Could Not Get The Column Information From The OLE DB Provider 'IBMDA400'

I'm trying to get data from as400 server to sql server, trough a job.
The job executes a stored procedure that retrieves data from a view in an other database on the same server. That view gets the data from as400.
Now, when i run the mentioned stored procedure in the query analyzer, everything works fine, but when the stored procedure is executed from the scheduled job, it fails each time giving the error
"Could not get the column information from the OLE DB provider 'IBMDA400'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 7350). The step failed."
on random points during that process (by that i mean the lenght of time it runs)
does anyone know what the diffrence is between executing an sp in query analyzer or using a job, keeping in mind retrieving data from as400?
My objective to use SSIS to to pull data from DB2 and store into SQL Server.
Working environment is: =========================== Database: DB2 UDB iSeries V5R3 Provider: IBM DB2 UDB for iSeries IBMDA400 OLE DB Provider SQL Server 2005 SP: Latest i-e SP2
In connection manager, i have changed the following properties in OLEDB driver settings and connection with DB2 is tested successfully. 1- CATALOG LIBRARY LIST = AS/400 library 2- PERSIST SECURITY INFO = TRUE 3- INITIAL CATALOG = Database Name 4- Defualt Collection = AS/400 library
After testing connection, I Created an OLE DB source and in OLE DB Datasource Editor set following properties: 1- VALIDATE EXTERNAL METADATA = FALSE 2- ALWAYS USE DEFAULT CODE PAGE = TRUE
In OLEDB source editor, if i use "Table or View" name option then the drop table list is populated perfectly and i can specify any table. With this option Package executes fine. But if i use the SQLCommand and specify the query, it prase the query correctly and i can preview the data in this source editor. But upon execution package return the following error message.
[OLE DB Source [1]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E00.
There is a workaround of this problem i-e to use Datareader in source but i am interested to go with OLEDB.
I am run the ETL package through the SQL Server Agent, the job fails with the error message
"System.InvalidOperationException: The 'IBMDA400.DataSource.1' provider is not registered on the local machine.".
But when i run trough the UI is runs fine.
I am uisng OLE DB driver to the connect to AS400.
can you please tekk ne where a im going wrong.

I am in process of transfering data from Sybase to Sql Server using SSIS 2005
have taken a Data Flow Task in Control Flow tab
In Data flow tab, I have taken one Ole DB Source and One OLe DB Destination
For the source, I am using Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere Provider 8.0
For Destination, I am using Sql Server 2005 database
In Ole Db Source Editor , For OLe Db Connection Manager, I choose Sybase Connection For Data access mode, I choose Table or View For Name of the table or the view, I choose a table by name Table1( it lists all the tables from Sybase database)
When i click on preview button or Columns link, I get the following Error
Error at Data Flow Task [OLE DB Source [1]]: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.
Error at Data Flow Task [OLE DB Source [1]]: Unable to retrieve column information from the data source. Make sure your target table in the database is available.
What query should I run? 1. To determine whether a column is a rowguid or not using C# .NET 1.1 2. To add/modify column information and be able to set/change: - Primary key - Column Name - Data Type - Length - Allow Null - Default value - Precision - Scale - Identity - Identity Seed - Identity Increment - Row guid
I am using IBMDA400 driver in SQL integration services. I do not want to turn on Journaling on the tables I am writing to. I need to figure out a way to turn off Commitment control with using the IBMDA400 driver properties. Can anybody help with me with this?

I need a recordset containing the Name, Datatype, Size, Precision, and Name_of_parent_table of all columns in all non-system tables in a given database.
Most likely this can be accomplished with one or two SPs, but which ones? And how?
Is it possible to retrieve column information alone in the sp_columns command? I saw that it has an additional option "@column_name". But when I include it in my sql, it doesn't work the way I had expected it to..
I had tried sp_columns @table_name='mytable', @column_name='COLUMN_NAME'
I expect just the column names alone in the resultset. What am I doing wrong here?

I can preview the SQL command in the OLE DB Source Editor and bring back all columns and results just fine but when I click on the Columns I get

The columns are there in the preview - why can't SSIS get the column information?
I am trying to set up a data flow task. The source is "SQL Command" which is a stored procedure. The proc has a few temp tables that it outputs the final resultset from. When I hit preview in the ole db source editor, I see the right output. When I select the "Columns" tab on the right, the "Available External Column List" is empty. Why don't the column names appear? What is the work around to get the column mappings to work b/w source and destination in this scenario.
In DTS previously, you could "fool" the package by first compiling the stored procedure with hardcoded column names and dummy values, creating and saving the package and finally changing the procedure back to the actual output. As long as the columns remained the same, all would work. Thats not working for me in SSIS.
Hey, I changed the database name in the initial cataloge in the web.config conncetion string so that it now connects to other databas that contains same tables as the old one,but now i am getting that error at the update stmt ! thank u in advance Hiba
Hello, I am getting very frustrated! I have got a Foreach loop container which I am processing files within a folder. I have a flatfile connection manager which I have set up using a test file and have updated the expressions attribute to be the package variable I set up in the collection for the loop container however everytime I run it I get the error: 0xC0202094 cannot retrieve the column information from the flatfile connection manager. I can only guess that it is either the variable being passed to the connection manager or the way I set up the connection manager. When I msgbox the variable in a script component before the dataflow step, the variable for the file seems fine. Any suggestions are REALLY appreciated.
I've developed a package that is working well at development machine from VS 2013 for a sample flat file. Also, over development machine, I've deployed it to SSISDB catalogue and even from there also it is running well for the same file.When the same package is deployed to production server's SSISDB catalogue database, it throws following error while processing the same sample flat file, “Unable to retrieve column information from the flat file connection manager”

We just changed the dev environment to sqlagent. From then we were unable to see the reports on the report server because:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'IHRSDataSource'.

this error is cropping up.
To Resolve this issue, we checked the Surface Area Configuration and also checked the Reporting Service Configuration . There seem to be no problem and everything looks ok.

I am new to dotnet. I tried connecting to the database MS SQL Server 2000. I gave the code like, the one below, in form load event,

It tries connecting to SQL Server 2005. There is no SQL Server 2005 in that system. There is only SQL Server 2000.
I have the aspx code in my local system and the database in another machine.

I realised this has been done to death, and so much information out there but I am still in a quandry.
I have had to rebuild my computer.
This is what I did
XP machine using SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition using Windows Authentication NZ6(MSSQLSERVER)
straight default install all the way
unfortunately when ready to run reports from my instance(computer) I received the error as in provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server
thought I had it all okayed but obviously something not right
so ended up unistalling then - did the following:
Load SQL Server from disc1 and start install failed on alter Counter Registry key error fixed this from KB article (known error that can happen) restarted Went to Windows Update check IIS is installed - tick is on - IIS - admin tools - make sure asp2 is associated - yes ok Then back to install sql server - there is no instance set up yet Disk 2 and setup .exe
All ok on Reporting Services, Analysis etc.
But once again all seems fine but still getting the error:
connection is all fine in Management Studio - eg I can see tables etc connection is all fine in Business Intelligence - eg I can preview my reports I then can deploy up to - NZ6 open NZ6 eports report is there fine - but just errors
some simple little tick that I have not done!!
I seem to have checked and rechecked everything and obviously doing another re-install does not seem a logical step from here. I will continue to check but if someone jump in and advise please would be great.
I am creating a web site using Visual Studio 2008 & trying to connect to database on SQL Server 2000. My test connection is successful but while debugging the page I am getting this error : " provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server "
Solutions recommended for this were start running the SQL browser instance and enable Namespipes in Sqlserver configuration manager.Did both.. but nothing worked.
