Outlook 2003 Filter SQL Tab To Compare The Values Of Two Fields In A Given Contact.

Sep 28, 2007

Hello and Thank You in advance:

I would like to Use the SQL Tab in the Filter Selection of the View-Modify Current View Option in Outlook 2003.
I am specifically trying to create a statement that only displays those Contacts that have a Modified Date that is different than the Created date. In other words I want to view all the records that have been modified at any time after the date of their creation.

I have been unable to create a SQL statement that compares the Created and Modified fields in the Contacts. Would you please explain and show what the correct syntax is in order to compare the values of two fields within a given Contact?

These are all examples of what I have tried and that have not worked. I cannot find documentation for this anywhere only small articles here and there that are not enough for me to develop a complete answer from:

(("urnchemas:calendar:created" >= '1/1/2001 12:00 AM' AND
"urnchemas:calendar:created" <= '12/31/2001 12:00 AM')
AND ("urnchemas:calendar:created" <> "urnchemas:calendar:lastmodified" ))
("urnchemas:calendar:created" <> "urnchemas:calendar:lastmodified" )

(("urnchemas:calendar:created" >= '1/1/2001 12:00 AM' AND
"urnchemas:calendar:created" <= '12/31/2001 12:00 AM') AND
("DAV:getlastmodified" >= '1/1/2001 12:00 AM' AND
"DAV:getlastmodified" <= '12/31/2007 12:00 AM'))

("urnchemas:calendar:created" <> "DAV:getlastmodified")
("DAV:getlastmodified" <> "urnchemas:calendar:created")
("DAV:getlastmodified" <> 'urnchemas:calendar:created')
("urnchemas:calendar:created" <> 'DAV:getlastmodified')

Email Report In Outlook 2007 Not The Same As Outlook 2003

Feb 7, 2007

I have a Reporting Services 2005 report that is emailed to users.  I created/formatted  the report based on how it looked in Outlook 2003 which all of our users had at that time.  The report is wide, but just fit in the email window when it was full size.   Now I have a user who has been converted to Outlook 2007 and he emailed me a copy of the report he received in Outlook 2007 and it looks like it reduced the column sizes; it does not fill the entire email window and wraps the wording on most lines because the column sizes have been reduced.

The report is:

Delivered by: Report Server E-mail

Include Report is checked

Render Format is Web archive

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Install Issue For Business Contact Manager For Outlook 2007 And SQL Express

Jul 11, 2007

Hi,

We try to install Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 and get installation failed without any error. It simply refers to the log file. I have posted below the last 40 lines of this huge log file. The information in there are not vary help full since it refers to error codes that nobody seem to be able to explain. Now this is happening on 3 brand new dell computers running XP Pro. I would be happy for any assistance to either explain the error coded (if any MS guy is monitoring this) or maybe someone had a similar problem and could let me know some options on what I could try to get this resolved and my program installed.

Thank you all very much for assisting me.

Thom

Agent Mail / Outlook 2003 Catch 22

Jan 30, 2006

I've just installed and configured outlook 2003 with sql agent mail and I've come across a strange conundrum: messages from agent mail are not actually sent unless the outlook client is open, but the default mail folder is locked by agent when agent is started, thus preventing outlook 2003 from opening. If I try things the other way - opening the client and then configuring/restarting agent mail - then agent mail can't access the default mail folder because the client has it locked.

There doesn't seem to be any way to win here.

Anyone come across this issue and found a workaround?

Contact Form - Variable Number Of Input Fields, Store Data As Xml String ?

Jul 13, 2007

Im trying to determine the best way to store data gathered from a form that a user will fill out online.  The form is dynamic and is customized at run time based on group-specific criteria.  The end result is a form that might have 3 extra text boxes, 2 extra sets of radio buttons and a freeform textbox, whereas for another group, there might be a slightly different set of input fields.   Now comes the issue of storing this data.  Since the fields can be somewhat dynamic, it could get tricky to define table columns for each possible input field.  So Im considering storing the data as xml.  Has anyone else had to build custom forms and ended up storing the data as xml ?

Compare Incoming Input File Row Values With Database Row Values In SSIS

Jan 23, 2008

Hi All,

I receive the input file with some 100 columns and some 20k+ rows and I want to check the incoming input row is existed in the database or not based on 2 key columns. If the row is existed then I need to check all the columns (nearly 100 columns) values in input and the database are equal or not. If both are equal I need to treat them seperately if not there is a seperate logic. How Can I do that check for each row and for each column?

Basically the algorithm is like this, if the input file row is not existed in the database then treat that as new row else if the input row is existed in the database then check all the columns are equal or not. If all the columns are equal then treat that as existing row and do nothing else if some columns are not equal then treat this row seperately.

I found some thing to achieve the above thing.
1. Take the input row and check in the database.
2. If the row is not found in the database then treat it as new row.
3. If row is found in the database then
a) Take the source row and prepare a concatenated string for all the columns
b) Take the database row and prepare a concatenated string for all the columns
c) Find out the hash code for the 2 strings and then compare hash codes for equal.

The disadvantage of this is running a loop 2*m*n times where m is the number of rows and n is the number of columns. It should be done 2 times for input file row and database row.

Can anybody suggest a good method to do this?

What does the function "GetHashCode" for InputBuffer in method "Public Overrides Sub Input0_ProcessInputRow(ByVal Row As Input0Buffer)" will do?
Will it generates hash code based on all the columns values?

Pls clarify.

Regards
Venkat.

Access 2003 / SQLSEE 2005 - Using Forms To Filter Recordsets

Aug 7, 2006

I upsized an Access 2003 database to SQL Server Express Edition 2005, and have converted all tables, queries, reports and macros successfully so far. The snag I'm running into involves using macros embedded in buttons on certain forms using Access as the frontend.

With these forms, the idea is to navigate to a certain record, and hit a button to bring up a print preview view of a report. Based on the record you're looking at in the form, it should check against the data in the table to which it refers, and pull up a single record in the report.

In access as a standalone, using the OpenReport command, the code was as follows:

[MRB Report Data]![MRB Report Number]=[Forms]![MRB Data Input]![MRB Report Number]

MRB Report Data is the table containing data, and MRB Report Number is the primary key (autonumber). MRB Data Input is the form in question, and the second MRB Report Number is the control field that references back to the MRB Data Input table.

When I try to run this using Access as a frontend, an error occurs at the first '!' - is there a different syntax I need to specify to reference a form in this case?

Thanx in advance.

SQL- How To Compare Max Date Across Fields

Jan 4, 2006

Hello, I am wondering how to select the max date from a database view containing multiple date fields for a particular record. I am rusty at SQL and can't seem to get started. Here's an example of the data:

PRCL_IDPROJ_STRT_DTORD_DT ...
1242/3/20063/5/2006
5206/3/20068/2/2006
6412/31/2005
1872/14/20063/16/2006

I need to be able to compare the max date for each PRCL_ID record ("where prcl_id="). In the example above, prcl_id 124 has a max date of 3/5/2006, and prcl_id 520 has a max date of 8/2/2006, etc. The results of the SQL query should return the PRCL_ID and the max date.

Example query results:

PRCL_ID ORD_DT
124 3/5/2006

Please let me know if you can help or if I can provide more info.

Thanks,
Alexkav

Compare Fields In 2 Tables

Jan 30, 2008

For example, I have 2 tables that have very similar fields

Table 1 Table 2
ShipRpt ShipRpt
invoice invoice
total sold total sold

Is it possible to compare each of these fields and return any record that has non matching data? I would join the tables on the shipping report or invoice and only compare the total sold field. If the invoices match and the total sold is different in each table, can I just return the 1 record?

Cannot Compare NVarChar(Max) Fields Over 4000 Chars

Oct 24, 2006

I had a post a week or so ago with this issue, I found the cause, but cannot figure out how to fix it... The problem is the comparison on the NVarChar(Max) fields when one of them exceeds 4000 chars. Compare Fields-two Flat Files-load Data

Jul 13, 2007

Hi All,

I am totally new to SSIS and im in the learing phase. I have a requirement as below,

I have two flat files (mainframe files), the structure i have given below,

File1:

070113

12345johnk

23456james

1st row is header record which has got date in YYMMDD format and remaining rows have emp no and emp name

File2:

070113

070113

070113

070113

contains 4 records which are dates.

The requirement is to compare the header date in file1 with the 4 dates in file2, if they are equal then it should load all the records in file1 except the header into a table and if they donot match then it should log an err msg. Please could someone provide a lead on this.

The files have same record length and fixed field delimited.

Thanks in advance

Check Constraint - Compare Sum Of Two Values In One Table Against Values Located In Another Table

Jul 26, 2014

I am relatively new to SQL and as a project I have been asked to create the SQL for a simple database to record train details. I want to implement a check constraint which will prevent data from being inserted into a table if the weight of the train is more than the maximum towing weight of the locomotive. FOr instance, I need to add the unladen weight and maximum capacity of each wagon (located in the wagon type table) and compare it against the locomotive maximum pulling weight (the locomotive class table). I have the following SQL but it will not work:

check((select SUM(fwt.unladen_weight+fwt.maximum_payload) from
hauls as h,freight_wagon as fw,freight_wagon_type as fwt,train as t where
h.freight_wagon_serial_number = fw.freight_wagon_serial_number and
fw.freight_wagon_type = fwt.freight_wagon_type and
h.train_number = t.train_number) <
(select lc.maximum_towing_weight from locomotive_class as lc,locomotive as l,train as t where
lc.locomotive_class = l.locomotive_class and l.locomotive_serial_number = t.locomotive_serial_number))

The hauls table is where the constraint has been placed and is the intermediary table between train and freight wagon.

I may not have explained this very well; but in short, i need to compare the sum of two values in one table against a values located in another table...At present I keep getting a message telling me the sub query cannot return more than one row.

How To Compare Int Values In VB.net?

Nov 11, 2006

Here is my statement:
Dim MyCommand As SqlDataAdapter
MyCommand = new SqlDataAdapter("select * from Request T1, Users T2 where RunID= "+ intRun_Num +" and T1.UserID = T2.UserID ORDER By Username", MyConnection)

I'm getting error saying:
Input string was not in a correct format.

the problem is the intRunNum. When I put intRunNum.toString(), there is no error but no results are coming up.

How do I get past this?

Trying To Filter Columns On Multiple Values With OR

Nov 6, 2014

I am trying to filter my columns on multiple values. I need them all to be OR because I want it to look through all of the columns and wherever the value matches to not include in the view. My WHERE clause that I thought would work looked like this..

WHERE (NOT (RTPL_VOLUME_DATA_1.SYMBOL LIKE '%spot%')) AND (NOT (RTPL_VOLUME_DATA_1.ISSPREAD = 'True')) AND
(NOT (RTPL_VOLUME_DATA_1.GMIPRODUCTCODE = 'Internal')) AND (RTPL_VOLUME_DATA_1.TAG_COMMENT IN ('[]', '[Gscalp]', '[TT]', '[GX2]', '[NA]', '[STELLAR]')) OR
(RTPL_VOLUME_DATA_1.TAG_COMMENT IS NULL)

However this does not work and provide the data needed. I then thought that if I replaced all the AND's with OR's that would work, but here it does not filter anything.. not sure where to go from here.

How Do You Compare Date Values

Aug 2, 2004

I'm stuck trying to compare date values from users selection against a database. I also need to add a condition statement on if the results return no match. How would I do that?

Also, I'm not even sure if my SELECT statement is right. The user will hit a date that will be in format m/d/yyyy and that will be compared to see if it exist in the database. The datebase column "date_created" is default with date/time( 8 ). But when I compare the to together, nothing returns back. The page loads successfully, but no results from the database.

Here is my code:
dim conpubs as sqlconnection
dim cmdSelectAuthors as sqlcommand
dim dtrAuthors As sqlreader

conpubs = New sqlconnection(configurationsettings.appSettings("STD"))
conpubs.open()
cmdSelectAuthors = New sqlcommand("Select * From HotNews WHERE date_created=" & y, conpubs)
dtrAuthors = cmdSelectAuthors.ExecuteReader()
Response.Write("<table><tr><td>")

While dtrAuthors.Read()
Response.Write(dtrAuthors("title") & "<br>")
End While

Response.Write("</td></tr></table>")

dtrAuthors.close()
conPubs.close()

Compare DateTime Values

Feb 2, 2006

guys this is kind of a biggie for me.
i've only used sql server to compare the Date Portion of date(s), not the whole string (mm/dd/yyyy hh:mi).
i have a table called Time_Check which has two fields with timestamps,
"TimeLastRun & TimeNextRun". i was trying to compare the Current TimeStamp that i pass from a vb.net form to a stored procedure and compare that DateTime to the TimeNextRun. I'd like to then Update the two Time Columns if rows are found. Should i maybe be using the DateDif Func if i know ahead of time how much time should be elapsed(say five minutes)?
Any Code help is appreciated

Create Procedure dbo.My_Time_Check
@myDate smalldatetime
as
select alertnumber,alertname,TimeLastRun,TimeNextRun
from time_check
where timeNextRun >= @myDate
--would like to update these two columns if rows are found

thanks again
this forum is the best
