All. using 2010. I have a form and a subform. my master and child links are set but when I scroll thru my form; my subform does not change to show the matching records. I do have an unbound search field for the same field as the master and child links. When I type in the search field for a record; the subform does change to that particular record. Do you think that has anything to do with it?
View RepliesI am currently developing a crude Contact manager database and need a quick way of entering data into a selection of records (around 1000 at a time). At the moment I am manually going through all records and changing the "DateLastEmail" field manually, which can be very tiring.
Any way to assign a button to change the field for all records to today's date or something of the like.
Currently I have a form which filters my subform. The subform resides as a seperate query and when the "Apply Filter" button is pressed it requeries with a change of .filter property, so I guess that all that needs to be done is to change all records that exist within the query, but I am stuck on a way to do this without manually entering it.

I have 2 tables - one called DrawingsRegister and a related one called DrawingRevisions. Each drawing has one or more drawing revisions. I want a query that will show each drawing (just once) that has more than one revision:

I want to filter my subform data, to only show records where field A is a higher value than field B.

This way it doesn't find field B.

How to get the following results using 1 table:
Field1 ID is an auto record ID, field2 ID is actually field1 ID assigned that record, in other words record 1 has a roommate (record 5) assigned to it, record 2 has a roommate (record 4) assigned to it

I only want to display all fields for records, but I don't want to show their matching record, so I want to display record1, but not record 5 because record 1 has record 5 as a roommate, want to display record 2 but not record 4.
Form invoice has a subform that can show max 6 records. Once more records are involved I want to show the last 6 including the new empty record. How to do that?

1, Products
2, Inventory
3,Purchase.
By using a query I have been able to sort the data entered so that all I have left is a list of products that are below their reorder level and the number that needs to be ordered, great so far, this is what I want, but when I try to create a purchase order form as a form/sub form and put in the query I created, there are no products listed, it seems as if I cannot associate the two together, as soon as I link the query for the sub form with the purchase order form.
What I would like to happen is that when I open the purchase order form I can enter the purchase forms details and have all the products that need to be ordered visible in the sub form, the only way that I can get this to half work is to delete the link master and link child fields. If this is the way to go how do I link these products to the purchase order?
I have a form with a subform. I want to use the main form to insert new data and the subform to show all records that are there. One could say that the after inserting a new record with the fields in the form and save it, it should appear in the subform datasheet view.

I tried setting a text box control source = [currentrecord] in the Detail area of the subform but it didn't work . It did weird things because I suspect the control is trying to show the record that has the focus or something
I have been having issues with a subform on the attached database - for some reason it is not always updating to show corresponding records.
What I am planning, this is effectively going to be an interactive learning portal which can test users as well. There will be learning material (not yet included) and a bank of questions with corresponding multiple-choice answers, only one of which is correct. Each time the main form is loaded (Cat1MainForm) it randomly selects and orders questions, then, via a sub-form, returns three potential answers. There will then be radio buttons with which the users can answer appropriately.
If you load up Cat1MainForm and scroll through various questions you will see that sometimes the answers appear, other times not. Sometimes on one record the answers are there, you navigate away and back, and they have disappeared, and vice-versa.
I need to have the sum of the "matching records" of a subform, exported to a variable of the main form, in order to use it in an if condition.
e.g. "IF a client has brought X? times the vehicle A for a service of type B, THEN do ..."
How do I get the X value in a variable within the main form which presents all activity for all clients (by means of a subform).
I hope this is clear.

have set up a navigation form which contains 5 unbound subforms that are made visible or not visible thru the on click event of command buttons on the main form, the subforms have a command button with an embedded macro that searches for a record based on what has been keyed to an unbound text box on the subform, this works fine when the sub forms are opened independently of the navigation form but when the search is done from within the main form, the error message is, "....cannot find the referenced from frmAQIFAList" subform, I tried referencing the main form name infront of the subform name but this also doesn't work, perhaps this would be better with code ? or is it because the subforms are unbound ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue trying to show all records when I load my form. It loads correctly when I don't have a record source for the main form. However, the combobox filters will not work. My goal is to have users be able to use the datasheet, subdatasheet and combobox filters. I can get the form to work just fine when I link the Main form and subform, but when the form opens it is filtered on the first record. I have been successful with this approach when using other forms, but they didn't require a subdatasheet.
Is there anyway I can have the comboboxes to filter yet be able to show all records until the user selects filters? Is this possible?I finally got my Manager to agree to use a database instead of Excel files based on this form setup and I need to make as "user friendly" as possible (look and function like a spreadsheet) I attached some pics of the form along with the code for the filter.
I have a query which looks for like * surname*
in tblemployee fname lname dept active
this works fine and i can search using a requery button
however as deptartments are stored in tbldepts
when i change the query to retrieve the dept name instead of number directly from the table and i try to change this on the datasheet subform it changes it in tbldepts instead?
how can i change what dept the employee is in (as in change the number in tblemployee - but display the actual name?)

I'm a beginner trying to build a simple database for work. I'm trying to track the performance of bonds from month to month, in this case January-April. Each bond has a serial number called Serial_ID, but we wanted to create a record for each month we own the bond, so we created a primary key combining Serial_ID and start date called Serial_Start_Date. So if we own one bond, its January record would have a primary key of "4553123A 2013-01-01" and February would be "4553123A 2013-02-01". I created a form that allows a user to select one individual month's bond and display that month's return. However, I'm struggling to find a way to create a form that allows me to just select the Serial_ID and display the four month's records. Right now there is only one table in the database.

I would like to add a MSG Box "No records found" when the user types in information in any field where no records are available.
Just cannot get this working.
I have two tables, categories and items. I have a form that is linked to the categories table and a subform that is linked to the items table. The user selects a category on the main form then an item to add to the category on the subform. (all of this is functioning correctly - but you need to understand for my question.)
Both the form and the subform have a text box that displays a record from their respective table, for the example we will call this color.
What I need to do is create code that checks the color text box from the category (main form) against the text box for the item (subform) and if they are not a match I need to display a message box - from where I can then add the necessary actions.
EDIT: note this is not a query on an entire table or 2 it is just comparing the two text boxes on the form and subform
I have a form that is bound to a query that returns all records matching a set criteria (namely, the field ApprovalDate is null); the idea is that the user clicks on a command button which gives information, and if the user chooses to continue (vbYes), then the field ApprovalDate has its value set as the current date, and the record is saved.
Next, I have put in DoCmd.Requery to requery the form and effectively go to the next record wanting approval - this appears to work fine, however I need to add something to the code that handles a null return from the requery - preferably a message box and then have the form close.
I have a datasheet form listing prospect information.
Each prospect is assigned a position, there can be more than one prospect with the same position.
I'm trying to get a text box to lookup the prospects position and search the remaining rows for matching positions and return the total number found.
This data does not need to be stored anywhere, just a reference value for users to look at.
1. I created a form with some search-fields which are related to a query. Then I added a Subform in which I put some more Search criteria (So that I can easily hide and unhide those additional searchfields). It sounds strange but is necessary ;-). Now I related those searchfields in the subform to the same query. When I run that query a window pops up that I should put in a value in all those searchfields which are in the subform. But I told Access that it should display all rows, if there is no value in those searchfields. Just as I did it with the Searchcriteria in the Main form. Do I have to do something special, when I have a query which is related to two Forms?
2. I want a searchfield to search in three different columns. Usually the value will just be found in one of those columns. As the Table I search is very long and has many searchfields and multiple of those will relate to more than one column, is there an easy way to do it in VBA? As I did it by using the "or" field when designing a query, but this seems very slow and unstable.

When onClick event happens on the image is displayed the same image regardless of the record on which you clicked. How do I change the code to open the image of the field that was clicked?
Is there a way to add a field to a subform that preforms a net value calculation on all the records in that subform?

The Item Amt is referring to the main form and should be the same amt.I need the Net field to act as a running balance.
