I have to export data from SQL Server 2005 express to Access database. I have done many import/export using DTS package via SQL 2000. I don't have BI installed in my SQL SERVER 2005 Express. I understand that I have to use SSIS for sql server 2005. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am exporting 350 tables data from SQL Server 2005 to Access 2003.and getting the below error.

Our company is planning to upgrade to ESRI's brand new ArcSDE Personal edition and SQL Server Express 2005 platform to do GIS work for our clients. We are not in a position at this time to migrate to the full ArcGIS Server and SQL Server 2005 platform. We currently use a Microsoft Access 2003 relational database, and have no intention to move to Access 2007.
ArcSDE Personal cannot connect to SQL Server 2005, but it is able to connect and work with SQL Server Express 2005.
In SQL Management Studio Express, we were unable to find any feature that would allow us to import and export data to/from SQL Server Express. This is rather unusual, as we need to test how SQL Server Express will handle import and export data. In Microsoft Access we simply right click and choose import or export in the database window. Easy as pie. We ran the upsize wizard in Microsoft Access to migrate our data. But after that, our GIS team was pretty much stuck.
My question is, how does one import/export data to/from SQL Server Express? Do we need to install a missing component? Is scripting required? Or should we wait until we are able to acquire the SQL Server 2005?

After some weeks evaluating tools and platforms for developing an application, I decided to move to SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. Everything was fine till last night, when after creating my tables, I needed to populate them. I tried to find the Import and Export Data Wizard that SQL Server 7.0 and 2000 used to have, but great was my surprise when I found - in this forum - a post that said that it's not available in the Express Edition.
I'll have to move back in time (what I hate) to remember the way BCP worked. Can somebody post some examples to not start from zero ? Does anybody know a third party visual tool that can import/export data from text files to a SQL Server DB via ODBC ?
What's the reason it was not included in the EE ?

I'm trying to learn some VB programming with the VB 2005 Express Absolute Beginner Series video tutorials (which I think is great) and have come across a problem that I can't solve.
When I follow the instructions in Lesson 9 (Databinding Data to User Interface Controls) my application will display the data from the database correctly and I can edit it (and as long as the debugger is running the data remains changed). However, the changes won't propagate back to the database. I don't get any error messages but after I edit the data, save (with the save button on the BindingNavigator toolbar), and end debugging the data in my database remains unchanged. When I use a MessageBox to show how many rows where edited/updated in the
Me.myTableTableAdapter.Update(Me.myDatabaseDataSet.myTable)
I get the correct number back. I'm sure the problem is not due to coding errors since I've also tried running the accompanying Lesson 9 project file that can be downloaded from MSDN and the problem persists.
I'm using Windows XP SP2, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and VB 2005 Express Edition. I've tried installing SQL Server 2005 Express with a number of different settings, including default settings, but it doesn't make any difference.
Would greatly appreciate any feedback on this as I'm keen to resolve this problem so I can get on with the next tutorial lesson.

I understand you can do this with DTS, but the Express edition seems not have DTS.

I want to use SQL Server to query an Access Database with about 40,000 rows of data. If possible, I don't want to upsize the database because others need acess to it in the ACC97 format. Is there a way to use ODBC to connect to the ACC97 database so that I can use the SQL query capability of SQL server to query the database.

I found the DTS export wizard helpful in that it makes light work of the numerous lookup tables, but I am looking for suggestions as to how best to export the 8+ data tables?
In my prototype I currently use a DTS package to export the full contents of each data table but I need to get it to filter the export of each by two parameters. I tried to use the DTS package global variable approach but although this works with a simple query, I appear to need to use nested queries to identify which table rows to include in the export (at which point DTS seems to give up).
I played around with the linked server functionality today but I don't see how that can help me. I was only able to execute a query on the MS Access database. I was hoping to maybe be able to do a "select * into <table_name> where ... " from MS SQL Server to MS Access.
I also tried editing the DTS package to call a user defined function (UDF) but DTS didn't seem to want to let me pass parameters via global variables. It only worked if I hard-coded the parameters which would not be satisfactory.
Should I be looking at doing it via OleDbConnection in VB.NET?

I would rather use insert to confirm that my second problem is not because I am using the wrong option.My question is:Should I be able to use the insert function within VWD express or is this only available within the standard/pro editions?

If possible, can you give me an example?If I have to write a tool myself I guess I would do something like this: Export - Query the database for columns and datatype for the requested table. Dynamically generate a query to retrieve all rows from the table and save it to an xml file. Import - Turn off the Identity Increment, loop through the xml file and generate insert queries to insert a clone of each row, turn off the Identity Increment. Viola! HiI am using SQL Server Management Studio Express to make my databases but I noticed if I make my database in Visual studios and go new Item and make a new database I see it in app_data folder and server express tab and if I make it in SQL Server Management Studio Express I only see it in the server explorer. So if I have to move my files to another computer how do I move my database easly with SQL Server Management Studio Express? Since when you make it with the visual studio the file gets stored with all the other files of your project so if you move it all to another computer you prob won't run into a problem. So how do I make it that so I can do everything in SQL Server Management Studio Express(since I like working in it) then export it into a file that I can then go into my app_data folder and add it is an exist item? I've created a new database and restored the database from a backup. I'm wanting to import raw data from an excel spreadsheet into the tables of the new database.
When I right click on the database, and hover over tasks the import/ export data menu options are not in the menu.The menu items ends at 'Generate Scripts'.

i have a website project making an online catalog, maybe 20 categories, a few hundred items. the small business starter kit looked perfect to jump start this. the client has provided an access database with the two table for categories and products. i've got the dts wizard installed and have been trying to import the access data into the sbsk database but i'm stuck. i'm almost positive that ONE time when i was banging around with the dts wizard, the Edit Mapping screen would let me drop down a list of fields in the destination table so I could actually tell it which field data from the source i wanted to go into which field of the destination. Of course it didn't succeed that time and now i can't seem to figure a way to get back to having the option to choose the destination fields, all it gives me in the drop down is "<ignore>" or the field name of the source table, which of course doesn't match any of the ones that are in the sbsk.
i've been back through it for a couple days, trying different ways, migrating the data first to sql, letting it try a transfer to a new table then trying to import that, moving both out to excel, aligning the data manually and trying to import that, etc. i'm bout out of ideas and would sure like to get back to just trying to work out the data type alignment issues with whatever it was i did when i could choose the destination table's fields.
i'd be most appreciative if anyone has a clue what i'm talking about and can put me back on track.

I understand from 1and1.com that I will need to imort a backup of my SQL Server 2005 Express file to my on site database. I don't find any way to do that. I'm trying to export a SQL Server 2005 Express database to SQL Server 2000 sp4, but have so far been unsuccessful. SQL 2005 Express doesn't have an Export Data function and backup/restore doesn't work because of the different versions.

I am using the following query to export data from sql server to ms access in export data wizard:
SELECT * FROM myView where myID = 123
Order by varcharColumnName1,varcharColumnName2 ,intColumnName3
This query will fetch about 7, 00,000 records.
SQL server 2005 shows the correct order, but Data in access table shows Incorrect data.
