How to check if ftp/sftp server is running before actually starting the ftp/sftp taks? I tried the script task as shown in the attached link but it does not really check for ftp connection.
I am skilled Oracle DBA and recently started to support MS SQL Server 2000
.
For all my Oracle DBs I run "Watch Dog" script that test if database ( server for MS SQL Server) is up and running and send me message on pager or by E-mail if it is down.
I have a stored procedure that references another stored procedure on a linked server. I would like to check if the linked server is running prior to accessing the stored procedure. Everything I have tried returns either message 11 or 17 and terminates the stored procedure. I would like to do some cleanup before the termination. Is there any way to check this?
I have my SQL server installed and running on a windows 2003 server. Sometimes, the server stops unexpectedly. I want to know if there is any mechanism to alert as and when the SQL server or SQL server agent goes down.
I guess everything is a windows service. Can we have a mechanism to test this service from a script and send an alert mail when the server goes down? How can this be done from a script?
I am about designing an access project file that connect to a SQL Server database : it could be either on the local computer or a remote workstation, this depending on where the front end is running.
Bypassing the default log on dialog box i have set my own form that users should use to connect on adp. Then using baseconnection string i connect the adp to sql server database.
My concern is how can i check from vba if the instance of SQL Server where my back end database is located is running in order to make users knowing that due sql server service status off their connection tentative will fail.
inform u i can check same from console management however i would to automate same controle from my adp and avoid that users have to operate such task...
When i have multiple sql server instances running on one server, how to check the names of that instances with out connecting to sql server management studio.
Hello Gurus I am using sql 2005 and one job status is executing in job monitor in 2005,How can i check since how long this job is running? Please advice
I have a long running procedure (batch job) which will take quite some time to complete. I need to run a fixed number (configurable value) of copies simultaneously, i.e., either two copies or three copies at a time. (I don't want to use Service Broker for this purporse now)
For this I need to know whether this procedure is currenly being executed, and how many copies. Now I'm maintaing a flag in a table where this will get updated once the procedure starts and ends. This is not 100% reliable and need a manual check occasionally.
I would like to know, whether there is an easier method to find whether this procedure is being executed currently ?
I would like to now how can I check if a specific package is running now, at the moment.
the reason I need it is because I enable in a web page to run ssis package using web servise. I would like to be sure that no more than 1 person is starting the package until it completes.
I need to start a job task from the command line. Does anyone know of the correct command(s) to do this?
I also need to check to see if a specific job task is currently executing from the command line. Does anyone know of the correct command(s) to do this?
what i need to do is loop through a table and get username and password for the sftp connection. The problem is that i cant set the sftp connections password with expression. I can change the SSH User and port and other settings too. The reason that i cant set the password is that it doesnt appear on the expressions menu.
Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it ?
Can i use script task to set the password to the sftp task at run time ? This would be great because in the future i have to connect to the same server with many different users (possibly dozens or hundreds of users).
We have SQL Server 2012 running on Windows 2008 Server. We would like to use a SSIS Package to generate a text file and then secure copy it to a vendor's ftp site. Would it be best to use an FTP Task or Execute Process Task (to call the batch file)? Would I need to install some software like winscp or does the Windows O/S has some secure copy or ftp programs that may be used?
I want to connect to SFTP server and download files using SSIS. I know ssis doesn't support sftp connection. I was told i can use putty to do the job(I dont want third party components).
Is it possible you guyz show me how to do this, using a tutorial or how to create the batch file and call it in ssis package.
How to load files with similar format , from two different locations into same database with same ssis.
Lets say Location 1: C:LoadFilesCust1APP_123445.txt Location 2: D:LoadFilescust2VDD_543121.txt
Currently we have one ssis which loads and process files from C:LoadFilesCust1 only. we have to modify the existing package it to load files from Location 2 (D:LoadFilescust2) as well. Also while loading, the ssis should assign a value to existing column CustID depending upon the file name. File names always start with APP_ in first location. VDD_ in second location
Assign CUSTID as 100 if file name starts with APP_ Assign CUSTID as 200if file name starts with VDD_
We are using SSIS 2014 and need to download files from sftp. Is there a SFTP control flow task for SSIS 2014? If not then what other options do I have?

If you guys any solution for this please let me know. I was wondering could this be a scale-out deployment issue ?
I also get the error when setting up the DataBase Setup : Although saving the database connection info succeeded the The report server cannot access internal info about this deployment to determine whetherthe current con fig is valid for this editionThis could be a scale-out deployment and that the feature is not supported by this editionTo continue use a diff report server database or remove the encription keys

In my environment, there is maintenance plan configured on one of the server and while running DBCC checkdb on a database of size around 200GB, log file usage of tempdb is increasing and causing the maintenance job to fail.
What can I do to make the maintenance job run successfully, size of the tempdb database is only 50GB and recovery model is set to simple. It cannot be increased as the mount point on which it is residing is 50GB.
If I start a long running query running on a background thread is there a way to abort the query so that it does not continue running on SQL server?
The query would be running on SQL Server 2005 from a Windows form application using the Background worker component. So the query would have been started from the background workers DoWork event using ado.net. If the user clicks an abort button in the UI I would want the query to die so that it does not continue to use sql server resources.
One of my stored procs, taking one parameter, is running about 2+ minutes. But if I run the same script in the stored proc with the same parameter hardcoded, the query only runs in a couple of seconds. The execution plans are different as well. Any reason why this could happen? TIA.
