Cannot Open Data File Error While Running SSIS Package Through SQL Server Job

Mar 10, 2008

Hi,

I created a SSIS package which will generate an output file and place it on a remote fileshare location which will look something like this

\RemoteServerNameRemoteFilePath

The package is executing fine when I am executing it through BIDS or through execute package utility and writing the output file to remote file share location.

I created a SQL job for the package and ran the Job. Then, its throwing an error saying

Executed as user: DomainUser. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 9.00.3042.00 for 32-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 10:33:06 AM Finished: 10:33:22 AM Elapsed: 15.891 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed.

DomainUser have all the permissions on the remote file share location.
SQL server agent is running with the log-on account DomainUser(same as the above).

Could anyone help me in resolving this issue.

Thanks & Regards,
Sriram.

SQL Server Admin 2014 :: Cannot Open Data File When Running Agent Job

Apr 30, 2015

I recently installed standalone version of SQL 2014 Standard on my work computer. I used Access before but I want to use a SQL server instead.

We have a shared drive that a file gets deposited every day at midnight. I want to be able to get this file and import it to the server (its basically a list of names).

Here what I have done so far:

I created the database

Created the file and successfully imported data into it using the Import Data feature.

I saved the SSIS package

Scheduled an Agent Job for this package to run at certain time, daily

At first the jobs would fail with a Access is Denied. I added a user under Credentials with my network account ( have admin rights on the work computer). Also added a Proxy for the Credential user I made.

Jobs fail with a “Cannot open data file” error. I tried changing things here and there, but I can’t get it to work.

Data Warehousing :: Running SSIS Package As Server Agent

Nov 23, 2010

My package is connecting to an external data provider using an OLEDB driver . The package runs fine in debug mode. When i tried to run the same from SQL server agent it failed  to aquire the connection. The OLEDB provider does not contain too much of information , ( connection string, initial catalog, blank user name and password). The same package executes successfully if i run using dtexec in BAT file. But if i use the dtexec in sql server job step as operating system command and try to run, the job will fail reporting " can not aquire the connection".

Problems Running A Bat File Within A SSIS Package

Jul 13, 2007

I have a ssis package which has 2 tasks, first it builds an excel sheet with data on the server from where I am running the ssis pkg and the second task (a sql process task), runs a bat. the bat file that basically copies the excel sheet created from the first step to another server. Problem is that the ssis pkg runs succesful when i run it from BIDS, bust when I run is as ajon, it gets hung. It completes the first step, it is the sescond step that is get hung. I noticed that when i run from BIDs, it does come up with a window open file - security warning and says the publisher could not be verified, are you sure you want to run this software. why does it do that ??? the file I am asking to run is a .bat file. it should automatically use the cmd.exe app to run the bat file. Please help !!!

Thanks in advance.

Apr 9, 2008

Hi i get a error when i run my SSIS package. Here is the message

Error: 0xC02020A1 at import file, Flat File Source [1]: Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "su_supplier_code" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.".

The funny thing about this is when i run the job a 2nd time it works fine.

Error Running Ssis Package

I run an ssis task with right click in the BIDS.
the task transform data of the tables between sql2005 DB to another sql2005 DB.
this is the error I get:

i have a similar task, only diffrent tables that being transfered, same settings. this task run succesfully.
for the task that fails it takes a long time to run (something like half an hour, maybe more) and then it falils. the task that succeeds finish fast (something like 5 minutes). the data in the tables that being transeferred in the good task is much smaller than the data in the tables in the failed task.

Anyone knows the reason to the error.

Thanks.

Error In Running SSIS Package On 64 Bit System With /SET

Feb 23, 2008

Hi All,

I would appreciate if someone can help me with the following:

I have package that I designed on 32 bit system. It was copied over to 64 bit server's directory (Production).

I am trying to execute that package using DtExec utility. My package has some parameters that I am trying to set on the command prompt using /SET option. Everything runs fine on 32 bit system (that is my dev box) but I get the following on 64 bit system (Production):

Command that I am trying to run is:
dtutil.exe /FILE "e:external_dataSSISXXX.dtsx"
/SET "Package.Variables[User::ASServer].Properties[Value]";"CP_Promotion"

I get the following errors:

Microsoft (R) SQL Server SSIS Package Utilities
Version 9.00.1399.06 for 64-bit
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2004. All rights reserved.

Option "/SET" is not valid.

On 64 bit system, I don't have 32 bit version of DTExec installed. According to Books On Line the syntax to use DTExec on both 32 bit and 64 bit system are the same. Can /SET not be used in 64 bit system.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Problem When Running A SSIS Master-package-child Package On Non Default Sql-server Instance

Dec 6, 2007

Hi there

We have a SSIS run which runs as follows

The master package has a configuration file, specifying the connect strings
The master package passes these connect-strings to the child packages in a variable
Both master package and child packages have connection managers, setup to use localhost. This is done deliberately to be able to test the packages on individual development pcs.
We do not want to change anything inside the packages when deploying to test, and from test to production. All differences will be in the config files (which are pretty fixed, they very seldom change). That way we can be sure that we can deploy to production without any changes at all.

The package is run from the file system, through a job-schedule.

We experience the following when running on a not default sql-server instance (called dkms5253uedw)

Case 1:
The master package starts by executing three sql-scripts (drop foreign keys, truncate tables, create foreign keys). This works fine.

The master package then executes the first child package. We then in the sysdtslog get:

Error - cannot connect to database xxx?
Info - package is preparing to get connection string from parent ?

The child package then executes OK, does all its work, and finish. Because there has been an error, the master package then stops with an error.

Case 2:
When we run exactly the same, but with the connection strings in the config file pointing to the default instance (dkms5253), the everything works fine.

Case 3:
When we run exactly the same, again against the dkms5253uedw instance, but now with the exact same databases defined in the default instance, it also works perfect.

Case 4:
When we then stop the sql-server on the default instance, the package faults again, this time with

Error - timeout when connect to database xxx?
Info - package is preparing to get connection string from parent ?

And the continues as in the first case

From all this we conclude, that the child package tries to connect to the database before it knows the connection string it gets passed in the variable from the master package. It therefore tries to connect to the default instance, and this only works if the default instance is running and has the same databases defined. As far as we can see, the child package does no work against the default instance (no logging etc.).

We have tried delayed validation in the packages and in the connection managers, but with the same results (error).

So we are desperately hoping that someone can help us solve this problem.

Thanx,
/Nils M - Copenhagen

SQL Server 2008 :: Data Import With CSV File For SSIS Package

Mar 24, 2015

I'm trying to create an import package using BIDS. I'm using SQL Server 2008. The data is saved as a .csv file so that I can use the flat file option for data source. The issue I am having is that when I preview the flat file after selecting it as the datasource, some of the data that have the numeric file format are showing up as non numeric, for instance the value -1,809,575,682,700 is being viewed as ""1 and the package is giving a conversion error.

Error Running SQL 2005 SSIS Package When Calling It From MS Access

Dec 17, 2007

I am trying to execute an SSIS package from an MS Access 2003 database that imports a table from the Access database into a target table in SQL 2005. I saved the package in SQL 2005 and tested it out. If I run it from the Management Studio Console with Run->Execute ... everything works just fine. However, if I try to run it using "Exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell 'DTExec /SER DATAFORCE /DTS SQL2005TestPackage /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING V'" the execution will always fail when the Access database is open (shared mode). It will only work when the Access database is not open. The connection manager looks like this: "Data Source=E:Test.mdb;Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Persist Security Info=False;Jet OLEDB:Global Bulk Transactions=1". The error is listed below:

Code: 0xC0202009
Source: NewPackage Connection manager "SourceConnectionOLEDB"
Description: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.
An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft JET Database Engine" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Could not use ''; file already in use.".

What am I doing wrong?

Running A SSIS Package As A Job Error - With A Connection To An Oracle Database

Oct 10, 2007

Hi,

I have installed MS SQL Server 2005 and Service Pack 2 on a new Windows 32-bit environment. I also installed the 32-bit 10g client (the Administrator option). The tnsnames.ora file is configured properly and I can tnsping to the Oracle database without any issues. I have created a package in Visual Studio and it runs successfully when I execute the job manually. I saved the package to the MS SQL Server and when I log into Management Studio to create a job for this package, I receive the following error:

I have created the package and logged into the server with the same ID to set up the job. And I have set the ProtectionLevel property to "Don't Save Sensitive Data" since I know this has been an issue in the past when I tried automating the job. I've four posts regarding this error message on the MSDN forums that aren't helpful at this moment - I'm hoping that someone will have found a solution since those posts. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks for your help!

SQL Server To Generate XML Instead Of Redendant Query..file Open During Write Problem Or Job Not Running...

Jul 23, 2005

Here's a challenge that is killing me:I've got 2 web servers and a SQL Server and about 5,000 'users' whostay connected to the site all day. I have a page that is supposed tobe 'real-time', so to do this, I have a 1px frame that refreshes every15 seconds (so the other frame doesn't have to reload all the time--thetop only reloads when a new record or a changed record hits the db).The real time data can be filtered in about 8 different ways.Currently, I have each user querying a table that contains 1 record, including the max ID and the most current insert/update posting date. The browser contains a cookie with that date. When the browser receivesnotification that there is some new info on the server, it refreshesthe top page and reloads the data. This is happening for all users. So,I thought to eliminate the 5,000 users running the same (or closevariations) of the same query each time a records is inserted/updated,that I would generate an XML file with the current day's data.In a dev environment this works 'ok'. I'm doing this by running anActiveX job on the SQL Server that calls a stored proc (FOR XML) andwrites the content to a file. Then from the web servers, I'm queryingthis file for the new timestamp and then if newer than the cookie, grabbing the XML (using the httprequest in the ASP XMLDOM) and usingXSLT to transform the data instead of parameterizing the queries.Theoretically I love this solution. Problems happen in a LIVEenvironment where either the file is being written to or the job isn'table to run. When 2 records are trying to be written within the samesecond, the file isn't being written (or maybe that the http requestingthe XML is keeping the file locked?)....anyway...this is a HUGE problethat I can't seem to solve. Once we roll to .NET I think storing thedataset in cache and updating cache (still don't know how I'll triggerthat without each user checking the db)....Long winded, sorry...help?

Running SSIS Package On SQL Server 2000 ?

Oct 19, 2007

Hello!

Im currently developing an import/export package in SSIS. I recently realized that this package is supposed to be run on a SQL Server 2000 instance, and I have no clue if this will work...
Im pretty new to SQL Server, but I now that DTS from 2000 ws replaced by SSIS in 2005,
and the command-line dtsrun replaced by dtexec.

So my question: Will I be able to run a SSIS package on SQL Server 2000, and how would I do that?

Daniel

Running A SSIS Package Remotely On The SQL Server

Feb 7, 2006

We have a package (which uses SQL Server Destination Task) imported in the SQL Server. Is it possible to invoke this SSIS package from a remote App Server through C# .NET.

We would like to execute the SSIS package in the SQL Server itself and pass on the results of execution to the calling C#.NET application via the output variables declared in the SSIS package.

Thanks,

EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION Within SQL Server When Running SSIS Package

May 14, 2007

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum, so please point me in the right direction if it isn't.

I'm getting an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION and a minidump in the SQL server logs when using the OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.

The error occurs when I run an SSIS package non-interactively (using Package.Execute). The odd thing is that the package works fine when I run it from within Visual Studio. Also, this same bit of code was working fine a couple of weeks ago (it's part of my unit tests, it just started failing when I added a new, unrelated SSIS package to the project). The error occurs during the validation phase.

Here's the first part of the stack dump, which just shows that the provider is executing a very simple statement (SELECT * FROM [table-name]):

Code Snippet

Problem Running SSIS Package On 64 Bits Server.

Mar 6, 2008

Hi,

I developed an SSIS package on my computer (32bits).
The package basically get data from excel file and save it to a sql database.
I use an OLE DB connection to the excel file:
Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Extended Properties=Excel 12.0;

other info: Run64bitRuntime : false

It works fine on my local computer.
I use the DeploymentManifest to deploy the package on the server. (all validations are ok).

But when I run a job which run the package i get this:
