Here's a little design problem, all of my VB script works fine, it's just a design problem:
Toggle Button (onClick) { if pressed in, unlock protected field, pass focus to protected field else (if not pressed in), lock protected field }
Protected Field (lostFocus){ When Focus is lost, protect field then reset toggle button } See, there's no way that I know of for Access to tell what field has focus at any given moment. It lies inert until an event fires off then it responds. You can't wake Access up and tell it to go do something. So, Protected Field has to lock itself when it loses focus.
Here's the problem. If a user unlocks the field but then decides not to make a change and clicks the toggle again to lock the field, first Access fires the script to protect the field (locking it), then it resets the toggle button, then it registers the toggle button click which unlocks the field. See the problem? If the user changes their mind about changing the field and then tries to lock the field, it ends up unlocked. I need something that will work whether the user is good about it or whether the user is in a rush and forgets about it.
I have a form for entering data and to aid people inputting data into a text box I would like a pop up form to appear to enable them to refresh their memories as it were with some information. I was going to use the got focus event of the text box to open the popup but how do i then pass the focus back to the main form and text box without triggering the event again
on the flip side I would like to use the lost focus event to close the sub form as well.
I have a database which connects to another application (by creating an object) for the purposes of reading/writing data. Part of the code involves creating an instance of this application, and then taking input from the user via an Access form. However, when I load the form, the focus stays with the other application, and the user has to 'click into' the form in order to reset the focus to the form and key the relevant details. Not the end of the world, granted, but frustrating over time and something I'd like to iron out.
I originally had this process in Excel, and used the following code to change the focus back to Excel (so that the user could key directly into the form)
Code: Dim ExcCap As String ExcCap = Application.Caption
' ...assorted code, including creating the object to 'house' the other application...
' Return focus to Excel AppActivate ExcCap
But this doesn't apply to Access as it utilises the Application.Caption / AppActivate method to identify the appropriate window to switch back to. In Access, I don't have a caption to reference.I've tried setting the focus in the Form_Load event but it doesn't bring the form 'to the fore'
I have an unbound form with a combobox which needs to be validated before the control is updated. In the Before Update event I check that the value is valid and need to reset the value back to the previous value if not valid and then change focus to another control.I thought that the following code would work but the selected value remains in the control and I cannot move the focus to another control.
Code: Private Sub cboYears_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) Dim dteNewDate As Date dteNewDate = DateSerial(Val(Me.cboYears), Month(Me.txtCalendarHeading), 1)
I want to export different objects (i.e. modules, reports, tables, queries...) from another ms access application. How can I list the objects so I can pick from them and then import them. I know ms access has a wizard and I am looking to do the same but a little different because I have an application that I want to filter my objects by a criteria.
But they do not work, there are still messages when deleting a record from an endless form by pressing "delete". I don't want to add a button. Docmd. Setwarning false in every form!
I did a search and found this thread, and the only problem i encounter is the min max buttons are gone though it was set up as both enable, how to show those buttons.
i want that if any powerpoint application is open after closing my access app all of these powerpoint files will be closed. i found this code for excel file and i changed it for powerpoint application. but i have an error message in this pink line?
error 438: object doesn't support this property or method
Code:
Public Function test() Dim oApp As Object Dim workbook1 As Object
it is possible to Open access application like desk application done with java or vb, or install access application as exe or similar methods. My requirements is to giving a access application to customer with data base for printing an invoice. when he running the aplication he can see access open and tables, queries forms left hand. how to hide these thing ?
Can i make an html of login form, whose data is saved in access as back end. I am curious to know. but of course simultaneous saving is considered yes in here...
I have a listbox which is populated by a query from a table.
I also have a sub which allows users to quickly select multiple items from the listbox (based on a pre-defined criteria) rather than scrolling through and selecting them manually / individually
The sub works fine but when it is finished, the listbox is automatically scrolled to the bottom (or, rather, to the last selected item)
I would like to have the listbox scroll back to the very top once all of the appropriate items have been selected.
(I could loop through the listbox items in reverse - or 'bottom-up' - in the code but that would only have the desired effect if the topmost item was selected. I want it scrolled to the top regardless of whether the topmost item is selected or not).
I have a question about the best way to go about linking an excel workbook to an ms access table? I have researched hyperlinks and attachments and ole objects and I am not sure what is the best option. I believe hyperlinks will be best, because the attachments will bloat the database, but I am not sure how to go about doing that in vba? My process is such:
1)Users enter project information 2)Users enter the sample information for each project 3)The project and sample information is combined by a query 4)The user clicks a button to print forms, which runs the query and opens an excel workbook template. 5)The data is exported to a specific sheet in the workbook 6)Using vba in excel, the data is used to populate cells in different sheets depending on critera.
After all of this is accomplished, I need the user to SAVE AS the excel workbook and it needs to be "attached" to the ms access 'project' table. I am not sure what is the best way to link this back to the database. I would like to automate it with vba if possible.
We have an extensive reporting application in Access and would like it to be available through a web application. I've went down the road of migrating this application to SQL to use SQL Reporting Services; this is a good tool but I am wondering if MS Access has an easier solution for me other than migration to SQL.
I'm looking for a solution that will make these reports available over the web for many users. Price tag is a consideration...need to know if there is any.
Please help...thanks in advance for any thoughts!!!!
I have a continuous form populated with a pivot view from SQL. When I enter data in the form I send the data to SQL (ctrl after_update) and then re-populate the form. It works.
When I have entered data in a ctrl - then I have to bookmark the record so I can select it again (find_first). I can "save" the location of the control where I have entered data, but I want to select the location where the user has set focus - which triggered the ctrl after_update..My ctrl after_update looks like this:
I'm trying to catalog these shelves for work. So someone can then search for the item and it will pull up the shelf its on. The shelf has alot on it so I want to set the focus on the item on the shelf. But I'm not too sure how to do that with my search button.
This is the code for my search button:
Private Sub cmdsearch_Click() 'Purpose: Build up the criteria string form the non-blank search boxes, and apply to the form's Filter. 'Notes: 1. We tack " AND " on the end of each condition so you can easily add more search boxes; _ we remove the trailing " AND " at the end. ' 2. The date range works like this: _ Both dates = only dates between (both inclusive. _ Start date only = all dates from this one onwards; _ End date only = all dates up to (and including this one).
I am new to Access and to the forum. I made a check printing system
table name = 'burgan' form name = 'burgan cheque' Fields = 'PV' and 'cheque' and 'Beneficiary'
I have inserted a button (Command31).The function I would like to add on clicking the button
1. it should chose the highest value in both fields (PV and cheque) 2. Create new record 3. Increment it by 1 (both fields 'PV' and 'cheque') 4. the focus should stand on 'Beneficiary' field.
I'm populating a report with a query which pulls criteria from a form. When the 'run' button is pressed it opens the report, running the query, to filter the data. What i'm attempting (and it works if there is data present).
The data is text, which is a filename, which populates an image control. Most of my records have an image present but for the ones that don't I think I need to turn the image control's picture property to 'blank'.
I'm just now encountering problems with the records with no pictures so when i came up with this it worked with my tests which at that time only had images present....
I have two problems.
1) When I run the code as below i get Run-Time Error 2185; you can't reference a property or method for a control unless the control has the focus.
2) when i try to set the focus on the picture control in the report to see if there is text/value present i get runtime error 2478; database doesn't allow you to use this method in the current view.
I assume this is talking about me opening the report in acViewPreview mode but i thought i needed to do this so the images are displayed in the image control.
Code: Private Sub Detail_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer) Dim strDBPath As String Dim strRelativePath As String Dim strPath As String 'rptOriginalOwnerCategoryItem!Picture.Text.SetFocus [B]Me!Picture.SetFocus[B] 'Test to see if the record has a relative path stored
I am making a database, where 10 to 20 users will be entering data. I have queries
1. I am planning to create a form with which user will be directly entering in the table, will that b right? 2. If 2 or more users will open form its own side does they all will be entering in same row number? 3. What will be the best of these, by insert query or directly to form?
I can change the application title using the following only if the Application Title is blank. If it is not blank then it does not change.
Code: Dim db As Database Set db = CurrentDb() Dim newtitle newtitle = "qwerty" Set newtitle = db.CreateProperty("AppTitle", dbText, strNewTitle) db.Properties.Append newtitle Application.RefreshTitleBar
On a form (default view: Single), I have a bunch of bound controls that display one record at a time from tblMain. I have a bunch of unbound controls as well (buttons).
If the user tabs through all the controls, reaches the last one (btnLast), and presses tab again, the focus is set to the first control (btnFirst) and the bound controls change to display the next record. I just want the focus to be set to the first control without the displayed record being changed. So I set up an "If" statement in Private Sub btnFirst_GotFocus()
Code:
If Screen.PreviousControl.Name = "btnLast" Then [code to change record back to previous record] End If
But btnFirst gets the focus when the form opens, so Screen.PreviousControl spits out an error.I've accommodated this like so:
Code:
On Error GoTo ErrorHandler If Screen.PreviousControl.Name = "btnLast" Then [code to change record back to previous record] End If Exit Sub ErrorHandler: Exit Sub
How to set focus to a non Default instance of a form.
Environment A2007 ADP Project Document Window Option - Tabbed Documents MS SQL 2012 Express DB Windows 7 64 Bit
I using Allen Browne's method to open more that one version of form, storing each form object in a collection declared in a module. No problem there.
Now I'm trying to add a command button on an form to set focus to one of these non-default instances already open.
The form I am trying to set focus to has a the following related properties
Default View: Split Form Pop-up: No Modal: No
The form that has the command button on it is of the same type.
Here is the code I've tried:
'Code on Calling Form Private Sub cmdProjectList_Click() Dim FunctionResult As Boolean
If AppForms.GoToForm("ProjectList") = False Then AppForms.Load_ProjectList
[Code] .....
The code compiles and executes with seemingly no problems. It finds the form loaded, then cycles though and finds the form in Forms but the SetFocus call seems to do nothing. When I run the code against a defualt instance ( one not opened using Allen Browne's method) it works fine and sets focus to it as expected.
