Install Problems With Business Contact Manager 2007
Oct 17, 2007
I have tried a number of times to install BCM and it just does not want to reinstall and it tells me to look at log file. I cant understand what I am looking at in log file. This is a reinstall and there is very little help I can find. It does not even install SQl express?
We try to install Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 and get installation failed without any error. It simply refers to the log file. I have posted below the last 40 lines of this huge log file. The information in there are not vary help full since it refers to error codes that nobody seem to be able to explain. Now this is happening on 3 brand new dell computers running XP Pro. I would be happy for any assistance to either explain the error coded (if any MS guy is monitoring this) or maybe someone had a similar problem and could let me know some options on what I could try to get this resolved and my program installed.
I'm looking for a little help on a strange problem, used Business Contact Manager 2007 Database Tool to create a shared database in SQL Server 2005 on a server on the LAN, placed the database in the default instance of MSSQLSERVER then used the database tools to restore a 2003 BCM database to the newly created database in SQL. Everything worked as it should and I verified the database existed and was populated with data and all the permissions were set correctly to access the database. Then I loaded 2007 Business Contact Manager on a workstation on the LAN and attempted to use the wizard to connect to the remote database. I keep receiving errors that the database cannot be found. I have used the SQLCMD (Sqlcmd €“S €œtcp:erverNameinstanceName, portNumber€?) to verify access to the server and named instance and can connect with no problem, so it appears that would eliminate any firewall (which I turned off) problem or permission problem on the SQL Server. This is a connection between a Vista computer and a Server 2003 domain controller. DNS appears to work without a problem as a ping from the Vista machine by server name yields the correct IP. I have several databases running on the sequel server and have no problem accessing them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, i have created a database in business contact manager which is currently been used by five toher employees. I was trying to move that database to my server. Well I found this tool online called "Business contact manager 2007 database tool". I am trying to run it on the server but it is giving me a following error:
"Cannot retrive the list of SQL Server instances. Please make sure that SQL Server 2005 or SQL 2005 Express is installed and that the service is running."
I have SQL 2005 installed on my computer and I dont have any idea how to resolve this issue. It would be great if someone could help me.
I downloaded Business Contact Manager. With the download an SQL server is part of the download. When I rebooted my machine. The SQL server is not connected.
It's asking for:
Server Service
How is this process completed to operate correctly?
I previously installed Office 2007. I tried to install the Business Contact Manager (disk 2) and this error appeared.
Setup failed to install the required component Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (MSSMLBIZ). Microsoft Office Professional 2007 CD 2 cannot continue. See C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapLOGSummary.txt for more detail.
(The results are below) I am not extremely technical (I can follow clear directions) but have tried a couple of the options I have seen on this site, none of them worked. I took off encryption and compression, i uninstalled all SQL componets in add/remove hardware and domain was already in my regedit. PLEASE HELP.

I'm trying to install SharePoint 2007 and Reporting Services 2005 on the same server. However after installation Reporting Services will not load at http://localhost/Reports. Instead I get the following error:

I assume that something is wrong with my virtual server set up. I have the Default Web Site stopped and SharePoint (80) running and set Reports and ReportServer using the Report Configuration to SharePoint (80).
I can get to http://localhost/ReportServer but I get this error when running a report from there: Reporting Services Error
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help

Has anyone set these up on the same server? Is there a document around on how to set this up?
Windows 2003, Sahrepoint 2007, Report Services Addin (v9.00.3033) on one machine
Windows 2003, SQL Server 2005 SP2 CTP (v9.00.3033) on another.
When I install the Report Service addin on the Sharepoint machine, the install goes fine; however, when I go to the Application Management screen in Sharepoint Central Admin I don't see a "Reporting Services" section or a "Manage integration settings" link.

MSSQL 2005 Enterprise Edition version 9.00.3042.00 Windows 64 bit OS
I have started working on SQL server 2005 and realised that BIDS has not been installed, I tried to re-run setup again for integration services but I get an error saying that the version that is being installed is older than that already installed. I assuming that SP 2 has been installed (judging by the logs) Does anyone know how to install the BIDS application from the above scenario?
Recently we puchased the sql2005, and had it installed on our server.
However, I dont have the SQL Server Business Intelligence Development in my sql2005 intallation. when I read this forum and other websites, about SSIS packages I see that I need this tool. Where can I download it?
Is it possible I have another sql2005 version that don't have this tool?
We're trying to upgrade to SQL Server 2005 (from 2000), but we're having consistent problems getting BIDS to install correctly.
The BIDS installation has failed on four of seven machines we've tried installing the SQL Server 2005 tools on. Not very good odds. Note that the rest of the SQL Server tools installed correctly; only BIDS is hosed. Two of the three machines where BIDS installed correctly were fresh Window's XP installs; one, however, wasn't a fresh install, so it's a mild enigma.
On the other four machines we've had the following issues with BIDS:
the shortcut created in the Start menu tries to load 'devenv.exe', but it's missing. BIDS doesn't start. 'devenv.exe' is on the system, however upon starting BIDS we're greeting with a generic pop-up that says, "Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application.". Reinstalling the application does not help.
I first installed Visual Studio Express Edition which also installs SQL Server Express. I then installed Sql Server Management Studio Express. Subsequently I wanted to create reports, so I installed SQL Server Express with Advanced services which installs reporting services. But afte installing all these things I found that I am unable to create reports . To do that I would need Business Intelligence Development Studio . so I downloaded the install file for SQL Express toolkit which also includes installing BIDS. However when I tried to run the SQLEXPR_TOOLKIT.EXE it gives me teh message that all the components have already been installed. I cannot see BIDS anywhere (from start->programs->microsoft sql server 2005 or in control panel). Am i missing something? How do I determine if BIDS is installed or not
I want to install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition on a computer with Vista Business. It looks like a lot of issues. (1) Can I do this? (2) Does anyone have any instrucions?
I'm a newbie to Reporting Services so please forgive my ignorance...
I've recently installed SQL Server Express 2005 with Reporting Services on my Vista Business Notebook (with no network connections) and have installed VS C# Express as well as the Business Intelligence Studio to create reports.
My C# application can connect to SQL Server fine, however, the reports I created with Business Studio refuses to deploy to the server due to the following reason:
"The permissions granted to user 'localhostJenny' are insufficient for performing this operation".
I find this odd as I've been able to deploy reports on my other Windows XP machine (with SQL Server Express) no probs at all. Additionally, I cannot see the 'Site settings' link within Report Manager (Web) that I'd normally get with an admin account (i.e. on my Win. XP machine). Various sources indicate that my account has insufficient access rights to view this.
Having browsed through seemingly endless blogs and forums, I suspect that my local account has not been configured to access the Report Manager web client to publish, manage and administer the site.
I have tried the surface area tool for SQL Server, but I suspect that this is relevant only to SQL Server DB access and management. Adding an administrator here does nothing.
The question is, how can I grant access to myself (local account) to allow me to publish reports via business studio, and at the same time - administer Report Manager Site Settings - on my vista notebook??
I would be extremely grateful for any help on this matter - I've tried ceaseless reinstallations, but to no avail!
Hi, Is there any one knows how to fix this, please help! This is urgent. In the configuration checking, there was only one warning message about operation system (this warning should be ignored according to some advice). When coming to the Component checkboxes, there is only one checkboxe checkable at the last item. Thanks!
I am having a question as stated in the subject title, yes, when we want to deploy scorecards to reporting services, as the prerequisite, how can we install and register the scorecard custom data processing extension with the Microsoft reporting services server?
I am looking forward to hearing from you shortly and thank you again.

BUT when I look at the SETUP LOG FILE there is NOTHING in it. This is what I get:

I am having a problem with connecting to SQL Server 2005 database from Office Business Scorecard Manager 2005 (the connection string i am using is: provider=SQLOLEDB;Data source=server_name; Initial catalog=database_name). But the connection failed. Would please any experts here shed me any light on what is the problem and how to fix it then? As there is no any forum for Office Business Scrorecard manager 2005. Therefore I post my thread here as it is related to the connection to SQL Server 2005 database engine, thought here is the best place for this question.
Thank you very in advance for your kind advices and help. And I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
I know this can be done, but can't remember how I did it last time.
I have SQL 7.0 installed on a server which is located about 8 miles up the road. I don't have remote access to the server so I want to install SQL Enterprise Manager on my workstation - The installation of SQL tries to install the DB Engine too.
I'm pretty new to SQL anything... I'm wondering if there is a way to install just Enterprise Manager on my local workstation so I can open it up and manage or at least look at all of the SQL db's that are spread out on various servers - all in one place?
1. How can I install just Enterprise Manager (if possible). I ran setup on SQL2000 Personal Addition and it didn't look like it was going to get to a 'custom setup' screen so I cancelled, it looked like it was going to install SQL Server 2000 and all components (maybe this is what I have to do, I don't know).
2. If I install SQL2000 Enterprise Manager, am I able to access and view SQL 6.5 and SQL 7.0 and SQL 2000 databases all together?
We want to install SQL Enterprise Manager on a seperate server. Our provider for this server requires us to install SQL EM on a non-default drive/path, d:programs. How can I achieve this?
I would like to know which version of sql server I could install locally in my personal laptop where i can create new databases and use the enterprise manager???
I can't get the OLAP Manager to install on my client PC running Windows95. It does install on the server running NT4.0. I want to remotely administer the OLAP, just like I do with the Enterprise Manager on the client. Anyone have any suggestions? Do you have to have NT on the client?
Does anyone have a successful prescribed sequence for installing VS2005 and Business Intelligence Reports Projects on a Vista Business workstation to be used to create reports for a server?
I've looked through everything I can find here and I don't seem to see a clear solution without a lot of trial and error.
Fact is, I've not been successful getting just the reports to install on a plain XP box. Of course, the report creation looks fine on the server but I don't want to work directly on the server.
Can anyone take me through synchronization of contacts within Business Contacts Outlook into Microsoft Small Business Accounts?
I run a stand alone PC with NO network. When SBA came SQL was also installed. Apparently you can synchronise Contacts within Business Contacts with SBA but both SBA & Outlook should work through the same SQL server.
I have a database which has contact column eg. Mr Peter Smith
I am writing a new database which is to have three seperate columns.. saluation, first name and surname. What would be the best way to split the column up?? I was thinking on concentrating on the spaces??
Note: some conacts may not have saluation inc in the contact column, and in this case the saluation column should be blank...
Been learning web dev for five months in c#. The problem I have is that some weeks ago I moved my application to a new folder in my hard drive. All seemed ok but now my connection strings to insert data no longer work and throw exception saying...Object referance not set to an instance of an object. I dug into the new folder and it has created a new sql server ( I think) in app .data how do I connect to this new server and how do I find its connection strings.
I have a contact table and a customer table. The two tables will contain columns like First name Last Name, Date of Birth Post Code, House Number Street Name etc.
I would like to find the different combinations in which I can relate the customer and contact data. Like its is possible that the first name and last name are same but date of birth is different. This indicates that the contact and customer is the same. Now I do not know these combinations and I would like to have this set generated for me. From Integration Service (Sql Server 2005) I get the data and I would like to know the patterns in which data will differ. Is there any way of achieving this?
I am very new to Data Mining and would like to have some direction as to how to progress with this.
