I have an inherited database with years worth of julian dates stored as numbers (e.g. days 1-366 for a leap year). I also have some fields stored as short dates. I would like to run a series of parameterized queries on this data, some using the short data and some using the "julian dates" that are actually just numbers. I have the user enter the start and end date in short date format and would like that to be converted and held in an unbound field as a number value. So far I can get the date to appear as a "julian date" (e.g. 1/1/08 appears as 1, obviously the underlying data is still 1/1/08) How do I take that 1 and convert it to number value "1"? Thanks in advance.

Jan 10, 2014In a query I would like to extract the last ten years. This is what the data looks like:12/13 (Data type = text)(Short for 2012/2013 which actually represents 7/1/2012 to 6/30/2013.)
I am able to extract the "12" and turn it into the general number 2012 using: ("20" & Left([TAXYR],2))*1..But how can I convert that to the data type-date so I can include those records in the past ten years from todays date? I was trying to use DateAdd but I think the problem is the data type and where converting to date gives me "1905" or "9/##/1905." I get why it does that, but is there a workaround? Maybe adding 39,785 days?? (2014-1905)*365

May 11, 2013I build a database to manage some events. To simplify things, let's assume an event takes place on 3 days, from 01-05-2013 to 03-05-2013.
I create a table named EVENTS.
Among other stuff, I create the following fields:
EVENT_first_date
EVENT_last_date
Then I create a query which returns the number of days the event will take place on.
EVENT_total_days: [EVENT_last_date]-[EVENT_first_date]
I use an append query to insert this new record into the table EVENTS_MAIN.
I wish to set the start time and end time for all event days in hours and minutes. I will use these entries for displaying start time and end time for each event days, to calculate daily total hours and event total hours later on.
Therefore, I wish to create a query that will display event date 1, event date 2 and event date 3, based on the number of the EVENT_total_days field, so I can set the start time and end time for each day separately.
Is it possible to "convert" or "switch" the number of the days into number of records? Can a query convert a field value into number of records?

The "RIGHT" functions works but the resulting column is not being recognized as a date, it is a only a string and therefore useless for processing of any date related calculation.

For clarity, daylight savings time comes into effect this year on 26th Oct in the UK and 2nd Nov in the US. I need to create a field called AssumpDate that converts the month into a date field on the 1st day of the month. ex May 2014 needs to read 5/1/2014. When I use the expression AssumpDate: DateValue("1-" & [Assumption_Month] & "-" & Year(Date())) of course the year changes to the current one--2015. How can I I change the expression so that the year is based on the AssumptionYr column?

Jun 6, 2013I have a table in access database which contains a text field 'EDate' that stores Date value in format (12-Apr-2013). Now I want to run a sql query on that field. User will give an input date. The sql query needs to fetch me all the records from access database whose Edate is less than or equal to the user input date.
I am using DateValue function to convert my text filed Edate into date. My query is something like this:
select * from table_name where DateValue(EDate)<='user_input_date'
I am able to perform above task if the system language settings are 'English'. But if system language settings are different say Turkish, then the query fails.
I searched a lot on web and found that DateTime function compares test data with the system date time format and gives the result. Thus it fails with different language settings.

Queries :: DLookup With 2 Criteria - One Number And One Date
Jan 26, 2014I have been working on a query in my database and I would like to look up a Number Value from another table based on a Number ID field and the Number Date in the Number Values table, where the Number ID field in the table agrees to the Number ID Index field in the query, and the Number Date field in the table agrees with the Initial Date field in the query. The Dlookup syntax I currently have is as follows:
DLookUp("[Number Value]","Number Values","[Number ID]=" & [Number ID Index] & "And [Number Date]= [Initial Date]")
The Dlookup shown above does not return an error, but it returns a blank field. I know that individually, the Dlookup for the Number ID works, but when I add the And for the Number Date the Dlookup returns a blank. Also, I have verified that there are existing records where the Number Date and Initial Date fields agree.
Also, I changed the format of the date fields in the tables to be ShortDate, thinking that the Timestamp was causing the Dlookup to not find a match. I also tried to use the DateValue() function within a query to reformat with not luck.
Why my Dlookup is returning a blank?
