Mar 18, 2008I have an already published application running several MS SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services report.
I need a way to find from either the reporting services log or the application server (IIS) logs or windows log
to know the frequency of each report being used.
Based on this info, the business needs to know which reports are being used and to what extend?
How can I acheive this?
I have already got the IIS logs and it did not give the required info.
I have looked into the Reporting Services logs but it does not provide the info either.
Any help is appreciated

Converting Reports FROM SQL RS 2000 TO SSRS 2005
Apr 23, 2007I have abt 30 reports currrently in SQL 2000. My data still resides in SQL SERVER 2000. However, I need to convert these reports to SSRS 2005.
I want to use the cool features like sorting, multi-value parameters from the RS 2005.
Can you pl advise how I shud go abt converting these reports from RS 2000 TO RS2005 .

i've used sql 2000 to create reports. Now i have almost 100 reports with lot of history (snapshots). Now i've developed the same reports in 2005 (basically upgraded the reports). If i upload the new reports, the 2000 history will be lost. Is there anyway that i can upgrade to 2005 and save the history ??

Aug 13, 2015How to manage the progression of SSRS reports from DEV > TEST > USER > PROD...I can see that you COULD manage this all from within VS however then all the control is in the developers hands and even though you can control access with permissions and stuff, its not very user friendly to provide a tester or business area manager or project manager with VS just so they can publish reports as they are approved.Are their any such tools to manage migration between ssrs servers or something that you could have a user test a report and then do something like "approve/promote" it to the next environment, or is this something we would need to create ourselves?
I can see that there are a few things that allow PROJECTS to be migrated (powershell scripts and something about octopus deploy) but these all seem to be too "big" for our organisation - we generally develop reports as a "logical group" (project) but migrate them individually or in VERY small groups (5 is probably the maximum), however keeping tabs on what report is at what version in what environment is causing our DBA massive migranes...Maybe there is something we can do from TFS or perhaps we need to build a utility app?

Converting Crystal Reports To SSRS Reports

My issue is with converting multi-value parameters:
In Crystal Reports, you can set a parameter to accept multiple vales (Discrete, Range or Discrete and Range).
As an example:
I have a database table with a column called ID.
I can create a parameter called param_id and set the options of the parameter to "Allow multiple range values".
With this setup, I can limit the result set of the report by comparing the param_id parameter to the ID column in the database. Because param_id is a multi-value range parameter, I can pass it the following data:
1 - 50
60 - 80
150 - 127
This will only return results within those ranges.
Does anyone know if SSRS provides this kind of functionality?

Copy Reports From Other Users My Reports Folder
Aug 7, 2007Is there a way to copy reports from other users "My reports" folder? I am logging onto the management studio reporting services using an administrative account and I am able to view the reports from all users' "My Reports" folder. But I am not able to export them as an rdl file. I am able to export reports from other common folders, but not from the "My Reports" folder.
The reason I need to do this is some of the users have created some reports in one environment and the reports are available in their respective "My Reports" folder. I need to move these reports to their corresponding "My Reports" folder in another environment.
Is there a way to do this?

I have two problems.
1. I downloaded ChartFXRSTrial and created one chart, and able to deploy it in ReportServer, but the problem is the reports are not showing there, i checked the configuration of .dll files in the help provided by chartFX, but couldn't get anything, so could help me on this.
2. How to give Tooltip for the X- axis or Y- axis values in the ReportServer , i tried using chartproperties of .rdl file, but didnt understand it. can help me on this, and one more i tried with Dundas too, If im giving tooltip as #valy then, it is showing samething in reportserver instead the values of 'Y-axis'.

Query Engine Error: '2001:[microsoft][odbc sql server]string or binary data would be truncated.'
I am using a stored proc in SQL 2000 that returns a text field for the output.

Sql 2000 Reporting Services - Reports Will Not Render Online

i got through the installation of the Sql Server 2000 Reporting services evaluation and managed to deploy a couple reports and a shared data source to my reporting server on my DEV box.
Now im trying to view the reports i made online and they never render, all i get is the animated gif that always says "Report is being generated". This goes on and on with apparently no end in sight.
I CAN preview the reports in VS 2003 and they render almost instantly. there are no differences that may affect the connection to the database between my development computer (with VS 2003) and the server that the reporting server is on.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this may be happening ?

I have a report in one folder in Report Manager. Let's call that the 'base' report. I've created a linked report with that 'base' report to another folder. When I go into Visual Studio BIDS, change the report and deploy it to Report Manager, only the base report changes. The linked report does not change.
Is this by design? I thought linking reports gave you the ability to have a base report and numerous other linked reports, all of which would also change if you changed and redeployed the base report. Is that not the case?

SQL 2005 Connection To Crystal Reports
Dec 15, 2007I have created a "read only" login on the SQL 2005 database server with rights to the public role with grant connection rights. When I use the "read only" username in Crystal Reports, the database does not show in the dropdown box. When I give "read only" sysadmin rights, all databases appear. I do not want "read only" to have sysadmin rights, is there another way around this that would truly give "read only" read-only rights?

server. Folders will be moved to new parent folders.
Is there any tool that I can use fot this purpose?
I used RSScripter from SQLdbatips.com. Although the tool works great but it
can't script multiple folder reports. I have to script one by one and it is
a big problem.

I am trying to access some SQL 2005 reports externally from the network, however when i try to open the reports i get the following error -
· "The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.
The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure."
Any ideas on how i could resolve this issue?

Can't Create Reports Via VS 2005 Standard
Aug 16, 2007From what I read about the versions, VS 2005 Standard allows for SSRS development.
If I create a new project, I don't see the option to create anything from the BI section to create a report project.
I have SQL Server Express on my machine, and am able to run the SSRS configuartion management tool.
Do I have to run an .exe file or something?

Sql Server 2005 SP2 Affect SSRS Reports.

I had a report (.rdl) using sql reporting services in sql server 2005, where it was running quite good.
I have just installed sql server 2005 sp2. After that, when I run the report through report viewer, the result of the report contains the first record of the dataset keep on repeating for all other records. If I run the dataset the results are correct,but if I preview it, then the first record alone repeating for all other records.
I feel that sp2 might cause this rendering problem. Any suggestion please?

I had a report that exported to PDF just fine before installing SP2 and now it is completely messed up. The report consists of a table that has two header rows (the report is basically a calendar). First Header Row is Month - merged across all 7 columns, Second header row is day of week. The next row is a row containing the date and finally the last row contains the actual data that is populated into each day. It is a sub-report in each cell of the row. It used to export fine but after applying SP2 it exports to pdf like this:
1st page is the first header row (Month) - Nothing else on the page
2nd page is the 2nd header row (Day of Week) - Nothing else on this page.
3rd page is the 1st row of actual dates - Nothing else on the page.
4th page is the data that goes to that 1st row of dates on the 3rd page, this page all all following pages are fine and show the row with the date directly above the data row with no page breaks in-between.
There is nothing in any of the controls forcing a page break (remember, it worked fine up until SP2 was applied).
What did the SP break? I am unable to modify my report now so that it exports to PDF correctly. What the heck???
Deploy Reports Via Visual Studio 2005
Feb 23, 2007This seems to be a basic issue, but I am having a problem trying to deploy a report to Reporting Services.
I have setup the deployment options under the properties of the Project. But each time I try to deploy a report, I get "The request failed with HTTP status 504: Gateway Time-out"
When I try to connect to connect directly to the TargetServerURL via a web browser from my client or the server itself, I can browse the structure fine. Not sure why I can't deploy via Visual Studio.
