RAID Set For Database XXX Is Missing Member Number 1.

Jul 24, 2000

I saw a previous request for help, but I did not see a solution (other than deleting and re-initializing the dump.

I'm copying a database from one server to another and I repetedly get this error when I try to restore from the .bak file I create on backup. The host machine for the database is a workstation (no RAID). The Destination does have RAID, but is funtioning properly (according to the SysOps and in testing file copies). I've tried copying the .bak file to several different drives several different times and I get the same error. I also tried to back-up a database on the Destination server and restore the .bak file to a newly created database and I get the same error.

Anyone solve this problem?

Missing Value Property Of Calculated Member

Mar 26, 2007

Hi,

I defined several calculated measures in my cube. In Report Designer, i want to filter data depending a calculated measure.

Some caluclated measures are missing properties like value or ismissing. Anybody a hint, why these measures dont provide the properties, as for that filtering or hiding is not possible.

In AS every property is the sam for all calcs and the leaking calcs dont have difficult expressions (IIF(measure<0,measure/measure,0.0)

Method Or Data Member Not Found Am I Missing A Ref Lib?

Mar 25, 1999

Below is code that I have aquired from both the SQL6.5 Books online and a VB5 book. The problem is that when I run this code it returns back the error Method or data member not found. OK I have been to Projects References and made sure that both the Microsoft RemoteData object 2.0 and Remotedata control 2.0 where both included in my project.

The Remotedata control works great, however it does not allow me to Add data and Remove Data.

Am I missing a Reference file?
Do I have the correct version of Remotedata objects?

Missing Dimension Member During Fact Load

Aug 15, 2007

I'm putting together a Kimball method SSIS package. My factSales table has an OrderRep key. If a match isn't found in the dimRep table I am inserting a dummy dimRep row and going on. That seems to be working.

My question is what do I do when the OLTP sales row has NULL for the OrderRep. This is possible; every sale does not have to have an order rep. My package is seeing that as a non match and trying to create a dummy row in the dimRep table for every NULL. I really don't want to do this. I can trap for the NULL rep and convert it to "unknown" or something but then the program would still create a single row in the dimRep table for unknown. Is that the best way to handle this? Or is there a way to trap for NULL and ignore the entire lookup process? A conditional split before every key lookup?

I have about 5 or 6 other dimension tables that will have the same NULL possibility.

Thanks.

How To Select First Missing Number In Order

I am assigning temporary Ids in my table, and right now I am assigning new ones via find the MAX(Temp_Id), stripping out the number and adding one.

Since these are temporary I would like to be able to reuse older ones when they are no longer in the table.

For example I have:
ID0001
ID0002
ID0003
ID0006

My code right now will add ID0007. I would like to re-use ID0004 and ID0005 since they're no longer in use. How do I go about do this?

RAID 1 Or RAID 5 For Mdf Files?

Mar 27, 2008

I've always heard that RAID 5 (or better, RAID 10) is preferred for the actual database (mdf), but RAID 1 for logging.

If I have a dedicated physical volume for each, what's the performance hit for selecting RAID 1 for the MDF files? 3%, 20%, 200%?

Doing so (all RAID1) will allow me to have a separate physical volume for the TEMP database - that is heavily used by my app.

Transact SQL :: Trying To Do A Simple Sum But Missing Transaction Number

Jul 22, 2015

I have a transaction number in my mapping table. I have a matching transaction number in my PDHist table. Sometimes I have matching transaction numbers in my PD table, but not always. This is causing no records to be returned.  I have a One to Many relationship between my mapping table and both PD and PDHist.

Also, I need to check for nulls in my foreign exchange table.I can’t post the SQL because this is a classified project.  However, it should be something like this, I think.

IIf(IsNull([Redem]![FX Rate]),([PDHist]![Remaining Balance]+[PD]![Closing Balance(TC)]).

The addition isn’t working. I think with a small push I can get this straightened out.

Adding A Member For Database Role

Nov 8, 2000

Hi,

I have a login 'testuser' on test server.
This login was 'db_datareader' for database called 'invent_test' on test server.
I deleted the whole database and restored the production backup as 'invent_test' database.
Now I am trying to modify login 'testuser' by adding it as 'db_datareader' for 'invent_test' again but it gives me an error that 'this user or role already exists for current database'.

I can not see 'db_datareader' or even 'invent_test' options selected in login properties for 'testuser'. Also I can not find 'testuser' in database roles
-->db_datareader member list.
Is this a bug with sql server 7.0? Or how should I give this user priviledges to read?

I dropped the login and recreated it. Server is also rebooted meanwhile so there is no possibility for cashe problem. Still same error is there.
Is there any thing that I am missing here?

I really appreciate your help. I am very frustrated now.

Transact SQL :: Find Missing Months In A Table For The Earliest And Latest Start Dates Per ID Number?

Aug 27, 2015

I need to find the missing months in a table for the earliest and latest start dates per ID_No.  As an example:

create table #InputTable (ID_No int ,OccurMonth datetime)
insert into #InputTable (ID_No,OccurMonth)
select 10, '2007-11-01' Union all
select 10, '2007-12-01' Union all
select 10, '2008-01-01' Union all
select 20, '2009-01-01' Union all
select 20, '2009-02-01' Union all
select 20, '2009-04-01' Union all
select 30, '2010-05-01' Union all
select 30, '2010-08-01' Union all
select 30, '2010-09-01' Union all
select 40, '2008-03-01'

For the above table, the answer should be:

ID_No OccurMonth
----- ----------
20 2009-02-01
30 2010-06-01
30 2010-07-01

1) don't include an ID column,

2) don't use the start date/end dates in the data or

3) use cursors, which are forbidden in my environment.

Can't Make Database Role A Member Of Another Database Role In 2005.

Jan 9, 2006

In sql server 2000, I created some custom database roles called ProjectLeader and Developer.  I would make these roles a member in the fixed database roles so that I would only have to add the user to the ProjectLeader or Developer role once and they would presto-magico have the security I wanted them to have with no unecessary mouse clicking.  I'm not sure how to repeat this process in 2005?  Management Studio doesn't seem to allow you to add a role as a member in another role.  Is there a work around or solution for this?

Database Gone Missing...

Sep 14, 2007

Hello. We have a smaller system on one of our servers where a couple of users where beta-testing. This system used a SQLExpress 2005 database (databaseName_data.mdf).

But yesterday we saw that we couldn't use the system anymore, we got errors about the connection to the database. We open SQL Management Studio and connected to the SQL Server and we saw the name of the database in the list, but it was completly empty. Nothing. Not the "folder" for Tables, Programmability, Security... nothing.

We then browsed to the folder where the MDF file used to be, and there we only found the LDF file. The MDF file was gone.

We "know" that no one here have been shutting down the SQL Service and then deleted the DB, so we are trying to figure out what has happen.

It's not a major issue, because it's just a beta-test, but we don't want this to happen later on again...

Does anyone have a clue of what might be going on?

We are using three instances of SQL Express on this test machine btw... One for the public system (wich used this db), one for development and one for some random tests...

The public server and develop server used databases with the same name, but of course, different files on the hdd (and different instances of SQL Express).

//J

Edit: I might add that we hadn't backed this db up yet... Is there some way to use the LDF-file to restore some of the data?

Missing Information From Database

Aug 14, 2007

I have a serious problem with either SQL Server or SQL Reporting Services. I have 7 tables in a database that are relational. I have created serveral reports against this database. Last week when I pulled one of the reports, I was missing information on one of the cells. The reason why I know this is because my boss has us verify the report against the database. That took about an hour to complete. When we found that the report was not correct I repulled the report and the cell that was empty, was now populated. What gives? This is the same report I have pulled for the last month and had no problems until now. Is there a time issue involved between the last update to the database to the time I pull the report? Or maybe there is something wrong with the query?

Only Copy Missing Rows From One Database To Another

May 24, 2007

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to create a performant script to copy records from a table in a source database, to an identical table in a destination database.

In SQL 2000, I used to create a little lookup which did a count using certain fields. If the record was missing, I executed an INSERT query, otherwise an UPDATE query. The result was that the table on the destination side was always up to date. Duplicate rows were out of the question.

This was, if I'm not mistaking, a Data Transformation, using a bit of custom VBA code to govern the transfer. For each source row, the custom code was executed. Depending on the result of the custom code, a different query was launched.

Now I'm trying to do the same using SSIS in SQL 2005. Is there a task which does this for me, or do I have to script again? In the latter case, which type of task would I use?

(I thought of the Script Task, but then I would need to set up quite a bit myself.)

Thank you,

Bram

At which point presumably the hardware takes over and copies theother drive over to mirror it again. However, my sql server admin book, says raid 1 is bad, as it means you havelots of downtime, when recovering from a broken drive. Can anyone give me some advice on this? What is the best Raid to use whenyou are running SQL server on the server.ThanksJJ
