Forms :: Returning Difference Between Date / Time Values In HH.MM Format

Dec 11, 2013

I want to be able to display the result of a difference between Date/Time values in "HH.MM" format (i.e. yes I want the result in decimals and I don't want Access to round up or down just because it feels like doing it!). I have used the following:

Example 1:

Dim ActualManHours as Long
ActualManHours = (txtEndTime.Value - txtStartTime.Value) * 86400
txtActualManHours.Value = ActualManHours

Example 2:

Dim ActualManHours as Long
ActualManHours = DateDiff("h",txtStartTime.Value, txtEndTime.Value) & "." & Format(DateDiff("n",txtStartTime.value,txtEndTime. value) Mod 60, "00")

Example 3:

Dim StartTime as Double
Dim EndTime as Double
Dim ActualManHours as Long
StartTime = CDbl(txtStartTime.Value)
EndTime = CDbl(txtEndTime.Value)
ActualManHours = EndTime - StartTime
txtActualManHours.Value = ActualManHours

Forms :: Assign Field With Special Format Based On Date / Time Format

Feb 17, 2014

I wanted to assign the field "Number of magazine" with special format based on date/time format but showing only year and month in the format: "yyyy-mm".

So in property of this field in format I put yyyy-mm and in input mask I type 0000-00;;-

I also created the form based on the table containing above field and I defined format and input mask for corresponding formant in the same way like at the table.

But if I try to type date for example 2014-01 in text box of the form it comes up with the full date 2014-01-01. Why does it do like this? What do I do incorrectly?

Calculating The Difference Between 2 'Time' Values

Nov 12, 2007

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me with the following problem:

I have a table with 2 columns,start time and end time, both containing time values in a four digit format, eg 0930 being 9:30am etc.

I have made a query to convert these into the standard format (eg 0930 becomes 09:30), using left/right and & functions.

Now I use the timevalue function to convert the string , eg 09:30m into a recongnised time value.

The problem is now I want to find the difference between the start and end times- but when i try a simple end_time - start_time formule it returns a long number which i dont understand, rather than just giving me the difference betwen the two times.

Im sure there is a simple way to do this which I dont know, can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!

Queries :: Like Not Returning Results On Date Format

Oct 6, 2014

I have a query which pulls up results based on the value of a text box. All works well except one field has a DOB (date) and if I search say for " /1976" I get no results, however search /76 and all the people with that year of birth show then show up. The date is stored in the dd/mm/yyyy format.

I'm using the like [forms]![clients]![searchfield] in the criteria of the query to bring up results.

Date & Time Difference & Calculations

Aug 17, 2005

I need to calculate (in a query) the Actual Time of a job. I have the start date, start time, end date & end time (all separate fields). This seems to works ok by subtracting the start from the end.

Then I need to calculate the Estimated Time (time it should have taken). This is done by taking the Quantiy divided by the Rate-Per-Hour. This seems to work out ok in the Query, e.g., 101000 / 15000 = 6.66667 hours. But when I display this result in a report as a "Short Time", I get 16:00 instead of 6:40. How can I get the correct display?
The other problem is that I need to divide the Estimated Time by the Actual Time. This also gives me wierd results - I suppose because one is a decimal format time and the other is a "Short Time" format. How can I get the correct answer?

Forms :: Combining Date And Time Values Using DateDiff

Jul 8, 2014

I'm trying to create my own database dealing with hiring bikes on a daily basis.

I have created a form for the basic input, including StartDate, StartTime, EndDate and EndTime, followed by TotalDays. I added the time field so that if a client brings a bike back an hour or two after the pickup time on a later date (sounds complicated - e.g he takes it on Monday at 12pm until Thursday 14pm) then he would be charged for an extra day. It is similar to the car rental system used worldwide.

The TotalDays is currently using a simple expression =EndDate-StartDate.

Is there any way to make the form incorporate the time difference so that if EndTime-StartTime>1 then it would add an extra day to the "=EndDate-StartDate" calculation.

Queries :: Calculate Difference Between Two Date Fields To Get Total Time

Oct 26, 2014

I have to create a query in access that will calculate two Date and time fields [Date & Time Left]/ [Date Returned], need to figure out between the two fields. Trying to identify when the rep returned the call and the number of business hours (6:00am - 4:30pm) it takes to return a message in Ms Access 2010.

The only issue is the calculation has to be done by time and so I have to calculate what time they left the message(so the difference between [Date & Time Left] and [Date Returned) [Date & Time Left] and when the rep returned the message which is suppose to be [Date Returned] but the problem with this field is the data entry is in date format (10/9/2014, 00/00/0000) of Date and not Date and Time like the [Date & Time Left] field, so I don't know what to do now. Not sure what to do now not a database that create or have allot of control over.

Modules & VBA :: Returning Values From A Class For Date

May 19, 2014

I have two class variables (both arrays) among about 10 other class variables, that are not returning any values but "" for the string or #12:00:00AM" for a date. Here are my class variables:

Code:
'UPSData Class Module
Private p_LetterArray() As String
Private p_date() As Date
Private p_LetterArraySize As Integer

My Properties

Code:
'Properties
Public Property Get LetterArray(index As Integer) As String
LetterArray(index) = p_LetterArray(index)
End Property
Public Property Let LetterArray(index As Integer, NewValue As String)

[Code] ....

As I said, tLet and tDate result in "" and #12:00:00AM# respectively. When I step through the code, the values for tmp.LetterArray(0) is assigned "src" and tmp.UPSDate(0) stores "12/25/2013" correctly.

When I assign tLet and TDate, the same thing happens when stepping through the code. I'll use the LetterArray property to describe what happens:

Get LetterArray is called. p_LetterArray(0) does equal "src"
Let LetterArray is called. NewValue is "src" and p_LetterArray is "src" when End Property is highlighted in the debugger
Scope returns to Get LetterArray with End Property highlighted. In checking the values, LetterArray(0) = ""

Same steps happen with the same results ("12:00:00AM" vice "")

Forms :: Setting Text Box Format To Short Date And Optional Short Time

Jun 21, 2013

I want to be able to set text boxes so that if one enters a date and a time it displays in the format "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm", but if one just enters a date is displays in the format "dd/mm/yyyy". Is this possible?

Stipulating "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm" means that when you just enter a date it adds "0" values for the time e.g. entering "21/6/13" gives "21/06/2013 00:00".

General Date allows for an optional time, but it means that when you do enter a time it gives you seconds as well "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss" - and I don't want that.

Shorter Date/time Format

Oct 15, 2005

I wish to insert in a table, not the date, but just the month and year (yy/mm or mm/yy), for example 05/10 or 10/05 for October 2005 (the order of yy and mm does not matter). In addition, I need to be able to sort the records chronologically using the same field.
I have tried various solutions with the date/time field or the number field (e.g. using yy.mm where the mm are the decimals). However, it does not seem to work correctly. Any suggestions for how I can do this by configuring the format, inputs mask and validation rule?

Date/Time Format Issue

Dec 20, 2005

Hi

I'm very new to Access, so please be gentle;)

I have imported a appointment database that I need to analyse, however the Date & Time data within the table has been written as;
Date: 20051220 - which I would like to read dd/mm/yyyy (20/12/2005)
Time: 800 - which I would like to read as hh:mm (08:00)

I would like to produce a report of all the queries, i.e. longest appointment, shortest etc... but display them in the correct Date/Time format.

So how should I go about this?
I cannot alter the imported table in anyway.

1. Can I produce a mirror like table of the existing table, that automatically use the correct Date/Time format?
2. Can I alter the values within a query?
3. Can I alter the final output in the Report?

What is the best way to tackle this?

Output Format Of Date/time

Sep 3, 2005

Hey guys, been away from Access and SQL for some time. I have a simple 2 column table with one thats set to Date/Time that displays the date only. Unfortunaly, when I run my query, the date comes out 7/9/2005 and I want it to come out as 7/09/2005. I know I am going to have to force it out with a format command, but its been so long that I have no idea how to. Right now my query, in SQL format, looks like this.

SELECT * FROM Table1 ORDER BY Date DESC

I just need the format command to force the date. If anyone can help, thx.

When I calculate one date minus an other the result is #error
I require the result to be in a count format e.g 2.3 days (like in excel)

Forms :: ComboBox Doesn't Display Some Values - Returning Blank

Feb 10, 2014

In a form used to record a sale for a company we have a dropdown box with the contact names for that company and when one is selected it populates other boxes like phone number etc however the combobox brings up all possible contacts but when some of them are selected all the boxes return blank, including the combobox, whereas most of the contacts work fine.

The SQL used for the combobox is as follows..

Code:
SELECT tbl_Contacts.ContactTelephone, tbl_Contacts.ContactMobile, tbl_Contacts.ContactEmail, tbl_Contacts.ID_Contact, tbl_Contacts.ID_Company, tbl_Contacts.Salutation & " " & tbl_Contacts.ContactForename & " " & tbl_Contacts.ContactSurname AS MainContact
FROM tbl_Contacts
WHERE (((tbl_Contacts.ID_Company)=[tbl_CompanyBookings].[ID_Company]))
ORDER BY tbl_Contacts.ContactForename;

Forms :: Date Difference In Tabbed Form

Mar 10, 2014

everything has been working perfectly except for date diffs.I am simply using an unbound text box with a date diff as a calculator of sorts, which meets the form's purposes. Everything works fine when the two dates are on the SAME tab using the formula ' =DateDiff("d",[DOB],[date of treatment]) ' entered in the textbox.

The number of days between treatment and DOB pops up immediately.

However, when trying to create a second date diff between two source text boxes on SEPARATE tabs, (i.e. DOB on Tab 1, and date of treatment and the unbound date diff calc box on Tab 2) the date diff does not work unless the form is opened, and closed again. As in, the only time the number of days pops up is if the form is closed and opened again.
