Forms :: Filter Form With Two Text Boxes / Command Button?
Mar 22, 2013
I am trying to filter a form by using two unbound text boxes that a user can enter in their criteria and then clicking a command button to filter the form using the criteria entered into the text boxes. My fields are as follows:
I have a tabbed form from which the user can select a contact's record from a subform on the first tab, click a edit command button, and the unbound text boxes on the top of that tab populate. The user can then click the second tab with employment history which has blank unbound text boxes and another subform which is linked by the contact id to the first tab.
The user can select a record in the second tab, click a command button and the text boxes populate no problem. The problem comes when the user changes the contact on the first tab, and then tries to edit a record on the second tab. Then I get a run-time error '-2147352567 (80020009)' saying the value you entered isn't valid for this field. Why it would work the first time by not the second?
I have a continuous form based on table "INCOMES" that shows all the payments received, which mediums can be (field "PMNT_MEDIUM"):
- check - transfer - taxes - cash
Table "INCOMES" is filled using another form, but in this particular form I just want to show "check", "transfer" and "cash" (not "taxes") so that I can track all the cash incomes.
Note: taxes are loaded because they appear in my invoices and I need them there to reach the invoice total amount. So my form has a search bar which allows me to search by PMNT_MEDIUM listing all "checks", all "cash" or all "transfer". I can also search by payment number (meaning: check number). To that end I have a "search" button that applies the filter. And I have another button that "cleans" the filtering by "putting a "" in the search-bar and then calling the "on click" of the search button".
What I need is, no matter if I click over the "search" or "clean" button, it NEVER shows me the "taxes".Search button, on click code:
If IsNumeric(Me.busq_chq_med) Then Me.Filter = "[PMNT_MEDIUM_NUMB] =" & Me.SEARCH_BAR Else Me.Filter = "[PMNT_MEDIUM] like'" & Me.SEARCH_BAR & "*'" Me.Filter = "[PMNT_MEDIUM] like'" & Me.SEARCH_BAR & "*' or [INVOICE] like'" & Me.SEARCH_BAR & "*'" End If Me.FilterOn = True
I am trying to put a button on a form I have created so that I can use Filter by Form feature on it. I used the toolbox commnad button wizard and chose the Form Operations -> Apply Form Filter option for the button.
Unfortunately, this button does not work for this choice. In the Form view, if I click on this button nothing happens. Other choices in the wizard such as Edit Form Filter etc works.
Does anyone know what could be the problem? Is this an Access bug (i am using Access 2003).
If it is a bug, can anyone suggest what little modifications one might have to do to the VBA code underlying OnClick event for the button to make this command button work?
Hi, I'm an Access newbie. I've designed a fairly simple database to replace an old spreadsheet that was becoming unwieldy -- it was never really used so much for calculation as for data storage, so Access seems more appropriate anyway.
One of the functions I used in Excel was the autofilter, which I found very useful for zeroing in on specific portions of the data. I was wondering how I would do the same thing in Access, and then I discovered the "Filter by Form", which works just fine -- even better actually, since it has the whole and/or functionality.
I was wondering though if it would be possible to invoke "Filter by Form" using a command button. That would make it even easier, especially for some of my users who would almost certainly not know about "Filter by Form" otherwise.
I'm trying to use a command button in a form to filter and open a report. I am able to get it to open the report, but I cannot get it to filter the report based on a combobox in the form. I've tried every combination of code I could think of and find. Here is what I currently have:
Code: Private Sub FilterReport_Click() DoCmd.OpenReport "Report", acViewReport, "First Name='" & Me.FName & "'" End Sub
Code: Option Compare Database Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer) Me.RecordSource = Me.FName End Sub
"FilterReport" = Form Button "Report" = Report "First Name" = Report Field "FName" = Form Combo Box
I have a form with two combo boxes. The first box lists switch names from a query, and the second lists switchports from another query. The switchport query lists all the switchports for whatever switch is selected in the Switch Name combo box, and all the settings for that port (one column per setting). I want each text box to display the corresponding data from the switchport query for the switch selected in the first combo box and the switchport selected in the second combo box.
I currently have two forms: frmE_SAFind and frmE_SAOrder
frmE_SAFind shows results from a query including fields [txtIDPO] and [dtmDate] Example: IDPO Date btnOpnFrm 6543 2/1/05 btnOpnFrm 5681 1/1/05
frmE_SAOrder shows order details including [txtIDPO] and [dtmDate]
I have a open form command button set up on [frmE_SAFind] that opens [frmE_SAOrder]. Is it possible for me to modify its properties so that when the open form command button is clicked, the order details in [frmE_SAOrder] will represent the order that the user is selecting via the btnOpnFrm command?
Example: If I click btnOpnFrm for 6543, [frmE_SAOrder] will show me PO 6543 details.
Hopefully I made myself clear enough to understand. Thanks for your help!
I have created 3 forms, 1 of which will update the sum of 5 text boxes immediately after numbers are entered in, while on the other 2 forms I had to create a refresh button so that the numbers will add up. The properties in all of the forms and the text boxes seem to be the exact same.
When I click the filter button I get a blank message box titled 'Microsoft Access" and an OK button, when closed the filter works perfectly.I have checked this procedure in other forms and it works without showing the blank message box.The only difference with this form is that its control source is a union query.
I need to return a folders directory to a text box on my forms record called Files_Directory when i click the Browse command button... The folder will have more folders within it along with documents all relivant to the folder selected, hense the need for just the folder directory rather than a file.
I have a form with several yes/no boxes (set up as TRUE or FALSE in the table). I want to place a command button, that if i click it, all the check boxes i want to be populated with the value of TRUE, populates them. I was attempting to do this through the expression builder. Would doing this in VBA be a better option? well if any one has any advice, or can help me with this, then thank you.
I have searched the forms and I see codes to apply filters to a button, but can someone tell me what is the code to remove all filters on the current form? I know I can always hit the filter on/off button at the top but im trying to keep users from having to leave the current database form. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
I am facing a problem. i am very amateur at access. I want to design a form on which there is one combo box and one command button. If i made a selection from the combo box and clik on command button it should show all the details related to that particular selection (say Shop Order) on a report. I dont know how to link this things.
report may be like.. Shop Order Description Length Width Hight.. Ax12 xxxxxx xxx xxx xxx Ax 12 for a particular shop order selection there may be no. of parts that should show on. like an assembly thing. Suppose Shop order for a bag is A23 and its different parts are belt and chain... now SHOP Order description ...... A23 belt A23 Chain...
i hope i described my problem.. please do help if you can.. Thank you Hemendra
I have a database and a form that is based off of a simple table. The table has NO look ups and all of the formatting is text. The form is continuous and simply displays these fields. (Kind of like a company roster with name and department). I have two combo boxes at the top of this form in the header with the intent of filtering the form records by department and employee type (lets say A or B).
I have tried every way I know how to get these records to filter and they will not filter correctly. Utilizing methods I have used in multiple other databases, I set the two comboboxes to cascade based on a query in the recordsource. The vba I'm using in the after event of each combo is ....
Me.Filter = "[Brand] = '" & Me.cbobrand & "'" Me.FilterOn - True 'Brand is the "department" and the other identical code is for Personel_Type
This filters the records but independently. So, cbobox1 filters the records to show all Brand 1. When cbobox2 selection is made it shows all the Personel_Type of the selection however the first filter is already disregarded. (i.e. When cbobox2 selection is made, it contains both brands instead of the one I've just selected and filtered in cbobox1. )
Outside of making two queries to account for each possible filter, I have tried setting a filter on the filterON, I have tried a SQL based VBA code, I have tried making two forms and attempting to set the filter on open but either way, nothing keeps the first filter selected (or the FilterON, or both SQL filters, etc). The ONLY way I have found to get it to filter both is with the filter function in Access, which is not useful as my users will not have access to the menu bars.
I have this EXACT same setup in another database and it works fine with 3 cbo boxes with an after even to set a filter for the recordsource for all three.
I have a couple of command buttons on a form. They have embedded bitmaps as pictures with a caption below. For some reason when the forms loads (and also in design view), there is a narrow white outline / border around them. As if the button is drawn on a slightly larger white square? This border disappears as soon as I hover over the button (in form view) or click on the button (in design view).
i am trying to add an import command button to a form so that personnel not familiar with Access can simply push the button and then select the file to import. I want it to import information to a specific table by replacing all records in the current table with the import. I am not the best at coding, but I can understand enough to figure out what I may need to do.
I will be exporting a table to excel from the database. Multiple people will have this database and often times will not be able to access a shared database, so I need to export the table and then set up a way for them to import the excel document into their database by deleting the information in the old one and then updating to the new one.
I have a continuous form in which I put a command button for each record called "detail". I would like to click on the "detail" button and make it open another form containing all (and only) the info on this record.
At first I refused to use an "id" to link both forms, but finally I added the "id" in the table... however still does not work.
continuous form: "04 - GASTOS_BUSQUEDA" id field on continuous form: "Gastid"
pop-up (details) form: "GASTOS_EDITAR" id on pop-up (details) form: "editar_id"
This is what I have tried on the "click" properties of the "details" button field (called "btn_editgs"):
4) Private Sub btn_editgs_Click() On Error GoTo btn_editgs_Click_Err Dim strWhere As String strWhere = "[editar_id] = " & Me.Gastid DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", , , strWhere btn_editgs_Click_Exit: Exit Sub btn_editgs_Click_Err: MsgBox Error$ Resume btn_editgs_Click_Exit End Sub
I am rewriting an old Access 2003 database in Access 2010. When creating new command buttons, the current theme gives them a default appearance. I need to apply this appearance to old command buttons. I know there is a way to select the default button and apply its properties to others quickly. I have done it before but didn't write the process down .
Is it possible to use a command button (update) to update matching records in a form (Test)? I have a file (april.xlsx) in which the first column Cytogenetics ID (14-xxxx) is a unique identifier that matches a record in the database. The next column Result (NL-F, NL-M, F-VUS, M-VUS, A-M, A-F) and the date column next to it are what need to be updated in that record. In the database there is a field called Result that needs to be updated with the text from column 2:
NL-F and NL-M = Normal VUS-F and VUS-M = Variant of Unknown Sig. A-M and A-F = Abnormal
There is also a Final TAT Date field in the database that needs to be updated with column 3 in the spreadsheet (Final TAT Date). So basically when there is a match with column 1 in april.txt to a record in the database, the Result field in the database is updated with column 2 of april.txt and the Final TAT Date field in the database is updated with column 3 of april.txt.
Cytogenetics ID Result Final TAT Date 14-0390 Normal 4/11/2014 14-0396 Variant of Unknown Sig 4/18/2014
I have two command buttons in a subform "sbfScoutRegDetails", one that launches a report and the other attaches the report pdf to an email, associated with the record ID when clicked.
Both of these buttons work fine when just the subform itself is open, but when viewing it in its main form, I get a window saying 'enter parameter value' for "Forms!sbfScoutRegDetails!ID" (this is the WHERE condition in the macro). The report then opens with all the record information blank. The full WHERE condition
Not sure if it's because of using a continuous form as a subform? I need the user to be able to view/print or email a contract to each group/contact that signs up.
