Dec 20, 2006Hello.Lets say that there is a table with N rows. now, i want to display the table's data on a web page. one way is to select the whole table and add each row's data to the webpage (something like SELECT * FROM TABLE1).going this way will create a huge page. i want to speared the results over multiple pages - excatly as this forum spread each forum messages over multiple pages.
for this purpose, i need to query Y rows each time, for example, if my table has 20 rows, and say that i want that each page will display 5 rows, then i need to query 5 rows each time. the first 5 rows for the first page, the next 5 rows for the second page and so on...
is there any way to achieve it using an SQL query?
the simplest way is to select the whole table and manaually filter the results. but this way will become slow as the table grows with data... and i dont want to select rows which i wont display anyway.
any suggestions?

Mar 3, 2014I work for a school district and new requirement we were just given for scoring some student scores.
Everything will currently be in one table to keep track of students test scores for various things. This table will contain students information and a student will be shown more than once in the table. The Student ID is what we will key off of to find the multiple instances of the student. The table contains the following columns: studentName, StudentId, teacherName, focus1, controllingIdeas1, reading1, development1, organization1, conventions1, and contentUnderstanding1. All of the columns with a 1 at the end will be numeric values with possible decimal values.
What we need to be able to do is some how perform a search for these multiple entries of each student and when found, average the 2 scores for each 7 test categories. The result needs to be a single line for each student that gives the student name, student id, and the 7 test category averages exported to an csv file.

Are there any extended stored procuder to get the above?
Scenario:
>Desktop>Right Click on My Computer
>Go to Manage and click
>Expand System Tools
>Expand Event Viewer
>Application
click on one event.We can get the log info which is the manual procudure.
But now i want to get the event properties through the Query analyzer...
Any help would be great?

RentalControl_Main has the rental informationd and an Adjuster ID that links to the ADjuster table and the adjusters name. I am trying to create a report that gives the "Single" adjuster name and the totals for all of their contracts. I have a details report that gives each contract info. for each specific adjusters rentals. However, I want to just list the adjuster once and give all of their totals. How To Handle Database Transaction Within Multiple Web Forms?
Dec 12, 2007I have a asp.net 2.0 web application. In one of the modules I have following scenario. In the UI there are 3 pages to take the input from the user. On the 1st page, we are inserting data in the master table and with the same we are beginning new sql transaction with the isolation level READ UNCOMMITTED. so that uncommited master table data can be read. Master table has also has 4 detail tables. Then the user is navigated to 2nd and then to 3rd page where the user can enter multiple records in the detail tables. And only after finishing on the 3rd page, the transaction is commited.
I want to ask that is it the right way of doing this kind of functionality?
And is there any other way of doing this?

Autogrow of file 'FORMS' in database 'FORMS' cancelled or timed out after 30547 ms. Use ALTER DATABASE to set a smaller FILEGROWTH or to set a new size.
FORMS.LDF file is 7613952 KBand the growth is 512MB .
By how much should I set the filegrowth? The users are complaining that the application is freezing on them.
This is sqlserver 2000.

Oct 24, 2015We know we can use the event lock_deadlock and xml_deadlock_report to capture the deadlock info, however I also want to capture the execution plans for all of the SPIDs in the deadlock graph, how to output the execution plans to the extended events trace results either ? such as if there is an action for execution plan or workaround for it ?If there is no built in action for execution plan , may I know if we can add the customized info to the extended events results file also ? Such as when the deadlock related event happens , then we can run a query to get some info ,then added the info along with other info such as sql_text, dbname etc to the events trace results file either ? The reason is if we also know the execution plans when the deadlock happens, it is useful to turning the query based on the execution plans to reduce deadlock happening .

I have an OnError event handler associated with the encapsulating container. When one of the Data Flow tasks within the For Each Loop Container fails, the OnError for the Loop Container gets called 5 times. The OnError handler is just a script task that sends a notification email. I am not explicitly Dts.taskresult = failure, nor am I calling FireError.

Feb 12, 2008Hello. I currently have a website that has a table on one webpage. When a record is clicked, the primary key of that record is transfered in the query string to another page and fed into an sql statement. In this case its selecting a project on the first page, and displaying all the scripts for that project on another page. I also have an additional dropdownlist on the second page that i use to filter the scripts by an attribute called 'testdomain'. At present this works to an extent. When i click a project, i am navigated to the scripts page which is empty except for the dropdownlist. i then select a 'testdomain' from the dropdownlist and the page populates with scripts (formview) for the particular test domain. what i would like is for all the scripts to be displayed using the formview in the first instance when the user arrives at the second page. from there, they can then filter the scripts using the dropdownlist.
My current SQL statement is as follows.
SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [TestScript] WHERE (([ProjectID] = @ProjectID) AND ([TestDomain] = @TestDomain))"
So what is happening is when testdomain = a null value, it does not select any scripts. Is there a way i can achieve the behaivour of the page as i outlined above? Any help would be appreciated.

The user normally opens up the query, edit the script to replaythe xxxxx in the line "set @FQDN="xxxxx" with the node name and thenfires it off.I would like to know what are the ways to wrap a simple user interfacearound it so the user does not have to open and edit the scriptdirectly. May 14, 2004I have transferred my program to a 2000 server and while programming it was automatically using the local ASPNET login and when transferring it to the server it says that it is having problems logging into the sql server using an anonymous login. How do i change the program so that it can use the sa login or some other assigned login?

Is there a way I can trace it how it is coming? When I check input buffer for these ids, it looks like it is tracing everything. All the general application DMLs are coming in these spids.
WMI Event Watcher Task Continual Firing Event When Not Triggered
Apr 8, 2008I have been testing with the WMI Event Watcher Task, so that I can identify a change to a file.
The WQL is thus:
SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent within 30
WHERE targetinstance isa 'CIM_DataFile'
AND targetinstance.name = 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup\AdventureWorks.bak'
This polls every 30 secs and in the SSIS Event (ActionAtEvent in the WMI Task is set to fire the SSIS Event) I have a simple script task that runs a message box).
My understanding is that the event polls every 30 s and if there is a change on the AdventureWorks.bak file then the event is triggered and the script task will run producing the message.
However, when I run the package the message is occurring every 30s, meaning the event is continually firing even though there has been NO change to the AdventureWorks.bak file.
Am I correct in my understanding of how this should work and if so why is the event firing when it should not ?
Query Profiler Event Log Software
Feb 16, 2004I am looking for a way to log all events that occur on the server. I have used quary profier and that gets me the info i need but is there a way to truncate the file, say only log the last 30 minutes of activity and having it rolling so that it is always the last 30 minutes. Or is there some other software that will do this. The database times out at random times and I am trying to fix the problem but dont want to keep houndreds of log files that query profiler will create by leaving a trace running 24/7. Any suggestions.

DTS Package With Multiple Results
Feb 28, 2008Hi everyone, I have a DTS package on my SQL Server database that returns several different results. Does anybody know how I would access any one particular part of the return. I am trying to make it so that there is only one run to the database for the information, but am not sure how to get just the parts I want out of the DTS package. for Example, here is my DTS Package:

Combining Multiple Results Into One Row
Mar 6, 2006Hey guys, here is my issue, i'm trying to combine multiple columns of data into one row. For example, I have a temp table:
create table #Custom_Address

As you can tell, the 'custom_address' column is going to house the results of the combination.
I am trying to INSERT (combine) using this statement:

I want to insert the patient_id, episode_id, and then combine the 'cc.coverage_plan_add1 +' ' + coverage_plan_add2 + ' ' + coverage_plan_city+ ' ' + coverage_plan_st+ ' ' + coverage_plan_zip' data to represent my "custom_address" column and only when there is data in those columns.
Then I do my update:
UPDATE#ClaimMaster
SET #ClaimMaster.custom_address = ca.custom_address
FROM #ClaimMaster
JOIN#Custom_Address ca on #ClaimMaster.patient_id = ca.patient_id and #ClaimMaster.episode_id = ca.episode_id
However, when I do this, it says my 'cc.coverage_plan_add1 + etc' columns are invalid because they are not contained in either an aggregate function or a GROUP By clause.
If i'm combining all the data to represent a single column, how do I format my group by clause? Or is my entire INSERT statement wrong?
As a side note, my #ClaimMaster table is another temp table, but the problem is not in there.

I know that one can use NOT_FOR_REPLICATION for identities, but I am interested in a (complete?!) list of metadata objects that transactional replication *prefers* not to transfer across to the target by default.

Dec 10, 2003Is there a way to get multiple rows of data to show in 1 row of results?
I have a Data Table (ID, Name, Date, etc), Facility Table (ID, Name) and FacilityKey Table (Data ID and Facility ID). The Data table has a 1 to many relationship with the FacilityKey table.
I want to return the Data ID and each Facility Name associated with that Data ID to display in a DataGrid (preferably each Facility Name in the same cell on the grid too), but am stumped on how to get teh query to work (or where to look in the SQL documentation for something like this).
