It may not have date records which are just string like in this example is 12345678900. I need a SQL script which can identify those records which are not of date type. Please help.
I need to pass in null/blank value in the date field or declare the field as string and convert date back to string.
I tried the 2nd option but I am having trouble converting the two digits of the recordset (rs_get_msp_info(2), 1, 2))) into a four digit yr. But it will only the yr in two digits. The mfg_start_date is delcared as a string variable
option 1 I will have to declare the mfg_start_date as date but I need to send in a blank value for this variable in the stored procedure. It won't accept a null or blank value.
I am running a converted DTS package which executes a stored procedure which extracts fields from a SQL database table and puts them to a flat file. Two of the fields are datetime fields. The stored procedure does not convert the dates, and under SQL 2000 DTS the fields extract as strings in format yyyy-mm-dd hh:mms. When this gave me an error in SSIS, I added a data conversion task between the Ole DB Source and the Text file destination to convert the two fields to DT_STR format and used the converted fields in my mapping for the text file. I am still getting an error on this:
-1071636319,0x,Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "mm_hdr_process_date" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page."
The target code page is 1252 (ANSI) and I have tried several variations of length, and I still get this error. Any suggestions? I would prefer not to have to change every stored procedure we have which may do this. Thanks for any help. MaryKate
i am trying to search an SQL database to retrieve all names from employee table who have a birthday today. this needs to automatically fill in the date parameter with the system date. this is what i have so far:
sub page_load(sender as object, e as eventargs) dtmDate=DateTime.Now.ToString("M") con = New SqlConnection("Server=Localhost;UID=******;PWD=*****;Database=Pubs")
cmd = New SqlCommand("Select fname, lname From Employee where dob='& dtmDate'", con)
I know this isnt quite right. i get errors when it hits my repeater.
the error i am getting is :Syntax error converting string to smalldatetime data type. if someone could give me a push in the right direction here it would be greatly appreciated.
We are using lookup transformation in SSIS 2012. The lookup transformation queries a table with two date columns. When we hover the mouse over the two columns in the 'columns' tab of the lookup transformation editor, the two columns show as DT_WSTR instead of DT_DBDATE. This causes the SSIS package to fail due to data type mismatch.A similar abandoned thread is available at: URL....
In a job of migrating from an old database to a new one (with other structure, other server, other version) i'm copying from the source old tables and inserting into the new destination tables. The problem is that some records have inconsistencies (of any kind) and thus are not inserted due to foreign key, not null, etc validation. When a problem occurs none record is copied! and there is my question: How can i perform the copy in wich it copies the good records (without inconsistencies) and leave aside the bad records. I also want to know wich were not copied and better if in the copy process those were put in a temp table or exported to excel for further analisys o its data.
I'm using this model of "migration":
BEGIN TRY
INSERT INTO DESTINTATION_TABLE ( col_d1, col_d2, col-d3, ...)
SELECT col_s1, dbo.some_function(col_s2), col_s3 * 100, ... FROM SOURCE_TABLE join <other_table> ... where <some filters>
END TRY
BEGIN CATCH print ERROR_MESSAGE() END CATCH
(for now, with try/catch I've only get to know the error occurred, if some)
What I need to do is to calculate the Average time in the subtotals of a matrix containing max-time values.
Amount last sold at
Item A 5 18:00
Item B 10 19:00
Total 15 18:30
In my understandig I have to create a function that counts all max-time values and calculates their average. The return value would depend on the filed-type. If it´s a normal field, the max-time value would be returned, else the calculated average. My first problem is to figure out, if the actual filed is a normal or a subtotal field.
I'm using MS SQL Server 2008 and I'm trying to figure out if it is possible to identify what tables / columns contain specific records.
In the example below information generated for the end user, so the column headers (Customer ID, Customer, Address, Phone, Email, Account Balance, Currency) are not necessarily the field names from the relevant tables, they are simply more identifiable headers for the user.
Customer ID CustomerAddress Phone Email Account Balance Currency js0001 John Smith123 Nowhere Street555-123-456 jsmith@nowhere.com-100 USD jd2345 Jane Doe 61a Down the road087-963258 jdoe@downthe road.com-2108 GBP mx9999 Mr X Whoknowsville 147-852369 mrx@whoknows.com0 EUR
In reality the column headers may be called eg (CustID, CustName, CustAdr, CustPh, CustMail, CustACBal, Currency).
As I am not the generator of this report, I would like to know whether or not it is possible to identify the field names and / or what tables they exist in, if I were to used the report info to search for it. For example, could I perhaps find out the field name and table for "jd2345" or for "mrx@whoknows.com", because the Customer ID or Email may not be what the actual fields are called.
I'm not a DB admin and I don't have rights to do a stored procedure on the server. I'm guessing what I want is not so simple to do, but is it possible to do via a query?
How to identify different fields with in a group of records?
Example: create table #test (ID int, Text varchar(10)) insert into #test select 1, 'ab' union all select 1, 'ab'
[Code] ...
I want to show additional field as Matched as ID 1 has same Text field on both the records, and for the ID 2 I want to show Unmatched as the Text fields are different but with the same ID.
I have a query that will generate records monthly based on the number of months that i calculate between two date feilds for a given requestid. How can i use the same query to generate records for weekly and bi weekly based on the receiveddate field that i use in the subtraction for calculating the number of months.
Also when inserting i have been adding a month for every record as i was generating monthly and now i would have to add week and 2 weeks to the receiveddate
SET NOCOUNT ON GO declare @num_of_times int declare @count int declare @frequency varchar(10) declare @num_of_times1 int
I used to rely heavily on the sysobjects.crdate under mssql 6.5 to identify the last time an object was updated (primarily sprocs, but also tables and views). With the Sql7 Alter command, there doesn't seem to be any easy way to tell the last time an object was changed. Is this data stored out on any of the system tables/information views?
I have a table with multiple rows per staff person. Each of these rows has staff_id, start_date, and end_date. Per staff, if any start_date comes between the start_date and end_date of a different row, or if any end_date comes between the start_date and end_date of a different row, then I have to flag these records as being identical.Â
How can I do this? I have tried doing a Cross Apply because I thought that would do Cartesian product (comparing every row), and I've also tried temp tables. But I haven't gotten either of these to work. Here is some dummy data:
if exists (select * from tempdb.dbo.sysobjects o where o.xtype in ('U') and o.id = object_id(N'tempdb..#staff_records') ) DROP TABLE #staff_records; create table #staff_records ( staff_id varchar(max),
I would like to display the most recent seasonal address on my report. Here is the scenario,
I can search the SSMS and identify all available addresses. the recent sometimes appear at the top, in middle or at the bottom of the address list.I used a stored PROC to and a tempdb to find the initial search of all the addressesThen I used top 1 to select the address that I'm looking for. For situation where I have multiple addresses, is there a way to identify the latest address using FIRST and date commands.
I'm looking for a way of taking a query which returns a set of date time fields (probable maximum of 20 rows) and looping through each value to see if it exists in a separate table.
E.g.
Query 1
Select ID, Person, ProposedEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyOptions where person = 'me'
Table
Select Person, ExistingEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyTimetable where person ='me'
Loop through Query 1 and if it finds ANY matching Dayfield AND Timefield in Query/Table 2, return the ProposedEvent (just as a message, the loop could stop there), if no match a message saying all is fine can proceed to process form blah blah.
I'm essentially wanting somebody to select a bunch of events in a form, query 1 then finds all the days and times those events happen and check that none of them exist in the MyTimetable table.
We have some URLs within a bulk block of text some of which are very long. I need to identify rows where such urls exceed say 100 characters in length in amongst other text.So the rule would be return a record if within the string there is a string (without spaces) longer than 100 characters.
I am trying to drag data from Informix to Sql Server. When I kick off the package using an OLE DB Source and a SQL Server Destination, I get DT_DBDATE to DT_DBTIMESTAMP errors on two fields from Informix which are date data ....no timestamp part
I tried a couple of things:
Created a view of the Informix table where I cast the date fields as datetime year to fraction(5), which failed.
Altered the view to convert the date fields to char(10) with the hopes that SQL Server would implicitly cast them as datetime but it failed.
I am trying to populate a field in a SQL table based on the valuesreturned from using substring on a text field.Example:Field Name = RecNumField Value = 024071023The 7th and 8th character of this number is the year. I am able toget those digits by saying substring(recnum,7,2) and I get '02'. Nowwhat I need to do is determine if this is >= 50 then concatenate a'19' to the front of it or if it is less that '50' concatenate a '20'.This particular example should return '2002'. Then I want to take theresult of this and populate a field called TaxYear.Any help would be greatly apprecaietd.Mark
I asked this question below, but the answer was that the conversion will take place automatically, but I can't get that to happen. I have a flat file with an 8 position field that I identify as string (and I also tried date) that is yyyymmdd and it needs to go into the database field that is datetime format. IS there something I am doing wrong with the definition of it, or do I need to add some kind of conversion, and if so, what and how would that be done. I'm a dts Sql2000 expert, but the SSIS thing is driving me crazy. I have a ton of dts' to convert and the migration tool doesn't work because there are a lot of active X scripts in them. thanks for your help. Boston Rose
as you can see, the records have a 30minutes time interval. i need to create a query to know if there are missing records in the table. so basically the result should be this:
Hi there. I'm trying to extract data from my SQL server & everything in the script I've got is working (extracting correct data) except for one field - which is for the most part it's off by +2 days (on a few occasions - I see it off by just +1 day or even +3, but it's usually the +2 days).
I'm told that it's due to the conversion formula - but - since SQL is not my native language, I'm at a bit of a loss.
The DB table has the date field stored as a type: CHAR (as opposed to 'DATE') Can anyone out there help?
Link ( GroupID int , MemberID int ) Member ( MemberID int , MemberName varchar(50), GroupID varchar(255) )
The Link table contains the records showing which Member is in which Group. One particular Member can be in multiple Groups and also a particular Group may have multiple Members.
The Member table contains the Member's ID, Member's Name, and a Group ID field (that will contains comma-separated Groups ID, showing in which Groups the particular Member is in).
We have the Link table ready, and the Member table' with first two fields is also ready. What we have to do now is to fill the GroupID field of the Member table, from the Link Table.
For instance,
Read all the GroupID field from the Link table against a MemberID, make a comma-separated string of the GroupID, then update the GroupID field of the corresponding Member in the Member table.
Please help me with a sql query or procedures that will do this job. I am using SQL SERVER 2000.
Brand new to this, so please bear with me.I'm using the following code fragment to update a datetime field on a SQL Server 2005 database table:cmd.CommandText = "Update Projects Set EntryDate = " & Convert.ToDateTime(txtEntryDate.Text)cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()The result of the update operation is the the database field contains the value "1900-01-01 00:00:00:000". This probably means that I passed nulls to SQL; however, I see a valid date in the txtEntryDate field on my web form (i.e., "06/18/2007"). I also did a "Response.write" to display the txtEntryDate and it looks Okay. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!Using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express.
I'm writing a view to check record counts in a table that has numerous datasets and therefore various "Activity Dates". Is it possible as part of the SQL statement to have a CASE statement for example so that it can identify the field to use as the activity date?
The field to use is being identified using a seperate table so at the moment I have CASE WHEN FieldToUse = '2' THEN MapCol ELSE '[Activity_Date]' END, where FieldToUse = '2' identifies the date field to use and the MapCol data is the field name to be used as the activity date.
My requirement is to get the latest start date after a gap in a month for each id and if there is no gap for that particular id minimum date for that id should be taken….Given below the scenario
ID Â Â Â Â Â StartDate 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-01-01 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-02-01 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-05-01-------After Gap Restarted 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-06-01 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-09-01---------After last gap restarted 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-10-01 1 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-11-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-01-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â 2014-02-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-03-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-04-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-05-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-06-01 2 Â Â Â Â Â Â 2014-07-01
For Id 1 the start date after the latest gap is  2014-10-01 and for id=2 there is no gap so i need the minimum date  2014-01-01
My Expected Output id       Startdate 1        2014-10-01 2        2014-01-01
I am very new to using SQL. Our department usually uses Brio to query the various databases under our control. However, I have recently come against a problem that prompted me to create a custom SQL query which works well as far as it goes. My problem is looking for specific conditions in billing information I receive monthly. I would like to compare on of the date fields contained in the database with a field in the form of YYYYMM (200710, for October 2007) I have created a custom column generator that forms a date from the YYYYMM. I would like, however, do the translation on the fly and make the comparison during the query. The problem is that query without the date check returns a mass of data, only about 1 percent of which is what I want.
The beginning of the SQL query looks like this:
FROM From.T_Crs_Tran_Dtl WHERE T_Crs_Tran_Dtl.Crs_Bill_Yr_Mo IN ('200710', '200711', '200712') AND ((T_Crs_Tran_Dtl.Crs_Cde IN ('1G', '1V') AND (T_Crs_Tran_Dtl.Dptr_Dte < LastDay(ToDate(Substr ( Crs_Bill_Yr_Mo, 5, 2 )& "/1/"&Substr ( Crs_Bill_Yr_Mo, 1, 4 )))) AND (T_Crs_Tran_Dtl.Prev_Stats_Cde IN (' ', 'TK', 'TL') AND T_Crs_Tran_Dtl.Cur_Stats_Cde IN ('TK', 'TL') AND T_Crs_Tran_Dtl.Std_Tran_Typ_Cde='B') OR (T_Crs_Tran_Dtl.Prev_Stats_Cde='UN' AND T_Crs_Tran_Dtl.Cur_Stats_Cde='XX' AND€¦
It is the €œ(T_Crs_Tran_Dtl.Dptr_Dte < LastDay(ToDate(Substr ( Crs_Bill_Yr_Mo, 5, 2 )& "/1/"&Substr ( Crs_Bill_Yr_Mo, 1, 4 )))) AND€? part of the query that is just plain wrong. The business part of this statement takes the YYYYMM field and turns it into a date which is the last day of YYYYMM.
I hope someone out there can help me with making this comparison.
