Return List Of Records That Fail To Append?

Sep 17, 2015

In short, I want to know which records fail to append based on violating the primary key. (Win 7, Access 2010 32bit) Similar to how Access creates import table errors, but for append violations...

The DB takes a daily data dump. Failures to append (in this DB) indicate a status of "complete" that needs to be re-examined. (A true complete will not be present in the daily file). The daily file also contains all new daily work, thus it isn't just a list of "completed" tasks to re-examine.

Queries :: Return List Of Records From Original List

Apr 23, 2013

I'm looking to move an excel sheet to access because the row counts are too much. The main thing it does is compare the supplied data against a list I hold in the sheet. There are not duplicate records, however..Some data is a direct lookup for a full match, but much of it is a count to see how many records contain a certain string.

I have 500 keywords which have a countif function in using wildcards.I need to create a query/report which will return a list of records from the original list which contains each keyword featured and how many times it features.I was going to do it in PHPmysql but the time it took to parse a million records for every keyword made it pointless.

eg:
keywords:
look
billy
magic

list:
"have a look and see"
"spanish dave"
"who is billy brag"
"looky looky I go hooky"
"who's the man from argentina"
"could it be magic now"

my spreadsheet would return a 1 next to ""billy" and "magic" and would put a 2 next to "look".

the sheet has the keyword in each row and next to the column:
=COUNTIF(list,CONCATENATE("*@",B13))
where "list" is the external data.

MS Access Can't Append All The Records In The Append Query

Feb 18, 2007

hi Guys,
I have been looking at different post and checking Microsoft help files as well, but still can't seem to fix this problem.

I am having 2 tables. The first table is connected to a form for viewing and entering data, and in the second table i am just copying 3-4 fields from the first table.

I am trying to use the insert statement to insert records in the second table, and everytime i click on the "Add" button to add the records i get the following error "MS access can't append all the records in the append query ... blah blah blah"

However if i close the form and reopen it, and goto the record (as it is saved in the first database) and now click on the add button to add the fields to the second table/database, it works.

What am i doing wrong???

Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Queries :: Return Values From A List

Feb 12, 2014

I have two tables, TBL_Students and TBL_Email. Each of these tables have a field called Category, which allows multiple values from a list.

Is there a way to return records from TBL_Students where at least one value in TBL_Students!Category = at least one value in TBL_Email!Category.

E.g. If Student A has categories Maths, Physics and Computing;Student B has categories Maths, English and History;Student C has categories Physics and Geography

I would expect:
when TBL_Email!Category = Maths,Physics : Students A,B,C to be returned
when TBL_Email!Category = Maths : Students A,B to be returned
when TBL_Email!Category = Physics,Geography : Students A,C to be returned

Queries :: ODBC - Return List Of Sub-accounts Associated With Main Account

Jul 28, 2015

I have a query which looks at a linked table (ODBC to SQL Server) in order to return a list of sub-accounts associated with an account. If I run it as a pass-through query it executes correctly, returning a list of the sub-accounts. If I run it as a query in Access it return the correct number of records but each sub account has the same name as the main account, as follows.

Result of pass through:
Main Sub
A X
A Y
A Z

Same SQL in Access:
Main Sub
A A

Table List On Append Query

Jan 24, 2008

I've just been upgraded to Office 2003 (from 2000) and I'm trying to create an append query. I have three tables but only two are displayed on the table list drop down. I can type in the missing table and the query works but I don't understand why all the available tables are not being shown. Does this happen for anyone else and what can I do?

TIA

Queries :: Copying List Box Selections Into Append Query

Dec 15, 2014

I've got a listbox on one of my forms (with multi select enabled). Essentially its a list of products, the idea is for the user to select as many products as he or she likes, then they click a button and the selected products show up in an append query, which will add records to a table.

How to copy the data from a list box to an append query (nothing that each selection should have its own row)...

i also wanna look into "Select All" and "Select None" buttons, is this possible?

Queries Randomly Fail On New PC

Nov 8, 2011

I have a database that I previously ran successfully on a Windows XP system. I recently received a new PC with Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit) that is having issues with running queries from the same database. I am still running the same version of Access (2003) on the new laptop but the queries seem to stall out and Access becomes non-responsive. Can switching from one operating system to another cause this issue? I am really just starting to use Access, so I am a novice at troubleshooting and thought that I would ask this question before digging deeper.

Insert Statement Fail

Apr 26, 2014

If I use this INSERT it works fine :

Code:
strSQL = "Insert into tblParkeerbeheer_log select * from parkeerbeheer where [ID] = " & Forms![parkeerbeheer]![fldID].Value & ""
DoCmd.RunSQL strSQL

But if I want to do the same with multiple records with Pnummer (personell number) as criteria in the WHERE clause :

Code:
strSQL = "Insert into tblParkeerbeheer_log select * from parkeerbeheer where [Pnummer] = " & Forms![parkeerbeheer]![Pnummer].Value & ""
DoCmd.RunSQL strSQL

It asks me to prompt the personell numer, while that number is present within the prompt box

Return All Matching Records

Aug 6, 2005

I have a database called LettersDatabase this databse holds all the letters that have been made including the path to the doc. I use SSN to ID the letters to customers on the Contacts Database.

Contacts database also uses the SSN to id the contacts

I have a form that creates new letters for customers in this form I have listbox that queries the LettersDatabase for all matching records based on the forms contact SSN to see how many letters have been made for that customer.

The problem is that my listbox only shows the first record matching that SSN but there are more records in that LettersDatabase with the same SSN that I need to have diplayed on the listbox as well.

I may be writing the query incorrectly.
Here what I have for the query on the listbox

Like[Forms]![LetterMaker]![txtSSN]

I try adding (&"*") to the end of the query but that does not help.

If anyone out there has the solution to this problem it would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Queries That Return No Records

Jan 31, 2006

Hi All,

I am wandering if it possible to check programatically whether a query returns a NULL result?

I am writing a program(VB) that involves an IFF statement where if there are records in the query it does a specific calculation & if there are no records returned in the query it does something else. Is this possible to achieve?

Thanks in advance:D

Only Return Current And Following Records

Oct 1, 2007

Hi.

i.e
I have a query with the following sort of information:-

MonthAmount
08/2007£100
09/2007£200
10/2007 £55
11/2007£60

As today being the 1st October, I would like the query to return the values for Oct and Nov.
The same values would be returned on the 31st Oct, but then the following day, only the Nov value would be returned...so, basically, it only returns the values of the current month and following months..

I am assuming I put something in the criteria of the query under the month? I have tried a number of things, with none working!!!

Thanks for reading....

Frank.

General :: Why Does OpenRecordSet Fail On Linked Table

Jan 16, 2013

I split my database into a FE and BE to simplify the upgrading of the clients copy. I had a chance to implement that change today and except for this error all seems to be well.

The error is "Invalid Operation 3219 " and flags this line of code "Set rsTable = dbsCurent.OpenRecordSet("Import650tbl, dbOpenTable, dbAppendOnly) " when the error is triggered. The table Import650tbl is a temporary holding table to which I enter imported records. I then add some supporting information and then the records are added to live data table for further processing. After the data is added to the live table the information in the Import650tbl is deleted by a query to be ready for tomorrows processing.

This error prevents the process from working. I got around the problem by deleting the link to the BE for this table and creating the table in the FE. After that all was well.

Question: Why does the above OpenRecordSet fail on the linked table?

Queries :: Return All Records With Last / Max Date

Apr 10, 2013

My issue surrounds retrieving the last (based on most recent date) set of records based on the most recent date. I have query, containing 2 tables as the sources for the query results. Currently, the query yields:

Field A Field B Field C
123456 AAAA 1/8/13
123456 BBBBI 1/8/13
123456 CCCC 1/8/13
123456 DDDD 1/8/13
123456 EEEEEE 3/10/13
123456 FFFFFF 3/10/13
123456 GGGG 3/10/13
123456 HHHH 3/28/13
123456 IIII 3/28/13
123456 JJJJ 3/28/13

The desired results would be to return all records with the last/max date, so yield:

123456 HHHH 3/28/13
123456 IIII 3/28/13
123456 JJJJ 3/28/13

I have tried the max & last functions, yet no success.
