T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Query To Show Only Top Or Main Team For Team Member
Nov 2, 2014Team members appear twice or more if they belong to more than one team. I need to be able to show their name and main team. Team is not important at the moment but I just like to include all team members and display a team name against them.This is what I have at the moment:

Giving Members Of A Team Copies Of A Database
Nov 25, 2007I'm working in a team, and need to share a database between the group - we don't have the luxury of sharing a server and connecting to it.
So What we'd like to do is make a copy of the database schema, and then share that through our repository.
I figured I just need to copy the .mdf file from the sql server database folder, and put it in the visual studio directory to work on it?
So I've tried this, but when I try to create a TableAdapter to the database through visual studio, It gives me an "access denied". I figure this is probably something to do with security settings?
Do you think I'll need to change my Database connection from windows authentication to sql authentication?
I don't really know exactly how to do what I'm trying to do, so any help will be appreciated.
SQL Server Instances For Business Contact Manager 2007 Database?

Hi, i have created a database in business contact manager which is currently been used by five toher employees. I was trying to move that database to my server. Well I found this tool online called "Business contact manager 2007 database tool". I am trying to run it on the server but it is giving me a following error:
"Cannot retrive the list of SQL Server instances. Please make sure that SQL Server 2005 or SQL 2005 Express is installed and that the service is running."
I have SQL 2005 installed on my computer and I dont have any idea how to resolve this issue. It would be great if someone could help me.

What Role Does Quotes Serve
Jul 11, 2013This is what the crystal reports makes, when you enter the tables and link. I also have some sql that i pasted there without the quotes. THey both run. Only isssue I have is that my sql which is a view does not update on demand from the server. IOW, they enter a new row. and it's not immediatlyin the crystal report. I asked the user if he can logout and back in and he says that he doesn't have to do that with other crystal reports.

I have a server (ETL Server) ETL tool used is SQL Server Integration Services
And I have a source system with SQL Serve 2000 installed.
The problem I€™m facing in here is I€™m not able to get connect to my source system through connection manager.
I had developed few packages earlier but my source was oracle so I had installed oracle client in my ETL Server and got my source component connected to the source system.
Now I wanted to connect to sql sercer database in different server in network.

SQL Server Management Studio - Connecting To Serve
Sep 20, 2007I am trying to connect to a sql server 2005 server using either the SQL Server Management Studio program using either windows auth or sql server auth but I can not. When I click on the connect button to connect to a server it never connects. I can not cancel once I press connect. It never times out after I press connect. I removed all registered servers that were registered previously. I have uninstalled all software that involved sql server (and sql2000) run a registry cleaner(not microsofts), installed the software to a new directory and still I can not connect to the sql2005 server (the only db).
I tested the connection from my machine to the production database system using osql and it worked fine. I registered the server tested the connection (using the management studio) and it tested fine. When I try to connect to the database engine it does not work.
When I had another user login to my machine and launch the SQL Server Management Studio I noticied that it ran a configuration utility for first use. When I uninstalled the SQL Server Management Studio on my machine it never came up again. Is there any way that I can get the configuration utility to run again on my account?
Any ideas? Things to test?

Dec 2, 2014I have just finished configuring my first test mirrored environment (High safety mode). I setup the database engine service accounts on each of the servers with domainuser. I inherited a production mirrored environment set up by someone else. On the production servers the database engine service account is NT Authorityuser a local account. I am trying to practice installing Windows updates within a mirrored environment and I not sure how to proceed when the service account is NT Authority user account. should I change the service account to a domainuser?

Relate A Contact To Customer
Feb 8, 2007I have a contact table and a customer table. The two tables will contain columns like
First name
Last Name,
Date of Birth
Post Code,
House Number
Street Name
etc.
I would like to find the different combinations in which I can relate the customer and contact data.
Like its is possible that the first name and last name are same but date of birth is different. This indicates that the contact and customer is the same. Now I do not know these combinations and I would like to have this set generated for me.
From Integration Service (Sql Server 2005) I get the data and I would like to know the patterns in which data will differ. Is there any way of achieving this?
I am very new to Data Mining and would like to have some direction as to how to progress with this.

The Microsoft Jet Database Engine Cannot Open MS-Access Database

I have MS-Access as data source for one of the reports. I can preview the report fine from BI studio however, it does not work when I deploy it on report server.
The error is :
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source '<data source name>'.
The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '<UNC location of the MS-Access database>'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
MS-Access database is located on a different server.
Any help to solve this? I understand it has something to do with permission both on server where reporting service is running as well as the server where MS-access database is located. Pls help.

Help With Duplicate Contacts In Contact Table
Sep 23, 2005I'm new to SQL with 2 weeks under my belt....lol, so this may be a simple edit:
When I run the following query, I can get a list of all dups in the contact field:

However:
I need to make sure I am de-activating (active = 0) only the contacts where they are listed more then once within the same company table (company.company_id) and the condition is that phone is NULL. I can't seem to make it work. Does anyone have any suggestions for an UPDATE I can use?
Day Of Week Comparison For Contact Availability?
Sep 19, 2013I am trying to figure out the availability of a contact by comparing their available flag to the current day of the week. IE, the contact has 7 BIT fields in the table,1 for each day of the week, being T or F depending on if they are available. I'm trying to figure out how to read the correct field based on the day of the week to see if their available (T) that day for a notification. Each field name in the table is as such: mon, tue, wed, etc. I can get the current DOW from sql and trim it to the same length and case of the field names to try and figure out which one I need to check whether that fields contents are true or not.

This is all ok.
I am able to use the webpart to create a report view but it wants the report. Is there a way to manage the report server (they way I did with reportmanager) in sharepoint. If so I have not found out how.

SSIS Setup For Team Work
Jun 22, 2006I would like to setup SSIS project so that multiple developers can work on same project. I am having issues with protectionlevel properties while another developer opens the package created by other developer.
Can anyone guide me on setting up project so that multiple developers could open the package and run (not simaltaneously though). Also tips on setting up source safe or team foundation will be appreciated!

SSIS And Team Foundation Server
Dec 14, 2006First let me say, I play to try and write up something more formal with some details of my recent frustrations of moving my SSIS packages into Team Foundation Server, I'm curious though if I'm the only one doing this.
Its seems that TFS is severely lacking some functionality to make it truly useful for SSIS. First and foremost the lack of it's ability to have an offline working mode and its inability to merge DTSX files (coupled with the fact there is no "Check-out but keep local copy" ability)
Has any one else been using TFS and SSIS, are you finding it to be adequate? I'm hoping to find out where the major issues are so we can bring it to the attention of MS for some updates. I fear this combination might not be extensively used and as a result support will be overlooked by MS in upcoming service packs.

Storing 2 Instants Of Contact In A Seperate Table
May 25, 2007Hi, this is my first post to this forum so thank you all in advance..
I am trying to design a database to store information about the Specification required by each customer. And the main problem I am having is how to store 2 instants of ContactID (from CustomerContacts table) in a seperate table called CustomerSpec.
For example each Customer has many contacts,(the Customer data is stored in a table called Customers which has a one to many relationship with the CustomerContacts table) each customer has one and only one Customer spec, and each customer spec needs to have 2 customer contacts, ie. one for Artwork and one production. (it should also be possible to have the same contact for both Artwork and production).
The problem is how to associate these contactId's with the customer spec...(if there was only one Contact per spec I could simply link the CustomerContacts table with the CustomerSpec table and drop ContactID into CustomerSpec as a foreign key.. But I am stuck to how to save more than one ID..
Can you help please..
