In my database there are fields of type Date/Time, their default value is set to now(). But the problem is that those fields are automatically filled up by English system date. I want my own country's date format, without changing my system date format. So I decided, whenever database is opened it should ask for a date, so the user will give today's date and that date will be used automatically on those fields.

I am facing 3 problems with the above code:
1. Access prompts to enter the start month and end month even when I click the save button.
2. When I run the query it prompts to enter the start month and end month twice.
3. I have generated a report based on the above query. When I run the report it keeps on prompting for start month and end month and does not give the final result.
Is it a common problem with cross tab queries?

I have a report that requires the user's input for a field called UserID.
I also have a form in which I want to have a button that can be used to print off this report (which would involve automatically entering the UserID into it). How do I do this?
Here is the code for the form button that I am using at the moment, but when you click it, Access still needs the UserID (duh!). So, how can I automate the input?

IThe db has a form called ClientFormNew which logs client details into a table called Clients.Each client has a unique client ID in the table called ClientID. Sometimes Clients call back for further information and we want to log that information into a related table called ClientHistory.Each record in the ClientHistory table has a unique ID called HistoryID which is the same number as the ClientID so these fields are related.

I have a database that I created that uses a form to fill out information about server builds. I contains information about who built it, the IP address, server name, etc. I want to be able to create a dailog box that allows the user to input a server name to query the database and create a report based on that input. And if the user input isn't found in the database, a dialog box comes up with some sort of error message. I am still pretty new to Access, so the more detail you can give me the better. Thank a lot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a AUCTION form, it has a combo box and the label for this combo box is called seller. This combo box is a look up to the USER table which has the following fields:
uid, uname, city, state
The combo box is pulling and displaying a drop down list of uname from the USER table, with this SQL state in the "row source".
Code:
SELECT user.uname FROM [user] ORDER BY user.uname;
In the control source of this combo box I have seller, and the form's record source is AUCTION, tagging on the AUCTION table.
The problem is the form is putting the uname into the AUCTION table's seller field, but I want it to input the uid field, however that it should still show the uname list when the user click on the combo box to make a selection.
I have a multi user database in Access 2000 that is on a server. The individual users have shortcuts pointing towards the server instance. One user and one user only when opening the shortcut gets the error "you do not have exclusive rights to the database" .
All other users can enter the database with no error box. I have checked the advanced setting under options and they are correct. Ironically if you go to start and open access then navigate to the database shortcut. It opens with no error.
I was exploring using User-level permissions on databases so I, the admin, can have full permissions to edit/change etc. the database and certain users can only add/edit data. But I inadvertently have now set Access to ask me for a password for any db I open. Even if it's my own personal one. Can I set up Access to only ask for login info on certain db's, not all. I know that 2010 did away with User and group level permissions but was able to add it back through customizing the ribbon and adding this feature back to it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn the database that I use at work sometimes when we OPEN it we get an immediate error saying out of memory, therefore we close it and reopen and all is good.
This is a problem when the average user logs on as they don't close it, they just continue on and then start experiencing issues.
I thought that the memory was supposed to clear when you close the database.
We run the debugger and no errors are ever found, we also run the compact and repair.
This can happen 1 in 10 or maybe 20 times when we open the database.
I am having problems opening my databases. Access automatically opens them in 'Read Only' mode, and I cannot find a way to avoid this - so I can never add data to the original tables ....
View 2 Replies View RelatedNormally when I hold down the shift key when opening an Access database it opens in development mode. When I do this on a certain database it does not. It still opens in program mode. If I hit F11 it goes into a sort of development mode but I do not get the ribbon bar at the top etc.
Has something been set on this database to stop it opening in development mode? Can I switch it off?
Is there a way to open an Access Database from a batch file or VBS file wait for 20 seconds and then close the Access file. Preferably I would like the Access file to run in either invisible or minimized mode. I would like the Access Database to close again after the 20 seconds has elapsed.
(The reason for this is so that the Database can refresh itself from Sharepoint on another users machine so that the excel reports on his machine are up to date).
I have a split database with multiple users. Since I split the database, it runs slower than the unsplit version. I understand this happens. I would like to have a message pop up when the database is loading. It takes approx 2 mins to load. Users get impatient and start clicking. So, I wanted to have a message pop up to let them know it is opening.
I have the same problem with forms loading, I have 5 forms and each takes about 4 secs to load, so thought about a loading message there too.

How do I allow colleagues to input data to the Access database, but at the same time prevent meddling with the database design? Is it possible to password protect some functions but allow others (students/ nurses!) to input data?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have created a Db in MS Access 2010 and under Options > Current Database I have done the following:
- Used drop down to select a form I want to display on opening
- Unchecked display navigation pane
- Unchecked allow full menus
This works how I want it to, perfectly. I then send it to a client who also has MS Access 2010 and when they open the file the form I have told it to open doesn't open, the navigation bar is displayed (with the form I want to open highlighted) and the full menus show but are locked.
What's going on? Is it some security setting the client has that isn't letting the opening procedure execute properly?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem where I have a form that I enter data into. Sometimes when I enter the information it will add a record to the table and sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't put the information in the table more times than it does.
I have tried to enter the information outside the form and it still does the same thing.
Do you have any suggestions of what I can do to fix this.

I have on MS Access database.which was working fine untill now but suddenly it started this strange behaviour.
When i open it it opens without any error but stays in the frozen state for like 5 mins means i cant do any thing or i cant click anywhere.
and after 5 mins it starts working fine.Does anyone have any clue abt this strange behaviour.

So I have two tables. One table "tbl_SRVASSET" lists out servername, serialnumber and asset tag. Second table "tbl_SRVNIC" list out the same servername, IPAddress and IPAddressTypeDesc.
The issue is that I have records in the "tbl_SRVNIC" with the same server listed numerous times (because it has 2 or 3 NIC's). So there is obviously a one to many relationship betweeen the two tables (common I guess). What I'm trying to do is be able to take the servers in the "tbl_SRVNIC" table and a new table or create a query with a single record for that server and have all 2, 3, 4 or maybe more IPAddress's assigned to them listed in the same record. This is what I'm having trouble with...
The end result is that after I've got this new table that lists only a single server and it's associated NIC's in the same record I can then combine that data with the "tbl_SRVASSET" via a basic query so my end result is a brand new table "tbl_SRVDETAIL" that looks like this:
SERVERNAME, SERIALNUBMER, ASSET, SERVER NIC1 IPADDRESS, SERVER NIC1 IPADDRESSTYPE DESC, SERVER NIC2 IPADDRESS, SERVER NIC2 IPADDRESSTYPE DESC, SERVER NIC3 IPADDRESS, SERVER NIC3 IPADDRESSTYPE DESC, (and maybe more columns if there are more, but that is a variable as some servers have 2 NIC's, Some with 3 or more so...).
Just upgraded to Acccess 2007 and have ownership problem extracting queries from a 2002 db.
When trying to import into a new 2007 or export from the 2002, get "you have no permission" message
Have created a new user tried to change owner of the db, but no permission
File security looks correct in that I am owner of the file with full permissions, but Access doesn't recognize me as the owner
Tried logging in as admin, but it isn't the owner either
This is not critical, just very time consuming, this is a test project, but it would be nice not to have to rewrite about 30-40 queries and equivalent forms
Any guidence appreciated
I created a database for multiple users, it seems only one user can be in database at a time. Is there a property that allows multiple users to simultaneously use database. My record locks property is no. Is there some other property that needs to be set ??
