I have a form with couple of textboxes bound to a table. When the user opens the form to enter records, i want to write a function that would go through the textboxes to check whether the textboxes are left NULL. Now i can write code on button click for each form, but i was wondering if its possible to write a function that could be called for each form that i have to check for null values.

In the organisation that I work for employees get paid every 2 weeks on a Saturday. So for this financial year the pay period end dates have been 08/07/2006, 22/07/2006, 05/08/2006 etc
I have a column in an Access table listing various dates. I want the next column to be
populated with the next pay period end date after that date.
So if DATE is 05/07/2006 I want PAY PERIOD END to be 08/07/2006
and if DATE is 09/07/2006 I want PAY PERIOD END to be 22/07/2006 etc
How do I do this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to populate a field in a form with information, but only if the field is blank.
What I am trying to do is this.
I have a continuous form displaying all of our principals, however when our principals are on leave I want to populate the field with the "acting principal". I have set it up so the field grabs the acting principal first but it is blank for several schools. For these schools where there there is no "acting principal" I want it to grab the substantive principal automatically and populate the field.
I have tried Is Null, Is Not Null, NZ, IF, Where and Then statements but to no avail.
I do not understand what is happening here. I have foll0wing line in a calculated query field:
m: Switch([EmpID]<5,1) ' run Query 18 in attached example, A2007/2010
this produces 1 for all EmpID<5 and Null for all other EmpID's. All as expected.
But if I do this:
m: Switch([EmpID]<5,1,[EmpID]>=5,Null) ' run Query 19 in attached example
then the entire column is set to Null
i have a columns as 1. contactname, 2. firstname 3. lastname 4. email and in this columns some emails are not matching with the contactname or some time firstname or some time lastname so i need the to find out the un matched contacts from the database.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on an instrument datebase, I have a mainquery that takes care of user inputs from a form. The main fields that have been queried on are Type, System, and Manufacturer and they are all look-up fields that contain some null values.
On the same criteria row for these fields, I have

qtype, qsys and qman are the user inputs from the user interface that returns look-up table values.
This works fine when all 3 of these fields are all filled out for a certain instrument. The problem arise when some fields of the instrument are left blank or is null. The instrument won't show up in a query at all. What I wanted it to do is to show everything including the ones with null fields when the user input are null or "". When the user specifies certain requirement I only want to show the ones that are not null. I understand that putting them on the same row means AND, I have tried to OR them and did not have the result i wanted.
I am using access 2010. I have "classlevel" table with 2 columns-Class and Value1 .Value1 column has numeric values that i ll input from webpage (webpage to ms access connectivity).I want to sum the values of column "Value1" and i have another table-"Volume" which has 2 columns "VolumeLevel" and "Value2". So i want to match the sum that i calculated from first table-"ClassLevel" with the "value2" column in "Volume" table and get the corresponding "volumelevel" column value from that table and there is a third table that will get this volumelevel value.
There is no common column to join these tables.

Access 2010..One organization that we work with provides us with a block of numbers for each of the two types of contract products we order from them; we do order non-contract stuff from them also.The block of numbers are the same (i.e. 20000 to 30000 this year) for each of the two products. This means that each product can have the number 20000, for example. We call this the Tracking Number. If it is one of these products, we need to select the Contract Number.
For all other one off orders we have with them, we assign our own Tracking Number starting with 00001. This Tracking Number cannot duplicate unless it is one of the aforementioned two products.Both the Tracking Number and Contract Number are in the same table. The user selects the Contract Number from a form (connected to the Contract Number table that has all the details on the contract) and the Contract Number is populated in the same table that has the Tracking Number.Each order must have a Tracking Number (no null)..Not all orders need a Contract Number (null okay).The Tracking Number and Contract Number combination cannot duplicate.I tried setting the primary keys to more than one field in the table, but they cannot have null values.
If not... I have been working on Plan B.... an AfterUpdate on the form (either the form or a field... don't know yet) that looks at a query that only has results if there are duplicate values.

Am I correct in thinking the only way to have a combo box with different values in each column is to create a table and then bind the combo box to the column you are referring to if you want it to represent a value from another.
For example if I have a combo box with the words January, February etc can that combo box have a corresponding month number value in a separate column (this combo would be derived from a list) or would I need to create a table holding both the month names and numbers and then bind to the name value for selection but use the month number value?
The reason I ask is I wasn't sure if for every type of list I wanted with multiple column values, I would need to create a table.
I have a table having fields start date and end date. I need to calculate difference in the dates and store the values in a new column in the same table. I am able to write the query for this but am clueless as to how to put in these values in a new column in the table.

I have to count the number of distinct DEPARTMENT for each NAME; so, for John should be 2 (KPP and TLL) and for Marco 1 (PPO).
I have tryed in this way:

But Access says me there is a syntax error.

I have a query where data is first sorted by user input; first field's criteria: [fieldname], then by another field's criteria: Is Null.
I know there are records containing null values in the second field, as I have run a select query with the criteria: Like "*", to make sure they are null, and not zero-length-strings.
The query is refusing to return any results...
Any ideas?

I want to be able to filter a form based on a dropdown box, where one of the items can be null. (The field is of type short date).
the dropdown box is named "Fltr1".
The form is based on a query, and i have tried to express the filter in the query like this (sql syntax):
([Tablename].[Columnname]) Like "*" & [Forms]![frmMyForm]![Fltr1])
But this way, the records with this column being null are omitted...
I very much appreciate any help that leads me in the right direction ;)

Okay so I have a column called 'totalincome' on TblCashflow. There are 60 records of TotalIncome (represents 5 years or 60 months) per asset that I have on another table, TblLoanGeneral.
What I need to return is the LAST value from totalincome that is not null. For example, we may only have entries in the 60 records that go to row #35, or 50 or whatever. When I use the Last criteria it gives me the 60th record (in example would give me a 0), and when I use the Max criteria, it gives me the largest income value regardless of location(would be 50,000 in example). What I need is really where the "last" income amt is >1 (20) however, when you set last, it only considers row 60.In the example below I would want 20 to be returned.

I have 1 query that connects 4 of my tables through a tracking number. I am trying to make it so the value (DStatus) from DTable will populate where a (DStatus) is provided, but where there is no (DStatus) the column is filled in with a (SStatus) from STable. There is always a SStatus for each tracking number, but not always a DStatus, where there is a DStatus, it is more accurate.
Can I do this all in 1 query, whether I have to make a new column within my query for this to work, whether I need to have my query output into a table first.
Is there something I could type into the Criteria field of my query.
I have tried using Nz([DStatus],[SStatus]), an Iif Statement, the IsNull function, etc with no avail.
