Forms :: Populate Subform With Table From Combobox
Feb 14, 2014
I've got an access front-end database running on Access Runtime on a Terminal Server with a back-end on a data server both of which are hosted by a remote company and accessed via Terminal Services. All is well and the database is working fine but because this is a cloud system I need a way that I can easily delve into the tables on the back-end without copying it down locally from the cloud each time (I've set up an "administrator" option so that this would be available to limited users). I've got the front-end forms working as I'd like but I have quite a few tables and I'd like to avoid creating a separate form for every table. I've been able to populate a combobox on my form with the list of linked tables and I'd like that when I choose a particular table from this list that the whole table is then visible within a subform below in case I need to manually intervene with the data for any reason.
I would like to select a record from my combobox dropdown list and have that record populate in my subform. Currently, I am only able to select the 1st record at the top of the dropdown list to appear in my subform. But I would like to select any record from the dropdown list and have it populate my subform.
Database that will show both his side income information as well as his regular income and expenses. I have constructed a tables for the categories, his rec/payables which has information for both his personal & business, the other table he wants to filter only information regarding the business. I set up a form with a subform (business). I need the combo box in the main form to auto populate the matching fields in the business subform, everything but the client name and id. I have tried creating a query for criteria business, it works in query mode but not when I try to use it on the form.
The main form: IncSrc IncAmt ExpSrc ExpAmt ActionDate
The subform IncSrc IncAmt ExpSrc ExpAmt ActionDate ClientName ClientID
I want to append/populate all data from one table to subform?
It is possible?
I managed to populate data from one table to another but my relations between form and subform isn't good, because record that is supposed to be filled as the "link master fields" is left blank.
I have a table filled with company contacts and form with a combo box containing the contacts names.
When a contact is selected I want it to show their Telephone, Mobile and email address in text boxes below. But it only shows the telephone number and the other two fields stay blank.
what I'm doing wrong ?
I have this code assigned to the combobox:
Code: Private Sub MainContact_Change() Me.Text169 = Me.MainContact.Column(3) Me.Text167 = Me.MainContact.Column(2) Me.Text177 = Me.MainContact.Column(1) End Sub
And this is the row source:
Code: SELECT tbl_Contacts.Salutation & " " & tbl_Contacts.ContactForename & " " & tbl_Contacts.ContactSurname AS MainContact, tbl_Contacts.ContactTelephone, tbl_Contacts.ContactMobile, tbl_Contacts.ContactEmail FROM tbl_Contacts WHERE (((tbl_Contacts.ID_Company)=[tbl_CompanyBookings].[ID_Company]));
Is it possible to populate a single combobox with data from 3 different tables.
I have a table called observations (for observing deer), in that table is a field called Location, I have 3 other tables that list possible locations t_foodplots, t_stands and t_section.
I would like to have a combobox called location on my observations form that will allow me to select the proper location from one of those 3 tables, the choices would be something like this...
Section 1 Section 2 Section 3 Stand 1 Stand 2 Stand 3 Foodplot 1 Foodplot 2 Foodplot 3 etc....
The chosen value would be stored in the t_observations "location" field.
I have a form based on a query.On the form I have 4 comboboxes.The combo boxes filter eachother without a problem (based on custom select query).Now I want after the fourth combobox value is selected, I want to populate a text field with a value from a different column from the master query (after the 4 selections only 1 value should be possible)I try to say this easy.Master query contains 5 columns:
- group - type - job - insurance - charge
combo1 selects group (and filters records) combo2 selects type (from remaining records and filters again) combo3 selects job (from remaining records and filters again) combo4 selects insurance (from remaining records and filters again)
[code]....
This works great and the dropbox only shows 1 OF EACH DIFFERENT record...If I add a text box and want to see the "charge" value, that I thought I could use the ME.text-code. But in order to do this, I have to add the charge column into the query of Combo4.the dropbox for insurance gives me multiple values that are the same. Is there any way to make this work?
I would like to create a combobox on a form in which a user has three selections: negative, positive, other.
If negative is chosen a textbox auto-populates with "none detected". If positive is chosen the text box populates with "positive" and If other is selected the text box populates with "unspecified".
In my quality control database QC techs will be entering in test results. Each quality control entry they put in will have a product and lot number it is related too.
My question is about making data entry easier for the QC techs. When two jobs are being run at once, the techs may have to alternate between which jobs they enter, meaning a different product and lot number. It would be frustrating for the QC techs to enter in a product code and lot number for every entry they make.
Can the lot number field be automatically populated when the tech selects a product? Basically, if the tech selects product A, can the last lot number value for product A automatically populate the field in the new entry?
Edit: Currently I have the "solution" of making two instances of the entry form with each lot number entered on the different one. This allows the QC Techs to use the CTRL+ ' to populate the last record, allowing them to quickly enter the product code, lot number, and date of the job they are working on.
Got a bit stuck in a database. I have a form based on a query. On the form I have 4 comboboxes.
The combo boxes filter eachother without a problem (based on custom select query)
Now I want after the fourth combobox value is selected, I want to populate a text field with a value from a different column from the master query (after the 4 selections only 1 value should be possible)
Master query contains 5 columns: - group - type - job - insurance - charge
combo1 selects group (and filters records) combo2 selects type (from remaining records and filters again) combo3 selects job (from remaining records and filters again) combo4 selects insurance (from remaining records and filters again)
Combo4 is based on following query: -column1 Insurance Total=Group by Show=yes -column2 Job Total=Where show=no Criteria [forms]![name].[combo]
This works great and the dropbox only shows 1 OF EACH DIFFERENT record
If I add a text box and want to see the "charge" value, that I thought I could use the ME.text-code. But in order to do this, I have to add the charge column into the query of Combo4.
If I do this, the dropbox for insurance gives me multiple values that are the same. Is there any way to make this work?
Trying to pull information from a text box on double click to populate a combobox on another form...
keeps coming up "type mismatch"
I call lngAccount as recognised on mouseover... ("Business Account" is the value I want)
I can't get it to work!
For info, the form I'm calling from is a subform located FrmMainMenu/FrmAccountsMainMenu and the control source is [Account]
the form I wish to populate in on FrmTransactions (it is a main form only) and the combobox is cboaccountselect - **I've seen the obvious mistake with no reference to this whatsoever, corrected it, and still not working**
On my main form I have a subform which holds two table values. [Roles] & [TrainLevel] example of this looks like this:
Plant Manager - T1 Assistant - T2
and so on for about 12 rows with different roles, each with different training levels.
This subform is then based on a query: [qryRoleEventWithRoles] which also looks at all the other selections, selected on the main form.
eg. User selects a training course on the main form, this then changes the subform and shows what level of training each role requires training in, T1, T2 etc..
All this has been working fine for months, almost a year. Each selection on the subform is based on using two combo boxes [Role] & [TrainingLevel] these are both setup on the subform and using the autonumber field, RolesID and TraininglevelID from two separate tables.
Like I say, this has been working fine. Now, all of a sudden, they've stopped working and telling me I can't change the valve because there bound to an autonumber value. or something like that.
Relationship: Customer ID is the primary key in Customer and is a foreign key in order table.
I need to create a Form with contains all the customer info from the customer table, as a drop down list. Once the customer is selected, all their orders should appear in a subform. At the minute I can get a form to work which shows all the orders but you have to go to the next record so see the order. For example it will say John smith and one order. The next record will be John smith again and their second order in the sub from.
I have used access in the past and I am fine with creating everything apart from the drop down. I am just a bit lost with the structure.
So I have a Form (frmPositions) with a subform attached (fsubPosSkill).They are linked through Position ID frmPositions Record Source is qryPositionNeeds
Code: SELECT tblPositionNeeds.PositionNeedsID, tblPositionNeeds.PositionID, tblPositions.Position, tblPositionNeeds.NeedsID, tblNeeds.NeedStatus FROM tblPositions INNER JOIN (tblNeeds INNER JOIN tblPositionNeeds ON tblNeeds.NeedID = tblPositionNeeds.NeedsID) ON tblPositions.PositionID = tblPositionNeeds.PositionID;
It has two texts boxes on it [PositionID] and [NeedID]
I have a main form that identifies a Client File: frmClientFile (Single Form)
On the main form is a subform for Cases: subfrmCases (Continuous form)
Also on the main form below the Cases subform is a tab control that contains additional subforms to view/update different aspects of a case: subfrmCaseClients (Continuous Form).
The way this operates is that the user first chooses a file using a combobox on frmClientFile.
The subfrmCases is linked to the main form (using the caseFileID) and filters correctly.
The subfrmCaseClients is then linked using some hidden text fields on the main form (using caseFileID, CaseID) and this filters correctly.
On subfrmCaseClients is a combobox (cboClientID) that I need to requery based upon the Case Row selected on subfrmCases.
I have tried numerous combinations of options to force the requery by trying to apply a macro on the following:
OnCurrent, OnSelectionChange, OnChange and AfterUpdate events to no avail.
If I hit F5 to refresh the entire page the combo box gets updated as expected.
How do I get the Requery to work programatically? Is this even possible?
I am trying to use a combo box to refresh a subform. I am working with Access 2007 as my front end and SQL 2014 on the back end. On my main form called frmDealers I have an unbound combobox where the user selects a dealer and then text boxes are populated with address and phone number. I have it unbound because I don't want the user to make changes to the dealership at this point. On the subform I have people that work at the dealership. That form is called sfrmDealerContacts. The subform could have multiple contacts for each dealership. The subform is bound to a query called qryDealerContacts. I have it bound to a query because I want email hyperlinks in the table too. I tried searching the forum and found this thread number 279791.
After searching I added:
Form_sfrmDealerContacts.Form.RecordSource = "SELECT * FROM dbo_DealerContact WHERE DealerID = " & Me![cboDealerName].Column(1)
But this brings up an input box so I must have something wrong. My code is:
I do review SQL sometimes to check what's going on. Access has been a steep learning curve, but my understanding of queries and relationships improved a lot recently.Some of the finer points of forms are just giving me frustration. My form related knowledge probably lags behind my data/table/relationship/query related knowledge. Its probably simple, but as you know these things are not too intuitive at first.
I have a query which (built on another query and some tables in turn) delivers exactly the data I want. I want that data to come up in my form (or datasheet subform actually) BUT, I want to be able to filter for PERSON.ID. I want the user to be able to use a combo-box to do that filtering.
OK then, main form, with unbound combo-box at the top. I assume it should be unbound because I don't want any data edited based on selections which are supposed to cause temporary filtering only (correct me if I'm wrong). For the Row Source I've used a qryWholeName. This query creates a WholeName for each person, and includes their PERSON.ID as well.
[URL]....I cannot see the example DB they have attached in the thread. Finally, my database is likely to be accessed by several people at once. Different users will want to be selecting and filtering for different people simultaneously.
I have a form with a combo/dropdown on the MAIN form and a child subform.I have designated a Master /Child link of ID to FGId respectively linking the combobox with the subform.
However, when a select an item from the combobox I expect to see the subform datasheet refresh accordingly. This is not happenining , even when I force a refresh call on the subform control itself....?
I have a continuous subform with an unbound Concat textbox and would like to populate another field for each record with the results with a main form button onClick event.
I have a form that contains a subform. On the main form, there are 3 fields: [IncidentNumber], [OpenDate] and [OpenTime]. The subform, [CtrlLog Detail] , contains the log entry details for each incident number. Every incident number can have many log entries. Two of the fields on the subform are [EntryDate] and [EntryTime]. The fields work correctly and the forms are fine.The issue Im having is when a new incident number is created the [OpenDate], [OpenTime] and [EntryDate], [EntryTime] MUST be equal because of some filter queries for statistics. Right now the user must physically type in the date/times in these 4 fields when they create a new incident number, which means I'm having lots of data entry errors.
Using default value on either [EntryDate] or [EntryTime] on the subform doesnt work because it doesnt create a primary key for the underlying table and the subform will not allow any other entry (due to some other linked values) until that PK is created. The forms are based on tables linked by [Activity_ID] as the primary key. I want to create some VBA code to see that if the Incident number is a new number (meaning the user must type in the new incident number creating the primary key for [Activity_ID]), that access will automatically populate the [EntryDate], [EntryTime] fields to match the [OpenDate], [OpenTime] fields on the main form. The user will manually populate the [OpenDate], [OpenTime].
If the number is an existing number (and the user is simply adding a log entry to the incident number) then I want [EntryDate], on the subform to default to the system date/time ([EntryTime] should remain blank for user entry) while keeping [OpenDate], [OpenTime] unchanged. When the [EntryDate], [EntryTime] fields are populated on creation of a new incident number, I want the PK for the underlying table ([Log_ID]) to be generated.
I have a main screen that has a tabbed form in it. Each of those tabs has a sub-form in it that displays information and allows some information to be updated.
In one tab I have a query based sub-form that returns information related to the project. This information cannot be manipulated or changed as it comes out of a company managed database. I would like the analysts to be able to add more granular information to a new table by inputting information in a dropdown field for one of the new table fields, but utilizing two of the existing sub-forms fields as identifiers in the new table.
I am setting up a subform in continuous with combobox, but when I enter the data on the first combobox, it duplicated to all the following records. Is there a way to stop that?
I made a subform based of a query that I put in a main form. The subform contains a date field, where a full date is inserted (example 24.12.2015.). What I am doing is making a form where the subform would be filtered by a combobox by months. This may be wrong (correct me if it is), but for values in the combobox I placed number from 1 to 12 (as months). This combobox would then only show records from that month. I used a Change function in VBA on the combobox but I keep getting an error.
This is the VBA on the combobox where I change the record source of the subform. I probably made the WHERE part wrong but dont know how to fix it.
Combobox name is cboMonth. Field where the full date is, is DateOut. Subform is called subCustomer.
Code:
Private Sub cboMonth_Change() Dim SQL As String SQL = "SELECT qryCustomers.SID, qryCustomers.KID, qryCustomers.MMT, " _ & "qryCustomers.Owner, qryCustomers.User, qryCustomers.Policy, " _ & "qryCustomers.DateOut " _ & "FROM qryCustomers " _ & "WHERE Month([DateOut]) LIKE '*" & Me.cboMonth.Text & "*'" Me.subCustomer.Form.RecordSource = SQL Me.subCustomer.Form.Requery End Sub
