Destination Resets When Changing Selected Databases
Sep 19, 2006
I discovered that everytime I need to add a database to my backup Maintenance Plan, after I select the new database from the drop-down of databases, the Destination automatically resets back to a default location.
I'm assuming this is a bug that will be resolved at some point, but in the meantime, I need to see if there is a way I can deal with this permanently. I am not the only one adding databases to the backup routine so I can't verify that this setting is properly changed every time we have a new database (which is about once a week).
i am transfering the table from one database to csv file format..i did it.. again i want to shift that csv files to another databse as tables. how to do this task.. pls help me.. its very urgent..out TL had given me the dead line.. send reply soon....
I created a package using the Import Data wizard and everything works fine when I re-execute it. I needed to change the name of the destination table so I went into SQL Server and renamed the table. I then went in and edited the DTSX file via a text editor and changed the OpenRowset setting from [CMBS].[dbo].[raw_Note] -> [CMBS].[dbo].[T_Raw_Note]
<property id="104" name="OpenRowset" dataType="System.String" state="default" isArray="false" description="Specifies the name of the database object used to open a rowset." typeConverter="" UITypeEditor="" containsID="false" expressionType="None">[CMBS].[dbo].[T_Raw_Note]</property>
There are no other references to the table in the DTSX, i saved the file and then re-ran.
When I run, I get invalid object name dbo.raw_Note (old table name). Is there some data being cached somewhere or hidden elsewhere that it would reference the old table? When I go back into the DTSX file, the correct name is in there so I don't know where it is getting the old name from? Any help would be appreciated.
I allowed the SQL Destination Editor to design my table from Output of a flat text file. Everything was varchar(50), but that was cool, because I got to see the data in the new staging tables it created. I went back and tweaked the data types and sizes for various columns to be more appropriate through the table designer in SQL Server Management Studio.
After doing so I get an error trying to edit the package, specifically parts of the destination in the data flow. I get the error "An error occurred due to no connection. A connection is required when requesting metadata... blah blah". I pick the TEST CONNECTION in the Connection Manager, and it works fine.
I am sure this is probably a basic issue of mechanics of use that I don't yet know because I am completely new to SSIS. Can someone please provide a hint, perhaps what I did wrong, and also, if you can see it how to redeem the error. Thanks!
I have a small problem. I've gone through the SSIS wizard and created a dtsx file which imports data from an access file into a SQL Server 2005 database. It has been set to delete existing rows and enable identity insert.
I then edited the .dtsx package in SQL Server Management Studio and added an environment variable configuration to allow me to change the destination database. In the script which runs the dtsx, here is what I have (it's an x64 system, so hi have to use DTExec):
Description: The configuration environment variable was not found. The envir onment variable was: "InitialCatalog". This occurs when a package specifies an e nvironment variable for a configuration setting but it cannot be found. Check th e configurations collection in the package and verify that the specified environ ment variable is available and valid.
I got the package.connections.etc etc path from originally creating the environment variable as an xml config file, then I could open the config file and see what the path was...
In a Data Flow Task, I have an insert that occurs into a SQL Server 2000 table from a fixed width flat file. The SQL Server table that the data goes into is accessed through an OLE DB connection manager that uses the Native OLE DBMicrosoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
In the OLE DB Destination, I changed the access mode from Table or View - fast load to Table or View because I needed to implement OLE DB Destination Error Output. The Error output goes to a SQL Server 2000 table that uses the same connection manager.
The OLE DB Destination Editor Error Output 'Error' option is configured to 'Redirect' the row. 'Set this value to selected cells' is set to 'Fail component'.
Was changing the access mode the simple reason why the insert from the flat file takes so much longer, or could there be other problems?
I have added a Slowly Changing Dimension transformation to an SSIS package and have launched the Wizard to edit it. After selecting the source (a SQL Server 2005 instance), if I select a very large table (9+ million rows), I'm encountering two strange behaviors: 1. The wizard hangs for several minutes before displaying the columns from that table. 2. The wizard does not display the primary key column. This, of course, is the column I want to designate as the "business key", but can't because it's not displayed. I know this is more like a fact table than a dimension, but this is not a data warehouse. This is just a very large table, and I need to update a field in certain records based on the contents of a source text file. Is there another transformation I should use to perform updates?
I am trying to run an update query for 2 identical databases. I am using SQL 2000. Here is the code for the loop. --***************************** USE DB1 Declare @Locnum1 integer set @Locnum1 = 0 While @locnum1 < 2 BEGIN Update OpenJob Set JobN = 15 WHERE (OpenJob.CustomerN = 183) USE DB2 Set @Locnum1 = @Locnum1 + 1 END --***************************** When I run this code it runs the update query on DB1 twice instead of switching to db2. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Can I change the folder that the databases reside in for my installation of SQL Server? I would like to have them in a folder on another drive, but I can't seem to find where the path is configured.Any help is appreciated.
OK, so I have an SSIS package that I build using the "test" database as the destination. Now I want to execute it using another database as the destination. This is basically for an installation script where the source is always the same, an access database.
Which works (sort of). It does try to import the data into "Test2DB", but what happens is all of the destination tables in the dtsx package have names like [test1db].[dbo].[tablename]
So my question is: is there a way to remove the databasename reference in the table names for all 195 tables in my database without doing it manually?
I am a newbie to developing .net applications unfortunately my boss and my colleaques think i am a pro (interview went too well) and i would like to get at least this months paycheck before am fired....so i here's my dumb question:
I want to create a SQL database from my vb.net application using stored procedures, however i want to be able to set the Filename attribute ('Filename = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL$SARDONYXINSTANCEData estdb.mdf') by means of a input parameter to the stored procedure. like so... Filename = @databasepath.
HERE is what i have: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CREATE PROCEDURE rico_dbasescript @Databasepath varchar(100) = 'c:program filesmicrosoft sql servermssql$sardonyxinstancedataSardonyxrioctestdb.mdf' , @Databaselogpath varchar(100)= 'c:program filesmicrosoft sql servermssql$sardonyxinstancedataSardonyxrioctestdblog.ldf' AS
IF EXISTS (SELECT name FROM master.dbo.sysdatabases WHERE name = N'Sardonyxrioctestdb') DROP DATABASE [Sardonyxrioctestdb]
The above procedure works fine when Filename = 'c:program filesmicrosoft sql servermssql$sardonyxinstancedataSardonyxrioctestdb.mdf' but bombs out when Filename = @Databaselogpath.
Using SSRS 2008 r2...I have a report with a single-value parameter and three multi-value parameters, Class1, Name2 and Name3. I'm hoping for an explanation to one thing that I'm seeing and information on a second thing.
Class1 and Name2 both have the (Select All) parameter selected but Class1 is displaying the concatenated parameter variable list whereas Name2 is showing Null. Why is that? If anything, how can I get Class1 to be similar to Name2 and show Null? But my desired wish is to have Class1, Name2 and Name3 display the text"All Selected" when the parameter (Select All) is chosen.
I have created a Transactional Replication Publication on my SQL 2012 server. When I log into another server on the domain running 2008R2 and try to subscribe to the 2012 Publication, I get the following error when clicking on "Add SQL Server Subscriber": "The selected Subscriber does not satisfy the minimum version compatibility level of the selected publication"
The 2012 DB is set as 2008 Compatibility Mode?Am I not able to Publish from 2012 to 2008?.I was using SSMS 2008 to connect to my 2012 Instance, thats why it didn't work...
I reset user passwords on SQL Server 6.5 when users forget them. How can I do this without using Enterprise Manager? Is there a stored procedure that I can call from iSQL?
Hello - I am aware of the new password policies in SQL Server 2005, but I have not seen this yet. Can anyone please tell if it is part of the new software?
When a password has been reset, you can force the user to change it upon initial login?
I have just upgraded a test server from sql server 2008 sp3 to sql server 2014 inplace upgrade. The compatability level of master database has not upgraded. It was showing 90 and the rest of system databases got updated to 120. Is it fine to update the compatibility level of master database ? Any precautions need to taken??
I am having a problem with Cascading Parameters in a RS2005 SP2 report. In the report the user selects the part # (param 1) based on the part number selected the serial # list (param 2) is populated. This all works fine.
The problem is that when the user clicks on the View report button the report is generated and the part # stays the same but the serial # parameter is "reset". On the development box it gets reset to the last serial # on the list. When we deploy out to our production environment it gets reset to the first serial # in the list.
Is there a way to stop the serial # (param 2) from being reset and to have it stay to what the user selected.
Whenever I apply a hotfix to my SQL 2005 install, the folder permissions on :Microsoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQL are always reset. Any reason why this happens? I have explicit permission set on that directory to allow our DBAs access as they are not admins on the server.
I have system database and user database file are present in G,H and W drive. The process is going to be - copy data from G to S, H to T, W to U. Rename G to X, H to Y and W to Z. Rename S to G, T to H and U to W. Reboot the servers. The original G, H and W will then be X, Y and Z. The old S will be the new G, old T will be H and old U will be W. My question is that after doing this whether my SQL server will start or not
I have query that calculate a running balance, but I need to reset that balance when it reaches 240. Then start calculating the balance again from that value. For instance, let's see we have the following table:
Dear Readers,Is it possible, like in Access, to link to tables in other SQL databases that are on the same server? I have a query that I originally had in Access that queered from multiply databases. It did this by having those other tables in the other databases linked to the database that had the query.
Dear readers, On my page people can opload foto's with a <asp:FileUpload ID="myfile" runat="server" BorderWidth="3px" BorderColor="Silver" BorderStyle="Inset" /> and stored the filePath in the database Now i want, that when there is no picture selected, the path to Noimage.jpg picture who is in my image map will stored on my datadbase. my script start like this If Not (myfile.HasFile) Then
////how can i select a standard image from my imageMap and store path to database /////

I am having a problem updating one field in a table the update should be the product of two other fields from the same row. There are atleast 3000+ records need to be updated here.
e.g.
update A set A.b = A.c * A.D
here b c and d are from same row .. I was wondering if someone knows how to solve this problem.
HI Guys, I have a question. I am converting Access SQL to SQL Server. One of the statements calls for a wildcard if the user does not select a value for the designated parm field. The value is selected from a cbolist (of names).
Current Statement: And tblRetailer_Contact.faxcontact LIKE *
I substituted: And tblRetailer_Contact.faxcontact LIKE ‘%@faxContacts%’
This might work if the User selects a name but if the User leaves it blank it will not work. Any ideas on how I go about establishing a wildcard if not name is selected?
DECLARE @FaxContact as varchar (50)
SET @H_Date = (SELECT StartDate FROM tblRpt_Params WHERE RptID = 5) SET @Start_Date = (REPLACE(REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR (8), @H_Date, 112), '-', ''), ' ', '')) SET @H_Date = (SELECT EndDate FROM tblRpt_Params WHERE RptID = 5) SET @End_Date = (REPLACE(REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR (8), @H_Date, 112), '-', ''), ' ', '')) SET @FaxContact = (SELECT FaxContact FROM tblRpt_Params WHERE RptID = 5)
SELECT tblEData.Timestamp As [TimeStamp], LTRIM(RTrim([ResultsCustName])) AS CustName, LTRIM(RTrim([ResultsPH])) AS Phone, Status As [Status], FaxContact AS FaxContact, ResultsPKey As ResultsKey INTO tmpE_Callbacks FROM tblEData LEFT JOIN tblContact ON tblEData.RetailerPrefix = tblContact.Prefix WHERE tblEData.Timestamp BETWEEN @Start_Date And @End_Date AND FaxContact Like '%@FaxContact%'
I am new to writing sprocs so forgive me if this is trivial. I am selecting fields from a table and placing them into a temp table in row format. (Row 1 in temp table is the first row in a file that will be created using DTS package). My question is: How can a format a field that I have selected that only has, say 3 chars, into a value of 5. Ex: field in DB = aaa I need to format it as: 2 spaces + aaa
But the length of the value will be varying from record to record.
I need to get the Bacup of my SQl 2000 database but i need only last 100 records of all tables in my database. or i want to create new database from existing , schama is same but i need to import only 1000 record from all tables
