I am having a problem updating a record on a table called BookInTable . The field I want to update is called Engineer and the record is found using the field Barcode. I have a form with 2 text boxes BarTxt and EngTxt as well as a button called SaveBtn. on the OnClick event of the SaveBtn I put the following code
Code:
Private Sub SaveBtn_Click() If IsNull(Me![BarTxt]) Or (Me![BarTxt]) = "" Then MsgBox "Please enter a value!", vbOKOnly, "Invalid Search Criterion!" Me![BarTxt].SetFocus Exit Sub End If
DoCmd.RunSQL "Update BookInTable SET Engineer = " & Me!EngTxt & " WHERE BarCode ='" & Me![BarTxt] & "'"
End Sub
But this is bringing up the enter Parameter value dialog box for whatever I type into EngTxt. If I enter text into that box and then click okay it then updates to the record. how can I stop the from enter Parameter value dialog box appearing?
I have a form which contains a listbox sourced from a query and several text boxes where the user can enter filters for the query. The query has references back to the form for the criteria, i.e. the filter for "Company Name" is handled in the query criteria as
Code: Like "*" & [Forms]![HooversProspects]![SearchText] & "*"
When i exit this form in my un-compiled version it does not pop up an "Enter Parameter" box, however, when i exit this form from the compiled version it pop ups the "Enter Parameter" box for every filter I have.
How i can fix this? Perhaps change the rowsource on the query to null upon exit?
I have a list (table) that I've created in sharepoint 2010.I link to the sharepoint table with Access 2010 to update mass amounts of items at once. Some of the queries have no problem updating the sharepoint items, but other queries require me to "Enter Paramater Value."
In this particular queries; I'm trying to populate field A with dates from field B, when field A is null.
--------------------- UPDATE Table 1 SET Table.[FieldA] = [FieldB] WHERE (((Table 1.[FieldA]) Is Null)); --------------------
When I run the above, I receive the "Enter Parameter Value" input box.All records have Field B populated (it's actually the created date.)
The goal is for field A to be populated with the values in Field B, without the query asking for parameters.
Note; I can go in each individual record and update them via access, one at a time. But it's the running of the update query that failing.
I cannot sort below query in descending order by absolute value. If I do not use sort, all works fine but as soon as I try to sort by absolute value I get message to 'Enter Parameter Value'. I tried to replace Abs([Variance (W2 - W1)]) with filed name AbsoluteValue and still the same result ;(
Code:
SELECT [Query Union].[Stock Code] AS SKU, [Query Union].[Pallet No] AS [Pallet No], [Query Union].[Batch No#] AS Batch, IIf(IsNull([qW1 SOH].[Physical stock]),0,CDbl([qW1 SOH].[Physical stock])) AS [W1 Qty], IIf(IsNull([W2 SOH].[Good Stock]),0,CDbl([W2 SOH].[Good Stock])) AS [W2 Qty], [W2 Qty]-[W1 Qty] AS [Variance (W2 - W1)], Abs([Variance (W2 - W1)]) AS AbsoluteValue
I have one form which have two multiselect listboxes. They work, but every time when I choose id_organizacija from listbox popup enter parameter value comes up.
I am already tried to put id_organizacija in [ ] but that didnt solve problem.
Code: Set ctl = Me.lstEmployees For Each varItem In ctl.ItemsSelected strWhere = strWhere & ctl.ItemData(varItem) & "," Next varItem Set ctl = Me.lstOrganizacija
It is possible to create a parameter query in Access that will search for records that match the parameter entered by the user AND contain all other records that have that value plus other text.
For instance you may want Access to return all records that begin with the letter Q.
To do this you need to enter the following expression into the criteria row:
Like [Find records beginning with:] & "*" Or Is Null
The user can enter a Q and the criteria concatenates the wildcard character * to this parameter value, to find all text strings that begin with a Q.
By also using Or Is Null in the criteria the user can enter a blank value into the parameter query to return all records, even if this field is blank.
But how do I search if i want all the records with John anywhere in the field???
I have a table that has three columns: Nationality, Gender, and Date. First I had the problem of grouping the Nationality column by Gender. That i resolved by creating a crosstab query. Now, I want to put a criteria on Date field so that when the query is run it will ask for the date input and will only show the Nationality and Gender result for specific dates. But when I write something in Criteria field it shows an error saying: "The Microsoft Access database engine does not recognize "[Registration Date]" as a valid field name or expression"..
I had an issue with writing LIKE statements in query criteria yesterday [URL]....
The answer they gave worked perfectly when I only used a single table in the query. But as soon as I did an INNER JOIN with two other tables, now I get parameter value prompts when I open frmSearch, and instead of seeing ALL my records when the controls are left null, I get only the first record in the table.
Here's the SQL of the query, can you point out what I messed up? NOTE that this SQL was 'written' by Access.. as I used the Query builder to set all the 'Like or Is Null' statements, then clicked SQL and sorta formatted the code so I can see what I'm looking at (instead of superthick wall-o-code):
Code: SELECT tblPeople.name, tblPeople.num FROM (tblPeople INNER JOIN tblAddresses ON tblPeople.name = tblAddresses.name) INNER JOIN tblPets ON tblPeople.name = tblPets.name
[code]....
Basically, this is a searchable database of participants in a pet-adoption program, along with the participants' pets history and address history (hence the linked tables as opposed to additional columns in one single table for pets and addresses... there are more than one in some cases). The frmSearch allows a person to run quick searches based upon ANY item in the database, such as name, pets, addresses, pet age, pet type, county of residence, etc. I need to be able to pick ANY field on frmSearch and type a value, and have the qrySearch return records for ANY record's related column wherein any part of it matches what I typed.
The statements as written worked PERFECTLY right up until I added the INNER JOIN. Now I get a set of parameter value prompts for every field on frmSearch that's referenced in the SQL for EACH table I linked to tblPeople, and if I leave everything null and click Search, I want to see EVERY person, but I'm only seeing the very FIRST person in tblPeople.
I have a crosstab queries which uses the date query parameters. However, when I go to my Export command (code is below), it ask me to enter the date parameters (start date and end date) twice. What do I have to do so that the system will ask me to enter once only?
Code: On Error GoTo Err_cmdTest_Click 'Must 1st set a Reference to the Microsoft Office XX.X Object Library Dim dlgOpen As FileDialog Dim strExportPath As String Const conOBJECT_TO_EXPORT As String = "qryEXPORT"
Every time I run a query that I have created it asks me to input Expr1 and Expr2 in an enter perameter value pop up box. I don't enter anything, just click okay and the query runs as expected.
Is there a way to get rid of these? (and maybe more importantly, why do they appear?)
I am trying to create a parameter query to return dates that have 2 years remaining.
For example I have dates for when mortgages expire, and I want to recognise the dates that have two years remaining using a parameter query but I can't figure out if I use DateAdd or DateDiff.
I've created a farm database, with a form (frmSearch) that will allow user to filter data. The form comprises of combo box and list box etc... for the user to input their own criteria. The subform below has a datasource. The data source is based on a query (qContractionSearch) which is basically a parameter query with 3 tables. The problem is, however, that it won't work with 3 tables... but will work if data source comprises just one table.
See the farm database attachment...and go to frmSearch...then go to Contraction tab. (The Cattle tab filter works fine-it only has a single-table datasource).i have a requery macro which runs whenever the user clicks 'search'.
I have query with a calculate field to finds the next service due date but I'm having a problem getting it to only show services due dates in the next 30 days.for some reason I cant add a criteria date()-30...I have to calculate the next service it takes service intervals from maskservicemonths field then find the last service date and generates the next service due date NextService: DateAdd("m",[MaskServiceMonths],[FindLast]).
I have created a db with 10 linked tables from 10 db's. I then build 10 queries associated to these linked tables. The 10 queries filter data by start date and end date. The data generated from each query is then exported to excel (each query has its own sheet in the woorkbook).
I am trying to mail merge from word 2013 to a query in access 2013. I initially had problems displaying the query until I came across a solution regarding connecting via DDE. I can now link to the query but it then asks me to 'enter parameter values' from the query. I have already run these values into the query via a form which ends up in a report. (incidentally I have left the report open). If I manually enter these parameters it works fine.
What I am trying to do is fairly simple i just dont have the ability to correctly code what i want to do.
I want to filter my query based on some criteria in multiple columns. But i only want the query to filter based on the specific criteria if a checkbox has been selected.
Basically i want the criteria for one of the columns criteria to read
IF a check box "Check0" is selected THEN filter the column to only records that = 1 and if "Check2" then filter all records that = 2
I was trying to filter a word using Not Like "word" in my query cirteria, some data is blank also, From this record i want to retrieve the result. But when i use Not Like Criteria, filter is working but blanks columns are also filtered.
I want to display all records (including blanks) except what i shown in the criteria.
I have an access database in which I have a table A and table B. Table A has a list of 200 website URLs. Table B has one column ID and another criteria.
I want to create a query to filter websites list which does not have values or characters from table b.
I have these values in table B that I want to be filtered out or not shown in my URL Select Query
.org .gov .du .pk .dk
I would keep on adding more criteria into this so criteria table so adding new criteria into table B should not disturb our filtering.
Below is what I have tried but in vain and it says atmost you can atmost one criteria row in sub query
SELECT tableA.WEB_ADDRESS FROM tableA WHERE ((([tableA].[wEB_ADDRESS] Not Like '*'+(SELECT * FROM tableB)+'*')=True));

I cannot get my query to return result when I enter the month of "June" as search criteria. June is listed in the table and query, every other month is returned except June.
I have a parameter that I need to get a table contents between dates. In the query:
Birthdate: XXTable: criteria as follows: Between [Enter Start Date] and [Enter End Date:]
When run it gives me the Error - ! This expression is type incorrectly, or its too complex to be evaluated. For example, a numeric expression may contain too many complicated elements. Try simplifying the expression by assigning parts of the expression to variables
I have tried almost everything. The formatting of the Birthdate is x/x/xxxx or shortdate. Will this affect the input thus affecting the outcome of the query.
I'm using Access 2003...I have a query that searches a parts table by description:
Like "*" & [Enter in Part Description to search] & "*"
I need to add another search to this query, I added another field to the parts table call manufacturer. I add this field to the above query and added this parameter to it:
Like [Enter in Manufacturer] & "*"
I then added a manufacturer to one of the fields for test purposes. For some odd reason this doesn't work. If I take out the manufacturer parameter and don't enter in anything into the part description the query returns all the records. When i type a description into the part description field the query returns the proper records. When I add back the manufacturer parameter and enter through both parameters only the one record returns showing the test record instead of all of them. If I put a part description in and enter through the manufacturer parameter no records show when they should.
I've tried adding a test field to a different table and tried a different query using the like parameter. The parameter works in a field already in the table but won't work with the new field I added. I've done compact and repair.
