Make Tablix Column Group Show When Filter Returns No Rows

I'm running SQL Server 2008 Feb08 CTP and I've got a tablix with column groupings and row groupings which works nicely, I'm a becomming a big fan of the tablix.
However sometimes the filter I have on a column group returns no records and the whole column group disappears.
Is there any way to make this column appear with but with empty cells as I have another tablix down the page with the same columns and I want the columns to all line up on the multiple tablix.
In Version 2005 I used to achieve the equivalent of a column group within a table by adding a list with filter to the cell, this meant the column always was shown, the tablix allows does this much more elegantly but I'll have to go back to the old method if I can't make the column remain.
In my cube there is a customer dimension and a product dimension. If I filter on a single customer, and then click on the filter dropdown for product, all of the products for every customer are shown. Is it possible to make it so it only show the members for the customer selected?
I suspect the answer is no, as that would mean you can't untick any previously ticked members, but our account management team have got the right hump about them showing so I need to at least attempt it.
Hi everyone: I guess this should be a simple question but have not been able to find the answer, does anyone know how to make a SQL Sentence to return at least one row when counting? SELECT COUNT(Id_Field), Field2 FROM Table1 WHERE Code_Field = 1 GROUP BY Field2 This will return 0 rows when the where criteria is not matched by any record on the Table1, but I would like to have one row counting 0 rows, in stead it returns no rows at all. Thanks for any help.
I created a query that got the following result. But I expect to get the structure like, care_nbr, cust_nbr,legal_name, address_type=physical address, addr_line_1, addr_line_2, address_type-primary address, ddr_line_1, addr_line_2. That means I only need primary and physical address, and expect them to show in a row to each care_nbr. How to perform that?
I created a query that got the following result. I have one column in a matrix component and it has about 7 items, but the only the items which have values on the page appear at the top of that page.
This is for a labratory so the columns are the different Patient Types and the rows are the different Test Mnemonics. If one of the Patient Types is not used in any of the tests on that page, it doesnt show up. How to I make sure all Patient Types show up on every page?
I have a table that has a group. In this group, I want to filter by 2 different expressions, concatenated with an OR. BUT I can't change the "And/Or" column value for the first entry because it is grayed out. The column will automatically change to an OR value if both my expression column fields are the same (which I don€™t want) but if I put any other value in to the expression field of the second row, the "And/Or" field of the first row automatically changes to an AND.
PLEASE! How do I get the And/Or field "ungrayed" so I can change it to what I want?
The 2 filters I and using check the UserID = to the user, and the other is checking a count to get the Top N 1. (So just showing the current user and the top producer)
I have a report I'm designing where, as a simple SQL report viewed only on a screen, it was irrelevant how wide it was. However, now I've been asked to duplicate this report in SSRS and to include the option to print it out.
Well, the problem is, as it stands - with 8pt font, even - it will require a sheet of paper about 24" wide to get all of a single row to print.
So, I'm trying to create a Tablix that will split the data into two sets of header/detail rows in the same Tablix. Any workable solution that doesn't involve writing an app in basic or C.
hi,,,here is the issueon the site there is a multiline text box.people type in muliple lines including soft line breaks(soft return (shift+enter)) and hard line breaks (hard return(enter)). the data gets stored in the SQL server 2000 database. In enterprise manager I can see the returns (the line breaks), but when the same data gets posted back to the page it loose those soft and hard returns,whats going onhelp
I have a need to show a row inside a table group to simulate a header row for the data rows inside the group. The table will not have a real header or footer. Thanks for the help.

I am design a tablix report where i have proper row grouping but when i am trying to column grouping also unable to fetch proper design...design what exactly i am trying.
I am facing whitespace issue in my SSRS report. I have simple tablix report with 10 columns. I am trying to toggle column 5 to 8Â using on column 4. The problem I am facing is the whitespace. Now column 5 to 8 are only visible when we expand column 4. When the report is rendered on the screen, there is a huge gap between column 4 and 9.
We run 2014 enterprise. I tried this with both table and matrix controls to no avail.
In the table scenario, I drag the table control over, instruct ssrs that a group name will go into column 1 and a sales figure in column2. Then I highlight the sales figure cell, add a column group on month number and generate my report off some june and july data.
ssrs understands that the months now expand horizontally but the rows alternate one with june filled in (blanks in july) and the next with july filled in for the same group name. I believe I got all my sort by conditions set but am not sure.Â

I am writing a report in SQL server 2005 Reporting service. The report has two parts: first part shows basic information about the client; the second part lists all the softwares the client has. My question is how to make the softwares listed in two columns as shown below?
I have an SSRS 2012 table report with groups; each group is broken ie. one group for one page, and there are multiple groups in multiple pages.
'GroupName' column has multiple values - X,Y,Z,......
I need to group 'GroupName' with X,Y,Z,..... ie value X in page 1,value Y in page 2, value Z in page 3...
Now, I need to display another column (ABC) in this table report (outside the group column 'GroupName'); this outside column itself is another column header (not a group header) in the table (report) and it derives its name partly from the 'GroupName' Â values:
Example:
Value X for GroupName in page 1 will mean, in page 1, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-X Value Y for GroupName in page 2 will mean, in page 2, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-Y Value Z for GroupName in page 3 will mean, in page 3, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-Z
ie the column name of ABC (Clm ABC) Â must be dynamic as per the GroupName values (X,Y,Z....)

I have been able to use First(ReportItems!GroupName.Value) in the Page Header to get GroupNames displayed in each page; I get X in page 1, Y in page 2, Z in page 3.....
However, when I use ReportItems (that refers to a group name) in the Report Body outside the group,
I get the following error:
Report item expressions can only refer to other report items within the same grouping scope or a containing grouping scope
I need to get the X, Y, Z ... in each page for the column ABC.
I have been able to use this - First(Fields!GroupName.Value); however, I get ABC-X, ABC-X, ABC-X in each of the pages for the ABC column, instead of ABC-X in page 1, ABC-Y in page 2, ABC-Z in page 3, ...
I can add the following filter to row group 1 in my matrix, "=Count(Fields!event_id.Value) >= 2", but if I try the same filter in row group 2 in the matrix (a group with nearly exact same configuration as group 1), I get the following error:
"Operation is not valid due to current state of the object".
I am trying to add a filter to a matrix that looks like:
Item Value Value Total

Item3 Item4 15 8 23
I want to filter the matrix based on the value of the total column, allowing the user to enter an actual value, or a Top N value, or a Top %. I can accomplish this on the first row group, but putting it in row group 2 doesn't work. Please help.
I've got the following problem and the SQL Server books aren't really helping me on this subject. I have to create a chart that shows the top 10 cities with the most clients. I'm able to get all cities in the chart but filtering to the top 10 doesn't work.
In the properties of my chart (Data tab) I have: - Values: =Count(Fields!customerid.Value) - Series:
Group on: =Fields!city.Value Filter on: =Count(Fields!city.Value) | TOP N | 10
I always get a error message about a wrong filter expression.
