Queries :: Number Of Hours - Calculating Difference Between Times

Jun 23, 2014

I am starting to create a resourcing database that needs to be able to work with dates and times and perform calculations on them.

I need to work out the number of hours. I have two date/time fields Day_Start_Time and Day_End_Time. I want to calculate the difference between the two in hours and then multiply by the number of working days.

I tried this: Number_Of_Hours: DateDiff("hh",[Day_Start_Time],[Day_End_Time])*[Number_of_days]

But get #Func! when I run the query.

Queries :: Adding Up Times To Get Total Amount Of Hours

Dec 5, 2014

I have a table of hours that have been worked by employees for each day of the week

[moh] (Monday's hours),[tuh],[weh],[thh],[frh],[sah],[suh]
data eg (this is how I would like it to be inputted into the table)
7:24:00,7:24:00,7:24:00,7:24:00,7:22:00,0:00:00,0: 00:00

This equates to 36:58:00

I have tried

Total Hours: [moh]+[tuh]+[weh]+[thh]+[frh]+[sah]+[suh]

but I am struggling to get what I want in the right format.

How to record the initial data or a formula to format the end result.

Excel just does it !!!!!

Queries :: Calculating Working Hours Of Employee

Apr 3, 2013

We are trying to find a way to have a query figure out when the hours of an employee reach 40 hours (Overtime) and figure the hours correctly. The Data Entry table contains the basic fields:

[Workdate].....The date the work was done
[WEDate].......The Week Ending Date. Always on Sunday, and calculated like this "[WorkDate]-Weekday([WorkDate]-1)+7"
[Employee].....Employee Name
[Qty].............# of hours worked that day
[RegHours].....Blank, to be updated by query
[OTHours]......Blank, to be updated by query

The problem we are running into is getting it to update the daily running totals (using the [WEDate] & [employee] as the "Group Bys"). We'd like use an update query to fill in the to blank fields with the correct calculations.

Example - Working 6 day week, at 9 Hours per day in the [Qty] field

Day.............[RegHours]......[OTHours]
Monday..............9..................0
Tuesday............18..................0
Wednesday........27..................0
Thursday...........36..................0
Friday...............40..................5
Saturday...........40.................14
Sunday.............40.................23

We have tried several things to get it to compute this field and haven't had much luck.

I need to get the difference between invoice value and total invoice value.

How can I put this into a query (invoice value - total invoice value)?

Queries :: Calculating The Difference In Values In Two Different Records?

Aug 12, 2015

I have a query that must calculate the different between values in two different records, based on the date.

The underlying ORIGVALUES table contains:

Date; Value; Diff
1/10/15; 100; (this is what I am trying to calc)
1/11/15; 101; (this is what I am trying to calc)
1/14/15; 102; (this is what I am trying to calc)

What is the best way to have each record calculate the selected date value divided by the prior date value)? E.g.

For 1/11 the math is 101 / 100 (so the 1/11/15 record would show the result of 1.01)
For 1/14 the math is 102 / 101 (1/11 to 1/14 represents a weekend)

I could copy the prior day values to the current day records and do that math easily but that is very redundant.

Queries :: Calculating Difference Between Dates In 2 Rows

Oct 25, 2013

I have a list of client activity - client name, loan ID and loan date. I would like to create a new field that shows the number of days between one loan and the next. If I was doing it in excel, I would need to sort the data by client name and loan date and then calculate the number of days between the loan date of one loan and the loan date of the loan immediately prior to this.

Queries :: Utilization Database - Calculating Hours Minutes From Decimal

Apr 23, 2015

I'm working on a utilization database and pulling Excel data from Cognos 8. I use Access formulas to separate hours and minutes because I want to use time (.30, .45 (minutes)) instead of quarterly increments (.25, .50). I've successfully segregated hours, because I also have to turn days into hours. When I try to calculate out a column just for minutes, my formula keeps the number of days and I don't know how to fix it so the column just shows the minutes.

An example is a job has a decimal time of 2.02083333, which when done correctly is 48 hours and 30 minutes. I get the 48 hours correct, but the minutes shows as 2.30 instead of 0.30. That inflates the total job time to 50.30. This is the calculation currently in my database to pull out minutes:

Minutes: Int(([Min]60)24) & "." & Format([Min] Mod 60,"00").

How do I get rid of the '2' in the 2.30?

Queries :: Time Sheet / Payroll Database - Calculating Total Daily Hours

Feb 18, 2014

Access Query. I am creating a time sheet / pay roll database and I want to be able to get a total of the daily hours in a query.

For example I have 'Mon Start' and 'Mon Finish' for Mondays in/out times and I have a 'Mon Total' which gives me the total hours worked for Monday.

The problem I have is that Mon Total only works if the hours are say between 07:00 and 17:00, anything after midnight (00:00) like 21:00 to 07:00 and 'Mon Total' goes crazy !!

At the moment 'Mon Total' is the result of CDate 'Mon Finish' - 'Mon Start' (bit rough I know).

Queries :: Number Of Calls During Business Hours

Oct 28, 2014

I have to create a query that will reflect the number of calls and messages a person has either taken during business hours and if a message was left how long did it take them to return the message. We are open from 6:00AM - 4:30PM so my boss wants to only see how many calls a person took during business hours. now the users have to run this report daily and monthly. and have to make it accessible through a report so they can send it to the supervisors.

The two fields I have to make the calculations on is the [Date & Time Left] the time the call was made [Date Returned] if they left a message the date it was returned. Also if the call was returned in one day she wants it broken down into minutes (as in how many hours and mins was the call returned)

This is what I have so far: I noticed there was something in Excel called NETWORKDAYS?

Code:
SELECT [Message Tracking].[Date & Time Left], [Message Tracking].[Date Returned], DateDiff("h",[Date & Time Left],[Date Returned]) AS TotalHours, [Message Tracking].ID, [Message Tracking].[User Returning]
FROM [Message Tracking]
GROUP BY [Message Tracking].[Date & Time Left], [Message Tracking].[Date Returned], [Message Tracking].ID, [Message Tracking].[User Returning]

How Do I Find The Difference Between 2 Times

May 12, 2006

Hi, I have the following expression in my query;

Worked Hours: DateDiff("h",[Start Time],[Finish Time])-[Breaks]

Start time and finish time appear as hh:mm and breaks is stored as a decimal i.e. 15min is 0.25, 30min is 0.5, 1 hour is 1.

The expression works fine when e.g Start 07:00 Finish 17:00 with breaks as 30min(0.5) gives the correct value of 9.5 hours worked but if the finish time was say 17:30, rather then show the correct value of 10 hours worked, it shows the wrong value of 9.5.

Could someone please tell me where I have one wrong and how to sort the problem, or offer me a different solution.

Thanks

Queries :: How To Count Number Of Times Data Appears In A Field

Sep 23, 2013

How to count the number of times that the data appears in a certain field (which is [Ema!l]). I have a list of ema!l addresses and I want to find out whether that ema!l address has appeared once, twice or more. I want to add this as a field in a query. I don't want to delete it or anything because it's perfectly fine for the ema!l address to appear more than once, I just want to be able to identify when the ema!l address has already appeared.

If I was using Excel I would use a Countif function to count how many times the data in the specified cell appears in the whole column, and that would give me the number. I'm not use to the language of Access so I can't figure out how to achieve this.

I tried adding a Total row to the grid in the query and then changing the total to 'count' but this just returned 1 for every row.

Calculating Days And Hours

Jun 22, 2006

I have four date/time fields and I need to determine the number of days and the number of hours between them based on report date range. The Days need to be in one field and the hours in another field. I have tried DateDiff function with an IIF condition and get the following negative value in Expr1. If I remove the IIF condition then I get a positive value.

If the date in field 1 is less than field 3, the days and hours need to be calculated field 2- field 3 as long as field 2 is less than or equal to field 4. If field 2 is null and if the date in field 1 is less than field 3, the days and hours need to be calculated field 2-3 but if field 1 is less than field 3 the calculation would be field 4- field 1. When both dates are within the report range then DateDiff works fine.

Adm Date [/U](f1) D/C Date/Time (f2) Beg Report (f3) End Report (f4) Expr1

I could e-mail the table with sample dates if this would help
Can anyone assist me with this formula?????

Calculating Difference Between Two Fields?

Feb 22, 2007

I'm trying to create a database for a Cattery business.

One thing I'd like to include is a query that calculates how long a cat has been staying at the cattery and then calculating the amount owed by the owner.

I don't have a cost field in any of my tables, so I need to create this on every run of the query.

So for example

A Cat resides in the cattery from the 22nd of Feb to the 28th of Feb. So 6 days (not including the day the cat is brought into the cattery) at a cost of 4.95 a day equals 29.7

Heres what I have so far
http://www.tdh1987.co.uk/pics/query.JPG

Bear in mind I'm from the UK, so the date field is in a different format to yours.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Calculating The Difference Between 2 'Time' Values

Nov 12, 2007

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me with the following problem:

I have a table with 2 columns, start time and end time, both containing time values in a four digit format, eg 0930 being 9:30am etc.

I have made a query to convert these into the standard format (eg 0930 becomes 09:30), using left/right and & functions.

Now I use the timevalue function to convert the string , eg 09:30m into a recongnised time value.

The problem is now I want to find the difference between the start and end times- but when i try a simple end_time - start_time formule it returns a long number which i dont understand, rather than just giving me the difference betwen the two times.

Im sure there is a simple way to do this which I dont know, can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!
