ADO Recordset's Object Method Open

Jul 20, 2005

Hello group!

I use MS Visual C++ 6.0, ADO, MS SQL Server 2000.
When I attempt to open my database I meet with a following problem:
when I try to get a bookmark of the current record in a Recordset
object a following run-time error occurs: Unhandled exception in
testdb.exe(KERNEL32.DLL):
0xE06D7363: Microsoft C++ Exception.

I created my database by 3 SQL commands:

create database testdb
create table testtable
(
i int
)
insert into testtable values(0)

The error occurs in the following code snippet:
#import "D:Program FilesCommon FilesSystemADOmsado15.dll"
no_namespace rename("EOF", "EndOfFile")
int main()
{
CoInitialize(NULL);

bstr_t strCnn("Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=;"
"Initial Catalog=testdb;Trusted_Connection=YES;");

const char* tablename = "testtable";

_RecordsetPtr recs;
recs.CreateInstance(__uuidof(Recordset) );
recs -> Open(tablename, strCnn, adOpenStatic,
adLockOptimistic,adCmdTable);
_variant_t bm = recs -> Bookmark; // the error occurs here
recs -> Close();
CoUninitialize();
}

During the debugging this code I met that the error depended on a type
of locking. When I set adLockBatchOptimistic or adLockOptimistic
or adLockPessimistic the error occurs but when I set adLockReadOnly or
adLockUnspecified it doesn't occur. By the way this error doesn't
occur when
I open Pubs database with any type of locking. What is a cause of this
error?
Thank you.

Timeout For Recordset.Requery Method

Jun 8, 2007

I have an application coded in C++ using ADO. It has a very simple Recordset that opens a table and gets only one record without any filtering. The CommandTimeout is set to 600 (seconds). Once a while I get a timeout error generated by Requery() that puzzles me. I cannot imagine how Requery (i.e. close the Recordset and open it to get only one record in my case) can take 600 seconds.

Any clue would be greatly appreciated.

My problem is an legacy VB6 application that work (well fine) with SQL7 server, but, when i change the odbc of the desktops systems to the new 2005 SQL server and run this legacy application hi recibe this error:

I have look on the source code of the legacy application, and someone of the segment's that causes error is:

Default Open Method For QA

Dec 21, 2005

Whenever I open a .sql file in QA, the dialog box always displays the files in the 'list' format (you need to scroll side-to-side to see the files). However, I prefer the 'details' format, where I can see the file size and the date created (and sort by them).

Does anyone know how to change the default so I can open files the way I want to open them?

Vista ADODB Recordset Can't Create ActiveX Object

Jul 19, 2007

Somehow, (I think the user ran a registry cleaner) on Vista, I can no longer create an adodb recordset object.

The app is a VB6 app that works fine on my own Vista Ultimate, my XP boxes and about everthing else prior, but not on the one Vista Home Premium.

I get Error 429 ... Cannot Create ActiveX Object when creating a new adodb.recordset object.

I guess what I need is a way to repair the Vista Home-P machine without having to wipe it.

I see that MDAC_Typ is not recommended as a fix.

I'm at a loss on this one.

Shredding Recordset Object Var In ForEach Loop (problem)

Feb 14, 2006

I have a package that starts by loading a recordset into an object variable. The recordset is then enumerated with a ForEach loop. The loop sets some string variables. Within the loop container I have a Script task that uses a MsgBox to show the results for testing purposes. The package uses checkpoint restart (if that matters?).

The first time I run the package the 1st record is displayed in the MsgBox, then the 2nd, but then the loop is stuck on the 2nd record forever. I break the run, and when I rerun it the 1st record is displayed followed by each subsequent record correctly and the package completes successfully. Now, if I were to run again the same problem would occur on rec 2 and I would have to break the run, and then the next run everything would work fine.

Why does the script get caught in an infinite loop the first time it's run, but works fine when restarting from the checkpoint?

Here's my relevant code:

ForEach: Enumerator=ADO Enumerator, Enumeration Mode=Rows in first table

Public Sub Main()
Dts.Variables("User::SQL1").Value = "SELECT src.* FROM " & Trim(Dts.Variables("User::Src1Tbl").Value.ToString)
MsgBox("sql=" & Dts.Variables("User::SQL1").Value.ToString)
Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success
End Sub

Multiple Reads Of User Variable (Recordset Object) Failing

Mar 1, 2007

I hope this is a simple question. I have a package-scope user variable which is populated using a Recordset Destination in a Data Flow task. I am attempting to read the variable multiple times from different Script Tasks. The first read works fine, however the second read, in the second Script Task, says that there are no rows.

Has anyone run across this before? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Error Message When I Call The Pull Method Of An RDA Object

Mar 27, 2008

Hi, I've got the error message below:
"Error 80040E2F. A duplicate value cannot be inserted into a unique index [Table name=_SysRDASubscriptions, Constraint name=c_LocalTableName]"

I'm using SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition and still cannot solve the problem although the KB article (920272) said it is fixed in V3.1.

What I need to do is to drop a table and then Pull it again to the PDA but it gives me that error message during pull method. However, I can use the same process to drop and pull other tables and works fine. Will that be the problem related to primary key or to the data of the table?

Please help!! Thx.

What Does Object Was Open Error Mean?

Feb 14, 2005

Hi, I am accessing an MSDE Database from within a C# program. When calling the OleDbConnection.Open() method, I get the following error:

Exception: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException
Message: Object was open.
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.ProcessResults(Int32 hr)
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.InitializeProvider()
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.Open()

Now I do not know what this means, since the Connection isn't open. And I do not know why this occurs. I am accessing the same database (but other tables) in the same program several times in the same way and do not get this error.

Any ideas?

'Object Was Open' In SQL 2005

Jun 6, 2008

I am getting an error 'Object was open' when executing a stored procedure with larger am amounts of data. This procedure runs from a VB 6.00 application on SQL 2005. When running the script in SQL there is no problem

rs.Open cmd, Options:=adCmdStoredProc

IMPORTANT: This error ONLY happens with large amount of data. The threshold level is about 250000 rows of data. If more than that amount of data is retreived the error occurs. If less then there is no problem.

Any suggestion would be greatfull

Leave The Connection Open Or Always Open And Close Immediately?

Jun 7, 2006

Hi there,

I got an approach like that:
1) Read something from DB - check the value, if true stop if false go on2) Read the second Value (another SQL Statement) - check the value etc.
Now I could open the connection at 1) and if I have to go to 2) I leave the connection open and use the same connection at 2). Is it ok to do that?
The other scenario would be opening a connection at 1), immediately close it after I read the value and open a new connection at 2).
Thanks for the input!

' The Definition Of Object [object Name] Has Changed Since It Was Compiled' Error When Altering A Trigger In 2005

Aug 17, 2007

Hello All

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question to, so if it's not, please accept my apologies.

I'm working in SQL Server 2005 with a database that was migrated to 2005 from SQL Server 2000. I have to alter a trigger on a table for some functionality changes, and when I modify the trigger and then access it through the application the database is working with, I receive this error:

There was a error in the [stored procedure name] procedure. Error Number: -2147217900 Error Description: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The definition of object '[trigger name]' has changed since it was compiled.

[stored procedure name] and [trigger name] are where the actual names appear in the message.

I've tried running sp_recompile on the trigger, stored procedure, and table that are associated with this, and nothing works. I have dropped the trigger, which allows the save process to complete (but doesn't perform the required functionality, of course), and then re-created the trigger, but the error message still comes up. The compatibility level for the database is SQL Server 2000 (80) (as it was migrated from SQL Server 2000 as I mentioned above).

Has anyone seen this, and if so, how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jay

When Using A Sqldataadapter In VS 2005 I Get The Following Error At Runtime. Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object

Dec 21, 2006

Help! I have posted this before and I had hoped that the VS2005 SP1 would help my problem. It didn't. My code is shown below. I have dropped a sqlconnection, sqldataadapter and a strongly-typed dataset from the toolbox onto the component designer for my page and written my code. It compiles without any errors but at runtine I receive the system error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." The error occurs at the first line where the sqldataadapter is mentioned. I have shufflled the code and the error still occurs at first mention of the dataadapter. I have set parameters to a simple string such as "myemail." It hasn't helped. I have used the "Dim" statement as "Dim DaAuthorLogin as System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataadapter and Dim DaAuthorLogin as New ......) at the start of the private sub generated by the event requiring the data. Nothing helps. Here is my simple code to select data from a sqlserver 2000 database. Why do I continue to get this error?

Predict Query Gives 'DMPluginWrapper; Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object' Error

Mar 17, 2008

Hi,

I am trying to develop a custom algorithm. I have implemented and tested training methods, however I fail at prediction phase. When I try to run a prediction query against a model created with my algorithm I get:

Executing the query ...
Obtained object of type: Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdDataReader
COM error: COM error: DMPluginWrapper; Object reference not set to an instance of an object..
Execution complete

I know this is not very descriptive, but I have seen that algorith doesn't even executes my Predict(..) function (I can test this by logging to a text file)
So the problem is this, when I run prediction query DMPluginWrapper gives exception -I think- even before calling my custom method.

As I said it is not a very descriptive message but I hope I have hit a general issue.

Thanks...
