default Value for these numbers to Null because I dont want 0s (they aren't being used for numeric calculations, they just hold a number). I want there to be nothing in the input field until I put it there.
My problem is, when I start to enter info into my form, access automatically places 0s into all my number entries! Is there a way to avoid this? Or should I just make the fields text instead?
