I have a seach on UserID enetred in a textbox by user.
When the user types a userID which has no data in the database can I display an error msg instead of the chart and table that is displayed on entering a valid userID.
HelloI'm using FromView to Insert record into a DB. My SP checks for the existence and returns -1 if record already exists. I know that my SP returns -1 but how do I capture that into FormView and display error message to the user? All I get is the "Agreement was created" regardless of what SP returns.Your help is appreciated.MarkHere is the code I'm using:Protected Sub OnInserted(sender As Object, e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSourceStatusEventArgs) Dim retValParam As New SqlParameter("@RETURN_VALUE", SqlDbType.Int) retValParam.Direction = ParameterDirection.ReturnValue Dim valParam As Integer = Convert.ToInt32(retValParam.Value) If valParam = -1 Then lblMessage.Text = "The Account ID is not valid" Else if valParam = -2 then lblMessage.Text = "Agreement ID already exists" else lblMessage.Text = "Agreement was created" End If end if End Suband parts of ASPX page with FromView: InsertCommand="spNew_Agreement" OnInserted="OnInserted"> <FilterParameters> <asp:ControlParameter Name="Acct_Name" ControlID="txtAcct_Name" /> </FilterParameters> <InsertParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="acct_id" Type="string" /> <asp:Parameter Name="agreement_id" Type="string" /> <asp:Parameter Name="return_value" Type="int32" Direction="ReturnValue" /> </InsertParameters>
SELECT T1.lnumber AS LOT_Number,(T2.time_out - T1.time_in) AS Duration, ((DATEPART (hour, (T2.time_out-T1.time_in)) *60) + DATEPART (minute, (T2.time_out-T1.time_in))) AS Minutes, COUNT(DISTINCT T2.test_desc) AS Number_of_Process
FROM Results AS T1 JOIN Results AS T2 ON T1.lnumber = T2.lnumber
WHERE T2.test_desc = 'Shipping' AND T1.test_desc = 'Receiving'
I have an error message that says:
Msg 8120, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 Column 'Results.lnumber' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause.
If I take this line out: COUNT(DISTINCT T2.test_desc) AS Number_of_Process The query runs ok.
Also if I run [COUNT(DISTINCT T2.test_desc) AS Number_of_Process] in:
SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT T2.test_desc) AS Number_of_Process, T2.lnumber AS Lot_number FROM Results AS T1 JOIN Results AS T2 ON T1.lnumber = T2.lnumber GROUP BY T2.lnumber
It will also give me result. Please help.... Thanks for your time
The fun thing is that I'm running into a circumstance where one SQL statement that works in Visual Studio accessing the same database works, but then I try to use the same statement in Microsoft Query (running to Excel) and it refuses to admit its a valid statement.
The SQL statement I'm using is this.
SELECT MLNumber, StreetNumber, StreetName, StreetDirection, ListingOfficeMLSID, Status, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, City FROM "data: Property:RESI" WHERE (ListingOfficeMLSID = '550000020' OR ListingOfficeMLSID = '550001760') AND (MLNumber > 1) AND (City = "Boiling Spring Lakes")
This works fine inside of VS 2005.
The same statement used within Microsoft Query returns this error message.
SQL SYNTAX ERROR - Unexpected char: '?'
Working with the people that work with that database regularly, they say that I need to write a METADATA-LOOKUPTYPE call that should tell me how the City name 'Boiling Spring Lakes' is actually formatted.
I, of course, have no clue how to do that. But my thought is, if it works in VS2005 and returns a valid result, why does the same SQL statement return an error message through Excel?
I execute a script that someone else wrote and I get Query Completed with Errors but there is not an error message. If I highlight and execute parts of the script, it completes successfully.
I wrote a data mining plug-in algorithm in SSAS and now I am trying to view the lift chart in Management Studio. The studio gives the following error:
"The Data Mining Query builder control cannot be initialized due to the following problem: Deserialization failed: Multiple definition of element 'Column12' causes the content model to become ambigious. A content model must be formed such that during validation of an element information item sequence, the particle contained directly, indirectly or implicitly therein with which to attempt to validate each item in the sequence in turn can be uniquely determined without examining the content or attributes of that item, and without any information about the items in the remainder of the sequence."
I really do not understand what i did wrong. Can anybody help me?
I have an error message I was wondering if anyone else has seen and resolved. When I open excel and click on the query wizard on the Data Mining Ribbon, I get an error message that says "Input String not in Correct Format"
After I close this dialog box the 'Welcome to Query .... ' wizard will open, but when I select the Advance button my process aborts due to the input string error.
I have only ran association models on the computer.
The Manage Models and Browse buttons work fine.
The error came up on Friday, but it wasn't there on Thursday. There were no changes done to the machine (no installation of new software).
I have tried reinstalling the add-in.
Thank you all for your help,
Davy
I have pasted the SQL syntax below that I get from the error dialog box after the query wizard closes.
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I have the same question and error that Chopaka is getting:
"I have a SQL 2005 job that calls a stored proc. The job step returns the message "Query timeout expired....Message 7412...The step succeeded." The proc never actually ever did anything due to the query timeout, and the job continued on to other steps. I'm going to address the timeout issue eventually, but first I'd like to trap the timeout problem and force the job to end.
It appears that the query timeout isn't really an error, just a message. I've tried TRY-CATCH in the SP but the situation isn't caught, again probably due to the interpretation that it isn't an error."
I have reduced the "Remote Query time out" to 1 sec, in order to catch the error and to prevent the job from running, but the error is not caught.
Is there a way to catch this in the SQL or in the job step to prevent the job from continuing?
This is the script that I'm using without any luck BEGIN TRY BEGIN Transaction Create table #tmpSummaryTable ( ) insert into #tmpSummaryTable select * from CDRServer01.iXtemp.dbo.gx_tbFTRSummary_test

I am trying to run a query on my sql server and get the following error message: Â "An error occurred while executing batch. Error message is: The directory name is invalid." Â how do I fix?
I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:
[File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Access to the path '\gracehbtest oS2TMM_Live_Title_000002.xml' is denied.".
I'm trying to use an XML Task to do a simple XSLT operation, but it fails with this error message:
[XML Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "There are multiple root elements. Line 5, position 2.".
The source XML file validates fine and I've successfully used it as the XML Source in a data flow task to load some SQL Server tables. It has very few line breaks, so the first 5 lines are pretty long: almost 4000 characters, including 34 start-tags, 19 end-tags, and 2 empty element tags. Here's the very beginning of it:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ESDU releaselevel="2006-02" createdate="26 May 2006"><package id="1" title="_standard" shorttitle="_standard" filename="pk_stan" supplementdate="01/05/2005" supplementlevel="1"><abstract><![CDATA[This package contains the standard ESDU Series.]]></abstract>
There is only 1 ESDU root element and only 1 package element.
Of course, the XSLT stylesheet is also an XML document in its own right. I specify it directly in the XML Task:
Hi all! I´m getting a very unpleasant result when I use "SELECT * FROM <many-columns-table (40+)>". Each query row appears with overwritten columns (not all but some of them)... also outside EM window !!! There is no data corruption on EM nor Windows, all programs remains running with no other sign but garbage overwritten... garbage dissapears after window refreshing. Just 1 month ago I made a 2-day full reinstall of my computer, so I don´t know what program could install an offending module/DLL/??? buy I´m sure it was working before. I hate that! Have you ever noticed something like that? Do you think is a DLL problem? Do you know a turn around? (I don´t want to reinstall all again!!!) Actually I´ve tried reinstalling SP4, SP5 on WS, uninstalling/reinstalling Client with no luck... Thanks, Cesar.
I created the following simple query between two tables:
SELECT vru.User_Name0, vru.Full_User_Name0, vru.department0, vru.employeeNumber0, vru.title0, vru.manager0, vrs.location0, vrs.Netbios_Name0, vrs.Last_Logon_Timestamp0 FROM v_R_User vru LEFT JOIN v_R_System vrs ON vru.ResourceID = vrs.ResourceID ORDER BY vrs.User_Name0
I don't know how to properly insert a pic, but basically I get output, except the last 3 columns. I've tried every variation of JOIN and I cannot seem to solve this issue.
I have a flat text file. All the columns are set to redirect on error. But, when I set it to row, it gives the error column, ErrColumn. Is there a way to display the real column name-the column which has the error. Thanks.
Hye Friends, I'm using a DMX query to get some predictions out of my MiningModel
my DMX query is as follows :
SELECT predict([x SalaryPredictor].[Emp Gross],20),predict([x SalaryPredictor].[Emp Basic],20) From [x SalaryPredictor]
This query is returning me 2 objects of type expressions in my Dataset. The problem is when I try to drag these 2 fields in my Table i get a "#Error" value
I executed the query in 'Data' tab and found that data is getting returned is a tree like format where "Expression" is at top & values expected ar its child nodes.
I also found out that the returned objects are actually AdomdDataReader , but i'm not able to write a expression to get its values in my tables....
I want to display the values in the following format....
Is there a way to create an expression that references the DataSets / Queries? I'd like to be able to create an expandable text box that shows the raw sql query used to generate the report.
I have the emplyID and Typeof time as a PK. When the user enters a duplicate value it just gives them the error page. Can i set a label or something to notify the user of the error instead of the error page?
note: according to the product documentation parameterized queries should preview just fine. reference: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms139904.aspx
i have an OLE DB Source Data access mode: SQL command i began with a simple query, and it previews just fine
i have an existing user variable in my package. its being referenced successfully by an intial "execute sql task" i have. i then replace the where conditions with parameters. i click on "parameters..." and map the parameters to my variables. i click preview and an error appears.
the error message is...
There was an error displaying the preview Additional information: no value given for one or more required parameters. (Microsoft SQL Native Client)
I've got a union query (below)and it returns rows that have duplivate itemno's, descrip's, imsrp3's, and imsrp4's, while the remaining columns are not duplicate for the same row. An Excel report uses this query to populate itself and for a more visually appealing look, I'd like to skip the duplicated columns in the display. I'm not sure how to use the Distinct or Group by in this case, since technically I'm dealing with two separate queries, neither one separately returning any duplicate rows. thanks for any suggestions...
~ select itemno,descrip,imsrp3,imsrp4,qoh,border,wadcto,wad oco, watrdj,wapddj,wauorg,wauser from nowo where nowo.wasrst <='40' union select itemno,descrip,imsrp3,imsrp4,qoh,border,wadcto,wad oco, watrdj,wapddj,wauorg,wauser from nopo where nopo.wasrst <='499'
I have a query where I have customers, date they ordered a swatch, date they ordered an item, and eh date diff between the two. I want to show the MIN date diff for each customer, and also show the swatch date and item date as well. But to use the MIN aggregate, it forces me to group everything, where I just want to group by customer, and have the 2 dates tag along, because i only want one record per customer. What is the easiest way for me to accomplish this?
I have a problem... I have a SELECT query I have used in my PHP report. It is as follows:
SELECT DISTINCT callref, CASE WHEN (stage.due_date < stage.completed_date) THEN 'SLA Breach' ELSE ' In SLA' END AS sla FROM tableX.... WHERE call_status=open.....
I wish to search through all stages (i.e response, fix, end) of the calls logged in our database, & then return 'In SLA' for each call that had all its stages completed within the SLA, & 'Breach' for all calls that had even one of its stages completed outside its SLA.
At the moment the SELECT query above gives me the following results:
Call Ref sla
10001 In SLA 10002 Breach 10002 In SLA 10003 In SLA 10004 In SLA 10005 Breach 10005 In SLA ... ...
What it should look like is this....
Call Ref sla
10001 In SLA 10002 Breach 10003 In SLA 10004 In SLA 10005 Breach ... ...
Please let me know if anyone has the answers or any clues to this! thanks.
The row counts I am getting from SQL Enterprise Manager and QueryAnalyzer are different. When I double click a table in EnterpriseManager it gives me a row count of say 1000. However, when I select *from that same table in Query Analyzer it returns 1028 rows. Anyoneknow why or better yet, how to fix it? Thanks!
I've got a SQL2008 database with 2008R2 Express loaded.
In VS2012 if I right click a table and select New Query, I get the Visual Designer.
In VS2013, same database, I get a blank page
I've tried a fresh install of 2012 and 2013 onto a fresh Win8.1, same thing. SQL2012 Express, same. If I use an LocalDB option, again no tools. I've tried Ultimate to see if it's something not in Pro.
Also the "code only" query doesn't connect me to the file properly, so even if I accept doing the query by hand, I have to paste a connection string every time.
I'm expecting it to do as per VS2012, and the VS2013 pages in [URL] My database is an attached file from an ASP.NET project App_Data folder.
My apologies...I wasn't for sure where to post an error like this...
Over the last 2 months I have gotten this SQL Server error (twice). All existing processes will continue to work, however no new processes can be created and users cannot connect to the server. This is the exact text of the message in the SQL Server error log.

While we can typically just stop SQL Server Service and restart the services...I have found it is best to restart the machine during non-production times to take care of any 'residual' effects of this error.
The SQL Server 2000 SP4 box with Windows 2003 Standard SP1 is well maintained by our I.T. team and it typically will run 4 or 5 months without a reboot.
Hi, I have developed a website in asp.net 2. I have tester it and it is working fine on my computer but when I have uploaded it to my server I'm getting an error message when the user signup. The error occurs when I'm setting the user role to 'members'.
Error line > Roles.AddUserToRole(user.UserName, "members")
The strage thig is that it is working on my computer but not on the server. My home computer and the server are running the same software versions and the website database is the same as well.
To double check that my code is not generating the error I have lonched 'SQL Query Analizer' and executed the folowing code on my database: NOTE: In my database I have create the user “teeluk12 and a role “members
Trying to connect to remote server croaktoad.simpli.biz I have SQL 2005 Developer on XP SP2 , I have disabled my windows firewall. I can ping to my server (croaktoad.simpli.biz) and i get no error message. My remote connection using both TCP/IP and named pipes are checkeed. My SQL Server Browser is running as well.
However when I try to connect using Managment Studio or running SQLCMD /Scroaktoad. simpli.biz /E I get the following error message

So I've read all the forums for past 2 days and tried everything, nothing changed Any ideas?
Our Visual Studio installation suddenly starting producing the error below upon trying to open any .dtsx package; although by "suddenly" I'm sure it was due to some Windows update or other program install, update, or uninstall. I've spent two days uninstalling, reinstalling, and repairing everything that is seemingly related to VS, but no luck. I've searched the forums and could not find this specific error mentioned, although I have tried some of the suggestions to fix possibly related 'class not registered' errors, but again no luck.

Hi all, We are displaying an SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services report in our ASP.NET 1.1 application by accessing the report through URL and embedding the same in an iframe HTML web control. The user can export the report contents into CSV format by making use of the export functionality provided by Reporting Services. Now we have been asked to display a warning mesage to the user when the no. of records in the report exceeds 1 million i.e. if the no. of records in the report exceeds 1 million and the user tries to export the report to CSV format by clicking on the "Exprot" link button, we need to display a warning message to the user. My doubt is whether this can be done in Reporting Services. Are there any programmatic interfaces exposed by Reporting Services which might help us implement this requirement ?
