Integration Services :: How To Import Filenames And File Creation Date Into Table
Apr 20, 2015
I am importing Differennt Excels Files into table. my require ment is after importing completed I need to insert all these Filenames ,File creation date into table. (for Auditing).
I created a simple SSIS package that takes a Flat File Source (CSV file) and Imports it into a OLE DB Destination ([TestCSVImport].dbo.Table1). I have other CSV files I'd like to import, but I don't want to import entries where column "ordereID" (PK) are the equal. Just want to import the new data found in the CSV files. I tried adding a Lookup in-between the Flat File Source and the OLE DB Destination, but I'm not sure how to accomplish only importing new data.
I have one task in which i have to collect lots of .txt file having ## delimiter my requirement is to convert the delimiter from ## to comma and save the new file with .dat extension in different folder.
I have done all required process and run the application which should flow like collect source .txt file do Script component processing and create new .dat file with processed data in Data Flow task, but in my Task the Source and Destination start on same time and process start after words which cause empty file or some time a.txt file data stored in b.dat file where as a.dat file is completely empty.
The process should flow in sequence but behavior is totally against the process, i am using Foreach Loop Container for pick up each file.
I have been working on this import for days and I just can't figure this out. All I am trying to do is import a flat csv file into a new table using the default settings in the import tool and it just won't work! I have tried it hundreds of different ways, including saving the package and opening it in BIDS. I am new to SQL and SSIS... Errors are below.
- Executing (Error) Messages Error 0xc02020a1: Data Flow Task 1: Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "Column 2" returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data.". (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)

I'm trying to use the Import/Export Wizard as I used to, as a handy tool to figure out what a series of T-SQL statements (in an SSIS package) is doing - or, if I'm lucky, what on earth the original dev intended them to do.
Version: SQL 2014 64-bit running on Win 7 64-bit
The code is pretty dreadful:
SELECT DISTINCT on one set of column names, join this set to another table but not on exactly the same set of column names, embedded (SELECT MAX(bla) FROM SameTable WHERE [match to outer set on another set of columns] GROUP BY [hey, yet another set of columns!]) inside the SELECT column list... and it all goes to a nasty #Tmp, which is then abused with further bad code further down.
Imp/Exp is always handy to quickly get the intermediate results into an auto-created real table, so I can figure out exactly what the effect of this is. I use it to export from the database back to the same database, but to a persisted table.
This time (first time with SQL2014) it's not working. The source is "write a query" (paste the actual query). The destination I set to a new table. The auto-generation of the new table creates every column as type date. Not surprisingly, this doesn't work, as the original data is mostly not of date time.
I am new to Integration services.I have one query ,Is it possible to import the data from text file in integration services. I know that we can import the data from excel sheet and we can export it to table. But my question is whether we can do the same thing from the text file.If anyone come acroos the same thing send u r possible answers.Your help is much appreciated.
I have a ssis package where I need to have excel destination. In the Excel file, I need to have few rows with some text and then populate data below the text. One the text is like this:
Data as of: 08/25/2015
if the report ran today, then Data as of will have Yesterday. So, if the user opens that excel file after a week, then user should see same Data as of: 08/25/2015. not today()-day(1).
I was planing to handle on excel side with today()-day(1). but it only works the day it was run. Then the excel file is open after few days later, then it might as Data as of: 08/30/2015 which is not true. It should still stay Data as of:
08/25/2015 on what ever date the excel file is open. The SSIS package runs only once.
How do I handle this so that whenever user open the file, they will see Data as of: 08/25/2015. This is not a column in excel. It is like a description of data in excel.
I have a flat file which have some record data ex.
id name team 1 "A"my" "Bl"ue"s" 2 "Bob" "Reds" 3 "Chuck" "Blues" 4 "Dick" "Blues"
in above example first record contain invalid data so complete flat file will not import due to one invalid row or record in flat file. so is there any way to check invalid row from flat file and ignore it(write log about invalid record) and process importing flat file.
I build my SSIS package based on the above file. But now i receive files with different columns order let say
lastName,FirstNamr,Address l1,f1,a1 L2,f2,a2 or Address,FirstName,LastName a1,f1,l1 a2,f2,l2
every time i receive multiple files in different order and i have to remap all my mappings. These are just a few columns and i have like 20 columns and the order can potentially change any time. so every time i have build new packages remap them etc.
through normal c# code it pretty easy. I tried to add script here but the script also needs a source and mapping so there is also a mapping issue. Is there a better way to do this.
I've a text file which having a datetime column value like YYYY-MM-DD-HH.MM.SS.XXXXXX. I cannot convert this is to datetime format from text file using BCP utility.
Presence of hypen "-" between DD and HH, the SQL server does not accept this is as Datetime.
Is there any option to covert the date value in format file in BCP.
I have a simple package to load data from sql server db into a flat file. I have a date field in the source data base (data type DATETIME) when i open the csv file some show the exact time stamp and some records show just the seconds like (00:00:0.7). I used CAST CONVERT bu still the same issue.
I am trying to import an xlsx spreadsheet into a sql 2008 r2 database using the SSMS Import Wizard. When pointed to the spreadsheet ("choose a data source") the Import Wizard returns this error:
"The operation could not be completed" The Microsoft ACE.OLEDB.12.0 provider is not registered on the local machine (System.Data)
How can I address that issue? (e.g. Where is this provider and how do I install it?)
We have a Job that calls a SSIS package 2005 that does some processing and execute a BAT file. This Job is being called by a web application. The BAT file creates a folder and named it based on the current date ( YYYY_MM) e.g 2015_07
It was working okay in the SQL Agent 2005 server until we moved to the new server SQL Agent 2012 using the same package SSIS package 2005. Now the issue is, instead of creating the folder based on YYYY_MM, it's now being created as YYYY_DD.I've checked the Regional settings of both server and they have the same "ENGLISH (United States) format. I even ran the code below and they're returning the same output echo %date:~ 10,4%_% date :~4,2%
I know the BAT file can be improved by not depending current locale in WINDOWS, but I just want to understand how this issue occurs and how does the regional setting being overridden?
'm getting the following error when trying to import an Excel file into SQL..I'm using SQL Server 2014 Express
- Validating (Error) Messages Error 0xc00470b6: Data Flow Task 1: The LocaleID 0 is not installed on this system. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc004706b: Data Flow Task 1: "Source - Sheet1$" failed validation and returned validation status "VS_ISBROKEN". (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc004700c: Data Flow Task 1: One or more component failed validation. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc0024107: Data Flow Task 1: There were errors during task validation. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard).
I'm just getting started with SSIS and want to create a custom data flow component. I found the Ivolva Digital "Component Wizards for Integration Services" which says it make starting your own custom task or data flow component a snap by providing a functional base project for your task or component.
Therefore I installed the Component Wizards for Integration Services and everything seemed to install ok - when I started Visual Studio I had the "Custom Data Flow Component" and "Custom Task" templates available in the New Projects dialog.
However, when I try to create a project of either of these types I get the message "Creating project 'CustomTask1'...project creation error" in the status bar, and can't get past the New Project dialog. (I can create all other project types ok, though).
Can anyone offer any advice that might help me out here?
I have a requirement to load bulk of csv files to sql table. some times, some columns could not come in csv file(some times 100 columns and some times 80 cloumns). That time the package is getting failed. How to create a table dynamically based on csv file structure.
I have a script that is utilizing an FTP task to retrieve files from a Windows FTP site without any issues. I need to check the dates of the files on the FTP site prior to downloading them as I only need files that have been modified. Since these files are hundreds of MB in size, downloading them first and them checking the date is not an optimal approach. Can somebody please help me figure out how to check the creation dates of the files on the remote FTP directory? Thanks!
I am using the below code in my command prompt and it is copying all the records from a particular table and dropping in Flat file format in particular folder location. The below code is working if I am pointing to my local database but if I need to point to different database outside my environment how should I set it here also including the case where User ID and password are required to access the db.bcp AdventureWorks.HumanResources.Department out C:myDepartment_c_t.txt -c -t, -r -T -S.
I have a requirement where I have to take all the data available from a sql table and write it out as a flat file in folder location. Its a simple table have 8-10 coloumns, have to take this data on daily basis from sql table and deliver out as flat file in a folder.
I'm importing comma-delimited text files into a SQL table. The data imports in a seemingly random order. One time I import and the lines appear one way and the next time I import they import another way.
Is there a way to force the text files to import in the same order the data is found in the file?
I've a dataflow task on For Each Loop container at control flow of SSIS package. This For Each Loop container reads the CSV files from the specified location one by one, and populates a variable with current file name. Note, the tables where I would like to push the data from each CSV file are also having the same names as CSV file names. On the dataflow task, I've Flat File component as a source, this component uses the above variable to read the data of a particular file.
Now, here my question comes, how can I move the data to destination, SQL table, using the same variable name?I've tried to setup the OLE DB destination component dynamically but it executes well only for first time. It does not change the mappings as per the columns of the second CSV file. There're around 50 CSV files, each has different set off columns in it. These files needs to be migrated to SQL tables using the optimum way.
Which is the best way to setup the Dataflow task for this requirement? Also, I cannot use Bulk insert task here as we would like to keep a log of corrupted rows.
In my SSIS package I have flat files as a source, I have to load numbers of flat files into SQL target table. I am using For each loop container for that. I am doing it correctly. My aim is to validate the source data from all angle before writing it into target sql table. I am using below points to validate the source data , if I found any bad data I am redirecting those data to error output.
To Checking
1. To check whether data type of column. 2. To check whether buisinesskey column null.
Is there any thing which I am missing to validate source data.
TABLE_NAME DESC CODE tab1 table1 A tab1 table1 B tab1 table1 C tab2 table2 D tab2 table2 E tab2 table2 G...
First column values are table names which are already exists in target database. Next two columns[Desc],[Code] data gets populate from CSV file to table.
In this scenario, how to load tab1 data into the same table in destination and so on.
Which way will be more standard to accomplish this task? If its a script task using C#, looking for clear script to identify a value changes in the first column.
